The 20 Best Bakeries In Paris 2024

"Louvard’s claim to fame is the crookie, the viral croissant-cookie hybrid that’s been replicated by every corner bakery from Paris to Phoenix. But Louvard’s is the GOAT regardless, thanks to their exquisite butter croissants, which are skinnier than many of their competitors and give you the perfect crispy bite from beginning to end. They’re stuffed with cookie dough and just barely rebaked, and the result is a gut bomb that's impossible to finish without being within stumbling distance from a sofa—not that that should stop you from trying. But locals return here again and again for their other viennoiseries, like the apple chausson sprinkled with raw cane sugar and filled with applesauce, or the fruity chocolate éclair—probably Paris’ best. It’s tempting to enjoy your treats at a table in the adjoining dining room. But be warned: There’s a hefty markup to soak up these classic Parisian café vibes. " - sara lieberman, emily monaco

Crookie was breathtaking WOW it was so incredibly delicious and satisfying. A must try!! I loved that they had seating, even a bar. The pistachio chocolate croissant was great too, but Crookie was absolutely unforgettable.

Hear me out! Maison Louvard has a delicious offer (they are famous for the crookie: croissant with cookie dough - viral on social media. It's a must-try, but be aware it's very heavy and should be split with someone). I have tried the takeaway option and the dine-in option (breakfast). The surcharge for eating in is not worth it, IMHO. You are very close to other tables, and you can hear everybody's conversations. My advice, for someone that stops here every time they are in town, is to order pastries and bread to take away and enjoy in the hotel or at home. You buy a lot more food for the same price. Recommendation: Be ready to know what to order; this is a very fast-paced place, and the queue goes by quickly.

Crookie was great but a bit oily. Regular croissant was amazing actually. Service in there is really slow when you are seated, the waiters just walk around.

The food was 10/10. The crookie is something I will now think about daily and they have fantastic macchiatos. The layout of the place is a little confusing because the place with the pastries is separated from the actual restaurant/cafe so even though we ordered a coffee and bought the cookies seperately because we thought that’s how it worked the waiter told us we can’t eat them in here and spoke half French half English and very quickly so we couldn’t actually understand what he meant. We did come back the next day for the coffee and I did overhear people just simply ordering the crookie with their drink to the waiter so that’s definitely the way to do it.

Came here to try their famous cookie croissant. It was absolutely amazing. Such perfect consistency: soft, chocolaty, & moist. I dream of this croissant!! I also got their a separate cookie with nuts, delicious!

I had seen this baker on TikTok. It was nothing special. Really nice pastries, but the taste didn't live up to the look. I bought a croissant, which was really nice, but dry at the ends and lacked flavor. The eclair didn't have much flavor in the cream. 12 Eur for croissant, eclair and an iced coffee

I came here because several friends recommended trying it, and I was genuinely excited to check it out. I went with a small group of friends to give it a shot. When I arrived, I must have entered through the wrong side of the bakery. The staff ignored me and served other customers who came in after me. I’ve been to France twice and studied French for several years, so I’m familiar with the culture and usually understand the differences in service norms. I tried to brush it off and went ahead with my order. I was handed the baked goods in a paper bag, with no mention or question of whether I’d like to dine in—even though it was pouring rain and my friends were already seated inside. We also saw some colleagues eating in what looked like a very casual, open seating area with plenty of available space, including couches. Not wanting to eat pastries from a bag, I saw a stack of plates and assumed the cashier had simply forgotten to offer them for dine-in. As soon as I touched the plates, an employee snapped at me and demanded to know what I was doing. I explained, politely, that I was grabbing plates because we were planning to eat in. He scolded me, saying I never said that at the register. I told him no one asked. He snatched the plates from my hands, said he’d go speak to someone, and then… nothing. No follow-up, no seating, nothing. Eventually, my three friends and I gave up and walked back out into the rain—feeling unwelcome and frustrated. To top it off, when we finally ate at home, my redhead friend found a short black hair in her pastry. Gross. Really disappointed in the experience. We were excited to support a place our friends liked, but we were treated poorly and left feeling disrespected. Won’t be returning.

This place is known for inventing the famous Crookie (a croissant + cookie hybrid). After trying versions of it in the USA, I can confidently say none compare to this one. The American versions were a letdown, but this was a delightful surprise. The croissant was perfectly buttery and crispy, while the cookie had a chewy/gooey texture, and a rich chocolate flavor. While the Crookie was delicious, the price is a bit steep, and I hope they can adjust that. The plain croissant was decent, though I wish it had been served warm and fresh out of the oven. Overall, a delicious treat, though a little pricing adjustment would make it even better.
