Majete Wildlife Reserve

This is a once in a life time level experience. From the cool washcloths every time you return to the lodge to the fantastic accommodations to the super helpful and experienced staff to ALL the fantastic meals and snacks and treats. It was over the top. I was with a large group and we were given excellent service and support. Our guides were top notch and we saw things people only dream of seeing. Amazing. Not to be missed…

We are two women from Sweden who spent 3 days in Majete Game Reserve in November. It was an fantastic experience. The park offers great guides for the game drives, well educated and so friendly. We also did some self-drive which was uncomplicated and they had online maps that were easy to understand. You really get a private and exclusive experience since there are very few tourists. The vegetation was quite thick and it is sometimes difficult to see animals, but we did see a lot of lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, different kinds of antilopes etc. Next time we will go for the leopards! We did the morning and afternoon game drive with guide and self-drive in between. We enjoyed our days here very much and recommend everyone to go here!

It was such a wonderful experience..! We spent a night there and the staff was excellent. Food was really good. The guide Alex was really great and went out of the way to give us the best experience. His was very knowledgeable and gave us great lessons of how to identify animals and find them by following their footprints. Amazing experience.. I would encourage anyone who has the ability to visit and spend a night.

Majete National Park is an amazing place! The nature is so beautiful, and there is so much to see. We were lucky to see lions, and on another visit, I even saw a leopard! The staff are the best! They are so kind and always ready to help. You can really see that they care about the park and the visitors. If you love animals and nature, you will love this park. I can’t wait to visit again!

Majete Wildlife Reserve is a remarkable destination! It’s known for its successful transformation from a depleted area to a thriving wildlife haven. 1. Wildlife Majete is home to the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino) and many other species like zebra, kudu, and sable antelope. Visitors often praise the abundance and diversity of wildlife. 2. Accommodation Thawale Camp and Mkulumadzi Lodge are popular choices. Thawale Camp offers spacious rooms with verandahs overlooking wildlife, while Mkulumadzi Lodge provides a luxurious experience. 3.Activities. Game drives are a highlight, with knowledgeable guides enhancing the experience. Some visitors mentioned the disappointment of not being able to do game walks or boat safaris due to weather conditions. 4.Scenery. The reserve’s landscape is beautiful, with rolling hills, miombo woodlands, and the Shire River. It’s a great place for photography and nature walks. Service: The staff at the lodges are often praised for their friendliness and professionalism. Special occasions, like anniversaries, are celebrated with thoughtful touches.

Very well managed reserve with knowledgeable guides. We have been to both Thawale and Mkulumadzi lodges and loved both. Great food and warm hospitality. It is runny African parks NGO for the good of the animals

With so many wild animals fearing for an imminent extinction, Majete National Park a successful attempt at making sure some of them are saved. They have the big five. I couldn't get to see any of them but it was evident they were there. We only managed to see some of the impala family and warthogs. The view from Dr David Livingstone's camp onto the Kapichira Barrage was awesome. The roads are amazingly good. The guides and rangers are very friendly and could tell us all about the park and its game. Hell, they even have some nice tales on how some of the animals got their names. The camps at Thawale Lodge were scary at first but we slept through the night without any issues. The food was great. The staff were friendly too. It is a great getaway. I was particularly interested in the floral composition of the view so you'll notice a lot more photos of trees than animals.

Mejete is a great place. We were positively suprised by our experience. We had heard a lot about Liwonde NP, but less about Mejete. We saw many animals. Not the big 5, but a lot of elephants. Our guide was great. We stayed 1 night at Thawale Lodges. This place is great and the staff is professionnal. Food was delicious and very good quality. A great chef. The lodge is great and a lot of animals come to drink water (including elephants). We stayed in a ‘’luxuary tent’’ with AC, shower and hot water. There is also a natural pool. We booked with a company called the Travel Centre in Blantyre. The Amaryllis hotel provided their contact information. Transportation, food and and accommodation were included. It is also possible to book on the Mejete reserve website directly. It is also possible to go with your own car and just spend the day there. I highly recommend for a budget friendly safari. Cheaper than most safari in Kenya and Tanzania. Also less crowded. Thank you !
