I highly recommend dining in at Makalu! We just had the best experience there for dinner. The vibe was amazing, we loved the ambiance, the owners clearly put a lot of love and labor into the aesthetic of the space and it’s beautiful! We also LOVED our meal. We split the Korma Paneer curry and it was 10/10. We got the garlic naan bread with it and that was delicious as well. We additionally got the vegetarian momo and highly recommend it! Lastly, we got the lava cake for dessert and that was an unexpected highlight. We loved it! The service was amazing, the space was relaxing, and the food was great. We will definitely be returning. I also highly recommend dining in vs. takeout - we’ve done both, and our dining-in experience is what shined the most compared to takeout.

Delicious, beautiful food and decor. The chef/owner spent over a decade in fine dining and it really shows. Panipuri comes beautifully plated, def recommended along with the other Nepali specials. The classic Indian staples are solid too but I would recommend the chicken soup first (thukpa)

Had dinner with 3 friends and we had a lovely time. The atmosphere is chic and modern and the food was delicious and carefully prepared and presented. The service was warm and friendly and the owner even came out to greet us and make sure we enjoyed our experience. I highly recommend them! No liquor was served and I forgot to ask if you could bring your own.

Had a great experience here with a group of friends. The ambiance is pleasant, and the food quality is solid. We tried several dishes—*thaali* and *thukpa* were the highlights, while *momo* was decent. *Chatpat* had great flavor and texture, and *panipuri* was a healthier take. *Chowmein* was slightly burnt, but likely a one-time issue. Service was excellent—friendly, attentive staff with genuine smiles. I came all the way from Worcester; while I might not travel just for this spot again, I’d happily eat here if I’m in the area. Off topic : The place gives a cozy café/snack vibe—adding coffee/refreshers drinks/grab-and-go kind could attract more foot traffic. Only downside: it was quite cold inside, especially near the vent. Overall, highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Nepali/Indian flavors catered towards Western taste buds.

My friends and I went to dinner at Makalu last night. After searching for a Nepali restaurant for so long, we were thrilled to finally find a good one that serves authentic Nepali food. The restaurant also offers Indian cuisine, which we didn’t get a chance to try this time, but we definitely plan to sample it in the future. We enjoyed chicken momo, veggie momo, chow mein, pani puri, chatpate, chicken chili, pork momo, chicken wings, chicken sekuwa, chicken choila and chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. I would recommend everything and rate it a solid 10/10. The service was outstanding; we were warmly welcomed, and the atmosphere was incredibly inviting. This place has a great vibe!

I absolutely loved this place. Honestly, I dont have a refined palate, but whatever vegetarian spicy dish they brought me we great. The two people running the place were as nice as could be. I absolutely loved the vibe, just a tiny thoughtful space. Ill definitely be back and I think itd make a great cute date spot. They do sell beer and wine, liquor is coming I am told.
