Malbec Argentinean Cuisine

I believe the price is very high by an extra 20-30% or so compared to what was received and the name of the place. I expected authentic Argentine style cuisine. It is more of an American style of Argentine food, intended for the blandest of palets. While the meats were tender and juicy, it is balanced with tiny portions. Normally that is automatically balanced with a side of something, but here that is an extra cost, or if you get a premium side, much more. I should mention that everything from the bar was mixed very well. I would give the bar mixes a B+. I went on a busy Saturday dinner rush, so getting the waiter's attention did require a bit more effort. Additional loss of value when you need to use the bathrooms. Hold your breath and ignore the worst designed bathroom on earth. Final thoughts are hard to find parking. Skip this place unless you have an expensive client to impress with you paying a large bill.

This was by far one of the best places I've had a meal at in a few years in all honesty. Wow The meat dish were awesome and the suggestion by the waiter was phenomenal. Lamb was amazing as well. I will make it back to California again. Just to eat here one day.

The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was wonderful! However, I had higher expectations for the food, especially the paella. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the reviews, so I can only give it 3 stars for the food. The steak was pleasant, but it lacked something special. It’s a great place for a celebration, but it might not be the best choice for a memorable food experience.

Loved celebrating my husband’s birthday here! It was our first time dining at Malbec and they did not disappoint. Every dish was so flavorful and their cocktails were spot on as well. The staff were all very thoughtful in their recommendations and very attentive throughout our experience. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend to anyone who has not yet had the opportunity to dine in.

One of our favorite restaurants. Delicious food, and amazing service. Always a great experience, and our favorite spot to celebrate when family comes to town! We have had almost all the dishes, and they have all been amazing! Even when it is an ingredient or flavor I don’t typically enjoy. Amazing and quite a tell of a great chef. The steaks are a hit. The filet, bone in rib eye are our favorites. The salmon and jidori chicken are killer. And paella is amazing. Everything is well prepared and well balanced in flavor. We usually get a plate each and then a paella for two order for the table. The desserts are great! We get a ton for the table, and always enjoy. Even the strawberry sobert hits the spot, and is a nice lighter option if you’re full from the mains. Green Street is one way, so I reco trying to be aware of where you are in relation to the restaurant, and try to park west of the restaurant. We usually have no issue finding spots. Only trick is the high curbs, so be careful opening the doors closest to the curve. The team here is warm, attentive, and makes each visit special. You feel seen, and spoiled. Highly reco this spot to all! We do reco res if you’re going during prime dining hours and Friday-Sunday.

Great food, great service. Very unique tasting meat but delicious. The gnocchi bologna is recommended.

Small portion for side dish, appetizer and desserts. Very disappointed with chimichuri which had no flavors (all 3). Steaks were just ok. Drinks were so-so. I don't think I'd go back.

Nice place for steak and seafood! Octopus leg is crunchy outside and tender inside , recommended.

The server Yesenia was very sweet, attentive, and fast. The food was amazing and very well done. Definitely recommend the sirloin.

I love bringing friends and family here! We came to celebrate company, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. The restaurant is warm and inviting and the tables are not crowded. Our server was very helpful, and the Wagyu tomahawk fed 3 of us very well (the bone is about a pound). I also had pasta and they took the chilis out for me. The decaf cappuccino was PERFECT I'm not going to take stars off for it, but I'm 100% sure there used to be YUCCA fries and Maduros used to be on the menu. Theres no need for mashed potatoes, French fries and Yukon gold roasted potatoes to *all* be sides. Delete one or two and bring them back pleaaaaseee!

Came here on a Saturday night with 2 friends. Made a reservation online two days in advance, plenty of openings. First time trying based on a friends recommendation. When we arrived it was busy but got seated right away. Parking is hard to find. If you're lucky, you can find street parking, or if you go a couple blocks away, you can find some public lots. Ambiance: We were sat in the outside covered area. It was nice and cozy but the inside looked way nicer. Service: Excellent service. Our Waiter was attentive, friendly and answered all our questions. Food: I was disappointed with the food. It was fine, not bad, but nothing I would come back for. I had higher expectations based on reviews and price. It started with small pieces of slightly stale bread with chimichuri sauce (that was tasty). Burrata appetizer was good. I got the potato pasta and shared the filet. The pasta was ok, mediocore. The Filet was nothing special, cooked nicely but quality was like something I could get from the grocery store. My friend enjoyed the rib eye. crème brûlée for dessert was really good, highlight of the meal. Cocktails were good. Overall: I'm a foodie and appreciate a good authentic meal. Like I said, it's not bad, it was decent, but I wouldn't want to come here again or recommend it to a friend. If you're looking for a nice restaurant in this area, Nicks or Uovo I highly recommend.

This place is a carnivore's dream! We arrived with a serious appetite and left thoroughly satisfied. We came around 4:00 PM on a Saturday and were seated right away. At that time, it wasn't too busy or noisy, which made for a relaxed dining experience. The atmosphere is prettty low-lit and classy, creating a cozy, yet professional vibe. We kicked things off with the clams, bread and oil, and enjoyed iced tea to drink. For sides, we ordered a mix of veggies and creamy mashed potatoes. The main course was a feast, featuring a variety of meats and seafood that we selected ourselves which included steak, sausage, scallops, etc. Everything was cooked exactly to our liking: tender, flavorful, and clearly high quality. You can really taste the care that goes into the food. If you're coming with a large group, I'd recommend ordering several sides and a few shared plates for the table. It's the best way to sample everything and keep everyone happy and full. This place has my stamp of approval for sure.

Malbec is an Argentinian restaurant located in the heart of Pasadena offering traditional Argentinian / Spanish fare in a cozy setting. Our family came on New Year's Day in the early evening. We were greeted and chose a table in a quiet corner; the restaurant is austere, classic, simple, dimly lit, and cozy. After an initial offering of bread and seasoned olive oil we shared the Arroz Con Mariscos for Two ($79), essentially a large seafood paella. The paella was perfect, with excellent, flavorful rice and vegetables, and an appropriate amount of seafood, with a generous supply of calamari and octopus and a smaller, but appropriate, number of scallops, shrimp, and mussels. This was followed by the Costillitas de Cordero - 18oz of Lamb Chops ($58), which were excellent; 4 generous rib chop pieces, 3 cooked to a perfect medium rare (1 overcooked to a medium well) and seasoned perfectly. They were paired with an included Porcini sauce, a Madeira wine and mushroom mixture which I found unremarkable, and didn't add much to the savory chops. We completed with the Panqueques de Dulce de Leche ($16) a pair of crepes drenched in delicious chocolate and caramel for a rich, flawless flavor, which were paired with ice cream and fresh fruit. Service was friendly and appropriate. Value, as above, was a little lacking; while the food was great, in my opinion each item was priced about 10-20% higher than justified, especially for a restaurant off the main Pasadena beat. Nonetheless, Malbec is an authentic, respectable restaurant offering great food, perfect for a special occasion or date night. Food: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 3.5/5

I was pleasantly surprised that this place was open during Christmas (as many restaurants close on Christmas Day). I was able to make a reservation through OpenTable, which was very simple and user-friendly. Because I had the reservation, we were seated right away (so highly recommend making reservations ahead of time). The ambiance is very romantic and cozy, and they ornamented the place very well with lots of Christmas decorations. For starters, I ordered the Pulpo Al Aji Amarillo (grilled Mediterranean octopus), which was grilled to perfection! For the main, I ordered the Arroz Con Mariscos For One (seafood paella) and the Tabla Mixta. For the Tabla Mixta, you're able to choose two cuts (or more), so I opted for the Entraña (USDA skirt steak) and the Ojo De Bife (Argentinean Rib Eye). I absolutely enjoyed the Rib Eye with my sides of mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. To end the night, I ordered crepes that came with a Nutella spread, strawberries, bananas, and a side of vanilla ice cream. The service was immaculate and staff was attentive, and ensuring that each dish was served in a timely fashion. It is quite pricey, but I would definitely come back here again for the Argentinean Rib Eye!

My birthday celebration continues, this time I was treated to Malbec. Good choice! Been here several times when I worked in Pasadena and always had a great experience. Plentiful street parking available. The dining room is small, and there's also outside seating and another room for larger parties. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome and big smiles. Our server Roberto was super friendly and very knowledgeable. Suggested a bottle of malbec to get our palettes in motion. Marcelo Palleriti Malbec paired perfectly with our meal. Nice bold rich tasting red wine. Everyone enjoyed the complimentary bread with chimichurri sauce, so addictingly good. We shared a variety of empanadas (beef, spicy beef, chicken, spinach and cheese) for appetizers and they were all excellent. It arrived piping hot and crisp on the outside. Spinach and cheese were standout. The bone marrow with flat bread was amazing. It was rich and fatty, roasted to perfection. For entrée, we ordered the Arroz con Mariscos (seafood paella), rib eye steak (ojo de bife), New York steak and sorrentinos pasta. Arroz con Mariscos was solid and on point. Seafood tasted fresh and bursting with flavor, even octopus was tender. Good portion and perfect for sharing. Sorrentinos pasta was rich and satisfying. The steaks arrived beautifully charred and cooked to perfect medium. Both came with 3 types of chimichurri sauce, which really enhances the flavor of the steak. Dessert was fantastic. I got complimentary scoop of ice cream for my birthday which paired well with bread pudding and crème brulee topped with berries. So glad we picked this place again. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!

First time at this establishment, was here celebrating a birthday. Started off with a few appetizers, the first was PULPO AL AJI AMARILLO(octopus) the flavor was very good, but just a tad chewy, second was TABLA CHORIZOS ( Argentinean, Morcila and veal sweetbreads) the Chorizo's were great, the sweetbreads seemed overly cooked a little on the crispy side for my liking. For my entree I ordered TROFIE, RAGU & CARACU with a side of CREMA DE CHOCLO. The pasta with the braised short rib and bone marrow were spot on, very flavorful, the crema de choclo was very bland, no queso fresco flavor, it just reminded me of cream corn from a can. Our server was great, he was very attentive, well mannered and friendly. We were seated in a nice corner spot with a window view, very intimate spot. After the meal was complete, the server comped us a glass of champagne to celebrate my birthday.

Everything was absolutely fresh, very delicious. We ordered multiple dishes, everything we ordered was excellent. Customers service was okay, space and setting was great, plenty of tables inside and outside. Cocktails were not good, it's okay wee we're not there for that.

Tasty Argentinian spot with friendly service. Came here for lunch with my parents and had a reservation, which we made online in advance. Street parking available. We were greeted with complimentary bread with chimichurri sauce. We shared a meat platter including chorizo and short ribs - the meat came out sizzling hot and was tasty. It came with three different types of sauces. We ordered a salad to start as well as some fries and fried calamari (you need balance in life). The fries were really crispy as was the calamari. We ended with some crepes, which was probably overdoing it as we had leftovers, but the crepes with ice cream sounded like a sweet way to end the meal. Restrooms are located in the back right. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

This was my first time trying Argentinean steak, and I was really pleased! The steaks are 16oz and for the price it's really good value compared to other steakhouses I've been to. We got the ribeye and New York and asked for medium rare, and to our astonishment this might be the first time our steaks were actually cooked to the our specification. The ribeye was super tender, I enjoyed this a lot more than the New York which was tougher, but that was to be expected. I liked how the edges on both were slightly charred. I also got the ceviche with tuna and octopus, and this was probably my favorite dish of the night. The tuna was so fresh along with the other ingredients, and the octopus had a nice firm texture. Loved the chips! We got the crepes for dessert since our waiter said that was their best seller. To be honest, I enjoyed the vanilla ice cream a lot more, haha, but I still enjoyed the chewy texture of the crepes. Like the steaks, the crepes also had charred edges which gave it an extra crunch. Service was all around excellent. Will definitely be back to try more of their menu.

I hadn't been back to Malbec for maybe 10 years! So glad I spontaneously popped in on Friday. Just needed a quick bite before a showing next door. I was able to make a reservation for a slot within ten minutes. We were seated right away - ordered a salad and the short ribs. SO tasty. Just like I remember from before :) our waitress, Rosa, was amazing. She was fast, super helpful, great recommendations, and lovely personality. I can't remember the name of the salad we ordered, but it was delicious. Blue cheese, beets, arugula, pears, YUM! The portion was big, great for sharing. Can't wait to return.

When I first walked into the restaurant, there was one other party there. It was around 12:30 and it wasn't very busy. We sat down and ordered our meal. I ordered spicy beef empanadas, cheese and corn empanadas, skirt steak which came along with a salad, grilled pacific sole, and grilled skirt steak. My favorites were the corn and cheese empanadas and the sole. The sole was tender and flavorful. I thought the steak could have been more tender and maybe less salt on the spicy beef empanadas. The service was good. They were attentive and always filling our cup with water. The ambiance was nice and the interior beautifully decorated. Overall, I would only come back for the empanadas and the sole.

Last night, took friend here for birthday dinner. Wasn't too impressed 20 years ago but they have obviously upped their game since then. Ambience, food, service -- all were great, and the prices are right. Arugula and beets salad very fresh, octopus and skirt steak both have a nice char and intense smoky flavor (can't easily replicate that at home). The only reason it's not 5 stars was the overcooked "medium" steak, I guess next time I should order "medium rare". Very friendly and attentive service.

These clams were delicious! Oh I'm still dreaming about them. The food was great here. We came for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. The waiter was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Water was always filled. I wish I got to try the drinks here but we only had wine. There is lots of indoor seating as well as seating at the bar and outside. It's dimly light inside where we were seating giving it a very intimate feeling.

I love this restaurant. In all the times I've come to eat, I have never had a bad experience. And I always love what I ordered. This time I did the dine LA menu and it was phenomenal. Salad with shrimp, then fried sole with spinach and the apple crepe with ice cream. Not only was this meal so satisfying, the service was top notch as well. They catered to us like we were VIPs even if this was all we ate. This is one of the best restaurants in LA, and it's why we'll keep on coming back. You seriously cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything is fantastic.

Came here with some company and we had a great meal! We went all out! We got the burrata and prosciutto, the asada de tira and entrana a la parill, arroz con mariscos paella, and the Pulpo Al Aji Amarillo, as well as others that I forget! Food was solid! Service was great, and they had good ambiance. Great place to go to!

It had been a while that we had gone there. Why did we wait that long? Everything was very nice. We were a larger group but they arranged a nice table for us. The staff was very attentive. The food was very delicious, at least on my plate with a medium-rare steak which was wonderful and looked with awe at a steak on another plate that per that patron's request had been done more than well-done ... But they really fulfill any reasonable wish - even against better knowledge. I enjoyed every single dish. PREVIOUS REVIEW I did like this Malbec place a lot! For many reasons such as the waiter's friendliness, the food - but I guess the most charming aspect was the touch of Non-American relaxedness where sitting down for dinner does serve more than just filling the stomach. Where there is no push to devour by the clock and pull out the credit card before the last bite is down. But let's face it, the food was great: Spinach Empanada and Empanada Dinner, Mollejas Champagne, Entrana al Chimichurri, Brochette, Ojo de bife, and for the table to share some Mushrooms Provenzal, Creamed Spinach and Cebiche Trio ... Everything was to the point, nicely presented and definitely not shabby. And just to make that point: I have plenty of dishes to choose from, but even a vegetarian can find excellent noncarnivore choices.

Updating the review to include an appetizer you must try - grilled octopus! I've had octopus before but it never made me want to make octopus a go to item. Well, this dish changed my mind! The octopus was grilled to perfection and accompanied by roasted potatoes and an aioli sauce. All of the flavors complimented each other and I will definitely be reordering this item again. Also, for those of you who grew up with your mom making you flan out of a box, you must try the flan here. This isn't a diss but a compliment as it is nostalgic. IFYKYK. I did ask if they used the box mix and I was told it was made fresh daily but not from a box lolz. I had to know. This flan is perfect, it is not too heavy like some versions are. The bonus is it comes with some cajeta.

I ordered the filet mignon with the side order of corn... and it was incredible! The steak was cooked to perfection, and the corn was sweet/salty, delicious! The filet was bacon wrapped, which added a nice touch, but my bacon was a bit too salty for my preference. I do not remember our waitress's name, however she was very attentive and helped our party of 6 out throughout the night. I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for a romantic, luxury night out.

Food was good. Server was a bit arrogant. We were there for the first time and wanted to order lots of plates and told maybe we ordered enough?

My wife and I were staying in Pasadena recently and ate at Malbec Argentinean Cuisine three times over three weeks. We live in San Diego and Travel to Europe often, primarily for food and wine. This restaurant is now one of our favorites and worth coming up from San Diego to eat at. The food is spectacular, everything from the sides (in particular the mushrooms and spinach adds), empanadas, steaks, all amazing. I was especially impressed with the wine list, really well done. Finally our server Rosa, was fantastic, a genuinely friendly person that made each visit even better. Highly recommend.

Very unique, classy and elegant place for a date, celebration or just to eat the one of the best Entrana. Love this place highly recommended.

We celebrated New Years Eve here at Malbec and it was also our first time dining here after hearing so many great things about the food! We had a party of six for 9:15 pm which is a pretty late dinner, but I snagged a reservation earlier that day. When we arrived, there was a small crowd outside of the restaurant and we wait about 15 mins before getting seated. The inside ambience was very cozy, romantic, and classy. Maybe also since it was NYE, guests were dressed very nice. We ordered the Espresso Martini and two of the NYE special drinks - French 75 and a festive mojito. The Espresso Martini was one of the best we've had! Very good balanced drink with foam. I loved my French 75 too, which was perfectly light. Our favorite part of the meal were the apps. We got the mussels, calamari, octopus which were all delicious. The girls split the arroz con mariscos for two (which fed way more than two people), and was their version of paella. It was a wetter consistency that we actually liked. The boys all got steaks, but their steaks were either overdone or too raw, except for one which was perfect. I think this was because the evening was very busy so I'd give it a pass. The waiter took my bfs steak back to cook a bit more and re-plated it very nicely. For dessert, we got the crepes and they were delicious with the vanilla ice cream. All in all, we had a very good experience here! Would return and try other dishes.

I hadn't been to Malbec in years, so I was excited when our friend suggested it for dinner on a Friday night. We made a reservation for the four of us ahead of time, so getting a table was no problem. Our friends, who are from Argentina, mentioned that Malbec is their favorite restaurant--and it's easy to see why. We started with the beef empanadas, which were juicy, flavorful, and generously filled with ground beef. For my main dish, I ordered the skirt steak Entraña a la Parrilla cooked medium-well, paired with a side of grilled vegetables. My husband opted for the Ravioles Scarparo spinach ravioli. While I'm not typically a steak person, I figured you can't go wrong at Malbec--and I was right. The steak was incredibly tender and full of flavor. The ravioli was also a delightful surprise, just as tasty and well-prepared. Both dishes paired perfectly with the grilled veggies. The atmosphere is ideal for a date night or a small gathering, with its dim lighting and cozy vibe. Our server was friendly, attentive, and checked in on us multiple times throughout the meal. I hope it won't be too long before we visit Malbec again.

First and foremost the food was amazing! Skirt steak, ravioli, and the apps were great. Our waiter Edwin was also great and very attentive and kind. The vibes were so and so, we wanted to be seated in the main dining room but since we had babies with us the hostess put us in the side room where the ambiance isn't that great despite there being plenty room in the main room and previously requesting that room during reservation. Looked like they put all families with kids and the older crowds in the boring side room and the adults-only younger crowd in the main dining room. That said, if you're dining here, sit in the main dining room. The side room is not the vibe.

The food is great. I suggest getting the tomahawk steak the whitefish platter and seafood rice. The service is fantastic. Our waitress was on it. The ambience is good. Doesn't really match the food because it's kinda like a sports bar environment. I thought it would be a homely feel! But overall great restaurant.restaurant.

Total 180 from the last place we tried (Gaucho grill ). Amazing service from the second we walked in. Ambience was perfect. Special shoutout to our server (Rosa). She was warm, attentive, and just genuinely on it. Her recommendations were perfect. We had the skirt steak, arugula salad, and mushroom risotto, all paired with a bottle of Malbec. Everything hit. That risotto hit the spot. Definitely coming back to try the other steak options. This place gets it.

Love their all day happy hour. If you done with kids the kids steak is awesome! $5 beers, cocktails are a little pricey. You have to sit at the bar seating area for happy hour so confirm you are in the right area. Make sure you flag your server when you want to order.

Consistency is key, and Malbec does not have it. Service-wise, the first time I went there, they were trying to be attentive but fell somewhat short. Second time around, we got outside seating, and this is where services were minimal, very infrequent check-in, think water glass empty for some time. The location, decoration, and ambiance is nice. But that is about it. Food, the first time it was good and worth the price. This time around, the price went up, and the food was not good. This is where the consistency comes in; it is not consistent, and this is terrible for a restaurant to have. We ordered the squid ink pasta, and the pasta was soft and mushy, not al dente. The sauce was ok. At least the seafood was fresh, so a point up here, I suppose. We also got the Arroz con Mariscos paella, and again, it was edible, rice was soaked in the broth, and it was again not al dente. I feel these two dishes really missed the mark. For the price, service, and quality, this is not necessarily a place that I would visit again anytime soon.

I was able to put a reservation for 4 at 6pm on a Friday for a business meeting. The server did a wonderful job guiding the experience with wonderful suggestions and attentiveness. It's an elevated cafe ambiance that allows for an impressive meeting setting. It reminds me of a restaurant dining experience in Patagonia Argentina. I recommend the pulpo, waygu, empanadas, and seafood plate. Everything is delicious!

Quite good food. Good entree portion sizes but small appetizers. Very friendly waiter who accolades dietary restrictions and gave great recommendations. Cute place for a date night

I've never eaten Argentinean food before. Went to their Dine LA. Was able to get street parking. As a group, one wouldn't necessarily order four appetizers and four desserts. But it was a chance to try a lot on the menu. The best main was the pasta. The sweetbread had a soft texture, the clams had a dill flavor. It's fairly easy to get reservations. The ambiance was standard. The server was nice! Probably good for big groups!

We went for a very late birthday dinner celebration for my sister. First off, very delicious, high quality, super nice service, dog friendly, and lots of food. For fine dining, we're really glad we can sit outside and bring our dog so he won't be left out at home. Inside is very dark, your classic fine dining ambiance/environment. We basically stuffed our face for a dinner lol. Ordered a lot of food! The ones that are not included in the photos are Lenguado, chicken, paella, pulpo and sangria. Lenguado is my favorite! It's one of the best sole I've eaten in my entire life. That lemon carper sauce is life changing. Not to be dramatic! I like it that much! You have to order seafood dishes!!! They know their seafood! Burrata is also super delicious. I usually do not eat burrata or prosciutto that much because of how salty it is. Here, i finish the plate lol. It was that good. The only thing I was disappointed was the 4lb tomahawk steak. I think they up sales you by making you preorder and blah blah over the phone but when it arrives, it's was good... not great. I've had better tomahawk steak...also kinda toooooooo fatty to my. It's all fat. Also I think this one is the most expensive dish in their food menu. Would not order ever again . It was like 60% fat in that 4 lbs of meat...kinda disappointed Still very delicious. Overall I will come back for the seafood and lunch menus sometime. Also, I felt great after eating that much food. Usually I would be in really bad food coma but I feel normal lol.

We had reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival. We sat on the side of the restaurant by the window. The table next to use was really loud and the place is kinda dark, especially the restrooms. The server was friendly. We were served some bread with a side of chimichurri. The chimichurri had a weird "fishy" scent and taste which threw me off. It wasn't "bad," but it wasn't good either. We ordered an Old Fashion which was really good! My wife had a glass of Malbec which she also enjoyed. We heard great things about the octopus appetizer and it did not disappoint. As far as the entrees and sides, they were just okay. Nothing stellar where we would tell our friends about. My NY strip was overcooked. I ordered it medium rare, but it was closer to a medium and medium well. The mashed potatoes were kinda bland. I added salt and pepper. The crème brûlée we ordered for dessert was one of the best I've had. It had a hint of citrus that took it over the top. The octopus, drinks, and dessert made up for the average steak. It was really busy, so people must love it. Because of that, I probably would give it another chance but wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

Malbec in my opinion is one of the best steakhouses here in the SGV. Their wood fire steaks are a great quality. Tender and juicy. I love ribeye steaks, but have to go leaner as I'm hitting that 60 mark! It's ok, I recently had the 16oz New York cut cooked medium rare and it was excellent. The service is always great and attentive and never disappoint with their knowledge of their menu. The ambience and vibe is that of an upscale steakhouse. I love sitting by the window as it reminds me so much of a Manhattan NYC/Boston feel. I also love the fact that the restaurant is an independent small business that I can support. If you love great quality steaks, look no farther than Malbec's Pasadena!

Best skirt steak! Beet salad was Devine with yellow and red beets, arugula, blue cheese, pears, almonds! They even have seafood down! Filet of sole with lemons and capers was so light and delicious! Service was perfect! Ambiance is better than any pictures on yelp. Nice candle lighting and loved the nice open kitchen. Will be back! Gracias!

The seafood rice dish the server recommended with the tomahawk was excellent. The service was also great.

We had two drinks at the bar before the dinner. The drinks are really good. I like their whiskey drink. It doesn't taste alcohols. The overall environment is great. They have the open kitchen so you can kinda smell the cooking. Their sausages are special to me. The flavor is really good. Not too salty or sweet. Plus the pepper oil sauce made it really tasty. We ordered salad , rib eyes, sausage , and pasta to share. The portion is decent. We end up had Togo. The rib eyes we ordered was medium rare but it came a bit toward medium but still fine for us. The pasta we had is really good , I thought it might be salty when it came but it end up really good. Love the flavor. Overall we will come back again. Saw they have happy hour drink and snack. We would like to come back and try those.

As a French woman who had nothing to do on July 4, I randomly walked into that little spot and I am so so glad I did. Easily one of the best restaurants in the city and rivals with all the best steak houses. Service was wonderful and so is the ambience. Truly recommend.

Clean spot that isn't overly formal but still great for a gathering or date night. We came for the Dine LA lunch menu and ordered: + Camarones con proscuitto: The shrimp was a bit too salty with the prosciutto wrap but thankfully the salad had citrus bits to balance it out. The dressing leaned more acidic than I would've liked so I didn't completely finish this. + Mejillones: Small bowl with lots of sauce. My boyfriend liked to dip the complimentary bread with this. + Burrata: This was the fave dish for our table out of all the appetizers. Not overly rich but good amount of creaminess. + Lenguado: Large filling plate. Everything was well balanced so it's a good choice for those not wanting an overly heavy dish. + Manicotti de Carne: Very rich and flavorful. Good but will leave you stuffed. Note the Dine LA desserts didn't match their online menu. I don't remember the Spanish name for these but here's what we chose. Both were very sweet though, so we couldn't fully finish because we aren't those with a sweet tooth; Pear: Cooked in some kind of sweet syrup. Interesting concept but the syrup was very sweet too. Chocolate/caramel cake: Rich and THICK. As soon as you cut into this with a fork, you'll know what you're in for. It's dense with lots of flavor. Good if you're looking for a sweet cake. Neat decorations with more chocolate and caramel. Overall, I liked this place and the Dine LA lunch menu met the price point as a good deal. But the seasoning/sweetness on some of the dishes leaned heavier than I liked, so 4 stars for me. I could still see myself back and service was great. Note parking is street but the side streets aren't too busy to where you could still find spaces not too far.

I ordered the Arroz Con Marisco which the waiter recommended. Don't listen to them lol, it was nasty. Over cooked Octopus, how do you mess up on that? It doesn't take long to cook it, it was rubbery, blah! Borderline salty too! My boyfriend's dish was yummy! Spinach Ravioli but you don't come in and eat Italian food. I want Argentine's food! Overpriced not worth it, I like the decorations though.

What an amazing evening, the food was spectacular The ambience was great and Loren made the evening perfect. Service was so accommodating and the only thing I would suggest is that the risotto be just a tad bit warmer But I have to say, I think our favorite part of the evening was Loren and just kindness. Thank you Malbec for such a decadent meal

Food was very unseasoned and bland, which was shocking because this place has great reviews. Didn't have an "Argentinean" flavor or flare at all. Tasted like frozen food from Vons, very disappointed. However, staff was great!!

Was so happy they were open on Christmas. Had a lovely dinner here with friends. Loved not having to cook or do dishes. Rosa was our server and she was super attentive despite how incredibly busy they were. The steaks are great and the short rib pasta was stellar.

Located near the South Lake District, plenty on street parking but there is structure parking about a block away. The decor is ice but importantly, it felt inviting. Great service and our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and had great suggestions including the wine. The empanadas were great, decided on 2 orders for 5 people, the spinach and cheese was the winner. Several dishes were ordered and shared family style. The ribeye steak was excellent. The rice with seafood and chorizo (Argentinian version of paella) was tasty plus everything was tender including the octopus. The risotto with mushrooms won the evening especially you get it with scallops. Everything was great and will definitely return. The 5 stars is for the food but I have to say this place knows how to treat guests.

A wonderful culinary experience. The waiter was so attentive and offered suggestions. The location and ambiance added to the meal. The portions were appropriate and I walked away satisfied and full.

I was there this past Friday. Great service great food. This restaurant is in Pasadena and it's really really good. I recommend that 100% if you are a meat lover get a bottle of red wine and you will enjoy this place
