The 19 Best Restaurants In San Juan, Puerto Rico 2024

"In Old San Juan, you should get your breakfast sandwiches at Spiga and your lunch sandwiches at Malavita, a new-ish Italian provisions spot from the team behind El Vino Crudo. The classic sandwiches are huge and come bursting with fillings like prosciutto and fresh mozzarella, but keep an eye out for the specials, like the recent chicken piccata hero. Grab-and-go or hang around inside—there’s a small bar area where you can pull up a stool, drink an espresso or a spritz, and snack on things like sfincione or caponata while you wait for your giant chicken parm hero smothered in vodka sauce." - adriana silva, tiffany yannetta

What a fantastic find this place was for me. The food is just excellent. The sandwiches are carefully prepared and the ingredients are great. The place is small and casual. Perfect for a quick stop for lunch or a snack while walking the Old San Juan. You should stop by. You won't be disappointed!!

Ahhh. Que buenos subs! Producto fresco y delicioso. Gente buena. Good fresh food delicious subs. No too much space. More of a take out (carry out). Interesting setup. Again, fresh and high quality!

Simply the best Italian deli sandwiches in Puerto Rico. Fresh bread and ingredients make all the difference here. They have a small market for Italian pastas, sauces, oils, and drinks. Nowhere else that I’ve found on the island in almost 20 years comes even close. I’d post a photo of my sandwich, but I devoured it already.

Small, cozy shop. Delicious sandwiches and meat/cheese platter. Everything fresh. We had a nice family lunch here. 🥰

One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Got the spec to split and wished I got one just for me. Pictures is the Rockaway. Our group also go the prosciutto and Metropolitan - all we’re delicious. Fresh crunchy bread. Meats and cheeses were exceptionally tasty.

Im super excited about this place opening because it’s something San Juan desperately needs. Best sandwiches on the island and it’s not even close. I also love their other place, El Vino Crudo. 1000/10 open more restaurants

I had the Linda sandwich with ricotta, fried eggplant, and basil on delicious bread for $14. I lived in Italy for three years and was impressed by the selection of Italian ingredients available to purchase inside and the sandwich was really tasty! There is air-conditioning and a bathroom available.

Yelp
I live in VSJ. These sandwiches are amazing. Everything is great here. It is my go to stop for picnics at El Morro or quick break when walking the streets. They also have random Italian groceries for sale. I make pizza at home and get my sauce and peppers here. Can't miss place trust me. Side note all sandwiches are subway stops. True New Yorker. Quality food.

Yelp
A cool quiet spot for a fresh sandwich and espresso in Viejo San Juan. Nice staff and great service too.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my sandwiches here at Malavita, this felt like a genuine Italian hero shop you see in many cities worldwide. Ingredients were all fresh and the bread was excellent. They import a lot of their ingredients from Italy as well. Definitely recommend for a quick bite
