Cute little hole in the wall- family owed restaurant. They were all super friendly. All the rolls are pretty standard Dallas prices $11-$20 rolls. I got the golden California roll and the Cajun Crawfish Roll. I thought they were both good, I didn’t think they were over the top or anything, but I’ve heard that their really good rolls are raw. So since mine weren’t the raw rolls, maybe that’s why I wasn’t blown away. If you order a soft drink, they come from the bottle (not fountain), which is totally fine. Overall I’d go back.

I absolutely LOVED this place. From the fresh sushi, to the cozy atmosphere, and very attentive service. Can’t believe it doesn’t have 5 stars. Their fish is so fresh, and clean. There was nothing on the menu we didn’t like.

Google
Two of my favorite things, great sushi and a casual setting! I ordered the mango salmon roll and the downtown roll, both were fresh and delicious. We also got the cucumber salad and chicken teriyaki. I recommend!

We enjoyed all of our rolls. The fish was very fresh and were a good size/portions. Wish there were more roll options without crab.

This is a really good Japanese spot that you should definitely try. I’ve been to a lot of Japanese spots in Dallas and this gets my stamp of approval. The sushi is really good here. They have amazing unagi (eel) sushi. The smoked salmon sushi was so warm and good. Definitely order their black cod! I always order that at Japanese spots and it doesn’t disappoint here. It’s incredible! So warm, soft & flavorful! Beef gyoza was really good too and so crisp on the outside! Wasn’t a fan of the green tea ice cream or seaweed salad.

If you're in uptown and craving sushi, look no further than this gem of a restaurant. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. 🤤☺️🍣 The menu is diverse, catering to both traditional and adventurous palates. My personal favorites were the Rainbow Roll and the Uni Sake Shooter. The Rainbow Roll was a delightful mix of fresh fish, perfectly balanced with creamy avocado and crisp cucumber. Each bite was a symphony of flavors and textures. The Uni Sake Shooter was an experience in itself. The briny, creamy sea urchin paired with smooth sake was an umami bomb that left a lasting impression. Service was impeccable, with attentive staff who are knowledgeable about the menu and eager to make recommendations. The ambiance, coupled with top-notch sushi, makes this place a must-visit. Highly recommended for any sushi lover! 🩷☺️

Google
This is a small, cozy restaurant with jazzy music in the background. The fish was excellent and they were very generous with the cuts. They have a ton of different rolls and I found them to be quite good. Some were better balanced than others, but it was quite good and adventurous chosing. My only nitpicks are with the service and desert . They only offer ice creams with desert and given they high quality sushi, I thought they might have something to seal the night off with (although I was way too full this first trip). My second complaint was the service. The servers were a bit difficult to get information from. They were nice and courteous, but given their extensive menu, I felt more interaction of helping to find popular dishes would be helpful. Overall, A+. You're going to be getting good, large pieces of fish and walking out both full and with spending a reasonable amount.

We were visiting Dallas and felt like having sushi and found this gem. It's a cozy restaurant with great rolls/sushi/sashimi. For sashimi, we tried fatty tuna belly, sea urchin and mackerel. Those were fresh and flavorful. We also tried some of our goto rolls (a spider roll, a rainbow roll and a dragon roll) and loved it too. Then at the end the chef made us torched salmon sushi, on the house! It was a nice surprise and the sushi melted in the mouth too. Overall we loved the food and experience so strongly recommend this place :)

Yelp
Sushi was decent. The sushi was very cold, I didn't like the temperature of it. My spicy tuna in my roll was a bit mushy. Service was okay. Ambiance, small intimate restaurant. Snow crab nigiri was great. Would I return? Yes..

Kady L.

Yelp
Cute little neighborhood sushi place. It is intimate and small inside. The waiters are very attentive. I think it would have been helpful to know what the special of the day was and maybe some recommendations. Would definitely come back to try more ideas and hopefully can catch their lunch special.

Yelp
A fantastic dining experience. The service was great, food was excellent, and a small business environment. Let me start with the Philly. We started with Shishido peppers and the yellowtail carpaccio. Also, the cucumber, shrimp and squid salad was awesome. We were a bunch of rules, which were all good. Everything was fresh and the temperature of the sushi was perfect not too cold or too warm like some places. We closed out the night with a tempura fried green tea ice cream.

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
Bright and Cheerful Neighborhood Sushi Bar. Friendly and Attentive Service. With future visits, I'll be skipping their heavily battered 'shrimp tempura' and not refined 'rice'. Instead of ordering sushi, I am anticipating to be smiling big once again at their generous portions of incredibly fresh "Sashimi", including Toro; Yellowtail; and, Shima-Aji! CHEERS!

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Had a great dining experience here! Was traveling for work and was seeking a solo sushi date and this was the perfect spot! I got to sit right in front of sushi chefs, watching them make the different rolls which I always enjoy. Service was quick and friendly. The sushi was delicious and fresh. Would definitely return if they had one of these where I live. Would recommend for a great, casual sushi spot.

Yelp
I am a little bit torn on posting this review. Maji has some of the best sushi I've ever had, but I hope it doesn't get too busy to where I can never get a table. We started with the shrimp tempura because they were out of the baby octopus tempura. The shrimp was very good, and the batter was light and crispy. Octopus next time! Next, we moved onto the salmon tartare which has a very unique presentation, and it was amazing - - fresh salmon and perfectly ripe avocados topped with an egg yolk. It is always difficult to get a runny egg just right, and this one was perfect. It was runny but with a little bit of stickiness that helped hold everything together in the dish. After that, we got 2 types of nigiri, unagi and a different type of maguro (forgot the name but melts in the mouth). Then, the chef brought out an additional tuna with a special soy sauce that was slightly seared. It was phenomenal and had a slightly smoky taste to it. We tried the Snow Mountain Roll (yellowtail, crab, white tuna with rice and two sauces) and the Tuna Lover Roll (no rice, salmon, crab, and avocado wrapped in soy paper then topped with tuna and yuzu ponzu). The inside is cute and only holds 39 people. The only suggestion I have is to put some pillows along the bench seat to lean against. They serve all filtered water, and the service was great. Dallas really needs more restaurants like this that are small, cozy, and unique with character. Everything here was top-notch! Highly recommend and added some photos of the dishes we tried and the inside (at lunchtime).

Yelp
Really good fresh sushi. Casual and comfortable decor. I good selection of rice less rolls as well as

Jackie G.

Yelp
I have to admit when I arrived I was bothered because it smelled like there might be some plumbing issues. I thought, let's just eat fast and get going since the reviews are great. After ordering, our food didn't come for close to an hour. About 50 minutes, I kindly asked if she knew why it was taking so long. She mentioned there was only one chef for the day and he takes his time. I regretted asking because the quality was so good. My friend said "I saw he takes his time like he is perfecting each piece." I tried the unagi, I've never paid $5 for *one* piece and I couldn't help but order a few more! The chef later came over to apologize and offered a discount. I said no we can not accept(the food and quality was too good, worthy of the cost and wait.) He offered dessert and we couldn't pass that up lol the cheesecake was absolutely divine, I could cry. Overall I can see the chef is very passionate about his craft and must have learned from someone who also takes pride in their craft. Would love to eat here again.

Yelp
Great sushi place! We had the toro, hamachi and sweet shrimp and all were so fresh. Service was excellent in this quaint neighborhood place. We were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the seafood. We will definitely be returning.

Elina M.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Small, intimate atmosphere for date nights or small get-togethers with friends.

Marjorie O.

Yelp
A new addition to Uptown Dallas, we have enjoyed every visit. The menu is varied and creative. We particularly like the Salmon Tartare and apologize for not being able to label each picture. They have a nice selection of riceless rolls, Bento boxes for lunch and very fresh, tasty fish!

Lisa Y.

Yelp
Decided for sushi for our first official Texas meal. Not ideal but we were pleasantly impressed. The service was great and the food was amazing. Great way to start our trip!

Andrew H.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service! For appetizers ordered the avocado bomb and veggie tempura, both were great and the price was very fair for a sushi spot. Tempura breading was not too thick, veggies were delicious. We followed that up with sake (salmon) and maguro (tuna) sashimi. It was clear from the moment our server set it down that the cut was high quality, and flavor did NOT disappoint! The next course was a pair of sushi rolls, both were delicious and clearly prepared with care. The chef even gave us a couple specials free of charge, both tasty and very much appreciated! I live near the beach in California, a place where seafood rarely disappoints. I was not expecting sushi in Dallas to be amazing (something about the landlocked nature makes me doubt the quality) but this is some of the best sushi I've had regardless of locations! I'll absolutely be back, and a thanks to the chefs and the servers that made our night so special!!

Jingwen Z.

Yelp
Great sushi place that offers both Americanized rolls and more traditional pieces, all of which are delicious. The regular salmon avo roll was pretty typical, but I loved the shrimp tempura and spider rolls, all of which had more ingredients balancing the flavors out than I expected. The rainbow roll tasted really fresh. Furthermore. The staff were wonderful and accommodating. Will be coming back!

Lexi W.

Yelp
I can't even put into words how AMAZING this sushi spot is!! Everything is so unbelievably fresh. The tuna literally melted in my mouth. I've been to a ton of high end sushi spots and it's the exact same quality!! 1000/10 will always recommend this spot to anyone

Dick N.

Yelp
Waitress couldn't be less enthused with her position. Only 2 out of the 4 rolls ordered were any good at all. Hard to believe a place like this has survived in a market as competitive as UpTown Dallas.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Good food and service. Inside is more of an intimate setting, doesn't feel stuffy though. I had the baked salmon and that was great. The sushi chef gave us some samplers too so we got to try out the cucumber salad and seared salmon. The salmon was nice and tender, I preferred it over the seared tuna that I ordered. Overall everything is nice. Parking is a bit odd to get onto thou.

Chef J.

Yelp
Amazing food. Amazing staff. The Tsunami drink was a big hit. Great presentation. Great variety of sake and beers. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend. Make a reservation if you can. It's worth it. I will definitely be back with my friends Ryo and Tom. Hamachi Kama wow. Sushi so fresh and a great variety. See you soon. Chef.

Christoph S.

Yelp
Great neighborhood sushi place that had a tough challenge following the previous owner. Maji has a really good selection of different fish cuts, even less common things like flounder and different kinds of eel. Fish is great quality and flavor. Good selection of other dishes like tuna tataki or tuna tartare. All very tasty and well prepared by a chef that smiles joyfully with every item he's preparing.

Jerry D.

Yelp
Service was poor! Pricing is unreasonable as to a price value relationship.... Will no be going back

P W.

Yelp
I prefer nigiri sushi and sashimi and rarely order rolls. All the sushi was fresh, delicious and the pieces were large. I like my sushi rice just a tiny bit warmer than the cold fish and this rice was not but that's just my preference. Service was amazing and the chef was very talkative funny and friendly.

Fang Y.

Yelp
Sushi is very good, the place is cutely decorated with a date ambiance, but I've had better service at a fast food restaurant. Also, the text for the lunch special is a little misleading. Each entree is supposed to come with a miso soup and california roll, but we only got the soup (we ordered rolls).

Brad W.

Yelp
Great little sushi place with a nice menu. It is a bit small but in a good way. They don't try to pack in too much seating so it stays quiet and peaceful. The service was great as was the quality of seafood. They even provide freshly ground wasabi as opposed to the rehydrated overpowering paste offered by others. If you have never had fresh wasabi, you are missing out. The sushi chef was also very patient to some overly demanding guests sitting a few seats down the bar. I would go again.

Camila S.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! The service was so great and the food was incredible! Debating coming back to visit another time this week before leaving Dallas! Along with a menu filled with lots of apps & rolls, they bring you a paper where you just write how many nigiri & how many sashimi you want of each and I'm in love! The Bluefin Toro & Fatty tuna were absolutely mouthwatering!

Sara A.

Yelp
highly recommended, My favourite food is sushi I have sampled many sushi restaurants across the world and this is seriously authentic! absolutely incredible tasting fresh sushi. it is our go to place. on par with the highest end Sushi is Dallas these chefs really know what they're doing. The seared options from the paper menu is unbelievable! We have been about 10 times now and introduced friends who have all had the same opinion. high end delicious can eat here dressed casual or dressy and no judgement I'm going again tonight with a friend!

Brooke B.

Yelp
Ok sushi but apparently you have to ask for utensils and soy sauce / wasabi separate .

Ali L.

Yelp
We had a panic roll which was delightfully spicy & delicious. We also had a lunch bento box with beef bulgogi. The salad in the bento box was crisp & fresh with a gingery dressing. The beef bulgogi was tender & flavorful. This is a really small establishment, but it's clean & the service is fantastic! Parking can definitely be a struggle as Maji Sushi is in a strip mall with very limited parking spots.

John M.

Yelp
Maji is a new sushi restaurant in Upton and it was delicious! The rolls and the sushi were amazing. They are very polite and accommodating. It is a small quant restaurant. I will be back!

Jonathan L.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Very large servings and fish is high quality and delicious. The service was also very nice. I will definitely be back!

Emily W.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place. We came here on a Saturday night and did not disappoint! The food, staff, and atmosphere were amazing! I loved the tuna tartare and the baked salmon roll and the gyoza especially! I will be coming back for sure.

M K.

Yelp
Neighborhood Resturant. Food was good, Service was excellent. Go ahead and show your support!

Philip W.

Yelp
5 Stars. New kids on the block but know what they're doing. The chefs always surprise me with something tasty and unique. High quality food, high quality service, and an intimate atmosphere perfect for date night or just a casual night out with friends. Will definitely be back again!

Mad H.

Yelp
Delicious food and GREAT service. Highlight was the torched salmon - it was marinated in house made soy sauce. Fantastic! Can't wait to come back for lunch.

JohnEd S.

Yelp
Food and service was fantastic. Nice atmosphere and very attentive service. The sashimi was fresh and the rainbow roll was delicious.

Ana O.

Yelp
Loved it here!!! The sushi chefs were amazing and the sushi was delicious!!! Definitely worth it!!

Thomas B.

Yelp
The sushi is fantastic. It is small laid back spot that feels almost familial. The service is excellent. My 7 year old son and I tried it fort first time today and will definitely be coming back even though we live 25 minutes away. My son had the Shrimp Tempura Roll and a California Roll both were excellent. I tried the Tornado and Las Vegas Fried Rolls as well as a piece of smoked Salmon Sashimi all of it was incredible. I love how calm and quiet the atmosphere is. Please come support them as they just opened September 2023. Absolutely awesome overall!

Evyn L.

Yelp
One of the best sushi places in the area. Small, intimate, well done. Service was great and menu was full of options no matter your taste.

Jessie S.

Yelp
This was such an exciting find! We stumbled upon it because another one place was super full. The ambiance was great, service was excellent and sushi was delicious. Worth the pretty penny.

Kieu W.

Yelp
Hidden little gem of a sushi spot that's modern and intimate. The service given by our server and sushi chefs were top notch. I really appreciate how attentive the entire staff was to our large group. The food was exceptional as well. You can't find this at most places, but for the amount given and the high quality of the fish, the cost your paying is so worth it. This place needs more recognition!!

Pranaav S.

Yelp
Fantastic food, ambiance and service. Employees are super polite and ensured we had a fantastic time as a walk in.

Aya D.

Yelp
This place is great! Amazing atmosphere, fresh fish and friendly staff. 10/10 would recommend

Erin M.

Yelp
This place is so good! Don't let the outside fool you - the best sushi we've come across in the downtown area. Fresh, yummy and inventive. I usually don't like most rice less rolls - but these actually became my favorite from the visit. From the staples to the specialty rolls - everything was so good. And the house hot sake was good as well! Can't wait to come back and try out more of the menu

Gin J.

Yelp
Awesome sushi! Love the rice less rolls especially the Tina Roll. Super friendly service!

Michelle Z.

Yelp
Excellent experience. We got takeout which can always be hit or miss. But the service even for takeout was excellent. The sushi was phenomenal. Generous portion of fish, absolutely amazing rolls. I'm not even a big sushi person, I only crave it occasionally, and I thought it was probably the best sushi I've had. Will definitely go again!

Samantha B.

Yelp
Got this delivered and it was amazing. We will definitely be adding this to our Friday night delivery rotations. The fish tasted so fresh and the sushi was beautiful

Niki B.

Yelp
Amazing hidden gem in Downtown Dallas. The restaurant was very quaint. The staff were amazing and the sushi was even better! We had the beef gyoza, crawfish volcano roll, and mahi roll and everything was so fresh and great portions! The sushi chef let us sample the seared salmon and definitely will order it next time. Please come visit this restaurant...you won't be disappointed!!

Jillian J.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! It didn't look like much from the outside but when we went in the place was super cozy, the food was so good and fresh, and the people working there were very kind and welcoming.

Nadine Z.

Yelp
Placed a large takeout order. It was prepared very quickly. The food was absolutely phenomenal and perfectly prepared. The portions and fish were extremely generous. Service was the best I've experienced, everyone was welcoming friendly and accommodating. Plus they included a sample to try which was also great! Will definitely come back/order again!
