Google
Its a great restaurant for a date night or night out with friends for elevated dinner. they did reduce the menu down from what I remember. The food is still really good and the service was extremely attentive. Just an FYI, make sure to bring cash or personal check.

Google
Probably the best fine dining restaurant in Baton Rouge. The food is excellent and there’s a very cozy, romantic atmosphere. Would recommend it to anyone.

Google
An absolutely perfect experience! Everything about Maison Lacour is top notch: the comfortable setting in this lovely little house, the food from start to finish, and attentive but nonintrusive service. This should be one on everybody’s splurge list for Baton Rouge. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

Google
Maison Lacour is by far the best French restaurant in Baton Rouge. The food is always superb and the service is impeccable. Dining at Maison Lacour is like a delightful trip to France. Call well ahead for reservations, these guys stay booked up and for good reason.

Chef Michael Jetty is a wizard of Parisian cuisine! He and his wife Eva single handily create an elegant dining experience. Serving only a dozen guests in one evening, it’s like attending a personal chef’s dinner with exquisite food, drink, service and ambiance in a cozy and quaint cottage. Eva is a wonderful host, taking care of the “front-of-house” while Chef Michael creates excellent meals. Starting with a lovely bread service and cocktails, this is truly an experience. The wine list of mainly French and California wines was concise and inclusive. The entrees were on point. Conrad du Chef-marinated duck breast with Raspberry sauce and Crâbe Royale- crab meat in Thermidore sauce were both excellent. Bon Appetite!

French music and the aroma of rich sauces hit you when you walk in. My wife and I had a lovely dinner here for our second anniversary. The Quail and Lamb Chops were delicious.

This little French restaurant is such a gem! The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, perfect for a quiet night with someone special or a few close friends. The food is absolutely incredible—every dish is packed with flavor, and the service is friendly and spot-on. Honestly, it’s a 10/10 experience all around.

Google
As sweet and special and intimate as you could get if you’re looking for an anniversary spot for two or a formal setting for out of town friends (4). It’s small space but she cooks everything herself and serves a max of three tables per night. So make sure you are ready for an experience and not just another restaurant. This little gem really is special. And her fresh baked bread is divine.

Yelp
Very quaint experience. I took my daughter here for her birthday . The food was good of course pricey but we knew that going in . It was a special occasion.

Horace M.

Yelp
It's been about five years since we've dined here . It was fabulous then and remains so today . A Baton Rouge icon.

Yelp
Too many 5 star reviews for me to keep silent. Took my mom and dad here two years ago for mine and her birthday. First, texting for reservations? Neither of my parents have smartphones. Secondly, cash only? I realize that credit card companies and/or banks charge a fee, but give me a choice and I'll pay it. Don't know what her day had been like, but we were not greeted warmly by the hostess. Nor was she pleasant for the rest of the evening. When trying to decide on an entree and asking her recommendation, we were told "everything is good." Not the question. The food was good - only good. I had two cocktails and we shared a dessert. With tip (not sure why daddy even bothered), it was almost $200.

Yelp
Quaint, intimate and upscale is what I expected from this (the only?) French restaurant in Baton Rouge. It's upscale for sure, but when I went it was anything but quaint and intimate. We were seated next to a very large party and they were quite rowdy, loud and obnoxious. I was so unimpressed with what should have been a romantic dinner that it truly soured the experience for me. I've waited to write this review for a while because of it. They seemed to be a full capacity, so asking for another table was out of the question. It's not all bad, though. I was delighted with my entree (John's Favorite) especially the puff pastry filled with lump crab and shrimp and that bread basket was truly to die for. If you're celebrating a special occasion like an anniversary or birthday and want to have a quiet/romantic dinner I would definitely mention that when making reservations.

Yelp
Dined in Friday 7-29-2022. The atmosphere and service was excellent. The food was fabulous. Starting with the mouth watering bread, had a crab based soup appetizer that was excellent. Salad and dressing was so good. I had the lamb which was the best I have eaten in years. Perfect. Wife had a spicy shrimp cream sauce dish on angel hair pasta. She cleaned the plate. The deserts were perfect and the wine was . They only have one seating so you take your time and enjoy your ex I can't wait to return. No credit cards. Cash or check.

Yelp
We loves dining at Maison Lacour so much. Such a cute, quaint, QUIET, French restaurant! Perfect for an intimate date night. All of the food was AMAZING, and what makes it even better is the husband and wife who own and run the business. Text to reserve your spot as early as possible because they stay booked.

Yelp
Went here for my boyfriend's birthday and had an absolutely delicious meal! Everything was prepared well and the service was very attentive. I forgot to take pictures of our starters but they were also delicious. Only downside keeping it from a 5 star is it's cash only and it's definitely a European feel as we were dining for 2.5 hours. Come hungry and expect to be there for a while but overall amazing and worth it!

Yelp
February 2021 - mask worn by all; social distancing enforced. Text Eva to make reservations. Romantic, white table cloth tables. Beautiful place to get engaged. Eva was wonderful to work with. Texted her for a reservation and was very responsive. Food outstanding and worth every penny.

Yelp
Wonderful food, incredibly romantic, fabulous wine list, and the best service. Don't dither. Make a reservation and go!

Yelp
Best food in town! Best service too!! Unique Ambiance of this house/restaurant is wonderful.

Yelp
Excellent food and service The crabmeat and flounder were delicious, and the restaurant is lovely. I hope more people "discover" it

Yelp
The food is outstanding. Service is excellent. I like the quaint French cottage feeling of the restaurant. Very nice.

Yelp
Nice, unique restaurant that is great for a special night. The place is small and quiet- great for a date night. It is on the expensive side but that's ok for special occasions. We had duck pate, lamb, seafood crepe, chocolate cake, and the walnut cake. The pate was just ok but everything else was cooked and seasoned well. The mustard sauce with the lamb was well balanced - it had an acid element that most pan sauces are missing. Even the salad included with the meals was delicious. I'd go back here for a future special occasion. Definitely get reservation.

Yelp
Quiet, homey ambiance with even better food and people! Great for a date night. Reservations only!

Yelp
Probably one of the best dining experiences I have had in Baton Rouge. Food is amazing and the service was attentive and helpful. The whole vibe is intimate but not stuffy. We got the escargot and the soup as appetizers and we both very happy with our choices. For main course I had the wild boar with a mushroom sauce which was dynamite and my wife had the seafood crepe which was really good. We felt like we absolutely had to get a soufflé for desert but debated on if each needed one. I was very glad that we decided to get a chocolate and a lemon. We ate every bit of it. This is definitely a special occasion type place, but for the quality and experience, I found it very reasonably priced.

Yelp
I'd give Maison Lacour 3 1/2 stars. It's in a very quaint house but located in a not-so-great area of Baton Rouge but that's just a sign of the changing times since they opened. Service was excellent. Restaurant was very very quiet. If you're looking for a good atmosphere to talk and drink- this may not be the place. We had the 7 pm seating and by 9- the restaurant was completely empty on a Saturday night Food was good but I don't think it's anything to die for. We spent $400 with tip for 4 people. I just think you can have a much better meal elsewhere for the price. Would love to see them add more Flavor into their dishes. Food was a little bland.

Yelp
Maison Lacour is a traditional French restaurant run by a French family presented in a tiny house. It's so cute and sweet. But don't let all this cuteness trick you, this is not a place to take lightly- the food is prepared with the highest levels of detail. And as you might expect, there is a price to match. You just feel fancy eating here. Personally I almost always get the filet forestière, which is a nice size filet with mushrooms and sauce on top. After having a steak here, no other place can compare. If you want to try the soufflé (and trust me, you do), make sure to let your server know early because it takes 30 minutes to prepare. I also recommend reservations and try out the early bird menu which they have from 5:30-6:30; it comes with 4 courses for a lower set price. I love Maison Lacour!

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Lovely, intimate atmosphere where you feel like family and true guests. The service and pacing is impeccable. I loved everything, but the seafood soup and filet Béarnaise were true standouts.

Adrianne D.

Yelp
Super sweet and attentive staff members. Very charming and quiet. Bathroom was very clean, and the food came out at a reasonable time. Definitely will be going back to try their other options!

Yelp
Best restaurant in Baton Rouge and it's really not close, in my opinion. Just about everything I've ever ordered here, from the lamb to the duck to the steaks, have been exceptional. It's quaint, romantic, and perfect for a date night. Service is always top-notch. Truly a hidden gem.

Gloria B.

Yelp
Madison Lacour has been apart of the Baton Rouge French cuisine since 1986. Words of advice. If you haven't tried it you are missing out. Amazing dining experience. Oh yeah dessert. Bread Pudding is to die for.

Brenda K.

Yelp
Haven't been there in a little bit, had taken my mother there for her birthday. Very authentic French food, will prepared. At the time I had gone they had a set menu price which was very reasonable for what was included and very delicious

Yelp
This place looks like something out of a romantic movie scene! The restaurant is a little cottage/house that was transformed into this quaint French restaurant. The interior is charming and has this peacefulness ambience; light yellow wall with various framed French paintings and posters. The seating areas are a bit smaller and intimate. I love how the sunlight flows past the white window drapes! The three of us shared a fabulous platter of venison sausage paired with a poached apple in cinnamon & nutmeg; and their smoked salmon w/ their own crostini. I absolutely enjoyed the sausage. It has this Asian influence taste to it. We also had their jacqueline soup (creamy Brie w/ lumps of crab) and their creamy crawfish soup. The crawfish soup had a hint of citrus flavor to it that I wasn't used it. Although both soup was made with cheese, the flavor and texture was light. They also offer freshly baked French style breads. Literally FRESH and warm out of the oven! Main courses: patè chaud, salmon cakes and seafood crepes. The patè chaud's crust was nice and flaky, and the meat inside was very savory. The salmon cake (think of a crab cake, but made with salmon instead) was cooked to perfection! I ordered the seafood crepes and wasn't too impress with it. I felt the creamy sauce they topped the crepe was missing a bit of something. For dessert, we ordered their chocolate soufflé...topped with amaretto liquor. This was my first soufflé! It was definitely something worth to try! My friend told me that their dinner menu has more to offer than their lunch. Definitely wouldn't mind another visit in the near future.

Yelp
Probably the best restaurant in Baton Rouge!! I can't imagine many other restaurants in the area being better than Maison Lacour. It is a small, quiet, and relatively unknown place. My friend told me to meet her yesterday evening early for dinner b/c they have an early dinner menu that is only $28 for a 4-course meal. Otherwise the dinner menu is expensive ($30-40 per entree). The service here is first-class. Our server did a wonderful job. We didn't have to ask for much as she was always a step ahead of what was anticipated. Everything we had was truly delicious and amazing!! Had the soup Jacqueline (the best soup I've had in a long time). This soup is made with crabmeat, asparagus, and brie cheese! For my entree I had the Pork Tenderloin whch was topped with a raspberry sauce. The pork was very tender and flavorful. My friend had the Crawfish Baton Rouge. I tried some of my friend's dish and it was sooo good. The cream sauce was perfect and not too salty. The desserts were both delicious (white chocolate bread pudding and chocolate mousse). Amazing food, perfect ambiance, and wonderful service!

Yelp
*Quaint, charming nook of a restaurant built in a former 1920-ish cottage-styled home *Attentive, cordial staff you can trust to explain the menu or make recommendations *Every dish delicately seasoned such that the parts complement the cohesive whole, and such that every natural flavor was distinct We ordered on a cold January night: *(Complementary baguette with personal butter crock--truth told, I could easily make a meal of only this if put to test...) --Soupe St. Tropez--Rich seafood broth with crab meat and shrimp (companion raved about the flavors) --Soupe Jacqueline--Velouté of brie cheese with crab meat and asparagus (incredible taste without being overly creamy--the crab and asparagus pop forth with flavor and texture from the velvety backdrop) *(Entrees come with a delightful prelude of salad of fresh romaine or green leaf lettuce, toasted pecans, pickled (?) red onion slivers in perhaps a lemon or very dilute/light cider-based vinaigrette as well as a side of perfectly cooked vegetables) --Côte de Veau--Veal chop, cognac flambé and sautéed with cream and mushrooms (companion actually finished this generously portioned chop, said it was amazing) --Canard du Chef--Broiled marinated breast of duck served sliced with raspberry sauce (The raspberry sauce was fantastic with the mouth-watering, flavorful duck without obscuring its inherently indulgent profile. The portion was beyond gracious) --White Chocolate Bread Pudding with whiskey butterscotch sauce and coffee (I'd call it a perfect finish.) After this three-hour plus un-rushed and decadent dinner, we felt like we had been swaddled and rocked in a culinary cradle--such was our first dining experience. We hope to soon return.

Yelp
BATON ROUGE: Just had a lovely little lunch at a quaint, sophisticated and classy little upcoming French restaurant. Service and Ambience: (5 stars). Waitstaff was awesome in this white linen little restaurant tucked into the trees. FOOD Soupe Jacqueline: (4 stars): Brie cheese soup with lump crab and asparagus. Very savory, not overpowering with any particular flavor over another. Not thick like a chowder, but a thin, fairly smooth consistency. Pâté Chaud: (4 stars) Pork and mushroom pâté, baked into a puff pastry and bathed in this sweet port wine Madeira sauce. Simply put, it tastes like a ground beef and mushroom pot pie. The sauce was pretty good. White Chocolate Bread Pudding (4 star): This was a warm, delicious little brea pudding. The sauce was good, as was the consistency, moist and dense enough. I didn't get a heavy white chocolate taste, would have liked more of it, but it was good. House Salad (4 star: Yummy vinaigrette and delicious walnuts.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Baton Rouge! Small menu so I recommend reviewing prior to making reservations, but wonderful food with an intimate dining experience.

Yelp
I first ate at this restaurant many years ago when my wife and I were still dating. While visiting Baton Rouge we were asked where we'd like to meet friends for dinner and I asked about "that French restaurant in the little old house." Our local friends immediately knew the name and remarked how it had been some time since they had been to Maison Lacour and were eager to return. We met there and I was excited to have another opportunity to eat there. We visited on a Wednesday evening and it was a bit quiet so we had very attentive and helpful service. We had appetizers for the table and I absolutely loved the escargot. I'm not a big fan of pâté but the rest of the table loved it. The venison sausage was tasty and the mustard they served with it was a good match. I thought the salad they served before my entrée was delicious. It was appropriately sized but I wished there had been a little more in the serving just because I really enjoyed the flavors. I had a difficult time selecting my dish given the attractiveness of all the items on the menu. I ordered the wild boar which comes with a cream sauce and mushrooms. Personally, I prefer a bit of a savory and gamey flavor and found the cream sauce knocked those flavors down a bit much for me giving it a sweeter personality. I still enjoyed the dish very much but if you don't care for the more savory type of dish then you may enjoy this dish more than I. My wife and I split a chocolate soufflé and I would rate it as just OK. It was technically perfect but was a little on the light side from a flavor perspective. In the future I would probably explore other dessert options. Overall we had a wonderful evening. Good, attentive service. Excellent meal, overall, and about what I would expect to pay for a fine dinner. Everyone enjoyed the evening and there were zero complaints from any of the other diners at our table.

Joe P.

Yelp
We keep coming back whenever possible. This is a real find in a city over-populated with Cajun and fast food restaurants. It's French and a big notch above anything and everything in the area. We've tried everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. Ignoring our desire for the last wonderful menu item enjoyed, we always try something new, in which we have never disappointed. Their wine list is excellent and sure to satisfy with a wonderful meal on every visit. Mason Lacour will always be our first choice in Baton Rouge.

Yelp
We were huge fans of Maison Lacour for many many years. It was missed when we moved away. The good pics look just as fantastic as when we were there 25 years ago. It's a wonderful place. Full of wonderful memories.
google avatar

Rosemary G.

Yelp
Call ahead and make a reservation. It was a bit difficult to find due to trees up front. If you are using goggle to get there, slow down or you'll miss it. Great ambience in converted home to restaurant. Waitstaff was attentive and sweet. French bread was amazing...Very difficult to resist. Seafood crepe was tres bien. All the ingredients were fresh. Creme brulee had lightly sweet crewmembers with a mild citrus zest flavor.

Yelp
Incredible service, incredible vibe, off the charts food! This is the best restaurant in town!!

Yelp
Had an Anniversary dinner here after a recommendation from a colleague of mine. I wanted to try something different and this was right up our alley. I've probably driven past this place a hundred times and I'm glad we were able to try this place out. It looks like a little home and it was very cozy and welcoming inside. The service was great and I believe one of the owners may be the head of the floor there. She was always around making sure everyone was ok which is always nice to see. The food was pretty good although I'd probably try something different if I had the opportunity. Lamb was well executed, ravioli was good as well as the escargot. We will visit again. Will definitely visit again.
google avatar

Randy B.

Yelp
Go ahead and do yourself a favor and come to this wonderful restaurant. By far one of our favorite restaurants in the country. This was our third visit but not our last. Each visit we have tried a different entrée, never disappointed. Whatever you do, don't forget to order the soufflé early, it takes 30 minutes.

Elen C.

Yelp
A super special night at a super special place. I've heard about this restaurant for a few years and have not had the opportunity before now to go. We went as a double date celebrating our anniversaries. Sadly we got ZERO pictures but everything was amazing. I got the redfish en papillote and a Pinot noir. Everything from presentation to taste was superb. My friend got the sweat bread dish and loved it. Hands down the creme brulee was the best dessert but the mango sorbet ran a close second! Ambiance was lovely, although I don't remember any music. Temperature was nice and everything was fresh and clean. Adored my experience!
google avatar

Jeffrey D.

Yelp
There are a few life events that occur when splurging on a pricey meal is 100% acceptable. My wife and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary here and the food and experience were nothing short of amazing. The restaurant is nestled away near Sherwood Forest Blvd and Interstate 12. Truly fitting of the name Maison as its actually a house with little rooms for dining. Classic French cuisine in a perfect setting. I look forward to returning this year for another anniversary dinner...

Yelp
Tres tres magnifique! This place blew my mind. I found Maison Lacour mostly by accident: my family came to visit Baton Rouge and we wanted somewhere with great food that we hadn't tried yet. Maison Lacour was listed on the pricier end, but had fantastic reviews. And with good reason! Now we have been back a second time, and I can tell you it's just as good--if not better--when knowing exactly what to expect when you walk through the doors. The service is impeccable, the atmosphere is both relaxed and comfortable as well as feeling high-class. It really is like you stepped through a door into the real French roots of la Louisiane. Those commenting on the slow service may not have known that this is how restaurants with several courses work. It is supposed to be relaxed time to enjoy your friends or family--the waitress is far from inattentive: Neither our wine glasses nor our waters were ever empty. I have nothing but good to say about the service. The Food: The Shrimp Ravioli was so fantastic that we ordered it as our appetizer on both trips. The Escargot is as good as any you'll find in France. The house salad and vinaigrette is delicious. It's got pickled red onions (don't knock them until you've tried them if you think you don't like onions in your salad, both my husband and I feel that way about raw onions in our salads, but not so with these!), walnuts. Since we had four people dining each time, we got to taste many things on the menu. Personally, I had Carré d'Agneau (lamb rack) the first time and Sweetbread the second time--the sweetbread is probably the best thing I've ever put into my mouth. Other dishes our party got over the two trips included: John's Favorite (it was awesome!), Steak au Poivre (it was very good, but the other more traditionally Southern France dishes still knocked it out of the park), Flounder En Papillote, Wild Boar Chops, Crevettes Baton Rouge (spicy shirmp over angel hair pasta), and Rock Dove. As you can see, we tried a wide variety on the menu, and it was all very very good. Open your mind to possibilities, and try a little something from France! FYI: The Eva Special Chocolate Martini is absolutely to die for. Try it and you won't be disappointed. It somehow tastes like actual chocolate cake.
google avatar

Tina C.

Yelp
What a rare find! The food is delicious, and very reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is very relaxing. I loved it how we didn't feel rushed to place our order, and had time to just sit down and enjoy our drinks first. That was a nice change from most restaurants that rush you in and out the door. We will definitely be going there again!
google avatar

Darla N.

Yelp
Very quaint and intimate dining with linen tablecloths and fantastic service. An eclectic menu of a mixture of French Cajun cuisine does not disappoint. If you're a bread eater, you will have to pull yourself away from the bread basket. The soups are delicious and seasoned to perfection. My fave is the St Tropez. Trying to get out of my comfort zone, on my last visit I ordered the pork tenderloin with raspberry sauce and wild rice. While it was a change for me I can't say I would order it again. The lunch portions are large and filling and well worth the price. The white chocolate bread pudding is amazing and probably the best in town. The creme brûlée is another no brainer.
google avatar

Katie Q.

Yelp
Maison is like a transporting Bed and Breakfast with a truly elevated dining experience. The staff is lovely and each room is awash with southern charm and taste. My duck was mind blowing and while the portion was generous, I ate every bite- greedily. The location is clearly not the fault of the owners as it is much like the movie "Up" where the little old man refuses to sell his home to the skyscraper developers eclipsing his neighborhood. Maison is transporting once inside, but is quite literally surrounded by office parks on a busy road. The mismatch does not bother your taste buds one iota however and I would return here happily. I only mention the location because one might mistakenly judge this gem unfairly due to it's neighbors, and I'd hate for anyone to miss out on that duck. Ooooweeee.
google avatar

Rainey R.

Yelp
Came for early bird dinner which starts at 5:30pm. But it's 5:41pm on a Wednesday and they're CLOSED! This would've been my first time trying Maison Lacour and I was really looking forward to experiencing authentic French cuisine. I won't be back!
google avatar

Jonathan L.

Yelp
Whenever I go to Boucherie in NO, I always say to myself this is NO's Maison Lacour French Restaurant. Maison Lacour French Restaurant is that damn good. The servers are attentive and the waiting time is short. I would recommend Maison's Early Diners Special (30 dollars for a four course meal). I have a feeling Lisa J. will give this restaurant at least a four star rating.
google avatar

Cornel P.

Yelp
The food is good and cooked to perfection. I do add a little salt and pepper though. The service is the best. The setting is very nice also. I like to buy a bottle of their salad dressing every now and then. It's some of the best salad dressing I ever had.

Gwen G.

Yelp
My husband took me to dine here for the evening and we had the most wonderful experience. The ambiance was beautiful and the food was divine. I ordered the Pâté Maison, Carré d'Agneau, and Soufflé for dessert. It was perfection to say the least. Bravo!
google avatar

Yelp
The best goddamn French restaurant in Baton Rouge. Good wine selection, awesome food. Painstakingly selected ingredients, carefully prepared and lovingly presented. Its a house, and yeah a little hard to locate. But once you are seated, you will be blown away by the food. I'm impressed...
google avatar

Susan F.

Yelp
OK this is a late review. I can't believe this place is still in business. Quaint yes. Old school French, oh yeah. Food, uh, can be mediocre to great, but is inconsistent, so take your chances. Menu, tends to be the same. Now, for the service. Ahem, if you are seated by someone who recognizes another table of her favorite peeps, fuhgettaboutit. You will be left in the dust begging for orders, and service, and drinks, and food. Very rude. I will never return, even though my husband, who gave a teeny tiny tip of a penny out of anger, actually wants to go back for the food. We should have walked out.

Tom C.

Yelp
Outstanding food and service. This is the best restaurant we've found in BR. Highly recommend the redfish en papillote.
google avatar

GINNY A.

Yelp
Quaint tucked away cottage with French cuisine in a quiet atmosphere with white tablecloths and impeccable service. I recommend the carb, shrimp, asparagus crepe with roasted potatoes and carrot, house salad, warm bread with individual pot de burre. When you place your entree order, i recommend you order the souffle dessert which will be ready to enjoy at the end of your meal. It's perfect for two ladies to split- or not! This is a favorite date spot, ladies' luncheon, mother, daughter, or lunch out with grandmother. Be sure the next generation knows how to eat in fine dining and appreciate delectable food!

Yelp
Tres Magnifique. Stopped in with a small group for desserts and an impromptu birthday party. I had the Crepes Suzette and they were splendid, suffused with warm orange liqueur. I only wish they would have served it flambe at the table to entertain the other guests in the dimly lit dining room. But no matter. All desserts were served with great efficiency by the pleasant and accommodating staff. They even served us an extra piece of dessert for the entire table to sample--their white chocolate bread pudding with whiskey butterscotch. Yum, yum, yum. The place was fairly busy for a night on which LSU football was on the television! One table of about 18 (yes, 18 around one table, it took up an entire dining room!), clearly was dominating the attention of the bustling waitstaff. Yet our servers were not at all flummoxed by our unusual request for desserts only, were eager to please, and gladly took photos of our party. There is a reason this jewel box of a restaurant has been getting rave reviews for decades.
