I rarely write reviews but felt this necessary—Went there to try out some new perfumes. I already have the Beach Walk and wanted to check out the others. The salesperson, Kira was incredibly helpful and warm. Made me feel at home in a luxury store which I don’t often frequent. I was eyeing the Tabis and Kira asked if I wanted to try some styles. Never felt pressured to buy, but rather encouraged to just enjoy the experience. I purchased the « Untitled » perfume and left. Decided to come back 3 weeks later after thinking about the Tabis nonstop. Kira was again there, remembered me and got the Tabis I had liked. They were still amazing so I purchased. They are my first luxury purchase and I’m so happy to have had a great experience, not feeling like a guest, but rather right at home. Kira was fantastic as was the manager, Frankie. Looking forward to my next pair.

Came in during my lunch break on a Friday and I was immediately greeted and helped by Kira (?). She introduced me to the Replica line and was knowledgeable on each of the scents. I purchased a full size bottle of When the Rain Stops and got a few samples. The staff by the door were friendly as well.

Awesome service in store and excellent customer service over a mistake we had made! Store manager was kind enough to process an exchange not processed in store. Thank you!!

Placed an online order in store for a purse. The purse came into my hands with no sticker over the metal pieces, I am pretty sure they sold me a piece that has been returned and was in no condition to be sold again. I tried to return it two weeks later and even through I haven’t worn it, the store manager pointed out scratch marks on the metal pieces and didn’t let me return it. Had I known they were this strict I would’ve asked them to walk me through the details of the purse and vetted it before taking it home. The store manager also called this brand Italian which made me highly doubt the level of training their employees go through. The store manager also said some ridiculous excuse that they expedited shipped this purse from their warehouse in Italy and it costed them $800 and I shouldn’t be returning it given their effort.

Went to this place hoping for some post-sale client-care services for my Tabi boots, which started falling apart after barely six months of wear. Instead, I was greeted by what could only be described as a walking stereotype of a design store salesperson. I think her name was Kira? because that's what her name tag said, though her actual job seemed to be radiating automatic antipathy toward customer service. Bold move, considering her career path. It's almost comical how some folks in these places still cling to the outdated notion that pretentiousness is cool. Didn't we all agree that not taking oneself too seriously is the punk of this era? So, Kira's solution to my quality woes was to suggest I trot my limited-edition Tabi boots off to a cobbler. Maybe she was joking? Maybe it's time for Margiela SF to invest in some basic training for their staff on understanding the craftsmanship behind the brand. After all, isn't that supposed to be one of the heavy-hitting selling points of brands like Maison Margiela, etc? And don't even get me started on Margiela's so-called "warranty" – amateur hour, folks. But hey, that's a whole other can of worms. Long story short, miss me with this clown behavior.

Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Big shout out to Kristof, he was so helpful. He’ll help pick out everything that he thinks will fit.

one of the best experiences i’ve ever had in a designer store. despite the store being pretty busy, the staff were so friendly and patient, pulling multiple sizes and styles for us. they were not pretentious at all, which is not the case for other margiela boutiques. the selection at this store is really amazing too; i normally have trouble finding my size but had no issues here. big big shout out to Kristof especially, they were so warm, friendly, and helpful. overall such an amazing experience. this store might single-handedly bring me back to sf 🥹

This was my first time in the MM SF Store, and it was an absolute joy! The team here are all incredibly friendly and supportive. They don’t push too much on the sale and each offer a unique perspective on their experience with the product. Shoutout to Charlie for helping me get my first Tabi’s :^)

Yelp
imo, this is what designer fashion should be. Fun, experimental, high quality, intentional, special. I don't know a lot about fashion, but my partner had expressed interest in the Replica sneakers and the Tabi boots and because he rarely expresses interesting in anything fashion-related I decided we needed to go ASAP. I perused the website beforehand, checked out the designs, as well as the clothing and bags. Most things seem very high quality; some of the fabrics probably wouldn't suit us, but that's neither here or there because we're not really the right demo for ready to wear anyway. (Although I found everything really interesting and beautiful.) All in all, there's a humbleness and an artistry that I really appreciate about Maison Margiela. There is love in the craft of the pieces, and the house strikes a nice balance between modernness and playfulness. The service was also lovely. Kristof helped us but I believe it was his last day. We feel very lucky to have had the time with him, but the other associates also seemed friendly. My partner tried on a variety of Replica colors and sizes and never once did we feel pressured to buy or otherwise made to feel uncomfortable or out of place. It was the complete opposite of our experience at LV (harrowing) and Saks (grim). But we left with the Replica sneakers and the Tabis and couldn't be more happy. As for me, I fondled the little 5AC tote for about fifteen minutes during the shoe try-ons so that'll go on my wishlist probably.

Yelp
Wonderful people here I was helped out by Justin and Frankie. They were very helpful and let me smell the fragrances. They have a very unique fragrance line and we're very nice and accommodating. The value of the product was very much worth it, especially for its own unique sent. I sprayed it as soon as I got home and completely fell in love with the fragrance that I chose. I will definitely be back soon for more fragrances.

Yelp
I was really surprised to find that there was a Maison Margiela boutique in San Francisco. It's hidden by Bottega Veneta and Fendi in an alleyway that you could easily miss. I ended up coming across it after 30 minutes of wandering the area and was surprised to find that their hours had changed on Sundays to close at 6pm rather than 5pm. I was unsure if the shop was open until I asked to come in. At first, I was intimidated by how professional the store's appearance was, but felt very much welcome by the employees' personalities. Any review will tell you how knowledgeable, kind, and helpful the employees are. Justin helped me find what correct shoe size I should go for when looking at the tabi loafers, even offering personal insight to how loafers should fit. I spent probably 20 minutes in the store talking and ended up leaving feeling really satisfied with my visit. Although he is new, he seemed like a really great fit for the store. Because of him, this is probably the best experience I've ever had with a designer store. I'm looking forward to coming back once the archive sale starts. Thank you Justin!

Yelp
I've been frequenting this store for maybe the past year, mostly buying fragrances and accessories. But the service is great, and the workers are passionate about what they are selling and to helping a customer. The store itself is small and hidden which i love, it's quiet and beautiful inside with great music playing.

Yelp
Went searching for a bday gift for my boyfriend! Kristoff was the BEST- after being judged for appearance/age at other high end luxury brands I was quickly helped and shown plenty of beautiful options, ended up leaving with more than I expected but 10/10 worth every penny. Kristoff is kind, humble and hilarious! His energy and knowledge translates very well. He obviously has high fashion knowledge and could easily read my taste!! So happy he is my new advisor. Thank you Kristoff!!!

Yelp
As someone heavily invested into fashion, finding out Maison Margiela has a store in SF brought great joy and as a frequent customer of the store as of now, I can say the people who work here are ones that who can really represent the brand image and view that Martin Margiela had in mind when he created the brand. My experiences here has made this store one of a kind as someone who visits designer retailers often. Right off the bat, phenomenal location for the store. Maiden Lane is such a beautiful spot for this store and the all white exterior makes it stand out so much more. The selection inside from their current seasons really blends in well with how SF is, with mainstays such as their tabi boots and Replica trainers you're bound to have at least one item that'll stick to you. The star of this location are the employees. Every employee here has been a wonder to talk to as well knowledgeable about the brand. As someone who can get constantly judged stylistic wise by some employees at other retailers and consignments, each employee here has been able to be so open to all styles and walks of life that you're bound to build a connection with at least one of them. All my friends that has been to the store can agree that each employee here has something to bring to the table and makes each trip here special. Overall, SF's Maison Margiela is one of the most unique and special stores with employees that really do care for the brand and fashion as a whole. Every bit and piece of this store is exemplary of what a 5 star retail experience should be. I wholeheartedly believe you cannot receive a shopping experience like this anywhere else.

Yelp
Amazing service from beginning to end. I had ordered jeans online for my son. We picked them up in the store. The staff were welcoming and informative. They offered tailoring services and made suggestions on the length. They let us know about the sales rack in the back of the store so we checked that out as well. Their apparel and other merchandise are all of superior quality.

Lulu H.

Yelp
Tom you were THE best person to work with for our first Tabis -hidden location - no street parking use parking garage - two story location with stairs AND elevator - friendly staff

Paulito O.

Yelp
Both the employees at the store gave us undivided attention for over an hour. They were enthusiastic and extremely well informed about the brand history and piece materials. They took us through every section of the store through fragrances and books and they helped us out and explained what would suit based upon individual styles. The finest employees. We left fully satisfied and complete with the purchases.

Yelp
Very excited to go in to buy my husbands first pair of tabi boots; however, the staff was rude and insulted my mother in law multiple times. Assumed we spoke mandarin because we were Chinese presenting, and when I calmly told him at the end that he had insulted us he got offended and defensive. Will never be going back and will not be buying from such an expensive, appropriative, and low quality franchise. Shame.

Yelp
Usually have a feeling of employees judging at boutiques and this happens to be one of the very very few that have made me feel welcomed and were happy to talk about Margiela and other designers work. Unlike other stores where eyes are on you at all times, they give you the experience to actually shop around on your own but make you feel attended for. Makes me want to purchase the Tabi boots even more!

Brooke B.

Yelp
Everyone was so kind and welcoming!! Charlie helped me buy my first pair of Tabis and was INCREDIBLE. Thank you!!

Yelp
Amazing clothes and fantastic service. I wanted a specific blazer and trousers for my wedding, they had the blazer in stock, but they were out of the trousers. Somehow and somewhere they found the exact trousers I wanted and I was able to get the suit tailored in time for the wedding. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I like Margiela but the customer service at this location is awful. It was the complete opposite of the experience that I had at the Beverly Hills Margiela store.

Lisa H.

Yelp
I always just wait till I'm in Europe to buy Margiela! Or online. Had no idea there was a store in SF all this time! Such nice, helpful people. Fun purses, shoes and tops to shop here on Maiden lane. So many great, very wearable items in stock right now!

Jocelyn B.

Yelp
In a world of basic retail experiences the staff here go over and beyond because they know shopping is most fun when it's more than just shopping. I love Margiela for it's unique, deconstructed tailored pieces. They have great end of season mark downs and the new collection of bags is incredible. In addition to finding treasures, you'll also see fashion as art, as it should be!

Cindy H.

Yelp
I bought a pair of Replicas from the San Francisco store. At the time they were $500, the cost is now is $540. In 9 months, they were falling apart. I wore them almost daily in a city environment. I sent photos to the store and it was determined that the shoes were not defective! I have $50 shoes that have lasted years! The store was only willing to give me 20% discount. Worst customer service I have ever had. I should have been given a new pair of shoes. Don't buy these shoes!

Alex D.

Yelp
Great brand. But the San Francisco store in unfortunately really bad customer service and a poor image for this brand.

Bruno V.

Yelp
Super friendly staff specially Veronika. After buying she wrote me an email to say how nice it was. She showed me everything and they have a great selection of pieces from the collection. I found a candle that is sold out in other stores there!!! You can also find all the perfumes there. I cannot wait for coming back again for a shopping day with Veronika.

Mia C.

Yelp
came to try out a few of their fragrances OMG the Tea Escape is wonderful (maybe next time) but ended up with a small bottle of their original eau de parfum instead since I was looking for a greener scent today - so gorgeous! feels like I just took a tumble on a carpet of fallen leaves in the middle of a forest during a nature hike in autumn BTW Sara is very nice and helpful

Yelp
Not for the faint of heart, that's for sure. Unique patterns, wild colors, and bizarre shapes and cuts are a hallmark of Maison Margiela, and the new San Francisco store really reflects that. It's off-kilter and fun, even though the prices certainly aren't. There's no pretension in the service here, everyone is friendly and willing to chat about the brand. And while some of the styles are "out there", my picky ass actually found a few things to like. Some of the neatest touches: - the fragrance bar is "held up" by mismatched chairs, like an Alice in Wonderland tea party. - fragrances are spritzed onto prison-style ID bracelets for your wrist. As my SA quipped, "you're the maison's now." - the rail on the stairs to the second floor (womenswear) are wrapped in bandages. - all of the astoundingly-friendly employees wear lab coats.

Yelp
As I'm moving to the area in the near future, I decided to take a day of exploring the city and checking out all the streetwear and fashion boutiques in the 3-mile radius. One of my friends is a loyal client to Maison Margiela, and although I have never personally looked into Margiela myself, I decided to check out the boutique here in San Francisco. The experience and feeling I got upon entering the store was very similar to how I felt when I walked into Rick Owens in Los Angeles. It's extremely different from any other boutique or designer store in the area - in terms of artistic direction and customer service. I love shopping, but a couple of my pet peeves when going to a boutique are: associates who are "too cool" to approach clients or smile & associates who are officious or too pushy. Maison Martin Margiela's pieces and the team that work there are confident enough in their brand and themselves to just... be. They don't try to be something they are not, and the customer service experience was very genuine. When I entered today, I was greeted by the Store Director: Abe. He truly is passionate about the boutique, the client experience, and extremely knowledgeable about every piece. One thing I love about fashion is the artistic aspect - the inspiration, the thought behind each piece, where the material is sourced from, etc. I straight up didn't know anything about Maison Margiela, but Abe was cool enough to answer my questions and took the time to tell me about the history of Margiela, the inspiration behind each piece, and the construction techniques. I was genuinely curious, and because of Abe and his knowledge... I am actually quite intrigued by Margiela. Before I purchase something, I'm the type of person to do extensive research and truly understand what the designer/brand/maison is about. Abe was excited to tell me all about it. It is very refreshing to be able to meet and talk to people who are passionate about where they work, what they wear, and genuinely care about their clients. If you want quality items (ranging from fragrances, to money clips, to ready-to-wear, and shoes) from a team that obviously cares about their clients, while immersing yourself in a unique experience... take a step inside.

Alissa M.

Yelp
Literally the nicest sales associates ever. I am a fan of the quirky, high end fashion brand with a sense of humor known as Margiela. We came in off the street to browse with my mom. Didn't buy anything. We weren't looking fancy. None the less, they catered to my every whim. They even had my mom try on the "touch me" jacket and it made my mom feel really special. The associate that was helping us was a beautiful, brown haired man- if I could remember his name I would totally put it here but I don't. He was just such a pleasure to browse the store with. I will most definitely return to this lovely shop on one of my favorite streets in SF.

Yelp
i like the staff uniform, a lot :) they have crossover with mykita sunglasses. feather lightweight that even forgot wearing 'em
