Google
Nice bright space; friendly staff; great coffee and made to order sandwiches, salads and pasta; plus beer, wine & some groceries. I'd be in here all the time if I lived in the hood.

Great coffee, loved their curried chicken sandwich and chicken noodle soup. They also carry good pastries and baked goods.

I've been here twice for lunch and will happily return in the future. Service was great, food was fresh and didn't take too long. The pizza crust was a bit chewy but the perfect thickness and sauce/cheese had great flavor. Half chicken was nice and moist, cooked well. Mac n cheese was the perfect noodle consistency and cheese was good. The Reuben sandwich overall tasted great, but the ratio of meat to kraut should have been swapped. So glad to have this location a short walk from the office!

While visiting from Sacramento, my girlfriend and I decided to pop in to Mainstays on a whim. We got a cookie, drip coffee, iced tea, and two breakfast sandwiches. When we first sipped our drinks, we both looked up and shared an audible “woah” *everything* was the best in its category. The cookie had a unique caramelized texture, savory, not too sweet. The iced tea was surprisingly bold and fragrant, really shined on its own. And the coffee was a much lighter roast than I expected, brewed perfectly to match something I’d expect from Blue Bottle back home. The sandwiches were excellent too but this review is getting too long. Give them a try!

Wandered in here on the way to Chihuly Glass. I got the veggie breakfast sandwich and iced tea, and my partner got the bacon breakfast sandwich, drip coffee, and a chocolate chip cookie. We thought everything was phenomenal!! So fresh and tasted like it was made with quality ingredients. If we weren't just visiting Seattle, this would be a go-to place!

The food in the photo is what we got for $46, no drinks just food. We were surprised that essentially a breakfast sandwich without any sort of side was about $20 each. We also realized that we were overcharged by $2.00 and rather than the manager correcting this for us he said the menu price was wrong and still charged us the higher amount. Not a bad way to lose a customer that lives nearby. To put things into perspective, we went to Corner 8 Bistro on 8th street the day before and got 2 amazing sandwiches with sides and 2 oatmilk chais for $39 total (including a tip). Mainstays is an overpriced convenience store style cafe. There are much better options in the area.

Google
Mainstay is an excellent addition to the Denny neighborhood! I was pressed for time today, but wanted to try one of their veggie breakfast sandwiches with gluten free biscuit, so I placed an order online for pickup. The sandwich was ready in 10 minutes and pickup was a breeze! Love the atmosphere inside - I'll definitely be frequenting this place during the week when I'm in-office.

Google
My friend encouraged me to check it out, their specials are delicious. Especially as a cortado! Very impressed and will continue to be back. Great selection of pastries with a twist, and they have a market too.

Yelp
I want to start with the fact that this place is clearly very popular for lunch and really well run. The server at the counter was great and very friendly. My drink was quite good and ready quickly too. My main drawback is that I asked for oat milk and if they had any dairy free bakery and they gave me one of the brownies they said was vegan. About 45 minutes after a few bites of the brownie and finishing the drink, I had a reaction that made me think that something about my order was not dairy free, probably the brownie. Thankfully my dairy allergy is just annoying vs more serious, and I always carry my enzymes in case. I should have checked the label in the case myself to confirm it really was vegan, but it was an accident or mistake, which happens. I would definitely go back as the drink was tasty and I'm confident it was made with oat milk as I can taste the difference always if it isn't, but definitely will be double checking any food if I order it again. The brownie was really tasty for the few bites I had before doubting it, so I gave it to my partner to enjoy later, but he didn't think it tasted like a vegan brownie either. Anyways, I think it's a cute set up with lots of potential for all meals and both coffees and cocktails later on, which is cool and there's a little market you can shop at too. Perfect for grab and go like what I did but also good for eating in with plenty of tables. Just double check your own labels if you have allergies.

Yelp
I finally squeezed in a visit to the to the South Lake Union location. I've been to the Ballard location a number of times. I was headed to Farestart for dinner so I just had a chamomile tea. Service was friendly as soon as I entered. I chose to drink my tea there was a lovely touch that it was brought to my table I was prepared to go to the counter. Nice space lots of natural light. It was around 4:30 when I visited on a Thursday and there were a few groups sitting and talking while enjoying there purchases was nice to see.

Yelp
Omg so excited for Mainstay to finally come to Downtown! I've heard great things so I've been wanting to try it out. Today they did a promotion for their opening - they're giving away 400 of their famous cookies! These things are heavenly with some type of amazing chocolate and the perfect amount of sea salt. I could eat them all day. I also picked up a Spiced Pear Latte, which was nice and creamy, but didn't taste too much like spiced pear. I hear their soft serve machine isn't ready yet but I'll be back to try that and their sandwiches! Loving the vibe of the place, it's great for picking up a quick bite or browsing for some international groceries.

Yelp
The service was wonderful, the food however was a bit of a miss. I got a breakfast sandwich and a half Mac n cheese - the sandwich was over $9 and was lack lustre at best . They have a thick and small pork patty over an egg with an English muffin - I enjoy the basics but for $9?? I'd probably have a better time having the local crackhead cook me up a sandwich and it'd be cheaper- Pork patty too thick and not wide enough , also sandwich is just not worth $9 The mac n cheese is okay..

Yelp
I've been a couple times for their baked goods, which are generally pretty tasty (the poppyseed muffin was my favorite). The main reason for my negative review is the pricing, which is pretty high even for SLU standards; none of the baked goods are under 4.50$ from what I saw. The cafe itself is kind of empty feeling, but the staff are adequate and nice.

Yelp
We live in the neighborhood and it's become a staple for all of us in the area. Great high end groceries and we stop by almost daily with our kiddo for coffee, slice of pizza, or sandwhich. Service is always friendly and coffee is good. They also have a nice simple brunch on weekends. Love having this spot in the area!

Yelp
We ordered a latte and a flat white and both were undrinkable. The flat white had a brunt taste and the latte tasted watered down.
