Main Street Kitchen Indian Cuisine is hands down one of the best Indian restaurants in town! From the moment we stepped in, the service and hospitality were exceptional. We started with Chicken 65 and Chicken Manchurian as appetizers. The Chicken Manchurian was absolutely fantastic—perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. However, the Chicken 65 didn’t quite meet our expectations, and I shared my feedback with the staff. To our surprise and delight, they took it off the bill without us even asking! Such a thoughtful gesture truly highlights their commitment to customer satisfaction. For our main course, we ordered Lamb Hyderabadi, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Biryani, Goat Biryani, and garlic naan. The Lamb Hyderabadi was a standout dish—rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The tender lamb was simmered in a delicious gravy that had just the right amount of heat and depth of flavor. The Chicken Tikka Masala was another highlight, with its creamy, velvety sauce that was perfectly balanced and packed with authentic spices. The Lamb and Goat Biryanis were equally amazing, with meat so tender it practically fell apart. The aromatic basmati rice was layered with a medley of spices, creating a symphony of flavors. The garlic naan was warm, fresh, and fragrant, complementing every dish beautifully. Every member of my family thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and we left with full hearts and satisfied taste buds. Highly recommended for anyone craving delicious and authentic Indian cuisine! This is a must-visit spot for Indian food lovers!

Google
Great food, personable service. Our group (8-10 people) has been going to Main Street Kitchen on a monthly basis since 2019, and we have NEVER had a bad experience. Sakib and his team go out of their way to make every visit pleasant. They were quick to recommend dishes for diners who were not familiar with Indian food varieties, and they will do customizations as requested. Highly recommended!!

Google
A place where service, food, and atmosphere all come together to make it a special meal. If you have not tried Indian food this is a great place to start. Ask questions to help find the taste that fits you best. We had a group of 12 and the restaurant had seating set up for us when we arrived. First time I was in a group were everyone loved the food.

My partner and I tried this place out for the first time. The food, service here was amazing! Food came out hot, presentation was delightful and the service was very attentive. They were sweet and very helpful. The atmosphere was quiet/peaceful and super clean! Will definitely be back

I recently visited Main Street Kitchen, an incredible Indian restaurant, thanks to my friend, who’s a regular and absolutely loves this place. Now I see why! We shared a delightful meal that included butter chicken (which was creamy and perfectly spiced), chicken tikka, and crispy, flavorful samosas. I also tried their mango yogurt drink, and let me tell you—it was a refreshing, delicious treat that paired wonderfully with the meal. The food was fantastic, but what really stood out was the excellent customer service. The staff was incredibly attentive, and the restaurant was spotlessly clean, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I can confidently say I’ll be back soon. If you’re looking for authentic, mouthwatering Indian food and top-notch hospitality, this is the spot to try! Highly recommend it. 🌟

I can't stop raving about my visit to this Indian gem of a restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and made me feel like a valued guest. Every dish I tried was a masterpiece of flavor and authenticity. The Coconut Chicken was absolutely divine, with its creamy, aromatic sauce that had the perfect balance of spices—pure comfort food at its finest. The Samosas were a delightful surprise—crispy, golden on the outside, and bursting with a savory filling that had just the right kick. And the Naan? Oh, it was fluffy, buttery perfection, the ideal companion to soak up every last drop of that irresistible curry. This restaurant has completely won me over, and I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu. Highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in Indian cuisine at its best!

Yelp
Main Street Kitchen--You Never Go wrong Here! I never knew they had lunch specials--What a deal! The lentil soup is perfect. The chicken curry is perfect. The rice is perfect. The Mango pickle is untouchable. The Raitha is something to write home about! The rice pudding settles it all in nicely. I'm going to start eating here more often. We usually do takeout, but they are so nice here...

Jean M.

Yelp
Everything I've had here has been delicious! Special love for their chicken tikka masala and their mango lassi! Friendly service and good prices too! They've made the best with the decor as a former Coney Island. They do have a drive thru too, haven't done that yet but that's a great option!

Ash P.

Yelp
This place was pretty empty when I came but the staff was nice and the chicken 65 was very tasty. In the middle of clawson and worth the stop. Will try again. Could of been cleaner I saw a mop bucket sitting out but the tables were set up very nice.

Michael T.

Yelp
Ordered gobi manchurian -cauliflower, hakka noodles, and vegetable tikka masala spicy. Food: The manchurian flavor was ok but was overpowered by dough and deep fry. I couldn't even tell there was cauliflower. what's worse was it was soggy and damp, so i got a mouthful of oily doughy cauliflower. This is a classic dish but was not made to adequate standards. Hakka noodles were good. Noodles 90% chicken 10%, so be aware of that. I ordered it non-spicy, and this was my fault because it literally came without a single spice and was incredibly bland/unflavorful. We asked for additional spice (got it nonspicy to share with our kid), but they said this was unavailable. and had to ask for the spicy sauce they would normally cook this with. Do they really not have hot sauce? surprised, not in a good way. The vegetable tikka masala spicy was NOT SPICY and was a bit disappointing. The sauce was flavorful and thick/creamy, which I enjoyed. However, there was BARELY any vegetables (see my picture). it is well presented, but I didn't really come for the presentation, it was just a lot of curry and little content, similar to the hakka noodles 85% sauce 15% other content. I was hungrier than when I began. The atmosphere is ok and it is clean with tables and booths. Service was fast and run by one person who was very nice to us. I think they tried to mimic a slightly fancy Indian restaurant atmosphere, but I don't think it was achieving it. If I come back, maybe I'll ask for double portion and extra spicy.

Adrienne Y.

Yelp
Never disappoints me. Extra spicy Chicken Hakka noodles I've also got the garlic naan bread, just not this time. It's also pillowy, garlicky goodness!

Abbie C.

Yelp
Food was around 3.5. Service was attentive as expected as we were the only ones in the restaurant. Ambiance is like American breakfast booth vibe with white tablecloths and napkins. Food tasted good, but didn't feel super warm although there was a candle underneath most dishes.

Anthony F.

Yelp
Great Indian restaurant in heart of Clawson. Ample parking with very inviting and clean dining area. Tried the Chicken Manchurian which has phenomenal and highly recommend. Had nice chunks of breaded chicken in a tangy red sauce with perfect amount of spice. For an appetizer had the chicken hot and sour soup which was very good. If you like hot and sour soup from Thai restaurants this will def be something you want to try. For dessert ordered the Gulab Jamun which were the floured balls in a sugary syrup which were divine. Highly recommend

Subu M.

Yelp
Gave this place another go. I think because this was closest to home and I needed food ASAP. This is an absolute no go, this is the last time. NEVER AGAIN. They are making money off these clawson people that don't know any better. It's wrongly overpriced for not good food and a small amount of it .

Clare W.

Yelp
The chana masala is great! Loved the rice pudding. Also got the naan and palak paneer which were good

Jessica F.

Yelp
First time here. Drove right by because it looked closed due to plastic all around. My very first drive-thru Indian food. Ordered 2 entrees and an app. The Gobi Manchurian was delish, great flavor and spice, lots of large pieces of cauliflower. Shrimp fried rice; this is where they lost a star- menu description: "Basmati rice tossed with shrimp egg and vegetables." there was no egg! That's why this was ordered looking forward to the shrimp+egg combo, a fair number of good sized shrimp. Lastly, the mixed vegetable curry, this was amazing. All in all very tasty, strange and quick drive thru experience and super disappointed about no egg.

Holly C.

Yelp
I got the butter chicken and tiki masala, they both have weird flavors almost like plastic I can't eat them and the Samosa isn't that great, very salty but edible

Gawai I.

Yelp
Everything was great! Food, Service and ambiance. I had the Lamb Vindaloo, Aloo Gobi, Garlic Naan. This is honestly the best Indian food I have had in years! Spices were perfect. The ratio of Cauliflower to potato, Lamb and potato were better than any restaurant I've ever been to. I didn't feel like I had a plate of potatoes with sauce and spice. I still have left over meat to take home! The dishes came out in metal pots with a candle underneath to keep the food warm! The table was tastefully set. Honestly the best meal I've had in a long time. The staff was friendly and attentive. If I lived closer, I would be a regular! Keep up the good work! Excellent!!!!

Molly S.

Yelp
The butter chicken, chicken Tikka masala, and garlic naan were amazing! Medium spicy level was perfect for us and we might go spicier next time. Great introduction to Indian cuisine. Will be back to try different dishes.

Mike B.

Yelp
The food here is out of this world good. I cannot get enough Rogan Josh, Lamb Dopiaza, and Pulao Rice. The homemade yogurt of the Raitha is so well balanced in flavors it is something you'll want every day--and it is really good at promoting gut health. Really good. Better than any supplement or other yougurt I've had. The Rice Pudding is of a thin consistency--not like a Greek-ish version, but it is packed with flavor and satisfaction. The men running this restaurant are very friendly and welcoming, and my kids prefer eating there over takeout because of it. They are pretty fond of the Tikka, as well. We all love the Paneer Pakora (I'll bet it is home-made, too), Manchurian Chicken, and Onion Bhaje appetizers. They can be a meal unto themselves. One of us can't live without the Garlic Naan. The Chicken Jalfrezi and Goat Bhuna are great finds, too. The place is spotless and the place settings actually seem a bit elegant. One more thing--Mango Lassi. The best. Get an extra one for the next day. I'd say I eat here on average at least once a week getting enough takeout for two days at a time, and I ate here 7 days in a row on my last vacation. I'm not sure what of the spices are doing it, but my blood pressure--especially my diastolic, is lowered the night and next morning when I eat here. "Gotta go back, dear. Doctor's orders!"

Yelp
I ordered Uber eats ( coconut chicken curry & Hakka noodles ). It was tasty . So the 3 rd night stay here in Troy we went for dinner there . Place furnished very well . Neat and clean . Open kitchen . It was empty for a Friday night . Just 2 customers eating in . But lots of phone orders & Uber . The staff was so attentive polite . We ordered chicken 65 . Chicken Biriyani , chicken madras & naan We asked to make it Indian spicy but the waiter said he cannot make it too spicy but can give chilli on side Any ways , food tasted real good . Except not soouth indian spicy:) service was awesome , Would visit again before we leave to VA

Morgan C.

Yelp
This is in my all time top favorite takeout spots. The food is consistently delicious and is always hot and ready quickly. We've never been met with a bad meal from Main Street. A friend and I recently ordered from here and when we arrived after having forgotten to finish our order online, we were met with a friendly and understanding team who joked with us and then provided a snack while we waited on our dinner. This is an easy go-to option to add to your list for anyone.

Thomas T.

Yelp
Me and my friends always come here, and this time we ordered the Butter Chicken, Chicken Vindaloo, Garlic Naan and Chicken Biryani. While everything was good, we really enjoyed the Butter Chicken and Chicken Biryani so much with the Garlic Naan! Most of all the service is great! The guys here are so kind and sweet and are always checking if we need anything. If you don't want to dine in, it seems that so many people also enjoy their drive thru and pickup!

Stephanie W.

Yelp
The customer service was great! The food was flavorful. My spice level was medium and that wasn't spicy for me. I ordered the chicken madras, with basmati rice and naan. Everything was good!

Jeremy S.

Yelp
We ate three entrees family style. The Lamb Dopiaza was fantastic and chicken and paratha entrees were also very tasty. Our server was very polite and attentive and he remembered previous customers who came in to the restaurant. He kept our water glasses full and ended our meal with rice pudding. Overall great experience and we will return!

George M.

Yelp
Food was amazing... also the service was great. We had chicken biryani and amazing appetizers... I would recommend giving this place a try!

Bill B.

Yelp
Many years ago, I had to go to the Peacock in Dearborn if I wanted Indian food. Now, there are Indian restaurants aplenty. Many are good but Main Street Kitchen takes it to 11. Their lentil soup and mattar paneer (peas and farmer's cheese cubes) were so fresh and fragrant. This isn't the closest place to me but it's worth the trip.

Jessica S.

Yelp
The food here is fantastic! We love the veg samosas and all of the main entrees. Our server was kind and attentive. Wonderful place and good lunch specials!

Varun S.

Yelp
The food was good - butter chicken for the win. Malai Kofta could be better - but not bad. The inside needs to be renovated as it's a old diner turned into a Indian restaurant - interesting vibes. Take out recommended!

Erynn M.

Yelp
Service was great! But the food... I threw up within 30 mins... multiple times for an hour. I literally ate maybe 10 bites of my butter chicken. I've ordered from here a few times before and the food is not amazing but it's decent and close by. But I think this is my last time. :(

Joe B.

Yelp
Dined in here once and the food was pretty good. A bit later ordered delivery and the food was flavorless and bland. I'm not talking about differences in heat levels, but the aromatic spices and flavors were simply not there. Will probably pass in the future. Not sure of the reason for the inconsistency but not worth wasting money again.

Lettie M.

Yelp
I love how clean and authentic is this place ! Nice ambiance, tables clean and set and the food is authentic served in traditional dishes !! Highly recommend this place ! I come to dine every chance I get !

Rivka K.

Yelp
I've gotten takeout food from here many times (usually Chicken Tikka Masala and garlic naan) and it's always excellent. Highly recommend!

Amber R.

Yelp
Food was so good I forget to get a before picture! The bowls are deep and filled with a great amount of juicy chicken! Love the flavor so good with the soft garlic naan! Moe was supper nice and let us try the rice pudding!

Rebecca S.

Yelp
My daughter and I had the opportunity to experience Main Street Kitchen today. Sammie and Abraham was amazing! Now let's talk about the food the Buttered Chicken with the Garlic Cheese Naan bread is the perfect combo. The Sizzlers Lamb Chops had me wanting to chew the bone (yes it was that good.) This is definitely my go to when I want Indian food!!!

Vernon B.

Yelp
First time here. My wife is in the hospital and wanted Indian food. The convenient plus about this place, is that it has a drive thru. I ordered her the butter chicken with rice and I got the chicken tikka masala. Both dishes were just okay. However, they forgot my naan! I'm not a rice fan so I substituted nan for rice, and they forgot it. It even said nan on the receipt. So their attention to detail is lacking which removes at least one star for me. It was a bit pricey for drive thru Indian food as well. $30.00 for both dishes. I MIGHT go back. I usually give a place a second chance unless my first experience was completely horrific.

Claudia K.

Yelp
It took us a while to get back to Main Street Kitchen, and we won't be going back. I have a tomato allergy -- not so severe that cross contamination is an issue, but I can't eat it. This usually means I'm asking questions when we order, and double checking when we pick up. We did both of those things tonight when we ordered paneer. The dish still arrived with tomato. We sat here for a minute, not wanting to be the guys who complain, but we ultimately decided to call back -- we live super close and it would've been easy to pop back up to get another dish (so there was actually something I could eat). The first guy my partner talked to hung up on him. My partner called back, and a second guy said "there's 100% no way there's tomato" (among other things) and scooted him off the phone. I posted a photo so you can see there 100% is. I'm normally not petty like this, but it would've SO EASY for them to just make another dish instead of telling us that we're wrong. We eat Indian at least once a week, but we'll keep driving over to Sterling Heights for faster service, WAY better flavor, and guys who aren't rude AF.

Jessica S.

Yelp
We started ordering from Main Street Kitchen after Priya closed (it was my favorite for years.) Everything we've had has been really good. My 11YO loves the Chicken Tikka. I've tried quite a few veggie and chicken dishes and have no complaints! Love the drive-thru for carryout.

Alyssa R.

Yelp
Well, let's just say- this HIT THE SPOT in the best possible way, for a few reasons. 1. I've been to lots of Indian restaurants all over the country, and this place is legit good! 2. Though I enjoy Ashoka in Troy, it's a trek for me on a week day. I've tried all of the other Indian restaurants in the RO/Berk/Ferndale area and have been left sad and disappointed with every single one. Not MSK!!! 3. Due to COVID and said lack of good local Indian, I haven't had it in over a year and had a monster craving. I'm SO GRATEFUL they exist;) I'll admit I got the chicken tikka masala, not the more adventurous options I like to get at places I trust. I also got the Saag paneer. True Comfort Indian food. My only slightly sad moment was ordering medium plus and getting mild, which has honestly happened to me at every Indian restaurant in Michigan for the last 5 years. But a shake of chipotle powder fixed that problem. Flavorful, thick, and fresh. The naan was- naan, which is always yum. Thumbs up, I'll be back!

Karolina K.

Yelp
I had big hopes but wasn't super impressed. The food was good but nothing outstanding. I definitely had better Indian food. We ordered Onion Kulcha and Garlic Naan and for the main we had Chicken Tikka Masala & Gobi Manchurian. Both dishes with rice. Unfortunately we received only one cup of rice so we when we divided that by two of us, we had barely any rice. There should be two cups of rice for sure since both dishes indicated to have rice. Flavor was good, but as indicated above, we had better in other places. Portion size, I was a little disappointed. For what you pay for a dish there should be more, in comparison to what you get dinning in, this was half portion. And you pay the same. Garlic naan and onion kulcha were good. As for the pickup, we ordered online and drove to their pickup window, this is nice option during these days, but I would appreciate if the person giving out the food wear a mask. Noticed trough the window that nobody inside was wearing masks. Will I order again? Probably not.

Liz P.

Yelp
This was probably the freshest food temperature-wise I've had so far during the pandemic, and it was much appreciated! I did GrubHub tonight even though I live about 5 minutes away. I had been wanting to try Main St. Kitchen for a while now - it used to be Chutney's, which was an all-vegetarian Indian restaurant, and which I tried once but wasn't that impressed with. I was tired after taking a walk tonight so I wanted to do delivery, and all 4 of the apps I use (Uber Eats, GrubHub, DoorDash, and Postmates) were offering free delivery from them. I ended up doing GrubHub since they were a few bucks cheaper than the others. What I ordered: -Chicken Korma: I usually get Chicken Tikka Masala or Butter Chicken but was in the mood for something different tonight, and I've had it before at Ashoka down the street. I got it mild and it was a teeny bit spicy, but that could just be my taste buds. Nicely sized portion too. -Garlic Naan: VERY generous portion! Two large half-sized pieces of bread. Definitely enough for two people. -Mango lassi: also very good. Very impressed by MSK and will be back to do carryout at some point - if you have the Entertainment book or app, they have a 25% off coupon in there, too. As others have mentioned, they DO have a drive-thru, also - I was told it used to be a Checkers a long time ago, so that's why. Very tasty and definitely will be ordering from them again. Fantastic that they are 5 minutes down the street, too!

Steve K.

Yelp
I had a wonderful lunch here today, including mulligatawny, soup, Bagara Baingan (an eggplant entrée) and some garlic naan bread. Everything tasted fresh and was prepared and spiced just right. Plus, the restaurant was very clean and tidy and the service was very good. Can't wait for my next visit!

Tony M.

Yelp
We stopped at Main Street Kitchen on the way to a class, one of my girls hasn't had Indian food before. I'm kind of torn, it's more like 3.5 stars but I'll round up since they got us in and out pretty quickly and the service was good. I'm pretty sure the interior looks the same as the family restaurant that was here before. They give you flat bread crackers (can't remember the name) and sauces, which were fine. We ordered butter chicken and naan, and they were served in a chafing dish kind of presentation. The naan was tasty, although slightly less fluffy than I've had at other places. The butter chicken was OK, but the portion of meat was on the small side for $13 and the meat wasn't that flavorful unless you got a lot of the sauce with it. The sauce was good, though. The jasmine rice was the usual. All in all it was respectable Indian food, but nothing exceptional.

Nicole E.

Yelp
The main street kitchen took over the previous Chutney's location they now offer meat, where the previous Chutney's did not offer any meat options. It was strictly vegetarian. I enjoyed the okra masala, chicken tikki masala, chili chicken and the chicken 65, tofu kadai paneer, veggie koomra, Manchurian isn't bad either. Their sambar soup is decent. The only downside is most of the food isn't warm at all, cooled with the open chafing dishes. I was told today's buffet is special, so I am not sure how much of it is in their normal weekly buffet. If I had to pick my favorite dish out of everything it would be the chicken chili for sure. So much flavor, spicy and good. They even have goat and lamb dishes today, several chicken, tofu and of course lots of veggie dishes. Their weekly buffet is $8.95/pp, $11.95 on the weekends. They have a few less food items during their regular weekday Buffett's. There was this unidentifiable reddish colored hard thing in the okra masala dish. It felt hard as a rock but with some force I was able to cut into it and break it into pieces with a knife. I showed it to the waiter and told him what I had found. He took it to the kitchen. The chef came out shortly afterwards and explained that the chaat masala was the hard thing we had found in the okra masala and it had dried out and thus was hard. It had hardened into a ball while cooking it seems. The food overall was good here. They are quick and efficient and attentive. The food is much better when it's hot and fresh of course. If you are there long enough you will get a few hot out of the kitchen items.

Amanda R.

Yelp
Food is amazing same great fresh flavor tile after time. They put great care in what they make here

Janice Y.

Yelp
I have ordered food here a few times. Chicken was dry on 2 different occasions. The 3rd time I had lamb curry and it was ok. I would consider going back to try again, but not after today. I parked in MSK's empty parking lot (only 2 other cars there) and walked over to Biscuit & Gravy for lunch around 2:20pm. When I walked out to my car just after 3pm, they had a tow truck getting ready to tow my car. Parking lot was just as empty as before. There were 2 additional tow trucks as well, probably for the other 2 vehicles. Yes, I was in the wrong for parking in their lot, so I will own it. However, being spiteful about the success of their new neighbor's place and retaliating by towing cars is a quick way to lose business. FYI MSK owners: Many people who eat at B&G are also your customers as well. To local friends, neighbors and coworkers - for alternatives, I suggest that you head to one of the many other Indian restaurants nearby (Rochester Rd, north of Big Beaver) for great flavorful dishes.

Treshawn W.

Yelp
The services was great and the restaurant is really nice . I got samosas and butter chicken and it's was okay not the best I've had 6/10 food and the services was definitely 10/10

Melanie C.

Yelp
Oh boy! This place is amazing. The food is outstanding; the samosas were so fresh and tasty. Service.... Perfect, Sam took great care of me. 100% recomendable!!!

Ho'oki P.

Yelp
Just ordered a huge takeout for my wife's birthday. They closed at 8 and I sheepishly called at 745, so was concerned. Super friendly response, the food was ready when I showed, and it's amazingly delish! The Naan and garlic Naan were just right, the butter chicken was super good with nice hunks of chicken. The mushroom rice was a new add, we'll def order that again! All the other dishes were great, as well. Serving sizes were large, with plenty of rice as well. Highly recommended!

Lori C.

Yelp
My new favorite Indian restaurant! Went there for the first time with a friend a few weeks ago and have already gone back twice. I've tried the butter chicken, lamb biryani and garlic naan. Good portions and perfectly prepared. Staff is friendly, restaurant is clean. Very cool that they have a drive thru, too. Oh and the prices are more reasonable than my previous go-to Indian restaurant in Troy! Highly recommend giving this place a chance!

Pam G.

Yelp
The food is very good. The staff is very nice. The dining room is very clean and well cared for but it is odd that it is outfitted as a fast food restaurant (a former life i am sure) with tablecloths. The plus side of being in a fast food restaurant is that there is a drive through window for convenient carryout pickup. I would dine in again and I would definately recommend for carryout.

Jessica T.

Yelp
I'm an Indian food fanatic. Palak Paneer is my fav dish. I've been eating it for 20 years. I've had it all over metro Detroit, the country, and even abroad. Tonight, I was mind blown. The new chef created pure magic. The flavor was unreal, and the paneer cooked perfectly. Pair it with garlic naan and you're in food heaven.

Jenny H.

Yelp
My husband and I placed a DoorDash delivery here yesterday. This was our first time trying out Main Street kitchen and we loved it! We ordered the vegetable samosa, garlic naan, butter chicken, and chicken tikka masala. Everything was absolutely delicious. They also gave us generous portions so we had more then enough leftovers to enjoy tonight! We were craving Indian food and this place hit the spot, for sure! We will definitely be ordering from here again.

Fred N.

Yelp
The menu is full of vegetarian options. I have ordered carryout a couple of times and ate in recently. The food has been consistently good, and the dishes were exactly what I expected with the level of spice I asked for. Love the biryani, naan and the dal makhani!

Sri Ram K.

Yelp
Avoid Main Street Kitchen at all costs - the food is tasteless, the reception is rude, and the ambience is unpleasant; a terrible dining experience overall. What can we expect more than this from a restaurant with empty parking spots. This restaurant doesn't even deserve to be rated.
