The 38 Essential Mexico City Restaurants

"Malcriado is a small specialty coffee shop in the morning and a wine bar by night. Under the direction of Colombian chef Valeria Vázquez, the kitchen turns out a no-fuss lunch and early dinner menu that draws inspiration from Mediterranean flavors with dishes like sardine and parsley salad, chicken Milanese, and short rib ragu. Though indoor seating is limited, Malcriado takes advantage of Condesa’s tradition of sidewalk seating, creating a vibrant social scene outside to complement the food and wine. The options for breakfast at Malcriado are solid as well, though not out of the ordinary for the neighborhood; chilaquiles, shakshuka, or an Italian ham with fig sandwich all kick off the day right." - Natalia de la Rosa, Daniela Galarza

Adorable cafe and bar - perfect for a pitstop while shopping this area. There is seating indoors and outdoors. We sat outdoors and it was lovely, it’s covered so it provides nice shading. Service was a bit slow but cocktails were delicious. Friendly staff. The burger was fantastic. Other tables had great plates too. This is a contemporary cafe/bar so the menu reflects that. Lot of locals in the area were sitting and enjoying the food and weather. Nice, comfortable, and safe setting. Enjoy a moment of peace and a carajillo!

Delicious cappuccinos and a fantastic breakfast of chilaquiles and shakshuka with avocado. The setting is modern yet unpretentious — elegant, charming, and perfectly Condesa.

Lovely cafe that opens early. We split the granola and chilaquiles and were so happy with both. I wish they gave a bit more milk for the granola, but other than that it was a perfect start to our day! I also got a dirty chai and it was fantastic. They are so hot or miss in different cafes, I’m often let down. But this one was thick, creamy, and flavorful.

Cute little patio setting with a great breakfast selection and coffee selection. I ordered the chilaquiles and flat white and both were awesome

Portion leans towards the smaller side. For the size, it was quite pricey. Latte was decent, not really a fan of the Shashuka.

My new favorite breakfast spot. Great service, great food, and I love eating outdoors. To me, food tastes better when eaten outside. Easy to love this place.

Hip and laid back coffee and wine bar. The flavors are well developed on the food with a selection that is enough to cater any taste. For breakfast the mix with lemon zest is tasteful and refreshing. They have an awesome coffee machine that can do a lit more than just good coffee to go with the food. Will come back for sure.

Really nice cafe, with amazing atmosphere, coffee and food. Cortado was the best I’ve had so far. We ordered the French toast and shakshuka, both super tasty.
