Last night I found myself hungry and in front of a Thai restaurant with a bright open sign and nice welcoming garden entrance. The sign on the door said open till 10 pm and it was about 9 pm. When I walked in immediately they seemed to want me to make a "to go" order, however I was a little tired a kinda hungry and I just wanted to sit and eat some appetizers. I'm trying not to read into it, but I did feel like I wasn't really welcome and the waiter seemed to want to rush me along. I ordered some shrimp shumai and a few minutes later I added chicken satay, but he snatched the menu from me after that as if to say I'm done ordering. Honestly I had wanted to order one more appetizer, but him taking away my menu without even asking if I was done took the mood away. The booth in front of me had two ladies waiting for their dinners, so I don't understand the rush to get me out. About half way threw my first appetizer another couple came in for dinner and they were seated nearby without the "rush" I was subjected too. The shrimp shumai were ok, not the best I've had. Kind of mushy and the sauce provided had a taste that was off putting to me. The chicken satay was tasty and moist, served with a fairly thick peanut dipping sauce. After tax and tip, $40 for two small appetizers does seem excessive. I've eaten a lot of Thai food and the prices have been much lower, and the food much better. Maybe it was the hour, maybe it was me. I think I would have to pass on eating here again. Over priced appetizers and an unfriendly, unwelcoming staff is a big red flag for me.
