20 Best Culinary Experiences and Food Tours in Paris

"Plisson specializes in artisanal items that reduce waste, eschewing mass-market food (and indulging the growing expectation for transparent sourcing) for some 3,000 products, 80 percent of which are French. The fresh market highlights the talents of leading food artisans from France, from locally grown produce from Alexia Charraire of the Comptoir des Producteurs to specialty coffee served in the café from Parisian roaster Terres de Café. You’ll also find a selection of Roellinger spices exclusively sold here." - Catherine Down, Lindsey Tramuta

The Best Shops for Food Souvenirs in Paris | Eater

"A hybrid grocery and cafe that curates the best products from smaller French producers, selling travel-friendly regional specialties such as antibiotic- and nitrate-free Prince de Paris ham and sturdy cheeses (Comté, Beaufort, Gruyere, Emmentaler) that are commonly vacuum-packed for transport." - Ajiri Aki

They are so rude. I went to the cafe to have coffee and the server (a woman) said it’s lunch time , you can’t sit here if you will only have coffee. Their loss- they lost a good customer who would have come back again later for a meal if they had given good service , as it’s next to my hotel in Marais.

Whenever I am in Paris I always bisit Maison Plisson. The food, atmosphere and service are exceptional. Prices are reasonable and menus, seasonal. Highly recommended

Regarding the restaurant, the food is good but the service is terrible. I used to recommend it but the last time I went the waiter was so rude to us that we decided to leave. It doesn't hurt to smile ;)

This is not a hotel. This is a gourmet grocery and café - with a Dean & Deluca vibe. Now that we have that settled, I would highly recommend buying your cheeses and meats here. I’ve been coming here for six years and the duck pate is so good that it’s weep-worthy. They have a lower level where you can buy pantry items and other sundries. I love it. Every now and then, I treat myself to a brunch in their little café. Well it’s a little more expensive here, the quality is exceptional. Would highly recommend it.

Google
I read this place on the largest Paris blog, not disappointed, fresh ceasar sald and home made lemonade 👌🏻the only downside is next to an avenue with traffic boise if you sit outside

The brunch was lovely! I very much recommend it! The quiche and butter selection were the standouts! I will say the croissants leave a little to be desired but maybe it was an off day. Totally worth it! Especially to try several things!

Yelp
Oh boy, this is place is abso-freaking-lutely AMAZING. As far as I am concerned, Maison Plisson is a solid contender for both the best breakfast spot in Paris and the best baked good served. It's that good. The first time I discovered this place was with a friend who lived in Paris and who wanted to thank me for helping him out in a tough situation. I didn't think much at first - by Paris standards it is located a bit in the middle of nowhere, but the terrace looked nice and the internal decoration were tasteful. While the service was a tad rough (not uncommon in Paris), the second croissants and escargot aux raisins came, I was a goner. The croissant - with a nice, crusty exterior that slightly crunches, but is not burnt nor is overly chewy and is amazingly buttery on the inside. The escargot, which has a nice spiral with well-defined raisins and créme spiral; cooked just right, nor tough, nor undercooked, neither too sweet nor too bland. JUST RIGHT. The coffee was pretty darn good too. I went with Cappuccino. It's hard to do it poorly in general, but they nailed it. They choose the coffee themselves and have a proper machine and boy, can you taste it... Even the cut baguette with butter and jam - a basic of Parisian breakfast diet, was pretty good. Needless to say, that when we were back a couple of months later with my wife, I took her there right away and everything was just as delicious. Overall, if you are in Paris, this is a must-visit breakfast place in my book. Despite looking for well over a decade, I haven't find anything that comes close yet.

Yelp
My fiancé and I came to enjoy their beautiful patio. We bought bread and sat outside. First of all their bread sucks. It's horrible. It's bread you can get anywhere, it's nothing special. Then the employee tells us to not sit outside (even though no one is sitting down), and tells us to leave. We were just eating their bread. This place is horrible, don't eat here. Customer service is important and they don't have that. Food tastes horrible. Not worth your money. I will tell everyone in the states who comes to tour in France not to come either.

Yelp
I'm at a loss to think why anyone could ever give anything less than five stars to this fantastic spot. Not only are all the staff friendly and knowledgeable, but they also possess great passion for their particular section (be it meat, cheese, vegetables, bread, etc). Prices are extremely reasonable for some of the best cheese you can find. Best times to come are during the week. Weekends are totally packed.

Yelp
Subjective: ate breakfast here. Ordered tartine pains speciaux (house bread) with butter, jam. Objective: boulangerie/cafe combination in Le Marais. Friendly staff. Assessment: just a simple, pleasant breakfast.

Yelp
(From memory) Beautiful setting, interesting choices but felt a little crammed in and rushed out. I was pregnant and unwell at this point of our trip so that probably didn't help my impression! Would have loved to have more of a look inside.

Yelp
Organic or locally sourced products shouldn't be an excuse for average overpriced food. The Caesar Salad, which here gets a fancy pretentious name like Cesar will always be Cesar, is an average overpriced salad with no taste. Gentrification has its limit especially when you have so many cheaper, better, more authentic options in the neighborhood. Paris has so many cafes and boulangeries and real options that it's not worth going for the nouveau riche gentrified ones. Go 200 feet in any direction and you'll find better tasting food for half the price.

Yelp
Cute gem tied to a grocery store ! Came by for breakfast and ordered too much but it was delicious. We did the granola yogurt parfait, which tasted like Greek yogurt with left us asking for more. The meat and cheese plate is enough for two people if not more and the traditional bread with marmalade was oh so good ! For those thirsty , they do freshly squeezed juice and I satisfied my cravings with a lemonade & mint mix - fabulous !

Yelp
A wonderful shop an bakery with friendly and helpful staff. Had a fantastic baguette and cheese recommendation - fresh raw goat cheese stuffed with fig? Heck yes.

Yelp
We ordered planches du fromage and planches du charcuterie. Both were plentiful. price was €17 but not expensive either. The hummus dish for €7 was tasty. They were replenished our bread for free and without us asking. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Mortadella was best I've had! And my in-laws agreed!

Yelp
Sandwiches are great and desserts are awesome. Looks like they make all their own pastry and breads. Waiting staff very nice and attentive.

Yelp
I was here the day they opened! I love having a morning coffee and a croissant. Enclosed street side sitting helps protect against any adverse weather too!

Yelp
It is a one of those hip places, who offers a really peatty package but has nothing worth inside. Ordered my lunch (after rush hour) and while waited went to see the grocery inside. All is really well presented but has nothing excepcional to choose from. You could buy almost everything in a regular supermarket. Got back to my seat and still waiting for the order to come relaxed with my friends. And relaxed too much cause it passed almost 1h after the order of cold soups (gazpacho) we made. When asked the waiter told me, not in the better manners, that it would take just a minute. Classic. After waiting some 10 minutes more we left and got a really nice meal, with decent service a few meters away. Glad the neighbourhood has so much options. I don't think this one will last long.

Yelp
Cute cafe. Yummy croissants. Cute store underneath where I bought pretty chocolates as gifts.

Yelp
best dish I've ever had, anywhere - Maison Plisson's Roasted Root Vegetable crumble. Please never take this off the menu! Hearty serving, you will leave satisfied. Will be dreaming about this until my next visit.

Yelp
The only thing we are was a croissant but I can confidently give it 5 stars. For €1, this is not your convenience store pastry. Get one. Or ten. It's the breakfast of champions!

Rich H.

Yelp
Staff here were also great and accommodating to us American tourists. We were recommended here for delicious croissants, but they were definitely not "the best" I've ever had. They weren't terrible, but they weren't great, either. I'd have preferred a specific juice of the day, but they had too many choices. It's definitely great to read about cafe customs before trying to order to-go only sandwiches for dine in.

Susan T.

Yelp
Was recommended here by another restaurant for their croissants, and were a bit disappointed. The croissants we got were chewy as if they had been sitting there for hours. The taste was pretty good, so it probably would have been delicious straight out of the oven. The service was pretty good after the initial confusion of not knowing where to go and which menu to order from.
