Malelani Cafe

This place is awesome! They give you delicious, flavorful food and big portions. I really enjoyed the Chicken Bowl.

Stopped in with the family for a quick lunch after a Google search for Mediterranean food. The menu online looked good, so we thought we'd check it out. It was incredible! The food was fresh, flavorful and authentic. The chef/owner was very friendly and hospitable. The other employee was extremely soft spoken and we didn't really hear/understood what he said as he brought us our drinks. Our interactions with him were limited and we were able to tell what was who's based on how it looked. Our group of four ordered 1 appetizer, 1 bowl, 2 platters and a pita sandwich. Three in our group ordered specialty iced teas. It was plenty of food despite us all being quite hungry and we even took home some leftovers. The spanokopita we ate at home was to die for. Not one single menu item was average or disappointed us. It was all delicious. My only two complaints are that 1) we don't live nearby to come here more often and 2) a tarot card reader stationed in the restaurant felt out of place (hence the 4 for atmosphere).

The food and drinks were fantastic. All the ingredients seemed fresh, the presentation is earnest and simple. Best smoothie I have had in a long time. Really delicious bowl of Mediterranean food too

I came to watch a musical performance hosted here and was just blown away by the quality of the food and service. Delicious, filling, and frankly one of the most well balanced meals I've had in awhile. Highly recommend

George the owner worked with us to create just the right mix of dishes for a neighbors party for 35 people at our house. He looked at our order from a recent catered event from Malelani, and tweaked it a bit to fit our needs. It was perfect to put out on our dining room table - for people to eat while they were talking to friends. I highly recommend talking to George for your next catered party!

I just moved within walking distance and I'm so glad I tried Malelani on my first day. I had heard Mt. Airy was in a part of the city known for its farm to table culture, but I was not expecting such a fresh and vibrant meal. I got a shawarma platter that was so plentiful it took me 3 occasions to finish. I'll be back soon

Great food, unique. The smoothie was just so-so. The singer and his group of followers were really annoying - very politically self-righteous. I strongly recommend this place for interesting food - but unless you like being preached to, sit outside during the music.

Chicken is the main meat but so many wonderful vegetable dishes that this meat eater did not even miss it tonight. Great band, warm atmosphere and very attentive staff. Made my wife and I feel as if we were the only ones in the restaurant even though the house was packed and many couples were enjoying the evening and dining. Would definitely recommend and we have already picked out a couple from work that we will introduce to Malelani Cafe
