Google
Another successful birthday dinner with our party of 5. Each of us picked a roll we wanted and a few basic rolls. This would be this first time I'll say I had not one thing to say other then, all the roll were fantastic even the basic Philly. The sushi tasted absolutely amazing and could be a new favorite in this area. The restaurant is cute and comfortable, but you should definitely step in and take a bite, you won't regret it. For our party of 5 we spent 220 for 8 rolls 2 deserts, but we also had about 6 alcoholic drinks added to our bill. You'll also find parking just across the street along a side street for public parking.

Google
Tried many different sushi rolls from here and they have always been fresh and delicious.

Google
This place is a great place when you are craving some fresh sushi. The food 10/10 hands down, the service is immaculate the waitress that works here is amazing and super sweet, and the atmosphere in here is good vibes the decor is nice and they play some nice background music. Overall this place is a 10/10 hands down they have the freshest sashimi and sushi. They also have delicious fried cheesecake and Oreos that I also rate a 10/10. Overall this is the best place you could get the freshest sashimi and sushi in downtown Peabody.

Google
So sad the beef / chx teriyaki bento box option was removed from the menu ! The teriyaki plate which I was told is comparable was awful . Very dry beef , dry rice and maybe 3 -4 very small pieces of broccoli and carrots with no taste . This was one of our favorite places for date night :( even the Buffalo chx sushi and California roll just did not taste fresh .

Google
First time here getting take out. Amazing Incredible Hulk roll! But what a shame you shoved a gorgeous roll into a little square container! I will absolutely come back, but your sushi deserves some presentation love! Update- We keep coming back, and all the rolls are blowing me away! Sooo good, I’ve been here four times in eight days!

Google
My favorite place to eat sushi! The food is delicious, the staff are always nice to us, and I always have a nice time with my family there.

Google
Excellent specialty maki rolls with fusion inspiration. Check their specials, usually really really good. Melissa is an amazing server, very kind, soft, and not overbearing, great great service. Thank you!!

Deanne Healey

Google
Maki never disappoints! The presentation almost over shadows the taste! We had Gyoza, Beef Teriyaki Roll, Bubba Roll but my all time favorite is the Tropical Roll - covered in sweet chili sauce.

Yelp
Our family loves Maki Sushi Bar & Grill! We have been to this restaurant multiple times over the years, with my young children, and never had a bad experience. Everyone is always very friendly, kind and welcoming. The food is wonderful and very creative. Anyone would love to visit and try their great food.

Yelp
Delicious food!! Best Chinese on this route so far. Quick service and good prices for the amount and quality of food. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Alicia E.

Yelp
I can only say this based on a to-go order. I was excited that they had vegetable tempura. The selection of the vegetables was great and you could kind of customize it. However, it was a lot of batter and wasn't that great as the vegetables are concerned. And this is only based on that order but it could be better

Yelp
They are disgusting human beings I brought my 1 year old son in his car seat he was sleeping so I decided to sit down and eat he woke up when I was half way through my meal and they began yelling at me and my son who has special needs ( No children no children) my son got upset and started to get scared and they started to throw stuff at us Never coming back! they discriminate against people with special need don't support this place!

Yelp
I went to Maki Sushi Bar and Grill on 43 Main St, Peabody, MA. This north shore spot features a great selection of sushi rolls and cocktails. For drinks we had their pineapple passion and mai tai. Both will satisfy your sweet tastebuds on a night out with friends or family. For food we got the sushi pizza, the sunset roll, firecracker roll, hurricane roll, and crab rangoon roll. My personal favorites were the sunset roll which had avocado, salmon, lemon, and kanikama salad. Also, the crab rangoon roll which had tempura kanikama, cream cheese, masago, avocado, and cucumber with spicy mayo. All the sushi was so addicting and I could not stop eating! For dessert we had the molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries. To say we were stuffed at the end of the evening was an understatement. Check out this spot if you frequent the north shore and are looking for a date or relaxing night out (great vibes and not loud at all when we went on Tuesday!) Food: 7/10 Affordability 7/10 Ambiance: 7/10

Yelp
Great restaurant I love their food and great service! If you try any dessert try the fried cheesecake it's my favorite lol :)

Lauren O.

Yelp
Always amazing. Worth the wait every time. Love checking out the new specials. You should try the sushi pizza!

Yelp
Maki has the best Sushi and my all time favorite. I've been going with my family since it opened. Love the ambience of the new remodel and also enjoy getting take-out. They never disappoint with food and service.

Yelp
Happy Hour menu only down side is that its between 5pm-6pm. Service is kinda slow but the food makes up for it.

Eileen C.

Yelp
Service was quick and food was tasty. Highly recommend the plum wine!! Lots of options to choose from on their menu.

Jessica S.

Yelp
One of our most favorite places for sushi! Our tweens also love it. There's never been a bad meal, service has been wonderful, always!! Highly recommend!!!

Johnnie T.

Yelp
This was my first time at this restaurant. The server was very distracted. We had to repeat the orders which she still got wrong. She did not offer extra napkins or water to drink. This restaurant is not what anyone would expected from a Japanese Bar and grill. I will not return to this restaurant

Yelp
I think the photo says it all. So disappointed by this house salad. I know house salads from sushi spots aren't fancy, but this is crazy.

Yelp
NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. very disappointed with the staff & management. my family & i have been coming here for years. upon todays visit we showed up when it opened, 5pm for happy hour. we don't always have the ability to find a baby sitter so our 2 year old son who has a speech delay comes with us. he loves it here, he gets very excited. he can get loud at times but we were all under the impression that they were a family friendly restaurant as they have highchairs, they have a changing station in the bathroom, they have kids meals & i've seen kids (wilder than my son) in the restaurant on multiple occasions. towards the end of our meal today my son was getting ancy so after asking for the bill i took my son by his hand & we were walking out so my partner could clean up the table as we always try to do for the wait staff & pay the bill. the manager was waiting for me at the door & decided to tell me word for word that we are "not welcome to dine in anymore, please do takeout from now on" ... when i asked why, he told me my son was a problem in the restaurant. let me also stress the fact that today he was in a great mood & was only talking in an excited way , in the way that he knows how which is in yells. he wasn't running around, he wasn't doing anything at this restaurant besides sitting in his high chair. he specifically told me that ONLY my son who is 2 years old is not welcome here anymore. i felt so extremely uncomfortable as this is not something i've ever experienced & i am truthfully enraged by the fact that they specifically banned my child and my child only. absolutely disgusting and unprofessional behavior. the amount of money we've spent here throughout the years is truthfully regrettable after the treatment we've received today. after approaching me alone with my son, my boyfriend went back in to speak to the manager himself about the incident. the manager approached my boyfriend with a different demeanor & was open to then all of a sudden "working something out in the future". apparently there was a miserable couple who walked in & walked out because of my son. after years of spending money here, tipping the staff, being kind, literally being considered regulars by the staff themselves, and also constantly bringing others in to this restaurant to spend their money, how a random miserable couple feels about my child is not my problem. shame on you maki. we will never ever be eating here again & i will be sure to let everyone else know about todays incident.

Yelp
I have somehow lived in Peabody for over a decade and never went to Maki. I think the difficulty of parking downtown on the weekend evenings has dissuaded me in the past but Maki was well worth the trip. The sushi selection was huge and everything we ordered was very fresh. The service was a little slow but only because it was one server for 5-10 tables plus seemingly the bar area. The bill was ridiculous in that it was such a good value, for quality and quantity of sushi. I think my only complaint is that I didn't go with a larger party so we could have have ordered and tried more dishes.

Yelp
We went there last night for dinner. Waited to be seated for 10 minutes and no one even looked at us so we walked out and went to Sugar Cane where we were treated like family.

Daniel I.

Yelp
I love trying different food and once i saw Maki special combo had 3 options i had to go for it. All 3 were great, server was always on top of drinks and service. We made reservations so we didn't have to wait around 5:30 and i have to say i expected to be much busier with great food like that. The vibe was chill and music wasn't loud.

Brooke W.

Yelp
Just waited 1.5 hours for 5 sushi rolls on a Sunday evening. Apparently, a sushi chef did not show up for their shift. OH, and - togo orders are going out before the food for the guests IN the restaurant are. Great sushi, but this has been unacceptable service.

Seven E.

Yelp
we felt like they put on table whatever server like. We order 5 Entries, just serve 4 and one wrong order. May be just waiter don't care or tactic to make more profi.

Arleigh K.

Yelp
Small location but food was awesome. I'm always looking for sushi that is fresh and that won't break the bank. This is the place!

Matt M.

Yelp
This place is NOT for a true sushi lover. If you go out regularly for sushi, stay far away from this place. Could write a long and hilarious essay on this place but not worth the energy. Stay away. Enough said

Yelp
Omg best sushi I have had up here. I looked up reviews and drove over. No disappointments. I will be back soon.

Yelp
This place is very good, I highly recommend it for lovers of Japanese cuisine, clean place and great service

Yelp
Went here on a whim after being told if was pretty good by my roommate, upon entering inside it was well opened up, full view of the sushi bar in action, quite dark inside, ordered a white mai tai which was delicious, and started with the cream cheese dumplings, which were a melt-in-your-mouth kinda delicacy. Very thin wonton that almost dissolves Instantly. Also ordered a Philadelphia roll and a yellowtail/strawberry roll and the sushi was some of the best I've had in years. Extremely fresh. Will return eventually.

Yelp
Sushi is always good and staff are friendly! Only reason they did not get a five it is a bit pricey.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Update, Went and sat down at 9:30 and they sat us it is not 10:22 and they just told us they will not serve us any food. They waited almost an hour and REFUSED TO SERVE US. Unacceptable and furious. I have loved this restaurant for almost 4 years and this is how they treat there customers. After talking to management they did como our drinks and the manager promised to como our next meal but still over all a frustrating experience when brining a friend to try for the first time. I will give it still 3 starts for the manager recovery and it's still such good sushi.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Really good sushi, solid pricing. Creative rolls, fresh fish, great atmosphere. The famous edamame didn't blow me away. Everything else was great.

Yelp
Updating my review to say this is still my number one sushi place in the north shore. Since their expansion, the space is so cozy and ideal for a nice casual night out, or even a date night. Their rolls are still the most imaginative and tasty compared to other places around. The portion sizes are good, the staff is friendly and the flavors are out of this world. My favorite, the 114 roll is filling on its own; utilizing asparagus and mozzarella cheese!? Sounds weird but its soooo good, my absolute favorite. Now I could be bias as I have been frequenting Maki for years, but I recently took a co-worker here for dinner. She and I recently had sushi elsewhere for a staff outing and neither of us were impressed. So I brought her to Maki and she was so excited by the options and flavors! She ordered the Maki Sumo roll and the Peabody Roll. She ate the entire thing and told me she cant wait to bring her BF and try more. My only gripe is the drinks there aren't my favorite, its really rare when I get an alcoholic drink. If they added a hard cider I would be so happy. Highly highly recommend!

Yelp
I am a massive sushi lover, and somehow even knowing this is here never stopped in. Don't make my mistake, if you love sushi as I do, get your butt in here. Having had sushi everywhere from supermarkets to wicked expensive restaurants, I can tell you that elementarily, all sushi is the same: rice, fish, vegetable; maybe some kind of dairy (cream cheese, for instance). Everything else is secondary: sauces, tempura flakes, etc... it adds flavor, sure, but at the core, it's the same stuff. Why am I saying all this? Sushi at expensive restaurants has a lot of bells and whistles. It looks pretty, but burns a hole in your wallet. Take away the bells and whistles, and you get this place: amazing taste and quality at a reasonable price. The quality of the fish in any sushi is key, especially since it is raw. That said, the quality of the fish here is top-notch. Without exaggeration or hyperbole, this is the best quality fish I've seen, even better than that one expensive restaurant I keep mentioning. Not a bit of stale taste or unnecessary fat. I couldn't comment on the sushi here individually, since my family and I ordered the boat for four! The three is us eat sushi like vacuum cleaners! Which is why we were incredibly surprised we couldn't finish all of it. Everything in that boat was fresh, and put together with great care. There were some small bells and whistles which helped differentiate everything, and add even more taste. I particularly loved the one which had a bit of crunch, and was quite spicy! I'm sorry I don't know which one this is. I also love the sashimi! Because this is just a raw piece of fish, this is where the quality really shines. Rice was great too! My only critique is that the rice could have used one and a half more drops of rice vinegar, but this had a minuscule, if any impact on taste and quality. The boat also came with a bowl of Miso soup and a salad for each person. Miso soup was solid, I have no critiques about it, nor was it drop-dead amazing... then again, miso soup is quite simple. The salad itself was surprisingly good. The lettuce maintained the freshness trend, it not a single wilted leaf. What really made it great though was the sesame dressing they use. It was quite refreshing, and superbly complemented the lettuce. The service was fast (although to be fair, we arrived at opening), polite, and attentive. The location is small, but clean and cozy!

Yelp
I've gotten take out/eaten in around 6 times now. The food is priced fairly and is good enough to keep coming back for more. The tropical roll was sweet and refreshing, usually not my type of sushi but was good. Berk teriyaki roll was exactly how you'd expect, not something I'd order again. My favorite rolls are the volcano, diablo and 114 rolls. I thought the calamari was okay, it didn't really have much flavor but the spicy mayo it was served with was good. The molten chocolate cake wasn't as melted as I expected it to be. Seemed to have been microwaved based on how cooked through/hot it was. Overall, good experience with good service!

Lauri P.

Yelp
Sushi was not cut all the way through. Cucumber skin was tough and chewy. Sushi size was smaller than usual.
google avatar

Jingyi M.

Yelp
Best sashimi i had in Massachusetts. I had been to the expensive ones like fugakyu but their sashimi can't compete with this. Affordable price. Give it a try if you're a sashimi lover ! We decided we will drive one hour to this restaurant for sashimi in the future.

Beth W.

Yelp
I have been coming to Maki for a couple of years go and it is by far my favorite spot for Sushi. They have so many unique options you won't find anywhere else (the buffalo chicken roll is my favorite). That being said, the service is consistently pretty slow. There have been a couple of occasions where I have had to wait 1.5 hours for a pick up order. It's also really hard to get seated without a reservation sometimes, but the place never seems that busy so it confuses me.
google avatar

Cindy N.

Yelp
Came here on their second day of grand re-opening and there was a long wait. They were backed up in the kitchen and seemed understaffed back there as it took a long time to be seated and then also get our food. I was disappointed in their dinner service as it was their grand re-opening and that kind of wait time with so many empty tables just seemed like they were unprepared. However, the sushi was great! Their sushi portions are bit smaller than I'm used to and I was left wanting more despite sharing 3 special rolls and 1 hand roll. If you do catch them at a better time though where there is little to no wait, definitely try their sushi pizza! We had it with salmon instead and it was delicious! I would highly recommend it. I would also recommend their lobster roll! This is definitely a place you should try if you like different selections of special rolls.
google avatar

Teena N.

Yelp
Even after years of coming here, this place keeps it consistent with delicious sushi. My family's go to sushi is always sushi pizza, sunset and jalapeno maki. Although I moved, everytime I am in the area and craving sushi, I come here. If you order extra sauce, etc. Just make sure you check the bag before leaving. My sister loves the spicy mayo here and paid extra for a side of it, when we got home, it wasn't in the bag. She had to make to her own.
google avatar

Karen 2.

Yelp
the service was okay-- not very personable. the food was pretty good tho and was made pretty quickly. there was a bunch of background noise which the music sounded like it was trying to drain out. would maybe come again if in the area. 3.5 stars rounding up to 4.

Ev R.

Yelp
Tbh pretty bad experience overall. Had a reservation - when arrived, the hostess took ~5 minutes to greet us and didn't seat us for another 10 while they got our table ready with a fairly empty dining area. Food was mediocre, service was slower than molasses. Was there for a total of 2.5 hours because of this. Will not be visiting again.

Aliny B.

Yelp
Food is so delicious!!! Highly recommend!! However, they need to have more prepared attendants.
google avatar

Melena S.

Yelp
A personal favorite of mine! I try to venture out to try other sushi places but this place is just tooooo good. & it shows because they won best sushi in the North Shore in 2013 and 2018! Whenever I think of sushi, I think about coming here. It's hard to try new places when you know this place guarantees greatness. They have happy hour from 5-6pm Monday-Friday and I always try to make it to that because nigiri, some appetizers, and some rolls are only $3.50, a true steal! It's not too expensive, everything tastes fresh, and the desserts are delicious. Get the molten chocolate cake, you won't regret it! This will forever be one of my top restaurants.
google avatar

Haley W.

Yelp
Best sushi ever!!!!! The firecracker maki is my favorite I've ever had. This place deserves a 5/5, the wait is always a little long for takeout but it is worth it so plan ahead!!

Michael D.

Yelp
Food good, service awkward, ambiance.... What ambiance? The club music from the joint next door had my teeth chattering.
google avatar

Bobbi R.

Yelp
Great way to celebrate a birthday! Lava roll and firecracker roll were exceptional. Gin and tonic was very good. And Peabody roll fantastic! Darian was the best server! My teen boys thought he was super friendly and really efficient! We felt like valued patrons and we will be back.
google avatar

Amy G.

Yelp
I've been ordering from here since moving to Peabody. I've never had a bad experience. The food is always fresh and tastes amazing. My husband isn't much of a sushi guy so he gets the chicken teriyaki bento box and loves that. My top favorite sushi options: firecracker, jalapeño roll, spicy tuna, Bubba, blizzard. We get take out and it's always on time and my order has never been wrong. 10/10
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Ridiculous before it even started. The place is mostly empty - and there is now a lobby full of people and they are not bothering to seat anyone because the "kitchen is backed up" - there's no seats to wait so we are literally just standing around. This place was highly recommended on Facebook and Yelp but this is bullshit. After 20 minutes - we walked out. Beautiful restaurant- useless staff.

Jess F.

Yelp
I got takeout for 4 maki rolls. It took 75 minutes. Mind you this place has less than 20 tables and is never busy. The manager let me pay and didn't hand me food yet didn't acknowledge that I'd be waiting longer. When I asked, he replied under 5 minutes. It was way over that and again never acknowledged me, told me how long, or apologized... good sushi it's just ALWAYS without fail the slowest service known to man

Luis C.

Yelp
Have ordered from here for yesos.great sushi, lunch specials and great value and portion diez. Stong recommend for chicken katsu .Friendly service as well.

David C.

Yelp
I hardly ever write a review, but I have been here numerous times and enjoy the sushi. The sushi is still good, but the delay in getting drinks and and our food was unacceptable! It seems they must be prioritizing the take out business over the dine in people. If this is the case, they should close the doors and just do take out. I won't be back...
google avatar

John O.

Yelp
Kind of felt bad stopping in right before closing time, but I just wanted something to eat after getting out of work. That late at night your options are limited in Peabody Square (or anywhere in Massachusetts since nothing is open late). The girl at the bar was very sweet and very pleasant. I liked the restaurant, it looks very nice, intimate small space. Opted for the Alaska Roll and Eel Nigiri. It was absolutely delightful to end the night at home with a glass of wine. I'd love to try more menu items.
