Main Street Farm Review - Livingston Manor - Hudson Valley - The Infatuation

"This place is half grocery store and half cafe. On the cafe side, you’ll find great sandwiches, salads, and soups. But you can also buy most of the ingredients on the menu in the store section on the left side—including cured meats, trout, local tomatoes, and pickles. This is our favorite place in the area for a quick lunch to-go, and it works well if you want to pick up a couple snacks before a hike. In the summertime, there’s often a farmer’s market set up in front with even more fresh produce." - Hannah Albertine

First time in the store after years & it looks so different, everything in the store is very organized and clean, cashiers are fast & super friendly. All workers speak both English & Spanish. The produce is amazing & fresh, best rolls in town! prices are great compared to other places close by. I will definitely be back to shop here.

When I first walked in the store, I was a little put off because I thought it was just a fruit market. To my pleasant surprise, there was a lot of different things that you could buy there, and it saved me from going to the supermarket. Some things are overpriced such as minced garlic from Goya. They wanted almost 7 dollars for it, but the vegetables were priced low and they looked good even though there wasn’t a huge selection like but that was just because my expectation was that it was just a fruit vegetable market. Apparently this store has changed hands since the last time I went there. I was excited at the prospect of being able to go here and shop locally for small business owners and with it being less than a half a mile away from my mom‘s house my goal was to go there and get lettuce, but I wind up getting a number of things That I needed from the supermarket and so when I left there, I felt satisfied. When I got home, there was a whole different story. I bought red leaf lettuce, which was rotten to the core on the inside. I had to throw it out. I also bought Romain lettuce, which was mostly the darker green leaves and less of the crisp part of the lettuce, which disappointed me a little, but I figured I could still make do I washed and cut up the lettuce and I used the pre-cut onions, celery, and carrots that I bought also from this fruit market. And I made my salad. When I was eating it, I didn’t really notice anything except that the leaves were not really what I like. I don’t love all Bert green leaves found at the top. But whatever. I ate it. An hour later and for five hours more, I was sick as a dog. I had to take two different stomach medicines, and Tums because something in that salad did not agree with me and then I start freaking out because the first one that I threw away was rotten so it made me feel like this lettuce wasn’t that fresh or maybe it was the pre-chopped onion, celery or carrots. All I know is that I almost called out of work today. Luckily, I felt better when I got up, even though I have still have a little bit of a stomachache I called them this morning and told them that the red leaf lettuce is rotten and they need to take it off the shelves and I told the lady that I was really sick last night. She was so nonchalant about it and said OK and we hung up. I don’t love that. She should’ve said come and get a different head of lettuce, but she didn’t offer anything. And therefore, I waited till I got home from work to write this review. Unfortunately, I will not be going back here again. I usually go to Rahway Farmers Market and I don’t think I’ve ever had this issue. I didn’t take a picture of it, but I should have. Because when I tell you that the red leaf lettuce head was slimy and rotten on the inside to the point that it should’ve never been put on the shelf.

Excellent produce store. Very fresh produce. They also have fresh cut flowers, boar's head cold cuts. Nice assortment of imported products. Breads and rolls. Plenty of free parking in the rear. Good service, nice staff.

I moved into the area and I'm using this farmer's market they tend to have higher prices but it's the convenience and the location

This farm market has improved since the renovations. Prices are all right. The layout is roomier. The space is easier to navigate. They have a decent selection of fruits and veggies, along with bread and some dry foods/pantry stuff. They have a good selection. Convenience comes at a price, but their prices aren't bad. Quality varies but that's anywhere.

There's new owners and they have soo many new selections. Including fresh meat, (still have boars head), prepared foods, lots of aisles and different cultural foods. A bigger frozen section. And many household items. Its a fully packed supermarket.

I will never go here again. I havent been here in a very long time. I am assuming it has changed ownership since the last time I went. Very poor selection of fruits and veggies. The package of strawberries were largely rotten. The blueberries tasted terrible. I am scared to eat the apples now. Never again for me. I will continue to go to the market in Rahway from now on.

Yelp
Their fresh rolls are amazing, and vegan if you care (my daughter is allergic to milk and eggs and hasn't ever had a problem). Their prices on blueberries are usually better than the supermarket. Their selection of fresh herbs is great. They also have a great selection of nuts and seeds, and the best price you can get on goya yellow rice if you buy the 3 pack. Their dried bean prices aren't terrible. If you don't eat meat, you can easily go here and eat all of your meals in $10-20 a day, which I like. My family goes to this place probably 3/week at least

Yelp
I love finding farmers markets for produce because they tend to be cheaper than large grocery stores. I also find them fresher. This place definitely lives up to that. There's parking directly on main st and in the back with a parking lot. Their credit card minimum is $10, which is a little hard to hit if you're only looking for few things! Their bread options are limited but are of good quality. They have an interesting selection of different pastas which is a nice bonus.

Yelp
Just read the only other review from 2010. Man things do change over time. The only reason I stop by is the fact that there is no waiting in line and it's convenient on the way home. But there price is on the high end. And there fruits and veggies are all on the old squishy side. Although they do have a small fresh deli meat section. And if you know where this is on main street, parking isn't as bad in the back. Guess if you needed that extra veggie for your dinner, this would be the place to go.

Yelp
Visited many times prices for the fruits and vegetables are always at the high end of pricing.

Yelp
Lots of exotic choice here. Competitive prices. No fresh fish though. Best for fruits, secondary for veggies.
