I honestly didn't look the show up prior, I wanted to see Audra! Gypsy was more of a variety show of children/young adults and their mom trying to create stardom. The theater is beautiful. Except for the many stairs, the atmosphere feels of the historic Victorian art.

Wil Snodgrass

Google
It's just too crowded knee wise for anyone over 5'11". I believe the seats must be from the original theater when people were shorter. (Several people needed seat changes and could be found missing parts of the show as they sat in the non-theater side. Great staff and Gypsy was incredible.

Tina H

Google
The theater was beautiful! The staff was great at getting everyone where they needed to be. Some snacks available for purchase. Water, wine and such are available to purchase. The show was emotionally moving. I will be recommending it! Exiting the theater was smooth and quick.

Kailin Zhao

Google
Came here to see Gypsy after phantom closed. Still the most beautiful theater on broadway. Seats are tiny for anyone taller than 5’6, and the back portion of the orchestra seats under the overhang can barely see the top portion of the stage. Great lighting, smooth entry, gorgeous interior

Jason Zahn

Google
Beautiful updated theatre that is finally getting some new action after decades of being dedicated solely to Phantom. This is a large venue and the lines to enter are often 30 minutes or longer, but security is simple and staff are helpful. Our seats were comfortable with above average legroom.

Anthony Divinagracia

Google
Watched a performance of “Phantom of the Opera” here back in 2022. The theater, though small, was very beautiful and really helped enhanced the performance. Me and my mother enjoyed the play and also bought merchandise after to remember the night!

Google
Watched my first ever Broadway show here at the Majectic Theater and it's the Phantom of the Opera! It's a beautiful show and I love every second of it. We were in line 30mins before the show and the process was very smooth. The staff are organized and everyone was ushered to the right way. The theater is also a hisctorical building and gave me the full "broadway experience". I felt like I traveled in time to old New York with the high ceilings and carved posts. The audio was great where were seated though were far from the stage. Loved the show and the theater!

David Clarke

Google
This theater is stunning. This was my 5th trip to the Majestic, but the first time seeing it without all of the Phantom of the Opera decorations. What a lovely Broadway house!

Yelp
The Majestic Theater is a historic landmark. I was so happy to return for Audra in Gypsy. My friend came to visit so we saw the show thrilled that there wasn't a stand in for Audra. I saw her perform before in Porgy and Bess. The theater is beautiful as well as our view seated in the orchestra. The show was worth it for the performance, sets Costumes and more. Since I have only seen the movie version with Natalie Wood this was a treat. I'm recommending you feel the spirit of this historic venue and enjoy the show!

Johanna B.

Yelp
4 stars for the combined average of the theater itself and the musical, Gypsy. I've seen many plays/musicals but don't remember the last time I visited the Majestic Theatre. It could have been when I saw Phantom of the Opera years ago but I'm not certain. I feel lukewarm about my recent experience with the theater and its seating. Though the Majestic Theater is opulent with red velvet curtains and gold trim, orchestra seats aren't what they seem or actually are. We had Row U Orchestra seats and when we arrived, getting to the seats required going up one huge staircase. In actuality, our seats resembled Mezzanine. I wasn't happy with the seats at all. Then there was the comfort factor. There wasn't much leg room or space between seats. We felt so cramped and uncomfortable. The seats I had for Phantom were far better, most likely 10 rows or less from the stage. As far as the production Gypsy, it was quite good. Audra McDonald has a phenomenal voice with 6 Tony Awards to prove it. In my opinion, without seeing Gypsy ever, she was better then the actual production. Don't get me wrong, Gypsy was entertaining but as a production, it doesn't fall in my top favorite Broadway shows category. And I've seen many. Audra McDonald as Mama Rose (played by many other notable actors in the past such as Patti Lupone and Tyne Daly) brought down the house. Absolutely amazing Overall, a good time though.

Julie D.

Yelp
It occurred to me I've been here before for Phantom of the Opera. Quite possibly my favorite theater. We watched Audra kill it as Gypsy. The theater has been renovated, but the seats are super tight. You have a great view no matter where you seat, but you will for sure end up brushing up next to your seatmate. I kept leaning forward to avoid touching the person to my right who was a stranger. Go watch Audra dominate this musical.

Cara T.

Yelp
I saw Gypsy here last night with my family. The show is a 100/10!!! A MUST SEE!!! I can't speak higher of the show, staging, costumes, performances. It was perfection. Now for the theater itself. This was previously the theater for Phantom of the Opera. It is large with lots of seats. The front mezzanine was perfect and we had a great view of the entire stage. The seats are on an incline, so even if there is someone tall in front of you, you can see clearly. The biggest downside was the seats are very tight. Be prepared to be touching the people next to you. There are restrooms and a bar on each level. We didn't wait in line at all to grab a drink at intermission! The bathroom line was super long and I feel like the workers could have organized the line better to make it more clear where the end of the line was. This show also started right on time! So be ready in you seats at start time. Overall, a very enjoyable night at the theater!

Stephanie Y.

Yelp
Beautiful theatre! Good view even from the upper section. Sat in the upstairs area and wasn't blocked by anything hanging from the ceiling. Also good access to restroom though there were fewer than 10 stalls in the restroom I visited. See view that I had from upper section during Gypsy.

Maggie B.

Yelp
This is a gorgeous, old school New York theater. I came to see Gypsy. The carpets and seats are plush red velvet. The theater itself has been recently renovated and is stunningly ornate with gold decor and a massive, sparkling chandelier in the center of the ceiling. The seats, however, were a bit tight. My partner was quite uncomfortable because he couldn't stretch out his knees.

Paula R.

Yelp
I recently saw Gypsy the show was amazing but it was also my first time back at the majestic after Phantom closed and they renovated the lobby area. This is a rare Broadway theater that has plenty of stalls in the women's room.

Jo W.

Yelp
Oh Majestic Theatre, I'll always think of you fondly even when we've said goodbye. Flowers fade, the fruits of summer fade, but I promise you that sometimes I will think of you. I've been here 3 times to see Phantom of the Opera, first in February 2020 RIGHT before the pandemic shut down New York, and two times during a 9-day visit in March 2023, a month before PotO closed. The Majestic Theater is iconic for being the home of Phantom of the Opera for 35 years, starting in January 1988. Many millennials don't know of a world in which Phantom of the Opera didn't exist, so to see the Majestic close after the Phantom's historic run is heartbreaking. Wonderful memories here!

Heidi T.

Yelp
I'm a 69 year old woman with health issues who was shocked to find the one restroom was filled with both men and women who all shared the four stalls, mirrors and sinks! Not only did I have to clean off the urine splatterings after the man who came out of the stall, but I couldn't adjust my clothing in the mirror with strange men standing beside me. I can't even imagine the fear I'd have if alone in that bathroom with a male. We travel to NYC frequently and this was the first time I've ever seen this. We won't be going back to the Majestic. How terribly disrespectful to women...

Daviyion J.

Yelp
Beautiful theater; seating was surprisingly comfy with legroom at least where I was at. Even though Phantom of the Opera is ending soon, I'm looking forward to coming to see another show in this theater again.

Chris W.

Yelp
Finally got to visit this theater and watched the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. The show itself is simply divine and breathtaking. Still the most BEAUTIFUL musical I've seen so far. PERFECT performance and HEAVENLY music. (Saw it once already in Austin. Never gets old.) The theater is pretty old. Needs some renovation. Restroom lines were way too long for the girls. Seats are too close together and small. Still, a wonderful experience. Hope everyone continue to support the arts!

Ramona G.

Yelp
I came here with my parents to watch Phantom of the Opera. It's my absolute favorite musical and I've seen it at multiple venues including London (2012), Las Vegas (2009), San Diego (2015) and now New York! The Majestic Theatre is nice, however the seats are definitely uncomfortable. I'm only 5ft tall and there was no leg room at all. They overcrowded the seats too much. The show was great! The performers had fantastic voices and I'm so glad that I got to finally see the show on Broadway since it's been a dream of mine. I must say though that from the 4 shows of Phantom of the Opera that I've seen, my favorite has to be the Las Vegas one back in 2009. I actually thought the best production of it would be in London's West End since that's where it originated but that one didn't really have a wow factor for me.

Shelly V.

Yelp
The Security outside of the theater was pleasant while keeping order with two lines. There was a quick security check point of bags. The theater staff was positioned every few feet to provide direction to our seats. Richard the bartender downstairs by the restrooms was very kind and sold me a Phantom of the Opera drink/wine in a memorable cup. Phantom of the Opera truly an Artistic Masterpiece. Orchestra Setting Props Dancing Singing Costumes Must see before the production ends February 2023.

Chelsea L.

Yelp
It's the theater for Phantom that's been playing over these decades. You can feel the history but also the oldness. It's in dire need of renovation. I went during winter and it wasn't cold nor hot. Pretty good heating system. However, there were only three stalls for women in the mezzanine floor. You can imagine the long line of ladies just waiting... The acoustics are actually quite good from my area (mezzanine, third row, center left). Maybe wished for more bass sound but it's already better than the other Broadway theatres (example: new Amsterdam, winter garden theater) When phantom closes on its final curtain call, a team needs to come into Majestic and magically modernize the place!!

Marko H.

Yelp
Magnificent theatre. Was there last Xmas to show my children NYC at the holidays. Also a chance for my daughter to see Phantom live. My son and I had seen it in August. Sound was amazing. The show was, as always, phenomenal. My fifth viewing. The lovely woman at the ticket box not only got us tickets for the Monday evening showing but the next day she remembered us and found obstructed first row seats for my children for the next day matinee at a reduced price!

Michele D.

Yelp
Beautiful theatre where I was fortunate enough to see one of my favorite plays of all time The Phantom of the Opera twice! Try to use the bathroom downstairs because the one upstairs is small and not enough stalls for us ladies on a 15 minute intermission. The staff here has always been welcoming.

Bill B.

Yelp
The theater is a nice place to see a show. Good site lines and stage area. Could use a few more bathroom areas I did find that there is a lot of slanted or uneven spots in the floor

Avery D.

Yelp
Came to see Phantom of the Opera before it closed for good! Paid $100 for a ticket that were pretty far back in the mezzanine. It was kind of hard to see the stage from that far away. Wouldn't recommend. I LOVE this musical, but didn't love the performance. I've seen it before about 7 years ago and thought it was phenomenal so had high expectations. I just didn't love the Phantom or Raoul. The theatre is beautiful. The bathrooms were pretty nice and had a little seating area in the one I went into.

Yara D.

Yelp
The theater was good. The chairs were ok. Alcohol was too expensive.(Thus the minus star). Very sad to see Phantom of the Opera close, but the experience was amazing! Great performance. Got goosebumps and teary eyed.

Jess B.

Yelp
The Majestic Theater never disappoints! This was my second time coming here, and my experience was just as amazing now as it was the first time. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, eager to help you find your seat or serve drinks. The performance was absolutely perfect! I hope they keep the Phantom play and don't cancel it. It's a staple of NYC Broadway!

Ellen N.

Yelp
Typical theater in NYC. There were lots of stairs. The seats were comfortable. Bathrooms were outdated. However it wasn't a surprise compared to other theaters.

Kalyn E.

Yelp
The Majestic is everything you expect of a Broadway Theatre. Beautiful architecture. Stunning artwork. The staff there are nice, many of them New Yorker type nice. They'll go out of their way to assist theatre guests. Word to the wise: get there early. Go to the bathroom BEFORE the show. There will be a massive line for the ladies restroom at intermission and it will be difficult if not impossible to make it back to your seat before the start of the second act of the show. I won't be reviewing the show itself as Phantom of the Opera will be closing in April 2023 and another show will inevitably take its place.

Hope A.

Yelp
Love this theatre. Beautiful! Wonderful location near restaurants and our favorite hotel. Highly recommend going to the Majestic to see Phantom of the Opera while it's still showing.

Cassandra F.

Yelp
Amazing theater. Helps that the Phantom is here, and I LOVE the Phantom. It's very charming and old fashioned. The style fits the Phantom perfectly. The lobby is surprisingly large, and it's a separate room from the theater itself. That's where the bar and merch tables are at. The staff was all very friendly and the ambience was great.

Rob S.

Yelp
This was my first experience related to NYC/Broadway. We were looking for something to do, outside of the normal work we were doing while in town, and checked with the ticket booth at our hotel. Probably not the best prices, but they were able to help us and get our feet wet with a show. Walking into the Majestic, it has the look and feel of where Phantom of the Opera should be performed. The classic theater ... maybe vintage would be a good word, almost has a creepy element about it. Part of that might be the fact that you know what you are about to see, but any way you cut it, this place is pretty magnificent! The sound and acoustics were top notch. It was amazing how they do set changes while the play is happening, yet you don't see them doing it. If you have never experienced Broadway, you should consider checking this theater out.

Delilah B.

Yelp
Beautiful theater, amazing production of rhe phantom of the opera. We had so much fun.

Melissa C.

Yelp
The Phantom of the Opera is a great show - it's a classic for sure, so no complaints there, and I'll want to catch another show again if I make it back in time before the show retires. However, my ratings do need to consider the fact that this building may be getting too old for today's world - terrible plumbing, not enough restrooms, seats are too narrow, overall space can be cleaner, etc. I also wonder if the inflated prices for both drinks and the tickets themselves are reasonable / sustainable for this old theater.

Adriana Q.

Yelp
Just watched the Phantom of the Opera and omg!!!! Just Wowzers The production was incredible! Amazing cast and crew. The music and singing and acting were all superb. I'm coming back for more!!

Tricia G.

Yelp
New York is one of THE best places I've ever been to (I'm not that well traveled, but still . . . ). The Majestic wasn't as pretty as the last theatre we were at in April, but it was still very nice. The cool & dapper looking gentleman who checked our purses and bags on the way in also directed foot traffic inside. Smooth. Adequately numbered and friendly staff. Nice merchandise to purchase, and the pricing wasn't through the roof. Beautiful area outside as well, with lots of photo opps. 'The Phantom' was magnificent, in story and in set design. No wonder it's the "longest-running show in Broadway history!" Hope to be back.

Joyce L.

Yelp
I can't believe Majestic Theatre has only 172 reviews so far. I came here to watch Phantom of the Opera which supposed to be the longest running broadways in New York City. Anyhow, this theatre is antique but beautiful inside. I recommend you get orchestra sitting so that you can enjoy the show. I sat on the top so it was hard to see and it was very high. If you're a fan of Phantom then you'll enjoy the show with live band/orchestra and talented performers.

Lourdes M.

Yelp
This theater houses the longest running Broadway show. It has majestic interior. The sound and effects are theatrically amazing. The orchestra and the performing actors did wonderful performances. Seats has bigger legroom in comparison to other theaters. We were seated in center mezzanine level but due to the theater's large capacity, we felt that we were still far from the stage. Our seating location got a good view for the opening act effects. As expected, the food in concession and the souvenir items are on the expensive side. Yet, Broadway patrons fell for it. I agree with other reviewers with its comfort rooms- it doesn't fit with the majestic ambiance of the theater.

The Critical J.

Yelp
Phantom of the Opera: PROS: I've seen this play many times in this theatre and I always liked it. This new Christine is very talented and shows promise. Beautiful entranceway to the theatre and the staff is nice and professional CONS: This theatre is in desperate need of renovation. The seats and carpets are all worn out. Also, the performance was lackluster. Terrible acting by most, and the Phantom couldn't sing at all. They also changed many scenes like the graveyard, masquerade, and the Music of the night final scene. OVERALL: I get that you need to change it up, and I like that they tried but they did not do a good job at it. I would wait for the next generation of performers before going

Anthony C.

Yelp
Came here to see phantom, it was great. Unfortunately, phantom is ending, but I look forward to what they put on next.

Simone W.

Yelp
This theatre is true to its name "Majestic". It is a gorgeous theatre, where the Phantom of the Opera is performed. The detail in the theatre is amazing. The acoustics are great it made me feel like the music was right next to me. The seats we had were perfect. The chandelier part is my favorite part. Still trying to figure out how they managed that. The place is nice the play is amazing. Longest running Broadway show. 30 years. The singing, the orchestra, the dancing everything made my time here very memorable. I can't really comment on the bathroom since I made sure to not get up during intermission because I just knew it would be crazy. Just stayed and took some amazing photos. Some people were saying that the staff is rude but I saw first hand how some people were just straight up not listening to them. Our usher told our line of people to wait because she needed to get some more bulletins (playbill's) from another usher. People in another group bypassed her and went to their seats. Then came back to her saying "you didn't give us playbill's". (face palm).

Gyr N.

Yelp
We came to the Majestic Theatre to watch The Phantom of the Opera and we were not disappointed one bit. In term of size and layout, this is pretty typical in comparision to the other theatres nearby. The staff was very strict with COVID rules and that is a plus in crowded places. Phantom of the Opera play is the best we have ever experienced.

Francine L.

Yelp
Phantom of the opera was the show I watched inside the Majestic Theatre. Before the show has started I was waiting outside with a lot of other people that were all about to watch one of the oldest running shows. The inside is very beautiful and the staff that assisted with seating were all super nice and chill. I also bought a bottle of water from the concessions which had plenty of drinks to stay hydrated during the show. I would totally recommend coming to this theater because it felt very nice in a way because it was small and it seemed so much more personal. The only one maybe minor thing is that the bathrooms are going to take a long time during intermission, especially on the ladies side. But if it's still not there than you can wait till later and go. Tip- Enjoy the show!!! :)

Loretta R.

Yelp
Saw The Phantom of the Opera in 2022. Beautiful theater and fabulous play by a talented cast.

Sonali K.

Yelp
A beautiful theater that I've seen my all time favorite multiple times - The Phantom of the Opera. Thankful I was able to see it one last time this November before they close the show next February. The Majestic is truly majestic - a large lobby area, and staircase down to the restrooms, and the theater itself is remarkable with an old-world feel that is super charming. Don't expect much room in the seats, it's an older theater after all, but once the performance starts, you won't be bothered anyway. The staff is always fantastic!

Chelsea E.

Yelp
I feel like this is your standard 1920's theater located in (of course) the Theater District of NYC. I appreciated the elaborate architecture and how the proscenium arch has been painted black to align with the darkness/mystery surrounding Phantom. It really fits in well with the imagery of the show! Truly, the stage itself is one of the "stars" of the show since it's really a play within a play at times! I will admit that some of the reviews on here had me worked up about an impolite staff. I thought "Ugh I'm spending all this money to get treated like crap?!" However, I did not have that experience AT ALL! And I went to the Saturday matinee and didn't at all feel like I was being rushed out. I went to the restroom after the show (as did many others) and no one told us we had to immediately leave. I found the staff to be totally welcoming. (Although a caveat here is that this was during a week when all of Broadway was asking for donations for AIDS relief after each show, so I do question if they felt they had to be nice for people to get donations? I'd like to assume positive intent, but just wanted to call that out). The reason they lose a star (as others pointed out) is the bathroom situation. I was on the Orchestra level seating, so from what I know, we at least had a decent amount of stalls (14 I think), but there is still opportunity for more given that guests need to quickly use the restroom and get back to their seats before intermission ends. I was able to make it there and back because I knew to hustle there immediately after the Phantom's sorrowful soliloquy. Also, the bathrooms are just not nice. They feel like they haven't been updated since the 1980s. And there's only 3 sinks, so then a line forms of people trying to wash their hands. Either way, I would not let any of this ever deter me from seeing Phantom. The show was an absolute 5/5 hands down! I would recommend it to anyone going to NYC. There is a reason this show has been playing here for (almost) 32 straight years. It is an absolute classic!

Ann F.

Yelp
Do NOT book ORCHESTRA Row B, Seat 14 because they put a WALL next to the aisle seat and you cannot exit. You book thinking you have an aisle but they put a wall there. Have fun climbing over 7 people to exit and enter your seat. This is a fire hazard that should be looked into.

Jordan C.

Yelp
Great venue. My first experience going to broadway. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back for another show.

Ana R.

Yelp
I have always wanted to experience the Phantom of the Opera, since I have always loved the songs. Therefore, I purchased tickets to see the play. I was seated in the Front Mezz Row F, seat number 4. It was a perfect seat because I got an incredible view of the show. The theatre is absolutely beautiful. My boyfriend and I were greeted by two people seating in our seats, however that was quickly resolved by the staff. They were friendly and just wanted to get everyone settled in as soon as possible. During the interval, I managed to take a photo of the theatre and the stage was utilized in every way possible during the show. I won't say how because of a possible spoiler alert (hint: it's better not to sit all the way in the front or the front row orchestra). It was a beautiful show, in a beautiful theatre, with amazingly talented cast!

Cassie M.

Yelp
Gorgeous theatre for Phantom of the Opera, 30 years running on Broadway! At first I was a little disappointed by our high up balcony seats (Mezzanine row C, seats 108-120). But we could actually see everything perfectly well. After walking down to the lower level during intermission to check it out, I didn't mind the balcony at all because it meant we had a full view of the oh-so-important chandelier, and could fully appreciate the awesome choreography and stage blocking in this show, looking down from above. Pro tip: there are women's restrooms both on the upper level and down in the basement. The lines get insanely long at intermission, so plan strategically.

Karen S.

Yelp
Any time I leave a theater and I'm not hobbling out on my bum knee, I know the seating is pretty good. My Orchestra E6 seat may have been problematic if anyone taller was seated in front of me. The risers on that level aren't very steep. But I personally didn't have a problem seeing the stage. I would also recommend taking advantage of the coat check. Sitting on your cost could decrease your comfort by half. Concessions are at the typical crazy Broadway markups: $5 for 16oz of water. A commemorative sippy cup of wine can be had for 14 and 28 bucks. Come hydrated or pre-game it. Actually, given the show, pre-gaming is a great idea! For the Phantom of the Opera production, the best seats are the center Orchestra (AA - H 101 - 104) just for the chandelier prop alone. Note... There's lots of very bright pyrotechnics. If you're seated close to the stage like I was, it can be migraine inducing. A warning prior to buying your seats would be nice. There's an actual orchestra pit! I was pleasantly surprised to see some Union musicians gainfully employed. The music is still amplified as are the actors on stage. My seat was right in front of a very obvious speaker. The sound isn't as balanced as I would like, but given the age and logistics of the theater, putting in an ultra-modern sound system in a 1927 theater isn't high on anyone's priority list. Especially when it wasn't awful, just noticeably unbalanced. I'm picky about sound in a musical. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I didn't use the restroom but it was such slow going, that we ended up getting vociferously herded out of the lobby before our friends who went down as soon as the show was over, were finished. Slow your roll on kicking us out into the cold when you know your restrooms can't handle the volume. That's the only thing knocking off a star. No one likes getting yelled at. The Phantom of the Opera has been home to The Majestic for so long, I'm curious as to what the stage would look like with another production. Because a lot of the look is based on this particular show. Grand and gilded like any 89 year old theater should be.

Rita I.

Yelp
The reason why this is one of the longest running broadway play is probably because its attention to detail and how they make every part of the show feel extremely magical. However we were sitting on the 4th row so perhaps that might be the reason why I felt like I was pretty much part of it hahaha I absolutely LOVED IT! This was my first time watching Phantom of the opera on broadway and last time I watched the movie was years ago. I had completely forgotten what It was about to be honest so it was really nice not knowing what might occur next. In the beginning and towards the middle there's a lot of lights & action going on and since everything is pretty dark it's brighter so if you are sensitive to that I would be aware, especially if you are sitting very close and in the middle because you will be under or in front of the famous chandelier. The actors were incredibly talented not sure if it was my wine but each time they would sing I would get goosebumps especially when they would hit a high note. The phantom was played by Ben Crawford, Christine by Elizabeth Welch and last but not least Raoul by Rodney Ingram, thank you so much for the wonderful experience and hard work from everyone in the cast! In the intermission I ran to the restroom downstairs which of course became jammed packed, not sure if there were any other restrooms. You can also purchase a few souvenirs as well as some items that are signed by the cast. I will definitely recommend this broadway play and you will definitely fall in love and I cannot wait to come back !

Nieves O.

Yelp
We had the best time! I got the tickets before 7pm At the theatre and was lucky to purchase 4 good seats at the orchestra at $149each (g11-14) on the same day. Gates opened at 7:15pm and it started on time. The performers were magnificent ... and the theatre was well maintained. It was really full too. Now , For the half show break, We went to the bar . I can't believe our water at $6.00each (of course with the phantom logo and $5.00 add on for the container when you purchase soda or alcohol . Well... it was unbelievable but true . It's a good souvenir though, the container for water and soda! Lol. Well, if you're not that thirsty, don't go to the bar. But as a whole... my son and 2 of my girlfriends went back to our hotel singing happily! ''Twas a memorable experience at the majestic theatre broadway nyc!

Yelp
Beautiful theater, Phantom of the Opera Tuesday night was a great show. However, one of the staff members completely ruined what was probably the last time I'll ever get to see it. After purchasing a shirt, I sat on the bench 3 feet from the still-busy line to book an Uber. After 7-8 minutes, a man came up to me and yelled that the theater was closing and I needed to leave. Taken aback, I told him I bought a shirt and was just waiting while there was still a line. He then YELLED that this wasn't "Grand Central Station" and that I needed to get out if I wasn't waiting for anyone. He seemed so certain I was alone, (which I was, and he just called me out in front of everyone) and at his rude tone I responded, "wow." This grown man, an employee, then mocked me, saying "wow" back at me. Flustered, I walked quickly to the door and passed it by a few steps, and in embarrassment muttered "where"s the exit." He then proceeded to humiliate me in front of everyone by saying in the most scathing tone possible, "It's the giant door with the big glowing sign above it." One of the other employees was nice enough to offer me a quick "sorry" on my way out. I then waited outside for my Uber, and was accosted by a homeless man who literally followed me around asking me if I was an actress, until a kind woman stepped in and pretended to know me. I took a 24 hour train ride, spent 400 bucks on tickets, more on a hotel, and made the trip alone after my husband decided to tell me he wanted a divorce 3 days before our trip. I love POTO with all my heart and felt utterly blindsided and humiliated at being singled out. I was dressed nicely, behaved respectfully, only to be treated like garbage, and my night, which was already very hard for me, was made unbearable. That manager/usher is a disgrace to theater, and frankly, a danger to patrons.

Yelp
Beautiful theatre with one of the most amazing productions of classic broadway. While other shows come and go, the Phantom of the Opera continues on. Get half price tickets at the TKTS booth. In Orchestra section, the best seats are before the overhang ~L. There's a short intermission. HINT head to the front towards the stage quickly if you want a picture during intermission. Then head to the 2nd floor where there are bathrooms with long lines but it does go swiftly. Enjoy the show!
