Had an incredible evening at Maison Sun. Every dish felt deeply considered — not just delicious but soulful. The team truly creates an experience that blends artistry, warmth, and presence. Can’t wait to return!

French Asian Culinary Craftsmanship At Maison Sun you are up for a treat! It’s a French Asian Restaurant located in Boerum Hill, Downtown Brooklyn where you will be transported to a culinary heaven. Tasting menu combined French techniques and inspired by the history, trade, and regional flavors of Asia. Each dish has a story, every flavor is unique. Guests will enjoy an immersive view of the open kitchen where talented chefs create their masterpieces. They offer a six-course prix fixe option for $150 - or seven courses for $175.

While everything from the food and service was okay, we felt the food was not elevated enough for what we paid for. The portions were so small that we did not leave satisfied. The ingredients, plating, flavors, and quantity can all use some more work from the chef. The chef worked alone to cook and prep for 7 diners, but the dishes came out too slow. My dinner date ordered a single glass of wine, but she only received the same amount of wine as the diners seated next to us who got wine pairings with their prix fixe dinners. We think the sommelier(?) (not sure if that was what he really was), subconsciously mistook her wine order with theirs when he was pouring, so she only got a third of a glass. We later discovered how much she should have gotten when another couple came in and ordered a single glass of wine, as well. Overall, while there was nothing terribly wrong with the food, wine, and service, the whole experience was not worth what they charged for it.

Went speechless when the chief brought up a SINGLE WALMART candle for birthday celebration 😅😅😅 not even a macaroon, for a $185 USD per person dinner. Food was mediocre and very small portion, but the egg was rich and thic in flavor, silverwares choices are pretty tastey edit: the chief also changed my original date from 4th to 6th and offered a complimentary glass of wine, which I did not receive. Also been to a lot of fine dining places and Michelins, have never received a candle as a “gesture” of celebration. It’s just hilarious watching you unpack a 7.99 USD Walmart candle from the 75 pack considering the set was almost 250 usd per person after tax and tip. I would’ve been happier without the candle

Absolutely amazing experience at Maison Sun! Great food beautifully presented! Chef and waiters are super friendly. Definitely Michelin star experience! Hidden gem in downtown Brooklyn!

🌟 Had the most incredible dining experience at Maison Sun! This month, I’ve visited Aquavit, Jean Georges, and Naro, but this was by far my favorite. Bringing in Chef Dai was a brilliant move—the fusion of Chinese, Korean, and other Asian flavors was absolutely outstanding. The creativity and execution were next-level, making this the best fine dining experience I’ve had all month! It's my third visit already, and it’s amazing to see Maison Sun evolve from a pop-up into such a remarkable dining destination. I can already see Michelin stars in its future. Thank you for an unforgettable night—can’t wait to come back!

Google
Very intimate restaurant with 10 seats. Great for a special occasion or date night. Loved the service and flexibility around wine tasting (ability to have a smaller sampling of premium wines for lowest tier pricing). Food was quite good in general but didn’t love some of the earlier courses. Dessert was excellent. Overall a good experience.

Google
Our experience at Maison Sun was incredible. The space is small and intimate, with an open kitchen where we can watch what's happening, and chat with the chefs who were so down to earth. Each bite of food was a unique explosion of taste. They were VERY accommodating of my gluten-free diet. The owner was friendly, indulged us in any question we had, and shared stories of his journey to starting this incredible spot. Was so worth the cost.

Yelp
A solid 4.5 stars! I came to Maison Sun for dinner tonight. I'd heard about them a while back when i think they were still in an apartment so when I heard they opened a brick and mortar store I had to give them a try. Overall, it was a good experience. The space is very intimate, chef's counter style. I dined with one other party of three and i think the space holds a max of 10 or so. The host, Carlos, was a very gracious host. On to the food, it was pretty good! To start we had some light bites. They were OK, wasn't really a fan of the Foie Gras one, the others were pretty decent. I specifically liked the one that tasted like a chicken stuffed with something and the crudo. Moving on to the other courses, I actually surprisingly liked the asparagus soup, which I didn't think I would because it was cold soup but it ended up being pretty good. The tuna tartar was great as well. However, the star of the show was definitely the duck risotto. It was the best risotto I've ever had and my favorite dish of the night. I wasn't really a fan of the main fish dish. It was pretty bland. Just simple fish with cherry tomatoes, sliced grapes, and some type of leafy green. I was expecting a bit more from this dish. The final savory course of the night was the lamb, which was also really good! The lamb was soft, and the potatoes were tasty. On to dessert, I loved the palate cleanser, which was some type of rhubarb and honey fennel sorbet. Surprisingly, the honey fennel ended up being my favorite half. The main dessert was also decent. I just remember it being another type of ice cream, and it had a lot of components like mochi bites, sorbet, and a chocolate disc. It's possible that you may also get an almond macaroon with your meal. It was mentioned at the start of dinner, but I never received one, so it may just be for special occasions, it's unclear. My only critique/suggestion why I docked half a star is I wish there was a wine by the glass menu because (i) it would make it easier to pick a glass of wine rather than having to try several (ii) it would also make pricing more transparent as while I ended up finding one wine that was decent not necessarily sure I would have wanted to pay the $42 a glass for it. And yes, I could have asked but who wants to ask the price of 5 different glasses of wine in a nice restaurant? It's just better if the price is posted up front so you can decide. Also, I'm sure this was meant as a nice gesture to make the checkout process easier but it's always good to give someone a heads up before you run their card and in this case that wasn't done. Not a big deal but sometimes people use business cards for meals and some, like mine, may have restrictions on alcohol so always good to ask. Finally, did feel a bit rushed out the door towards the end. Didn't get to say goodbye to the chef or the other dining party. To give them the benefit of the doubt, this could have been due to the rain or because they needed to open the door, which they'd locked but not a good feeling after a 2 hour meal. Overall, I had a great meal at Maison Sun and would generally recommend it!

Yelp
Maison Sun is located in the Boerum Hill 'hood and offers a modern French fare. We came here to check out their winter tasting menu, which included: +Beausoleil Oyster - with royal osetra caviar and sorrel +Anson Mills Blue Corn Grits - with trout roe, celeriac, and perigord black truffle +Murasaki Sea Urchin - with brown butter foam +Pink Mao Mao Fish - with celtuce, cucumber, and avocado +Butternut Squash Soup - with porcini jam and a brioche with saffron butter +Spanish Otoro Bluefin Tuna - with roasted pine nut puree and watermelon radishes +Squab - with pomme robuchon and vallee d'auge sauce +Hokkaido "Snow Beef" A5 Wagyu au Poivre - this was added as a supplement The desserts included the Blackberry Nitro Sorbet (with creme de cassis) and the Basque Cheesecake (with black sesame ice cream). Service was great, and the items were presented well. The ambiance of the restaurant is very sophisticated and intimate, and I liked the wrap-around counter seating of the kitchen. +friendly service

Yelp
Went here for my birthday, and didn't know what to expect, since there was so little about it. First, Maison Sun is run by a small team that rents out a few locations to make food. These places are not very big, and some are a bit informal tbh, like studio apartment. As such, they are not decorated or feel as if they are heavily invested environments for restaurants. The food overall was ok. I thought the cooking level was high, and everything was in order of what you'd expect from fine dining. But there was not that much food (I was pretty hungry after), and the only supplement of the day was a Snow Beef that apparently only Masa can source, that was astronomically priced at $200 for something like 6oz. The wine selection is "all you can drink" or something like that. For people who complained about small pours, the half pour is pretty standard at most restaurants, so you don't have a heaping pour and you can fill as needed. But for me, the main disappointment about the wine selection was what we got to drink. Everything is around $60-70, but it's wines you can find at Astor's or a nearby wine store. I did corkage and brought my own Riesling and felt that it overpowered all the wines we had on the day. The price to come to Maison Sun is very very high and I wouldn't recommend this unless you are able to book the entire team for a night and do some very custom things like a proposal or a birthday party. You will get better value from just going to an actual fine dining restaurant.

Yelp
I've eaten at over 300 restaurants in NYC and this was in my top 2 of all time. This felt more like a private dinner than a typical tasting menu experience. The food was incredible, the service was extremely personalized, and everyone at the restaurant was having a good time. This is truly a one of a kind experience and it's cheaper than many other tasting menus in the city. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
The place was so so. Even though we had reservations we had to wait for about an hour outside. I expected little more exclusive dishes. I hated the part with upsell. We had wine pairing and they promised 5 different wine, but were served only 2. They served food so quickly and I had to always ask what am I eating instead of server describing dishes to us. Only thing that I liked is pumpkin soup, the rest was mediocre. In the end I was waiting for a server to say: "hey it's a prank, it's not a real restaurant and this dinner is on us :) "

Yelp
Came here after finding it on Yelp and what an experience! Definitely pricey, but was such a unique experience that I'd recommend to all. Feels like it's still newer and not fully discovered by everyone yet - so come before they get their Michelin star! Thanks Chef Brandon and Jonathan for a great night. Good: - We got a super small intimate group eating session - the chef came out to introduce each dish, and Jonathan came out a lot and made us feel super welcomed. He'd check in for every dish and even showed us the kitchen at the end and gave us extra dessert wine! - Each dish was beautiful - and super unique flavor combos - it felt like our mouths were just questioning what we were seeing and tasting with each dish. Some of my favorites were the duck and the pasta dish that we had. - Each dish comes with a fancy wine pairing and you get unlimited refills. - Loved how we did the speakeasy experience and got texted a secret location before we showed up. Just felt like an overall secret and edgey experience that not everyone knows about. Bad: - A long experience! Which isn't bad but if you're crunched for time - this place starts and ends 3 hours apart. Also you can be hungry in between the dishes. - Sometimes the portions can be small, but when you add all the food together, it's a lot and you'll definitely be full by the end This place is awesome! It takes place in a small refurbished apartment and feels like such a unique intimate experience and definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of dining at Maison Sun with a good friend a month or so ago. We enjoyed the tasting menu and had fun adding a few supplements. The ingredients felt strong but the dishes themselves a bit unimaginative. I'm a fan of fine dining and have enjoyed many similar tasting menus both in New York and the Bay Area, and while Maison Sun executed fairly there was nothing particularly special to report on. This is not the worst thing - sometimes one simply wants a solid meal. But if you're seeking something exceptional I would say there may be better establishments in New York to try your luck at. I did enjoy the wine pairing, and the seafood seemed exceptionally high quality. I did want to add: I held off on sharing my review after seeing some of the owner's responses to previous unfavorable reviews. He responded quite harshly - I have never witnessed a fine dining restaurant professional who responded to criticism in such a fashion. Luckily it seems like he's gone back to edit or remove most of those, so I feel more comfortable posting now. Thank you for reading!

Yelp
Everything here is meticulous & pristine & exquisite, but also very exciting. This is a perfect little jewel box restaurant, but also a hotbed of innovation and experimentation. I've had three dinners here thus far, and cannot stop recommending it to friends, and cannot wait to return soon & often...

Yelp
Interesting experience - Maison sun took over the old space for chef's table at brooklyn fare and the interior has quite an industrial feel. It was a unique space but perhaps not the most impressive entrance right off a busy street. The night we went was pretty empty which I found surprising for this high end of a restaurant. The reservation is prepaid ($375/person) and includes a 12 course tasting menu and a wine pairing. The tasting menu had some highlights but also some dishes that were trying too hard to be interesting and missed the mark. Highlights included the "bread service" which included a pastry puff and uni and the cod and kimchi bouillabaisse. We were also intrigued by their offer of a "big mac" which came at a hefty $250/person supplement. After hearing that this dish featured the best wagyu in the city we were excited to try it. Unfortunately, when it came out we weren't even informed that we were eating the "big mac" - I guess we were under the impression that for that price, we would get an additional dish, not have one substituted out. When the wagyu dish came out we assumed that this was the original one featured on the menu and our "big mac" was on the way after. As a result, we didn't even finish it, thinking we wanted to save space! Seems like a pretty big mistake that this was not made more clear. I was also kind of disappointed because the website seasonal menu features an opera cake at the very end which we weren't even served (they stopped with the coconut mousse). I'm not sure if they ran out and didn't inform us, but for the price we paid I would expect better. On the other hand, the service was excellent and I enjoyed the wine pairing. They did a wonderful job keeping our glasses full. Overall, an interesting experience but not worth the price tag. ***Edit after restaurant's response: Please enjoy the strangest response I've ever received to a Yelp review. There are better ways to respond to a 3/5 rating than a personal attack on the diners. He did point out that I misrecollected the base price, so I've updated that now - the tasting menu is $375, not $450. The total, with add ons for 2 people, was $1,387. The restaurant owner's response indicated that he thought my less than glowing review was due to the cost, so let me correct that assumption: the price is not the issue with Maison Sun, though I see how that thought might have been comforting.

Yelp
Maison Sun is now open in Brooklyn in the original Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare space on Schermerhorn Street. Seating a maximum of 16 around the chef's counter, the nine-course, wine-paired dinners are an amazing experience. These are as good as any two or three Michelin Star experiences we have ever had. While not inexpensive, the food, wine and service are as good as it gets. Make a reservation now before it becomes impossible to get one!

Yelp
My husband and I went to Maison Sun for dinner last Saturday. It is such a unique and memorable experience 8 course + unlimited wine pairing for $300. Not a bad deal given the quality of food/wine and location of the restaurant I really enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant: modern, chill, exclusive. It feels like private dining in friend's soho loft. All courses are delicious. My favorite courses are fish salad & lobster with cream.

Yelp
Its a diamond in the rough of downtown Brooklyn. The set course menu experience/ambiance is Far more engaging due to the small space and setup which I prefer over some of the smaller, narrow row style restaurants in Manhattan. The service, you can tell, has really been fine tuned - Keep up the great work here - The food is what you would expect from a Michillin star chef and the experience is above that of any $$$$$ restaurant in NYC. It's a weekly ritual for my wife and I to fine dine in the city every Friday night after a hard week of work. The Manhattan dining scene is nothing new to us. This is my favorite experience so far - hands down. Worth.every.penny! Please! Never stop improving. I'm looking forward to the fall menu and I hope to see more natural wines of the orange variety.

Yelp
I wish I loved this experience. I would have rated it a 3 out of 5, but I removed a star seeing that they lowered the tasting menu price by almost 50% since I went at the end of 2022, which I believe is actually now more appropriately priced. I booked this restaurant for my partner's birthday with the expectation that this would be to the same level as top michelin star restaurants given the reviews, news, and high promise. The courses were fair but not quite memorable at that price point. I will always remember the dishes at establishments like Tapas Molecular or Jungsik which were less than or equal to Maison Sun's bill. The courses here were not memorable in any way which is disappointing. I was also hoping service would be more refined, but it seemed everyone was a bit rough around the edges in providing fine-dining service or awkward which in turn made us feel a little uncomfortable. I enjoyed the experience of smelling and touching the truffles, a menu supplement we chose to add on. I did not enjoy them accidentally charging me for 2x the truffle, which my partner caught and had them rectify right before we left. It seemed like at the time we went, it was a cash-grab. Perhaps, if I paid $198 instead of $410 per person ($365 base, $45 truffle add-on), I would have found this experience to my expectation. Unfortunately, it fell quite flat, and seeing how other restaurants handle birthday celebrations, I was also disappointed with the way they handled my partner's birthday (it was mentioned on the reservation and during dinner this was a birthday celebration. They said they would give a candle on the dessert, then forgot, then came at the very end with just a candle and nothing else! Haha!). I wouldn't give this establishment a second chance since there are so many wonderful, tried and true restaurants in NYC to try.

Yelp
NY speakeasy-dining at its absolute finest. An intimate setting hosting just around 10 guests, delighting participants with a sensational 8-course tasting menu and wine pairing that changes weekly. There is haute cuisine, and then there was our menu. Absolutely divine!!   5-star service begins as you step off the elevator. Our host greeted us by name and introduced himself before leading us to the dimly-lit dining room where we sat comfortably awaiting our fellow diners to arrive. Note that meal service doesn't begin until all diners are seated.   Once everyone was seated, the maître d' introduced us to the evening's program and celebrity chefs. Our menu included locally sourced seafood and vegetables, such a fresh razor clams with burnt onion, caramelized celery root, king crab, and a nixtamalized winter squash, to name a few, cooked with exotic ingredients such as charcoals from Indonesia which added a unplaceable hint of flavor to our wagyu. Chefs came out to explain each course, as did the maître d' for each wine introduction.   Overall, this was an incredibly special evening, one of the most memorable culinary experiences I've had in New York. I highly recommend for couples and especially groups.

Yelp
The reason I love this city is that I got to explore the experience like this. It's a speakEasy concept so you don't get to know the location the day of. The location I went is definitely very iconic NYC. The whole experience is sensational with 8 courses seasonal tasting menu with wine pairing, some very unique wine that's hard to find. Their white glove service was top notch from the moment you arrive. There was only 10 people total at my dining experience, set up is intimate with light music playing in the background. They also play with the lights so you get to experience from visual to taste. We got to taste the winter menu with features a lot or seafood including razor clams, caviar, king crab. The menu is not too heavy on meat, the chef uses a lot of vegetables with twist, the maitake mushroom was a bomb, and the winter squash I didn't know it could taste so good. The wagyu beef comes from Texas, dry aged in house, perfectly cooked melting in your mouth. They use a lot of ingredients that's very special, such as charcoals from Indonesia that gives the grill some unique flavor. There are different wine paring throughout the whole meal. Each hand picked my owner and each compliment the dish very well. I love that the owner would come over and explain the wine to us and where is it from and how the taste go well with the food. If you are looking for a special night out, definitely check this out.

Yelp
The mission of Maison Sun is providing a true, speakeasy fine-dining experience. They offer French and Asian inspired tasting menus prepared by different guest chefs every week. We were there for Mystery Chefs "J&J", 8 courses with wine pairing for $325 and it was an amazingly satisfying night. The service was great and the host & staff were friendly and welcoming. They were so considerate to customize my own dish and beverage pairing since I am pregnant and can't have raw ingredients or alcohol. We can tell how much work the chefs put into each dish and how much they love to show their passion about food. The elements of each dish were diversely inspired by Indian, Malaysian, Japanese and Taiwanese...etc. it made the entire dining experience feel like a trip of taste bud around East Asia. Our favorite dishes were the Crudo, Smoked Unagi Butter for Bread, Taiwanese Beef Noodles and Fried Soft Shell Crab with Malaysian Curry. My customized Crudo was the smoked unagi and the fish was well grilled and the sauce was appetizing. The butter was so creamy and definitely was a great addition to the bread. We are Taiwanese, so we're excited to see the fine dining version of Taiwanese Beef Noodle. The broth was thick and flavorful. My husband's top of that night was the Soft Shell Crab with Malaysian Curry. The soft crab was fried perfectly and perfect with spiced Curry. People might have concern with the uncertainty of chefs and menu, but it was a pleasant and lovely dining experience with lots of surprise for us.

Yelp
Honestly, the experience was incredible! how can Carlos Gasperi disappoint? He is a master at creating beautiful and amazing tasting food. You'll never find a classier restaurant. But, this is beyond just his name. It has a wonderful vibe, and great employees that give wonderful service. the food is incredible. Definitely put this on your list, it's the very best in fine dining in NYC!

Yelp
I want to start this review off with the caveat that we came for a Valentine's Day seating at their SoHo location, which might not be representative of their other locations. These ratings are based on the $450pp price tag. Service: 1/10 Ambiance: 1/10 Food: 6/10 I was very excited originally to learn about Maison Sun and a speakeasy type dining experience. The communication with their booking staff was a positive experience, but unfortunately it was all downhill from there. Upon arriving for the reservation, we were led to a few long tables with white table cloths. The space was smokey, presumably from the food prep and lack of ventilation. The vibe was wedding banquet meets studio apartment? A bit bizarre to be honest. There wasn't an introduction in terms of how many courses were to be had for the night or a menu. A wine pairing was included in the price, but on many occasions the wait staff just forgot to pour the wine. The meal itself was 8 courses. Given the kitchen was the size of a standard NYC apartment's, it wasn't surprising that the guests all received their food at different times. Some of our dishes arrived cold, which was disappointing. You could tell the intent of the meal was to deliver something of quality, but the kitchen and wait staff were not equipped to deliver that. We waited about 15-20 minutes between courses and at times without descriptions of what was being served. The highlights of the meal were the beef and the strawberry dessert. Both of which were very well cooked. The in between was quite forgettable. A few guests in my vicinity, including myself, decided to leave the dinner after the dessert course without acknowledgment from the staff. In the elevator ride down, we talked about how disappointed we were in the meal given the price and reviews of their Brooklyn location. I felt horrible for the couple that came all the way from Kansas City and to have paid the tab when they could've experienced truly world class dining in NYC for the same price. If you do book a meal at Maison Sun, go for their Brooklyn location, which according to other reviews is amazing. If you book their SoHo location, you're better off eating literally anywhere else for the price.

Yelp
A terrific dining experience. The meal was excellent, as well as the service. The menu was very creative and every dish was delicious. The gentleman who served us was extremely knowledgeable about wine and food. We enjoyed the ambiance as well as the music. By far one of my top dining experiences in NYC. Highly recommend it!

Yelp
It was another opera night and such a night is never completely without fine dining to precede it. Enter Maison Sun. It's been on my list for at least the last 6 months after seeing one of my favorite bartenders visit. I want to start with their level of accommodation--Carlos is an absolute gem. Trying to make a reservation for 1 is always a task no matter the establishment, and he made it so easy-- with accompanying screenshot via email. Now, let's get into it! Ambience/Service. Phenomenal. This meal took place on the 75 floor of New York by Gehry. Beautifully designed building with fantastic views of the Hudson. We can only go up from here. *get it?* I was greeted by Carlos, said hello to the kitchen team and was seated. This was immediately followed by my first glass of wine, but I'll get to that in a bit. Music, also curated by Carlos, was jazz for the evening. I added a few from the collection to my own rotation. Each dish was timed to perfection-- there was no feeling of being rushed, my glass was never empty. Food/Alcohol: Let's move on to why were all here. 8 course meal, perfect pairings all the way through. -Caviar and fried egg in a porcini tartlet -Trevally in a cucumber soup, almost miso-like in texture and thickness. -Fire and ice tartare with a cherry reduction. This might be the only dish I don't remember well. And that's partially because I didn't enjoy it. This is not a reflection on the chef, it's a reflection of my dislike of tartare in all forms. I did try it though, because I'll try anything once. -Black cod in a French onion soup style and a green bean confit. THIS?! This dish stole the show. I've been raving about it for over almost two weeks. The crispy yet fatty skin; the subtle seasoning that didn't mask the cod itself? Sublime. -King crab, fois gras with a rhubarb pickle. --The aforementioned dishes were paired with a Marnier 2010 extra brut. Appolonier. -First steak dish was paired with morel mushrooms and took me completely by surprise because I'm not a fan of mushrooms. Lovely. -Sirloin steak with asparagus and a purée --I'll be honest, I forgot the red that was paired here. But it was 2019, semi, incredibly balanced. -Apricot with crème fraiche. Mango, strawberries, and bacon. --Paired with Hungarian dessert wine, 2017. I'd like to add here that every dish was presented and described by Brendan, the Exec chef. And it felt so incredibly personal and genuine. This man puts his heart into his dishes and it not only shows in presentation but in taste. What an absolutely fantastic way to start my night. Thanks to the Maison Sun team for creating such an unforgettable experience. This is not goodbye, but a see you later. As always, happy eating and drinking. MMG

Yelp
My dinner at Maison Sun was definitely an intimate, unique and personalized experience. The second we arrived, we were in awe of the picturesque view of this beautiful city. There was not a bad seat in the house, but we chose to sit facing the two bridges to show Brooklyn some love too. It was truly amazing to watch the city slowly light up as the sun set. The meal that was prepared for us was even more beautiful than the perfect view. The ingredients used to compose each dish are carefully hand picked at the local farmers market. Chef Brendan puts thought into using produce that is in the peak of season and prepares them in a form to make them shine. He uses intricate techniques that only a talented, experienced chef would have the ability to execute. As each course is served, he explains the source and inspiration of the dish, which gives me a reason to appreciate it even more. Carlos thoughtfully picked out wines to pair for each dish throughout the meal. He was very knowledgeable with the bottles that were being poured and explained the story behind each one. There was also no hesitation with keeping your glass full. All of our dishes were meaningful and unique in its own way. We started off with an uni panna cotta with apple gelee and of course, a generous serving of caviar. That was paired with the champagne and it was the perfect start to this beautiful meal. The A5 wagyu and toro dish was so rich, flavorful and worked so perfectly together to create a taste that melted in your mouth. The skin on the cod was unbelievably crispy, the fish was cooked perfectly and the Japanese curry complimented the fish very nicely. The scallop and foie gras dish was extremely well balanced, which was served with a velvety kimchi beurre blanc. After the 8 courses, we left very full. This is definitely a one of a kind experience that is not being offered anywhere else in the city. If you're able to secure a reservation and have this special opportunity, I highly encourage to dine here at least once.

Yelp
Great fine dining experience -- certainly recommend visiting if you are into this type of scene. They operate out of the renowned original Brooklyn Fare location and are settling in comfortably. Loved chatting with the owner (he's got an interesting story or two), the soundtrack set a good vibe and fellow customers were friendly and conversational. All the dishes were on point and prepared with care -- the black&blue tuna and the duck were the highlight on the menu that we had -- and we left satiated and happy. Another score for the Brooklyn restaurant scene!

Yelp
The experience and food were amazing and the staff was warm and friendly. My only issue was with the messaging leading up to the experience from Open Table and the host. At first, the reservation was confirmed, then canceled, then rescheduled. Like I said, everything was delicious however, would have made a different choice on the wagyu beef given the confusion with expectations and cost.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time at Maison Sun! My friend and I didn't know what to expect and it definitely exceeded our expectations. Everything was on point from the caviar tart appetizer to the main course, each plate was satisfying and absolutely delicious. The service was nothing short of amazing too! The restaurant has great choices in wines but I didn't want to drink that night. Still, they were able to offer me a non-alcoholic pairing on the fly. It was evident they made an effort to give me a comparable experience with the drinks. And even when I didn't opt for wine, they still showed me their wine choices as to not leave me out of the experience. Maison Sun is a fine-dining speakeasy but it has a cozy and intimate ambiance. Perfect for a romantic date night, or like me, a great spot to catch up with girlfriends. At the end of the night, we got to meet the chefs and the owner and they were very warm and friendly. We left fully satiated and satisfied. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I tried this place with my wife. I was thoroughly impressed with this place. I will come back! The place provides 8 courses and all of them were very good. I really loved the caviar appetizer, scallop, ravioli in kimchi sauce, and lamb chop. Portions were very generous, so I was full by the time we got to dessert. Wine pairings were also amazing, and Carlos very kindly explained the wine pairings. I dont think there's any place that provides the combination of TOP quality food AND excellent view. The place is on 75th floor, so the view is great. We sat in a table with a view of the Brooklyn bridge, manhattan bridge and Brooklyn downtown. I also thought this place provided better value of amazing food than Le Bernardin. STRONGLY RECOMMEND! I liked the friendly environment - I could see chefs cook right in front of me, but I heard they're moving to a new place soon. Way to go! I hope a place like this continues to succeed and expand.

Yelp
Food: 8.5/10 Service: 9.5/10 Ambience: 9/10 Overall Value: 9/10 I visited Maison Sun ~4 months ago at their FiDi location. Music and overall speakeasy/dinner party vibe was on point! Location and view was the best :) Food and wine pairing was great value at $365 per guest for the 8 course experience, including complimentary beverage service, service & sales tax. Portions were small but we were completely stuffed at the end! I really liked the wine pairing (9/10). And I guess it's even better value depending on how much you drink ;) Space was intimate hosting only 4 other couples. I appreciated hearing from the hosts -- Dr. Carlos Gasperi and Chef Brendan Skiber -- and admire their entrepreneurial spirit. My favorite dishes were the Spanish Mackerel, Haejang-guk (twist on Korean Kimchi Army Soup), & Wagyu A5 (add-on $$ dish). We thought the dessert was a bit underwhelming so it was unfortunate to end the meal on that note. However, it looks like the menu changes regularly and the location has changed as well. I hope to return and see how it's progressed!

Yelp
This was a very intimate and amazing dining experience. One of my favorite parts of the experience was having the chef come out each course to explain the dishes, this made the entire experience far more personal. One of my favorites dishes was the lamb with chipotle curry. The flavors complemented each other and it was cooked perfectly. The lamb melted in my mouth and was so easy to cut into with a butter knife. Highly recommend this experience!

Yelp
My wife and I chose to visit Maison Sun as our first night out after after our son was born. It did not disappoint. Honestly, if I could give 6 stars I would. Every course was built from the bottom up, with extreme attention to detail. The courses are complex but very well balanced. Nothing about their food is mailed in. The service is also excellent. Our host was clearly a well versed sommelier and knew what we needed before even we did. This is the kind of place you usually wait a month to get into, so go while you can.

Yelp
My husband and I had dinner last week at Maison Sun in Soho. Absolutely a ten star experience There is a special entrance that is street level, and you are buzzed in after you identify yourself. The elevator then takes you to the fifth floor, where you are greeted by the lovely hostess who escorts you to your table. The room is incredible--intimate and elegant. There is an eight course tasting menu with wine pairings. The chef comes out and explains each dish before it is served, and the owner (Carlos) brings over each bottle of wine, explains the vintage and why it was selected for each particular course what an experience! The food is incredible, undoubtedly the best meal we have ever had. Coupled with the uniqueness of the entire experience, it is truly a one-of-a-kind evening. I highly recommend Maison Sun and look forward to returning. Ten stars overall for food, service and ambiance.

Yelp
My cousin brought me to Maison Sun this past Sunday evening. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by Carlos and his team, who seated us by an incredible view of the Hudson River and the two bridges. It was very intimate - only a few tables at any given time - so our needs were always attended to and our glasses were never empty. What I didn't realize I would appreciate was Chef Brendan giving an introduction of himself and his background, which put that much more meaning behind the food he served. There was SO much variety throughout the course, and each dish had unique elements that perfectly complemented each other. The scallop and foie gras in kimchi soup was my absolute favorite (and I normally don't even like foie gras!), followed by the wagyu with morel mushrooms and the duck with zucchini. The strawberry-mango dessert was certainly the perfect ending to the meal. The dishes came out at perfect intervals; we were never rushed and were able to have a relaxing, enjoyable dinner. Unfortunately I can't speak for the wine pairings as I couldn't consume alcohol, but my cousin was able to enjoy. All in all, a truly unique and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Three words for the team at maison sun: what an experience! Many delicious memories but some highlights include the caviar boat, steamed fish and steak. And definitely cannot forget about the lovely wine pairings that elevate all of the courses. The chef explains the backstory of each dish as well as where the ingredients are sourced from. The quality of the food and the care the team puts behind each dish is evident. They are also very thoughtful about any dietary restrictions, which is always a plus for me. They were able to create equally stunning substitutions for my friend who had allergies to some of the fruit. The food is very creative but it also tastes incredibly good. The steamed fish melts in your mouth, the pasta is perfectly al dente, the steak is so tender, I could go on but words don't do justice Would definitely recommend maison sun to those looking for a very special dining experience! I will be coming back for sure.

Yelp
Edit: hilarious they would expect to be on par with Per Se or Ko. But hey, a man should always dream big right? I was merely comparing them with more of the 1-star tiers taking into account the wine pairing and gratuity being included....but I guess they aimed higher yet failed miserably. In addition, Per Se and Ko serve twice the amount of dishes and the pairings are unlimited full pours, so charging twice the amount is understandable. You asked how the dinner was, and I answered truthfully that it was fine, because what else is there to be done - give us more mediocre food or worse, offer us another experience at this hot and stuffy "speakeasy" fine dining restaurant? Suddenly make wagyu appear? Apologize for using bad and cheap ingredients?? I also wish you the best in your future culinary endeavors and hope you find patrons who are more happy with throwing away $365 at your establishment. We were all so excited to try this place as we are huge fans of Chefs Table. The concept of the place is great, and judging from the price point, we expected a meal that is on par with the other three stars in the city, but were thoroughly disappointed. First off, the entire menu had no ingredients that were worth the price tag. The most expensive item we ate was probably the crab and having it drenched in vanilla butter was utterly confusing. There was no meat, and we were all shocked when the guy announced that our last savory course is already in front of us - we looked down at our dry fish-cake-looking dish with what looked like Panko on top...then looked at each other and shared an uncomfortable chuckle of disappointment. The dessert was basically a jar of Nutella blended with chocolate ganache and thrown into a bowl. The wines were good, but the pours were so little and our glasses were constantly empty. If you are going to serve us bad food, at least make sure our glasses are full! One good thing that came out of the meal - we bonded with two other tables of how bad our meals were and proceeded to another restaurant to order food. Yes, we ALL left hungry after a $365 meal. We did become friends over this experience though, so I guess Carlos's goal of bringing people together through food did come true after all.

Yelp
Finally got around to try Maison Sun after a few hiccups. This time their location was in the East Village. The chefs were from Joel Robuchon and they served quite an immaculate and array of dishes. I'll start off my review with the service, then the dishes and the ambiance. Service: 10/10 because it's limited to a small amount of people you get attentive service throughout your entire experience. Dishes: Tuna white fish sashimi: 10/10- very fresh and mint gave it an interesting taste. Scallops and mushrooms: 10/10- the crust on the scallops was divine and the sauce that was used complimented the scallops extremely well. Lobster and squid bisque with uni: 10/10 reminded me of Gunter Seegers seasons egg because of the different layers of the dish. Rhubarb tart with honey arugula: 9/10 I enjoyed the rhubard and the dish wasn't super sweet like other desserts. Duck with candied kumquats, beets and yuchoy: 10/10 probably my favorite dish of the night. The duck was cooked to perfection and the yuchoy had a nice buttery taste to it that caught me off by surprise. Rumbaba with espresso liquor jelly and rum shaved ice: 9/10 - not a huge rum fan but this dessert was an exception. Buckwheat Millie feuille crepe with yuzu creme: 10/10 the buckwheat gave it a nice chewy texture to the dish which I enjoyed. Ambiance: there was a old classic German movie playing in the background as entertainment which was a nice touch to the experience. The venue was amazing and beautiful as well. Conclusion: great place for a special date or event! Would recommend for a truly private experience.

Yelp
Dinner at Maison started in the very beginning as story. From the entrance to the exit we were astonished with what it had to offer. Amazing views from the start and sitting with strangers who will later become more. This "home" is the perfect place to reconnect with yourself and enjoy a wonderful experience at the same time! Food was at the highest of standards and quality and care, "It couldn't be more beautiful I thought" and it did! Every course was thought out and practiced until perfection! The cod dish was my favorite! I can't wait to see what this driven team will come up with in the future! Thank you.

Yelp
My wife and I usually dont go for fine dining but we visited New york from Korea so we wanted to get fancy. All the reasons we do not go to fine dining was not the case for Maison Sun! The mood was very welcoming and intimate, each staff comes out to talk to us about the dish and that made us relax and able to taste the food properly. We had experiences with fine dining where we couldnt enjoy it because the mood was too heavy. The suite 500 was very intimate place and also very lively. The fact that we were eating in the middle of soho was forgotten due to how intimate and secret the location is. I enjoyed the lamb and the duck! We could tell that the chefs put a lot of effort in dry aging and freshness of the produces every day. Long story short if you want to experience something new and want to be very fulfilled this is the spot!

Yelp
It was my first time experiencing a sitting such as this and the standard it set will be hard to overcome. A great location, unimaginable views of the NYC skyline, all accompanied by the best food & wine choices. Each course played so well in your palate; a well executed play of sea & land, Asian and French cuisine with elements familiar enough, like the grits, to make it sing. Chef Brandon & his team showed great passion, hard work, and care for the source of their ingredients. His life story was inspiring to hear with cooking at the center of it all. It will be my greatest honor & pleasure to come back and experience an evening filled with great conversation, music & and the best food I've tasted, probably ever, again. Thank you!

Yelp
Only one word to start with describing the whole experience at Maison Sun - exceptional. Carlos has helped create an incredible experience on my proposal date. What I appreciated the most was that he and his team guided me through the whole process with their expertise and with extremely care-taken details considered. I contacted Carlos nearly a month before the day. At that moment, I was searching for a place with both classy yet not cliché experiences. I also wanted the place to be cozy and not with many people (strangers^) around. With that being said, Maison Sun was probably the best option after searching for a couple of days. By the moment I contacted them, I was still a little bit clueless about planning. Carlos replied immediately with a call and comforted me with his warm guidance. As I was targeting the day immediately post-Thanksgiving, although he was thinking of closing down the restaurant at the day, he chose to open the restaurant for the event and gave me an option to close-off Maison Sun just for me and my fiancée with a reasonable and fair price. He further offered me a bunch of extra add-ons (photographer, champagne, flowers, truffles, caviar) at cost, helping me to the great extent planning the whole thing. Now I'm looking back, I can't be more thankful for all his warm offerings and the resulting time saved. Further approaching the day, Carlos offered me an option to visit the venue a day or two earlier so that I can finally "see" the environment and set it up with my wishes. It was a classy and cozy place and it was easy to set up / decorate with what I wanted. On the day, Carlos was contacting me offline in real-time and carefully set up the place as planned. Thanks to his team, I was giving my fiancée a real surprise until we stepped into the venue. The photographer he found - Santiago - was amazing and took many incredible pictures/videos to capture the good moment. The courses and wines paired were carefully planned and crafted with the chef coming over with a detailed introduction for every dish. I personally like the wagyu beef tartare and satsuma mandarin the best - from my knowledge, they were as good as (even better than) many Michelle 3 Stars I have been to before. He finally surprised me with bottles to go with as a courtesy and provided a detailed tour around the kitchen and the staff team. Again, I can't be thanking Carlos more for his detailed guidance along the whole event-planning process. He and his team were professional, efficient, and more importantly - let me feel warmly welcomed. THANK YOU Maison Sun for the experience and surprises!!

Yelp
One of the most unbelievable culinary experiences I have eaten at and probably the best overall meal I have ever had in the US. The ingredients they used in each dish was top notch, and even though some of the dishes had some interesting pairings, the flavors always came together perfectly. Not only was the food phenomenal, but the staff was extremely welcoming from the moment we walked into the restaurant, making sure every part of the experience was enjoyable. I was also very impressed how attentive the chefs were with talking with us about the inspiration behind each dish as well as the background for how all the ingredients were sourced while also flawlessly preparing each course of the meal. Although this meal was on the pricier side, given the unlimited wine pairing, the incredible quality of all the food, and the experience of the dinner itself, I think it is well worth the price. I can honestly say that this is the only restaurant I have eaten at with this price point that I genuinely thought was worth every penny. I am still blown away by this dinner and I cannot wait to come back.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience. Excellent food with perfect wine pairings in an intimate setting with great service. I really appreciate the prix fixe aspect - all inclusive, food, wine, tax, tip. What a great idea. We will be back soon.

Yelp
The dining experience was phenomenal! I loved the building that we were in, we had an amazing view of the city overlooking the water. The Chef explained each course before we ate which really made the experience exceptional! The staff was all very attentive to our needs the entire time. One of my favorite dishes was the lamb. It was so tender and the components all worked so well together. I highly recommend this place for someone who is looking for a more intimate and personal dining experience!!

Yelp
Most impeccable dining experience. The view from the 75th floor (overlooking Brooklyn) is simply speechless; and the only thing that beats the view is the food. Thoughtfully curated 8-course meal will make sure you leave the place happy and full. My favorite was dry-aged scallops, but everything else scores very close 2nd place. Must come experience it yourself.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying, as my first fine dining experience this could not be beat. The menu was absolutely amazing, many different flavors we're balanced in the most amazing way. The champagne choices made by Carlos was absolutely delicious. The service was amazing, I couldn't have asked for a better crew to serve us. I really enjoyed getting to know the crew and speaking with Michael about the detail in each dish. Speaking of the ambiance it was all incredible. The music choice was just spectacular and made me want to get up and dance. It was very welcoming and since the moment we walked through the door I felt nothing more than at home. I really enjoyed it so much. I would definitely recommend maison sun for any situation, and no matter what you will get more than you can ever expect.

Yelp
I had an incredible one of a kind experience this past week for my mother in laws birthday. Chef Brendan is truly one of a kind. Him and his team made the experience remarkable. Every food brought out was prepared, plated and presented at the highest quality with the best drink pairings. My allergy was specifically accommodated and I didn't feel I was missing out on anything. Each item was a work of art. Highly recommended for a celebration or special event. Great team!

Anny K.

Yelp
Not worth it. The service, food, location, etc., are all below expectations. They also pass around this block of wagyu that you can add for a ridiculous additional cost and truffle for an additional $70/person, and they shave maybe 3 slices? Anyways, would not recommend or go again. There are plenty of other fine dining options out there in nyc - save yourself the time/money and go elsewhere.

Yelp
From beginning to end, we were treated to an unbelievable meal, attentive, generous and kind service and a stellar selection of wine. The atmosphere was beautiful, as if you were having dinner among close friends and family. Carlos was gracious, intelligent about the evening ahead and made us feel like we were welcome in his home. Chef delivered an impeccable meal; each bite better than the last. His food was inventive and intricate without being pretentious. We struggled to pick a favorite dish as each one was truly unique and delicious. All plates were paired perfectly with wine. I strongly recommend Maison Sun for both a special evening of celebration but also for a chance to sit comfortably and enjoy an evening with a friend, family or loved one.

Yelp
We've picked Maison Sun to celebrate three birthdays, and it was the right choice. We're a group that is well versed in fine dining, and we expected a nice dinner, but the team blew our expectations out of the water. We're still in awe at the whole experience, from the personable service to the exquisite food. The rhythm of the service was timely but not rushed, each bite bursting with more flavor than the last, and never did we go empty handed for wine. I'm not usually compelled to write reviews, but Maison Sun deserves it. If you are considering to go here, just do it. Thank you again to Carlos and the team.

Yelp
Looking for an upscale, fine dining experience and romantic vibe with 8 course meal and wine tasting experience with their in house sommelier. Look no further book that speakeasy experience and watch how maison sun makes you fall in love with your date of course lol

Dmitri P.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this place. The owner is a serious academic who decided to become a restaurateur and, in my opinion, succeeded beyond wildest expectations. The food is unbelievably good. I'd say it can stand up to any Michelin starred restaurant in the city. The dishes were unusual, inventive, and invariably delicious. I'm not big on eating vegetables, especially green, leafy ones. One of the dishes consisted mainly of cabbage, and I loved every bite! The atmosphere is more like that of a family meal. The service was impeccable. And the speakeasy concept added a little spice to the whole experience. Great place! Try it out and you won't be disappointed!

Maggie W.

Yelp
$365 price tag - this means that the food and service should be in line with restaurants like Ko, Chef's Table, Uchu, Per Se, etc. Extremely disappointing, the food was over seasoned with combinations that didn't work, and ingredients that were unimpressive. Wine pairing is the only reason they even got a star in this review - however, very small pours and variety. At the end of dinner, we were extremely underwhelmed and went to another restaurant to eat as we were all hungry.
