MAKIYAKI GINZA ONODERA

"French cuisine enjoyed at the counter, overlooking the kitchen with the fire crackling in the hearth. The smoky aroma of the wood fire pervades the air, whetting appetites. Fish and vegetables are simply and fragrantly roasted; meat is cooked slowly over the flame to capture every drop of flavour. After the main course, noodle or rice dishes are served, enhancing satisfaction. Desserts baked over the wood flame make a striking impression." - Michelin Inspector

These dishes are divine 👍 You must try ! The salad not only looks appetizing but also tastes amazing! The soup was really flavorful, with a blend of mango and tomato and oliver oil. The roast duck and pork are fantastic! They're tender and soft, and just melt in your mouth. The roasted green tea and homemade cheese cake are perfect. I can't wait to visit again.

My wife and I had the Makiyaki Special Course for lunch. Service was very welcoming and attentive from the moment you enter the restaurant. The team spoke English and explained the concept and every dish being served. Food was prepared well and we had a good view of all the wood-fire grilling action from the counter seats. Taste-wise, there a few interesting flavors but all dishes were seasoned nicely. They gladly accommodated my allergies (can't eat seafood except for fish) and even checked before service started which ingredients I could eat. Ingredient of note today was clam, which I said I couldn't eat and which they said they would just remove from the dishes (it was present in 2). Unlike other restaurants who replace ingredients with suitable alternatives (like replacing clams with fish or even vegetables), here they just removed the item completely, which made the 2 dishes feel incomplete (1 was without any protein, while the 2nd didn't have any sauce). The clam dish (fish with clam sauce) became particularly problematic. They served it with the clam sauce, totally forgetting my allergy. They realized their mistake and were very apologetic, and hastily tried to make a new one for me without the sauce. Unfortunately, in their desire to quickly re-serve the dish, they forgot to debone it and I ended up with three (3) 2-inch bones on my small fillet. I left the bones on my plate, waiting to see what their reaction will be, but my plate was taken away after that course and nothing was ever said about the very visible fish bones.

Phenomenal meal by Chef Keiichi Terada and his team. Thank you for answering my many questions and catering to my allergy. The wine was paired perfectly with each course and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I am close to have no words how fantastic it was. These chefs have magical way of mixing ingredients that might sound unique. Even to well seasoned culinary person. Squid with mozzarella! Wow! Seasonal salad-best ever I had in my life. Worth of every yen. Thank you ☺️ We will return.

Absolutely, without a doubt, one of the best meals I've ever eaten with service to match. The wine pairing was superb. The chefs and front of house are masters of their craft. "Wonderful"! With love from the UK I highly recommend it if you find yourself wanting classic European fine dining with a Japanese twist.

I’ve shared my experience on ByFood where I reserved. Intimate setting with a wood fire oven at the centre of it all. Highly recommend this place. Head chef was kind to accede to my partner’s request as he could not take anything raw. Even gave a new portion of the salmon as the first serving was too raw. Ingredients were fresh cuts of the day/season, and the hojicha leaves freshly roasted was *chef’s kiss. Check this place out and remember to reserve!

Lunch was delicious and of good value. Many dishes have a fragrant wood-fire touch. Especially delicious were the wagyu bite, the hairtail fish (I would have preferred the sauce sour instead of sweet, but the fish was perfectly cooked), the clam ramen (deep yet delicate flavor) and the madeleine accompanied by tea roasted on the spot. Service was top-notched and the chefs were really friendly.

OCT 2024 Made a reservation for lunch and had the special lunch course. There were 11 dishes on the menu, most if not all are cooked using woodfire. From the counter you can see all the actions in the open kitchen. Everything was delicious; the salad was surprisingly tasty with each vegetable seasoned with a different flavor; the wagyu steak was tender and rich with the woodfire aroma infused; seafood paella can be enjoyed two ways if you can fit in a second serving; and the freshly roasted green tea using the woodfire paired with the baked creamy cheesecake was divine. Service was good and the chefs and staffs were friendly.
