Where To Eat Outside In The West Village

"Malaparte is a block from the river, and it’s a great option for when you get tired of gazing out at New Jersey like it’s an island in the Mediterranean. Stop by some sub-$20 pasta or a pizza with mozzarella, arugula, and prosciutto." - matt tervooren, neha talreja

The Best Restaurants In The West Village

"Have you ever found yourself wandering through the West Village thinking: “Is there a place that’s charming and casual I can just pop into for some carbs and a nice salad without a two-hour wait?” That place exists, and it’s Malaparte. This dark little spot on Washington Street with exposed brick everywhere and wood floors that might be 100 (or more) years old is good for either a date night or a meal with a handful of friends. Order some rigatoni, a pizza with prosciutto, and the simple grilled whole branzino." - bryan kim, neha talreja, will hartman, sonal shah

The Best Italian Restaurants In The West Village - New York - The Infatuation

"It’s entirely possible that whoever built Malaparte used a checklist for cute, casual Italian spots. Just look at the brick walls, the stubby wine glasses, and the charmingly distressed wood furniture. Like the room, the food here is simple yet elegant, and it's better than what you'll find at the majority of casual Italian spots in the city. Get a pizza for the table, then have some spaghetti al carbonara or a plate of chewy pasta coated entirely in bright green pesto. Malaparte isn't doing anything especially new or mind-blowing, but, after one visit, you'll wish you lived closer." - Bryan Kim

Malaparte Review - West Village - New York - The Infatuation

"At one point or another, you might have harbored some dream about living in the West Village. Wouldn’t it be great? Waking up in a charming little townhouse apartment on a cobblestone street, waving hello to your celebrity neighbors’ children and occasionally ending up in the background of their paparazzi photos? You’d whimsically end up buying a small dog one fall Sunday afternoon from that shop called “Le Petit Puppy.” And of course, you’d be a regular at some under the radar, charming, low-key neighborhood restaurant. Except, here’s the thing: that studio apartment’s “bathroom” is a cracked bathtub located next to the refrigerator. Your neighbor isn’t actually the smiling offspring of the star of your favorite prestige TV drama, but actually an old man who watches those NY1 call-in shows with the door open all day. That pet store actually closed, probably because drunk people buying pets that come from puppy mills is a bad idea for everyone involved. And does that lively, dimly-lit, brick-walled restaurant on a pretty corner even exist? Actually, it does. While that apartment full of natural light on Jane Street will probably have to remain a figment of your imagination, the charming neighborhood restaurant you envisioned is actually real, and it’s called Malaparte. photo credit: Noah Devereaux Brick walls, wood floors, good pastas and salads, heavy pours of red wine, a generally pleasant crowd - they’re all there at Malaparte. The food isn’t revolutionary, but it doesn’t need to be, and that’s kind of the point. If you take a date here, they’ll be impressed, but not because the restaurant is fancy or “impressive.” They’ll be impressed because you happened to know about this cute little restaurant on Bethune and Washington. If you do go, know that you’re not the only person who found this diamond in the rough - so expect a wait at peak times. You can use the time to pick up some cash, because they’re a cash-only establishment. (Of course they are.) If you’re planning to be a group of four or more, they do take reservations, but only over the phone. (Again, of course. What do you think this is, Chelsea or Flatiron?) By the way, the bathtub in your imaginary apartment is leaking. Into the old man’s apartment. Food Rundown Di Rucola E Agrumi You’ll be happy with any of the salads to start here, but if you can’t make a decision, we suggest the arugula with grapefruit and mint. photo credit: Noah Devereaux Spaghetti Al Pesto Genovese The pasta is really good here - chewy and hot, just like in Italy. Except near the Hudson River. When in doubt, go for the very fresh pesto. photo credit: Noah Devereaux Spaghetti Al Carbonara Same great spaghetti, in a sauce that will make you feel slightly worse about yourself afterwards. Order with confidence. photo credit: Noah Devereaux Pizza Di Rucola E Prosciutto Di Parma The pizzas here are essentially round flatbreads, and we like this one with arugula and prosciutto. Order one for the table. photo credit: Noah Devereaux Branzino Spinata Alla Griglia That’s a fancy way of saying a grilled piece of whole fish. Those eyes are staring at you are saying, “Good choice of restaurant.” Galetto Al Forno That’s a fancy way of saying Cornish hen, which is a fancy way of saying chicken. Another strong order." - Hillary Reinsberg

This was the best experience and food I’ve had in a long time! We had 8 of us and did family style and every meal that came out was absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend trying this place!

Google
Hidden treasure! Such an adorable Italian find in NYC. If you're looking to dine like a local and enjoy a laid-back evening, this is the place for you. I absolutely loved the pizza, calamari, and mushroom pasta! 😊🍕🦑🍝

Google
Cute lunch spot. Food is decent but nothing amazing. I'd recommend booking for busier days as it gets pretty packed. Their carbonara was ok, protein was a little overdone so wasn't a good crispy texture. Their lasanga was good but nothing special. Pear salad was tasty but a little too oily. Their lemonade is very sour if you like that over the more sugary ones. Service was good but nothing special as well.

Malaparte — A West Village Classic! Malaparte delivers a truly memorable dining experience. The ambiance is effortlessly cozy & romantic, perfect for a casual evening or special night out. We started with the calamari — light, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the tuna avocado salad, which was bright, balanced, and beautifully refreshing. The burrata struck a perfect mix between being both creamy and indulgent, setting the tone for an incredible meal. The cacio e pepe was everything you want from this Roman classic: rich, peppery, and silky smooth (I’m drooling just thinking about it). We also tried a seasonal pasta special that’s no longer on the menu, but was truly exceptional and showcased the kitchen’s finesse. Great wine list, friendly and attentive service, and a vibe that makes you want to linger (the whole service team gives off super familial vibes). Can’t wait to go back!!

Google
Walked in on a Friday night with a half hour wait—not bad! The pasta and pizza dishes were good. Calamari was nice too. The steak, which we requested medium rare, came out super well done. But they were happy to correct this and we left satisfied.

Google
Amazing restaurant in NYC! Food, drinks and atmosphere were top! Thank you to our waiter Ramiro, for being so incredible with me (wasn’t feeling well due to pregnancy) and he truly made me feel comfortable and cared for. A true gem!

Google
We came here for dinner. The staff is friendly. We came with a baby and even though it’s a tight fit we were able to store our stroller under the table (included baby in resy). The food was really amazing and even though it’s a smaller menu we had trouble deciding. We ended up getting the pesto pasta, carbonara, and veg pizza. Everything was really good and we enjoyed. The restaurant is cute and quaint!

Google
This place is mid at best. First of all, neglectful staff. Hostess doesn’t care about the comfort of her patrons. Half of my meal I was blinded by sunlight. The restaurant was completely empty and they didn’t offer to move us. Instead they asked me to move my chair so as not to block a path that no server was traveling down. I had to ask for pepper and Parmesan. Neither were fresh and the carbonara was not tasty. The salad was also too salty. It’s unfortunate to pay over 25 dollars for a pasta that doesn’t taste good. The lemonade was decent but I would hope so at $7 a glass.

Yelp
Coming to dine at Malaparte was truly meant to be, considering that Halibut was one of the featured food specials. It was phenomenal and perfectly complimented by delicious asparagus and roasted carrots. Our dining party also enjoyed delicious grilled salmon and pastas. The bread was fresh and the wines were affordable. Topped off by a super yummy dessert (Tiramisu), our overall food experience was great. We dined inside and the ambience was cozy and comfortable. The restaurant also has lots of outside seating. The service started off simply perfect: attentive and friendly. As the evening moved on, the restaurant became busier and busier; as a result, the service became much slower and less attentive. While understandable, I still believe there is room for improvement there. Overall, this is a fantastic Italian restaurant!

Yelp
A solid neighborhood Italian spot! Highly recommend the mussels, the lasagna and the prosciutto pizza. The sausage broccoli rabe pizza is a bit too heavy on broccoli and we were disappointed by the tiramisu despite the other reviews, it tasted very bland to us!

Yelp
Great Food and Vibe! BYOB but $30 corkage per bottle which can add up quickly but overall great experience!

Yelp
Maybe they were having an off night. These things happen. But, this was not a good overall experience. Let's start from the top. The hostess did accommodate my request to move outside and it was much appreciated as the weather was lovely. I got seated right away. Nice. The street corner this place is on is lovely outside as well. Kind of crazy and chaotic inside when things get busy. Otherwise, the hostess was generally curt and not the sort of person you want to put front of house. She made it seem like she was annoyed to do her job or when I asked for a fork. Also, when interfacing with an iPad, it's key to not use that as a wall to the person as best you can. Again, maybe she was having an off night. Second, the waiter was having some sort of emergency and was on his mobile right in front of me for 10 minutes while I waited for service. Now, emergencies happen. NOT his fault. But to the manager of this place, you pinch hit and put another athlete on the field. You don't wait until I walk into the restaurant to ask for service. Now, my friend (who is notoriously late) hadn't arrived so they may have thought I was waiting but the key thing to do is to ask. Prosciutto and melon appetizer. Good. Solid 3. Love the sea salt on the salad. Pino Nero was delicious. Had 2 glasses. Pappardelle with Pork Ragu. Ouch. No good. The sauce was terrible. Watery and without richness of any kind. Take that off the menu immediately. It's an embarrassment to Italian roots. As someone who was in Italy 4 months ago, this would have been laughably unacceptable there. For dessert, we had the chocolate mousse and flourless chocolate cake. Both good but completely uninspired for an Italian restaurant. And back to the service. Once our waiter was back in the game, he never asked how we were doing and it always felt like we needed to flag him down. Weird. All in all, this is a pass.

Yelp
Malaparte has a strong reputation in the area so figured to give it a go. The place is small and tables are tight but that is nyc. We started with the beet salad and tuna salad app. Both were delicious. The rigatoni pesto and paparedelle bolognese were lovely. Could have been a little more al dente but all good. The pork chop special was a play on milanese style but the pork chop bad a parmesan topping. It was good as well. There were only two desserts that didn't jump out to us so didn't go for it. Wine selection was good too. I would recommend and come back. 4 stars.

Yelp
Amazing. Large portion, crispy but not overcooked. Filled with some of the best ricotta I've had. Would Continue to get this dish since it was so good.

Yelp
Walked in on a random Thursday evening around 7pm and we were told the wait was about an hr. Make sure you get reservations in advance! At the moment they didn't even have seats at the bar, so of course we waited. The wait was definitely worth it. The food was absolutely amazing- the spaghetti was creamy and tasty. The lasagna's sauce was so delicious. We decided to end with the chocolate mousse which was creamy and easy to eat but I wish we also tried the tiramisu- will be coming back for this on a weekend!

Yelp
I just enjoyed Malaparte in West Village with a few friends. The restaurant itself is adorable & quaint. We went for dinner on Friday & while super busy, the staff were friendly, service was quick & they made great suggestions for wine. As you can see from my photos, it was the clean plate club! I really enjoyed every dish we tried & the family feel of this place. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I had an amazing experience at Malaparte this weekend! Located in the trendy West Village, the atmosphere at this cute Italian restaurant is super chic with nice ambiance. My friend and I each got a glass of red wine, and ordered a few dishes to share amongst each other. We had the seared tuna with was so fresh and lemon-y, and then we also had the mushroom pizza and the pesto pasta. Everything was such good quality, and the service was excellent. There are so many amazing restaurants in NYC to try, but I still definitely want to make an effort to come back here again in the future!

Yelp
Came with a friend for a nice catch up dinner during the week. We got seated in the outdoor heated tent, which was quieter and easier to have a conversation. Inside was quite loud and lively, and pretty packed. Definitely make a reservation. The food was good! The pasta was freshly and full of flavour. There was a bit of a mix up with payment at the end of the night. Our server got the cards mixed up with other tables that were seated under the outdoor tent and then at one point; they couldn't find one of our cards. It turns out the waiter had dropped it within the restaurant. Other than the payment issue, everything else was great.
google avatar

Oscar L.

Yelp
The prosciutto and burrata here was definitely underwhelming for the cost. The prosciutto was okay. The gnocchi was also not bad, but also nothing amazing. The pesto was good. For dessert, the tiramisu is a must try. Service was on point and seating inside was very nice. Make sure to make reservations ahead of time.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing time! So much fun, service was impeccable, food was delicious! What a gem this place is.
google avatar

Ariana L.

Yelp
What a great meal! This place is cozy, quaint and moody, perfect for a date. The menu is stacked with pasta, pizza and entrees. The pizzas are a perfect Neapolitan with that bubbly, crispy crust. But honestly the pastas are my go to here! This hits the spot when you want sexy and cozy italian in the west village a little farther away from the crowds.
google avatar

Dana L.

Yelp
Walked by this spot on a Tuesday evening and it was packed. They were able to accommodate a party of four without a reservation. The service was great. The food was even better! I got the pesto rigatoni and the branzino and they both hit the spot! They were not stingy with the pesto :) My friends tried the mushroom pasta which was also delicious. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
This Italian place is casual and my rating is 10/10. I enjoyed every dish I ordered (calamari salad, mussels appetizer, house made SPAGHETTI ai PORCINI, PAPPARDELLE al RAGU DI MATALE) and also enjoyed wine by a glass. The staff were nice and were pretty attentive for how busy the restaurant was.
google avatar

Sadie D.

Yelp
This place is a MUST visit! I had the lasagna and it was life changing. I honestly didn't know ricotta could be so creamy and smooth. My husband had the Rigatoni al Pesto Trapanese and it was also creamy, flavorful, and filling. We ended the meal with tiramisu and the chocolate mousse. Both were rich and exactly what we needed to complete this perfect meal. Service was great, ambiance was exactly what I expected for a little Italian place in NYC. Definitely worth your time.

Katie S.

Yelp
Maybe because it was a super windy day so sitting outside (even though it was partially covered) was tough. Very long wait time even if you have a reservation. I can't lie food was mid. My friend had pasta and the portion was....super small even for being a somewhat boujee Italian restaurant. I got the lasagna which was decent.
google avatar

Sophie K.

Yelp
TLDR: Solid Italian food for a reasonable price. FOOD: I shared the Burrata with prosciutto and the calamari as appetizers. The Burrata was delicious, but can you really go wrong with burrata, arugula, and prosciutto? I think not! The calamari was different than normal calamari appetizers I normally have, which are often breaded and deep fried. This one was grilled and in larger pieces on top of a salad with capers. I'm honestly not a big fan of capers, but overall I thought the dish was pretty good. For our mains, we shared the spaghetti with Porchini mushrooms, which was a major yum, and the pizza with broccoli rabe and sausage. I was pretty impressed by both of the main dishes, would recommend both! The pizza had a really good texture of the bread. And the mushroom porcinis had strong umami. Those also came with a whole cup of Parmesan on the side -- I genuinely loved that I could serve myself (no lie there have def been times I've wanted people to keep going on that Parmesan but then it gets awkward with how much cheese I'm adding and how long they are standing there grading cheese...) SERVICE: Great! No complaints -- they didn't rush us out which I appreciated. I feel like this is a sign of solid, next level service. AMBIANCE: We sat outdoors in their outdoor heated space. I was a tad worried, considering it is early March and it was only a high in the 40s that day, but the heater in there made it quite toasty. Cute little outdoor structure -- did not need to wear my down jacket as I ate. RESERVATIONS: Recommended. I got one for 5:30 pm on a Friday when I booked the night before. More normal times were taken, but my companion had a train to catch at 8pm anyway so it worked great. OVERALL: Great! Will be back.
google avatar

Ally S.

Yelp
Great spot and we were able to snag a reservation without a crazy amount of time in advance. The beet salad was very fresh and I liked that it is not just a traditional salad. Pizza was good, but the showstopper for me was the mushroom pasta. Fabulous sauce that reminded me of Marsala sauce and a huge portion. Would definitely recommend!

William B.

Yelp
Among the city's many Italian spots, this is my pick for a no frills yet five star experience - great food, a cozy atmosphere, and a charming neighborhood location. Haven't ordered anything that I didn't like.
google avatar

Nikki M.

Yelp
So good is a 4 for sure. Service would be a 2 - hence the 3. I have lived in the neighborhood for 30 years and loved this place but recently the service has been terrible! Waiting for ages to order, not getting the right stuff - a total bummer. Honestly I would still recommend them for sure but be prepared to wait and be slightly annoyed. Food is always delicious !

Yelp
A truly wonderful and lovely wine bar to have an evening at for dinner, drinks, and good times. I really loved this place, a very cozy and quaint restaurant with an intimate dining atmosphere, dark but sexy and comfortable. Had a holiday party to go to here at 7:30 but since I'm always early I got there at 7 and went to the bar to have a glass of wine. The bartender was very nice and personable, and everyone is authentic Italian, very culturally in sync with the vibe and very friendly with customers. Had 2 glasses of wine, a Chianti and a Pinot Noir, both very good. Then had a bowl of Lentil Soup, special of the day, warm, delicious and flavorful. Party shows up and I move to the table. We have lots of apps and laughs. The Pizza was alright, not too special, but the Burrata was very good. I had the Papardelle with Beef Ragu (Sub Pork) and it was also very well done. Highly recommend, wonderful evening, fantastic place.
google avatar

Caroline K.

Yelp
Ambiance is so good! Prices are really reasonable and the service is great. I got the rigatoni al pesto and the serving size was perfect before going out in the village.
google avatar

Christina G.

Yelp
What a cute Italian restaurant!! They have a great wine selection, delicious food and the staff were so sweet! Everyone speak Italian and it just made the experience feel so authentic. I would definitely coke here for an intimate dinner with excellent food, great wine, and amazing service!
google avatar

Victoria G.

Yelp
Food 8/10 Most of the dishes we ordered were really delicious, but the beef lasagna wasn't the most memorable. I really enjoyed the burrata and mushroom pasta, as that was homemade and was the perfect al dente. The desserts were decent, but not mindblowing either. The complimentary bread was quite good, a little too oily though. Service 10/10 Good service, nothing to complain about. Atmosphere 7/10 It was a lot louder than I expected on a Tuesday evening around 8pm. The space was a little tight so I felt a bit cramped, but the vibes were definitely there. Better for a meal with friends, not too intimate because you can't really hear what other people are saying over the general baseline noise.
google avatar

Celina S.

Yelp
The appetizers (calamari, mussels) were nothing to write home about. Pizza - there's definitely better out there. Pasta was tasty though! The umami of the porcini was great and the carbonara was rich and generous with the guanciale. We also ordered the branzino and chicken. Branzino was good but chicken was so dry it went untouched. The tiramisu was also dry. Wasn't a "bad" meal but some of the dishes were clear misses and I wouldn't repeat.
google avatar

Xin W.

Yelp
Overall a decent Italian spot. Came for a date night, and had the beets salad (refreshing, a bit salty), mushroom pizza (thin crust, delicious), two pastas (cooked perfectly but very salty), and the pork loin (thinly pound, cooked well, served with a salad, pretty good). Not sure I would go back again but it was worth a try!

Bridget M.

Yelp
I got the scallop linguine, one of the daily specials. Portion sizes are perfect if you are hungry and the pricing was good. Our group also enjoyed the bread. Good atmosphere on a Sunday night

Amber Rose B.

Yelp
Out of all the multitude of restaurants, I have experienced in the village. This is by far the worst! The experience was awful. The hostess was nasty upon arrival and when we asked if there was room at the bar she said she would ask a manager, when he came over, he yelled in our face and told us we had already been told once there were no seating. we had been in the restaurant for 30 seconds. We are completely taken back and we're actually confused based on the interaction we had considering we had been there for less than a minute and were essentially scolded for trying to dine here.. What a garbage establishment they are running.

Yelp
Ordered: Sauté di Cozze Appetizer (~$15): mussels sautéed with chopped tomatoes & spicy marinara Rigatoni al Pesto (~$19): house-made rigatoni with pesto of the day Lasagna Bolognese (~$23): house-made, classic beef ragu lasagna Pizza Funghi Misti (~$19): assorted mushrooms, mozzarella, and fresh thyme Aya's take: We were in the area and although not our first choice for dinner, I'm so glad we stumbled on Malaparte (I guess I had this place saved for a reason)! We arrived right at opening with no reservation, but thankfully they were able to seat us. Service was fast and the ambiance was dim and intimate - in true West Village fashion! I usually prefer mussels in a white wine and lemon sauce but the Sauté di Cozze was surprisingly great. Fresh mussels with balanced acidity from the tomatoes and marinara. Both pasta dishes were amazing! The Lasagna Bolognese was my preferred one; it was dense, soothing, and honestly felt like an Italian grandmother made it. The Pizza Funghi Misti was highly addictive! There is probably a good pound of mushrooms on this and the cheese was super fresh and mild. It was an outstanding pie. Of note, they do not have a bar (for cocktails) but have a decent selection of beers and wines. If you're looking for an intimate yet delicious dinner spot, I highly suggest Malaparte!
google avatar

Soumya K.

Yelp
Malalaparte was good -- the service was quick, the pasta was good, and the branzino was solid. it was a great spot to catch up with friends but it wasn't anything outstanding or something you NEED to go to. Pretty solid for west village italian but you can probably find much better!

Yelp
Came here on a date, and we had reservations that we confirmed over the phone for 9:00 pm on a Saturday night. The reservations were for indoors (the outdoor set up needs work and it was under 30 degrees outside). We arrive at the restaurant and I was struck by the overall energy and ambiance of the place. Brick walls, dark interior, candle lit tables. Very cute, cozy, rustic. I was excited to be seated and experience what all the hype was about, but it took 20 mins for us to be greeted by a host. Then, they sat us outside -- we were lucky to move back in when there were two seats available at the bar. The waitress behind the bar was extremely friendly, attentive and warm. The food, however, took about 30-45 mins to arrive...and unfortunately, it was far from the best Italian I've had in the city. Butternut squash soup - skip this. Bland, tastes like blended and unseasoned cauliflower. Arugula and grapefruit salad with hazelnuts - really enjoyed this one, minus the several grapefruit seeds that were left behind in the mix. Pesto rigatoni - not bad. Cooked Al dente, pesto tasted fresh, but missing something. Gnocchi - served cold. Underwhelming. Tiramisu - also underwhelming -- lacked the espresso kick. Drinks - only beer and wine, but great selections.

Aayushi C.

Yelp
Food was ok. Pasta was kind of bland and chewy. Service was also ok not great. There is better out there. Expected more.

Yelp
Cute Italian restaurant nestled in WV, definitely glad I came to dine here for dinner! I got the spinach and ricotta ravioli and thought it was cooked perfectly and tasted super fresh and authentic. More authentic Italian than some other Italian restaurants I've been to! Also, definitely recommend the tiramisu - that was simply DELICIOUS! Only not giving a full 5/5 star because we were dining outside and a mouse ran right past us in the outdoor structure where the flowers were right by our arms/table, and we consistently had to flag down our waitress.

Kristie ..

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night at 10:40 and they wouldn't seat us and were rude about it, despite having a sign outside that says "kitchen open until 11" and their hours online say open until 11. Giving two stars because it's reasonably priced decent food in the west village, but won't be going back.
google avatar

Shradha A.

Yelp
Really warm and pleasant welcome. Unfortunately, limited vegetarian and no gluten-free options besides salads. The salads were good though! One odd thing - the server kept trying to take our dishes away, more than once, while we were still enjoying our lunch family style.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
servers were so lovely and attentive! sitting outside and dining on the street was peak. ranked: carbonara: so good! this is a must order, i'm also just a diehard carbonara fan pesto: very flavorful but not heavy, the pesto was so good calamari: was a little tough, not my taste but my sister really enjoyed it

Yelp
Great food!! Great Italian place with excellent food!! Small restaurant with a local vibe

Yelp
Food was amazing!! Got zucchini and polenta appetizers and they were delicious and tasted so satisfying yet light and refreshing. Had gnocchi for my entree and it was the perfect portion and was delicious! Very friendly staff. Host and servers were really nice and attentive. Good location and cute interior. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
We made reservations day of on a Saturday for 5:30. We arrived early and were able to sit in the heated outdoor dining area while we waited until 5pm (they were able to accommodate the last minute change, which was great, but they don't start serving until 5). I ordered the pear Gorgonzola special salad and it was fresh, big but not too big for an appetizer, and well dressed. My friend ordered the polenta. The food came pretty quickly - we hadn't even finished the delicious bread (focaccia and one other). We had papardelle ragu and pesto rigatoni for mains and ordered their day's special Cabernet (bottle, $75 - good, but a bit disappointing). The papardelle dish was very good but the ragu wasn't my favorite approach - a bit acidic. All in all it came to about $80 each before tip. They accidentally brought us someone else's check and credit card (oops) before bringing our bill. All in all, a fine evening, just not a standout given the price point. Or maybe I was just cold...

Yelp
When I arrive to Malaparte it was packed inside. Had a reso but still have to wait about 15-20mins to be seated. We each got a pasta dish and a pizza to share. The pasta portions are pretty small so I feel like an app or another dish is necessary. I ordered the carbonara and it was absolutely delicious! I was really happy with my order. I tried everyone elses but still liked mine the best lol. I would definitely come back just for that pasta if I'm in the area and craving it. The pizza wasn't all that in my opinion.

Yelp
I went here with a friend and it's such a cute dinner spot! The place had a nice ambiance and the food was great too. They give free bread to start with a bunch of olive oil, which was perfect to go with our burrata (which was on the specials menu). The spaghetti ai porcini was absolutely delicious! It had a nice touch of truffle flavor and the sauce was just the right consistency. Not so creamy that it was too heavy but had just the right mouth feel. I highly recommend trying it if you're a mushroom and truffle lover. Overall, great experience and will definitely be back to try other dishes and also want to try their sister restaurant!

Yelp
Oh.my.goodness. Rigatoni with pesto sauce was the best I've ever had. Homemade pasta perfectly dressed with a Parmesan heavy pesto sauce. Woof. I feel ten pounds heavier but 10 pounds happier too. The burrata was also very good, as was the fennel salad. Wine was noteworthy - dry white wasn't too sweet, reds available were enjoyed. New favorite Italian restaurant in nyc.

Yelp
Everything we had was amazing here. They rminded me of food in Europe that it's more about it's freshness and its own flavor. The seasoning are very light and simple, just purely the ingredients. The Polenta Gorgonzola was delicious and I've actually never had it made like this. Loved it and kinda like the turnip cake of western version. The Calamari Salad was wow. Very generous portion and so fresh and tasty! They are at the corner and all the windows basically can open up, the indoor space feel like an outdoor space. Definitely would come back!

Yelp
Incredibly delicious food, sincere staff, and while you can make a reservations walk ups welcome. I came on a Saturday night at 7pm and was seated immediately. All of their appetizers looked, smelled, and sounded amazing, but I had the seared tuna with avocado salad. It was a solid 10/10. The sesame dressing avocado, and tuna with lemon combination was perfection. For mains I got the almond pesto rigatoni and the mushroom spaghetti. Both were amazing. If you're looking for something "fresher" tasting, go with the pesto. If you're looking for something meaty, but also light, then the mushroom spaghetti is perfect. Everything on the menu is great. Everyone around me ordered different things, and everyone happily cleared their plates.

Yelp
I was excited to get some NY Italian food! It was pretty good -- we shared the spaghetti ai porcini, gnocchi, rigatoni, and grilled squid. All very good, and of course it helped that the wine was flowing!

Yelp
A delightful little Italian restaurant, serving up the classics and doing it well. The menu has a bit of everything: pizza, pasta, salads, meats, desserts. Everything tastes fresh and is expertly cooked. The calamari appetizer is grilled to perfection (not deep fried), comes on a bed of fresh salad which complements the squid very well. The carbonara pasta also superb, not drowned in sauce like so many other places. Tiramisu was flavorful and not too sweet. The food is not cheap but the prices are reasonable for the West Village area. Would absolutely come back again!

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night after little island at 7pm and it was very busy. Initially, they didn't know how long the way was since there was a lot of reservations, but got lucky since someone canceled after 5 minutes. We ordered the lasagna, carbonara, salsiccia and broccolletti pizza and some wine. We also ordered the burrata, but it never came. The food took a while, but the place was packed! I get it. When we got our food, it come out hot! The lasagna was piping hot and boiled on the sides. When it finally cooled down, it was so good. The carbonara was also delicious. The pizza on the other hand was okay. It was kinda oily and was mostly broccoli rabe. Overall, would come back for the pasta!
