I’ve never seen an H-E-B like this, and this may be the only one. Having this little food cord in here is pretty cool and while I have not eaten everywhere here yet it all looks and smells great.

The potato I just got was straight up nasty . Never eating there again . It used to be good . Potato wasn’t throughly cooked right , salted , and meat was more fat than meat. This time I didn’t even eat it past my first mouthful being just straight up fat in a hard potato . Ew .

Chicken sandwich was very affordable, large, and flavorful! The fried rice with chicken skewers was also delicious. The brisket cheesesteak sandwich was packed with brisket and melted in your mouth.

I don’t know what they put in the sweet tea at Roots Chicken Shak but it’s AMAZING! I discovered this place one day after working at the hospital for my nursing clinicals. I make it a point to come here after every clinical. The chicken is really good and always fresh. I just had the Japanese place too and the fried rice is delicious! I highly recommend both places!

Google
I was looking to the duck fat fries but tbh they don’t really taste any different from “regular fries”. They don’t have like a more “complex” flavor, if you didn’t know they were “duck fat” you wouldn’tve believed it anyway. The chicken tenders are alright. I think it’s got great potential though!! I think it’s a good move by HEB, the mini foot court.

Yelp
I'd give this place a solid 4 stars. I think what's great about it is that it's convenient with multiple options to eat that also has a bar attached. Location wise means that it can be a HH spot after work if you don't mind the potential grocery store parking lot nightmare. Vibes are more on the family-friendly side since it's an H-E-B You've got 5 different options for food so there's something there for everyone. I personally tried the duck fat chicken nuggets with 3 types of sauces. The West Indes hot sauce was probably my favorite. Didn't really get much from the duck fat though, you definitely taste it more from the French fries. Also got some Korean dumplings from Yumai which were tasty and can warm your belly for under $10. The only thing I regret was getting a pumpkin spiced old fashioned from the bar lol but that was definitely on me.

Yelp
Main Streat was exciting when it opened, but now that it's been there a while, and my favorite vendors have left, I've lost interest. I can now easily shop at this HEB without being tempted to buy myself a meal. However, if you're in the area and need a no-frills cost-effective hot meal, it's still a solid option. I can't even speak to any of the current vendors because I've lost track of who is still there, and if I've tried food from any of them.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in for a small bite to eat and something to drink. There is a full bar but was a little surprised to learn that there is no cider on draft. Okay, what about cans? Nope, all out even after checking in the pack. FYI, this is attached to a grocery store. I can not have beer due to a barley allergy and I am gluten intolerant. I settled on a red wine blend which came from tap. We live in Austin, it would definitely benefit this place to add cider options. The overall setup was great and enjoyed a drink and a small bite here with my husband. I can't wait until the weather is better and people move on from the 'rona so they can maybe have some live music or events where people can hang out. They have a whiskey Thursdays that offers some discounts. If I was a whiskey fan I would probably check that out.

Yelp
One of my new favorite spots! There are 5 walk-up places to chose from; chicken, bbq, grilled cheese, pizza, and teriyaki. We have not been disappointed by any of them! The brisket is moist, the skewers have been our go to dishes. Just tried the chicken nostrils for the first time today - light, crispy, and the honey mustard is fantastic. Plus, the Mueller Bar is another great reason to stop by. Friendly staff and tasty drinks. Never too crowded, quick turn around, and comfortable atmosphere.

Yelp
Main Streat is the Food Court inside the Mueller HEB. For a supermarket food court, it is not great. The gold standard for supermarket food courts in Austin is Hmart. They have a huge roomy pleasant space. They have six-eight magnificent restaurants each of which would be in the top third of their category in Austin. They are all Asian but different kinds of Asian. Restaurants that fail at Hmart Food Court are typically still better than most of the other restaurants in Austin. That tells you how good the successes are. At Hmart, you can get really good drinks from two nearby vendors and the TV has fun things to watch. At Mueller, Main Streat is jammed into a leftover hallway that was not earning any other kind of money for HEB. The stands are small because there is no room. The cramped hallway food court is an unpleasant place to be. You are not drawn to it to fantasize about the wonderful dishes you could be ordering. You are supposed to eat next door in the bar or in the patio beyond that. The bar feels like a garage. It has high chairs so you do not sit too long. It is not a nice place to linger. The patio is okay. The selection of restaurants is not great. My Asian food loving vegetarian wife found nothing to love in the one Asian stall. HEB's barbecue is functional at best. (The gold standard in supermarket barbecue is Whole Foods. Bowie BBQ is in the top third of the city.) The Mexican stand is ho-hum. So the duck-fat fried chicken place would have to be amazing to make Main Streat any kind of destination. If you are at HEB Mueller anyway and you need lunch or a drink, you could make this work. It is not a destination draw.

Yelp
The Bbq brisket was excellent! Better than most I've had. I was very pleasantly surprised

Yelp
Probably closer to 3 1/2, but I'm feeling semi-generous. Think mall or airport food court, but with better quality and execution. The hard part for our first visit was deciding which restaurant to try. I ended up trying their Japanese restaurant and my dining companion tried the grilled cheese restaurant. First and foremost, this is not a user friendly experience. Every one of the restaurants is a self serve counter where you use a keypad to order. The format of the keypad/menu isn't easy to follow. More than one diner (besides me and my companion) needed to figure out how to order a drink. (FYI, you order the drink from the keypad, then you get your cup when they call you up for your food.) Additionally, customizing an order can be a bit of a challenge. A lot of the online ordering platforms have customization options, but Main Streat has a space to enter your requests with the on-screen keyboard. Fortunately, the kitchen staff does a great job of reading and accommodating special requests. I had the pork potstickers, which are some of the best in town. They're crispy, but not deep fried and the sauce has a good flavor. I also liked my noodles with the beef skewers. The beef was high quality, but it would've benefitted from being flipped on the grill as one side had grill marks and the other side was just grey meat. My dining companion had one of the grilled cheese sandwiches, which she described as good. Once you figure out that you need to order the drinks at the same time you place your food order, you'll find the drinks in the limited seating area by the bar. HEB has its own version of the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine which offers products from Coke, Pepsi, and Maine Root. They also have sweet and unsweet tea as well as lemonade and strawberry lemonade. The food is high quality and there are a lot of options available (surprisingly no burger or Italian options, though). The awkwardness of ordering and very limited dine-in seating means that Main Streat will be someplace that I'd only stop by when in the area and probably during off hours.

Yelp
Great selection and delicious food. The variety is exceptional and the staff is accommodating to dietary concerns.

Yelp
I'm going to start this by contradicting the haters who compare this to HMart and space that was otherwise not making money for HEB. When this store opened, this space was "cafe mueller," heb's first bar/restaurant, and I miss it! They had the best burger in town and really good brisket. They had an outdoor play yard for kids. A lot of the outdoor seating area was sacrificed to add the Curbside buildout during COVID. The food hall concept also opened during COVID, and conveniently has you order at a kiosk for each vendor. Very safe. All the seating is in the (very dark and cold) bar or outdoors, and there is less of it than there used to be. Also, I don't think any of the vendors have kids portions, and half the seating is bar height, so I'm no longer interested in bringing my kids here - total bummer, as we all loved cafe mueller. With the kiosks and separate bar, I am definitely not inclined to drag my kids here - I'd have to herd them through all the kiosks and the bar to get everyone's order in, and then pick everything up by vendor, and would be unable to have eyes on my kids at the table while doing so. You now need to go into the bar for drink refills, where I wouldn't sit with my kids because of the bar-height tables. The pickup part is what makes the food court feel like an airport - everyone is just kind of waiting around. There are no lines, unlike cafe mueller, which always had a line, but the standing around makes it feel depressing. The food is ok. I like some of the vendors more than others. My favorite is Calle Taqueria. It's a good place to pick up lunch to go midday, or for ordering from Favor. The one advantage to Main Streat is that it tends to have no delivery fee on Favor, since it's at HEB. However, if you order from more than one place, you get more than one runner, since every vendor is a separate order. I suppose you can make one order at one vendor, and contact the runner to go to other vendors on the same run. HEB, if you're reading this, I know you're collecting data. Windsor Park and Mueller has lots of families. Is there a way you could once again make this space friendly to families with small kids who want to get a bite to eat while doing the grocery shopping? And more of a community gathering space, with more seating? I used to meet up with a cyclist group here, and I don't think we could do that in the current configuration, nor will I visit with my kids for the reasons described above.

Yelp
OK, whoever named this place "Main Streat" should be fired. Please, go word vomit on yourself and leave the rest of us out of it. Other than that, we had a mostly wonderful experience here on Saturday afternoon when we took our daughter here as a TREAT after she got her stitches out at Dell. We're doing an overall review since we ordered from two places: Roots Chicken Shak (yet another idiotic spelling; why is grammar so uncool these days??) and Calle Taqueria. We'll start with Roots: --Kale salad: tasty; did NOT appreciate so many breadcrumbs and definitely was appalled to see two whole anchovies on the top (that's a pretty baller move). --Fried chicken strips: Fine. The whole duck fat thing is a gimmick though because we have pretty discerning palates and you absolutely 100% cannot taste the difference. --Original fried chicken sandwich: Amazing, definitely one of the best ones we've ever had. Loved the sweet potato bun and the kale slaw. Calle Taqueria: We're considering this place one of Austin's best-kept secrets right now because the food was some of the best that we've had in town, especially considering the price point. --Smoked brisket Quesadilla: incredible. Bursting with flavor, loved the cheesy underside. Sooooooo good. Superior in every way to the one that we've had in this style from Vaquero Taquero. --Al Pastor taco: see above word-for-word. DELISH. The only bummer here were the sides. We loved the street corn but the corn itself was limp and sad-looking. The refried beans were also...just weird. Something tasted pretty off in them. As for the space, it's more like a little hallway than an actual food hall. It was clean and spacious and there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. A couple things that aren't intuitive are cups for water (you need to get them from the restaurant vendors) and that the loudspeaker doesn't extend to the outside for when your order is up (which is really dumb considering that's where most people will want to sit during Covid). BUT THEY HAVE NORMAL COMPOSTABLE STRAWS HALLELUJAH!!!!! Thank you!!! And all the silverware is individually wrapped as well. Those small touches did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. We will absolutely be back again.

Yelp
First time visitor and I have to say the kids portion at the Yumai Japanese grill was more than enough. I got the chicken fried rice and I could tell they used quality ingredients because the food was fresh and tasty. The rice wasn't heavily over soy sauced either. The pay/self ordering stations were a pretty cool touch, too. Would return to try the other restaurants and even the bar. Docked 1 star because it wasn't anything to rave about but very delicious. Especially before you have to grocery shop (never shop hungry)

Yelp
First time visitor to the Main Streat, it is nice to have some solid meal options at this HEB now. I had the chopped BBQ sandwich and loaded baked potato, plenty of quantity with great taste. Robert was super helpful making sure we were taken care of. Looking forward to trying the Japanese and melted cheese spots on my next grocery stop.

Yelp
I love HEB, but this food court and bar has really taken it to the next level. You get a choice of 5 vendors- bbq, Japanese, fried chicken, grilled cheese, and tacos. There also a bar where you can order drinks if you're in the mood. Another bonus- there are tables where you can dine in or sit outside, so you don't have to get it "to go". So far I've only had the bbq and the Japanese food, and they were both very good! I'm looking forward to my next trip back where I can give the others a try. Definitely check it out if you are in the area and want to get a quick bite to eat.

Yelp
Nice new setup. Instead of having the one "H-E-B Restaurant" now it's a actual food court with different vendors. I haven't tried all of them yet so can't speak for the food but I will update my review once I have. The BBQ is still HEB's bbq which is amazing!
