This was a memorable stay. From our first emails on reservations to saying good-bye, what a great experience. The suites are 2 floors with a mezzanine with a large futon-style couch. Large sliding glass doors (floor to ceiling) with a large balcony and rolling metal shutter blinds for darkness. King size beds are very comfortable. The shower area was immense, and some rooms have bathtubs. Room amenities are high-end. Breakfast is extensive, lots of choices from typical ham/cheese/bread, to figs and cheese, home-made jams, and lots of daily changing selections – a very different breakfast that is yummy. Service is like you are family – our thanks to Alexis (a bundle of energy and expert in recommendations for touring, food, you name it), Sebastien and Michael. Michael is the winemaker, and we had a great conversation on the terroir. This is a winery and tours are offered at 10:00 on Saturdays and by appointment. There is a little book for the honor bar (wines, water, brandy) where you note what you take, and it is on your bill at check-out. To the wines, wow, what a selection from single vineyard Rieslings and Gruner Veltliner to local town names wines and they are great. The breakfast, sitting room is beautiful with views from the vines to Stift Gottweig, and vinyl record player and assorted selections. One of the places that makes you realize how great travel can be.
