The 38 Best Restaurants in Sydney, Australia - Eater

"Your train ticket to Guildford Station comes with a bonus pitstop in Malaysia. Step across Railway Terrace and you’ll be transported to an Asian night market, thanks to Mamu Penang Coffee Stall and its clustered community of food stands. There’s the smoky pull of the char-grilled satay skewers, char kway teow with a wok-hot caramel edge, nasi ayam (Malaysian fried rice), bee hoon (noodle soup), and teh tarik (pulled tea). Roti, stretched and grilled to order, comes stuffed with onion and egg, or emerges sugar-laced and scrunchy from the hot plate." - Lee Tran Lam

On a Saturday night when our friend said let’s go Malaysia. So we found this place and apparently the Nasi lemak is very popular. They also have Chinese stir fry, Malay fried stuff, satay, chicken rice and satay. Is a good combination of malaysia local food and drinks. Environment 3/5 Given 3 is not because the environment is bad, just the nature of the location, very difficult to get parking but super convenient if you’re travelling here by train, just just opposite of the train station. I arrived at 7+ by the way. And as there’s lots of frying and open fire type of cooking, smoke is everywhere. Basically it is built like Malaysia hawker stalls, with different types of food stall you can buy from and take a seat that’s available in the middle and wait for your food to be ready. Teh ice (milk tea) 5/5 This is actually out of my expectation, they had the drinks pre-made already just like in Malaysia. But usually Malaysia you can order less sweet, they don’t do it here. I’m not a fan of sweet drinks but this Teh ice is made just right, not too sweet! (I ordered 2 glasses in the end, sshhhhhh 🤫) Nasi Lemak 2.5/5 This is a miss to be honest, having to wait for more than 20 minutes as he’s running out of rice and fried chicken. It turns out the rice undercooked, I thjnk he’s rushing for it as there’s very long waiting list. The sambal wasn’t up to my expectation as well, little bit too sweet and not spicy enough. Plus point is the friend chicken is good. Char kuey teow (Chinese style fried rice noodle) 4/5 With the wok smell, I think this is quite a nice dish. Quite close to what I had in Malaysia, just that there’s no cockles here and she replaced that with clam flesh, not even close for that. Roti kosong and roti planta 5/5 I’m amazed with both the roti, the curry is fantastic as well. If I would find a reason to come again, it is for the roti! Satay 5/5 The marination is quite spot on, but knowing here is Australia, the meat is a bit too chunky, compared to Malaysia, I would prefer to have smaller size of meat. Very generous with the gravy, remember to dip your satay in. The sweet and spicy gravy gives the meat a little bit more flavour. Will I come back again? 3/5 Not too sure due to the smoky place and the crowd. Nasi lemak is a disappointment, maybe I should come earlier next time to try out the first batch. What would I recommend? - Teh ice - Satay - Roti kosong - Roti planta

An authentic Malaysian hawker stall in Western Sydney! Conveniently located across from Guildford station, there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The crispy chicken from the Malaysian Chicken Rice and Gearbox (Slow Cooked Beef Bone Marrow with Noodle) are some standouts. The tea tarik isn't too sweet and the roti is made fresh. There are also a variety of fried noodles, fried rice, skewers and Assam Laksa. Overall good value and worth a visit. It's like you are transported back to Malaysia! 🇲🇾😋👍

Visited on a Friday night around 8 or so for the first time. Has about 7 stores to choose from with a range of options. Street stalls vibe for sure and great atmosphere. The wait was reasonable and we ordered Nasi Hujan Panas which was unique. The Teh Terik was super good - who would've tho it could taste so good straight out of an Esky!!! Finished off with a Roti telur which was pretty good as well!

This place is basically a collection of 5 to 6 stalls that serve malaysian food. The vibe here is similar to that of a Malaysian street food. The food overall was nice and slightly overpriced for some dishes. The taste was good for all the dishes that we tried, and roti canai was the best in my view, along with the fried chicken with rice dish ( I don't remember the name). The only reason to give 4 star was that there were too many flies, and they made the experience a bit unpleasant. They can take some action to control this. Chicken satay was for $2 per skewer. Roti canai for $5. fried chicken and rice dish for $14. They take cash and have PayID, which was also convenient but no eftpos. Do visit them but bear all these issues in mind while visiting.

Malaysian Street food in Sydney! This place has an amazing street food vibe. Literally feels like you are somewhere in Malaysia! It has around 5 stret food vendors. You walk around and see what you like. Solid options. Well priced. Its very close to Guildford Train Station. There are heaps of parking nearby but be prepared to drive around during busy time. Anyhow, overall a solid experience. Thank you.

Lovely place, fantastic value and good transport options with plenty of parking nearby and a train station. Food is amazing and if you don’t have cash you can pay via PayID. Great variety with all the different stalls, chicken satay, grilled fish, Nasi lemak, roti canai, char kway teow, fried bananas, the list is endless.

Yummmm! Definitely worth the drive here. Thoroughly enjoyed the satay, CKT, teh tarik, accompanied with the most familiar hawker vibe. Hope to be back again to try out the bbq seafood, mee goreng and more.

This is like being in Malaysia! I enjoyed the vibe, the food and the people. I was choking on spicy sambal from Nasi Lemak and one of the shop keepers brought a bottle of water for me even! I had nasi lemak (sambal is VERY soicy so go easy!), my fav Char Kway Teow (had seafood version), chicken satay (loved the peanut sauce and roti canai. ~$50 for all. Payment by cash or PayID (via bank app) only. I was there on a week night so there were plenty of tables. Open Wed -Sun evenings and weekend breakfast. Definitely check it out - food is good!
