We visited Mai Mien Yen Tsai 賣麵炎仔 in Datong District, and it truly feels like a place for traditional Taiwanese food done the old school way. This is a spot with no social media, no menu prices, and no fancy decor. The menu is simple and focuses on doing just a few dishes. If you come too late, many items will be sold out. We discovered this place through another food blogger and learned quickly that you need to be flexible with your order. If you want more choices, come early, but be prepared to wait 30 to 60 minutes in line. The space feels very local. The staff and owner clearly know the neighbours well, and we saw many locals stopping by, some even ordering takeout. Take-out is very simple: everything is packed in plastic bags, no fancy containers. If you want an old-school Taiwanese vibe with very affordable prices, this place is for you. Most dishes are around NT$100 to NT$120, and the most expensive item is the chicken at NT$250. Portions are generous, and you will see locals and visitors lining up together. Staffs were welcoming even though the shop was crowded and I came in a group of 5. Dry Noodles were well cooked. Vermicelli in soup is a great comfort food. I wished the crispy pork was crispier. Squid was well cooked, not rubbery at all! The meat goes will with their sweet and sour sauces. The staff took initiative to exclude the spicy sauces to my children noodles, in case they can't take the heat.

Came across the shop while strolling in Dihua Street. Quite a queue. Located opposite of school. Nice boss explaining to us The dry noodle, chicken and pork were quite good. The pig kidney was served cold.

Waited for 5 minutes in line on a friday around noon. Not bad at all. Staff was super quick with seating and serving me. The place has a bit of a classic old-fashioned run down vibe, which makes it clear it’s all about the food here. I ordered their signature braised pork and some noodles. The pork definitely deserves all the praise! (praised pork.. ha ha) I was surprised by how cheap it was. In total I only paid 70 ntd!

A must-visit for traditional Taiwanese wheat noodles lovers! The noodles have a great chewy texture, and the broth is light yet packed with deep umami flavors. The fried pork belly is solid and tasty definitely their best dish. White chicken meat is tender and taste good. Their braised dishes (滷味) are also fantastic—especially the braised tofu and pork intestines, which pair perfectly with the noodles. The shop has an old-school, nostalgic feel, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. It can get quite busy during meal hours, but service is quick and efficient. If you’re in Taipei and craving a simple yet incredibly satisfying bowl of noodles, 買麵炎仔 is a must-try!

Was just passing by and saw a long line outside, so I figured, “This must be good!” and decided to check it out. The place is pretty small, very local-style. Staff were super nice and welcoming — definitely a big plus. Food was tasty, came out quick, and overall was solid. But maybe because I had high expectations from the crowd, it didn’t really wow me. Some dishes were good, but nothing that made me go “I need to come back ASAP.” If you're nearby and curious, it's worth a try. Just don't expect something mind-blowing based on the line alone.

Went early in the morning and there was already a long queue outside. I would highly recommend the noodles with soup as the broth is truly outstanding: light, tasty, complex. Other dishes tasted alright but they are pretty "exotic". Service was outstanding and they seemed quite patient with English-speaking customers but do your homework and check their ordering sheet with translation to avoid gastronomical surprises which are not to your palate.

This place was thankfully not crowded on a thursday morning when I came The noodles and meat were fantastic, definitely worthy of the michelin bib gourmand title Noodles were done with the best chewiness not over or undercooked, just right. Was a bit apprehensive about the sauce on the noodles at first, but mixed in it was just the perfect amount with tangy spicy and flavour to match with the meat, which itself was full of flavour - wasnt sure which was supposed to complement which both seemed good to eat on their own! You know a place is going to be good when theres a line out the door that you can see from two blocks away. Luckily, the table turnover here is pretty quick and we waited only about 15min to get a table. You order your food first, get seated, eat and then pay. We pretty much got everything available that day as it varies. Everything was delicious specially the offal. Even my son who is the pickiest eater enjoyed the meal here. Would come back!

This place has been recommended by my uncle for a while and every time we've tried to go in the past it was too busy or closed. There's usually a line, but as I experienced today it moves quickly. Towards after noon they'll also start to run out of items. We got roasted pork, pork heart, pork liver, dry noodles, and chicken feet soup. Everything tasted fresh and balanced and went well with the fresh ginger and the two sauces. The noodles had a nice flavor in the sauce and wasn't too overpowering. The soup was delicious and umami. My favorite item was the heart - it had a great slightly crunch texture.

Travel to Taipei and local friends invited local Taiwanese food. Great eat & Friendly place! Thumb up!!!
