Malibu’s Pierside Eatery Heading for Seaport Village | Eater San Diego

"Replacing the decades-old Harbor House as the Port’s new anchor tenant, the waterfront outpost Malibu Farm got its start as a pop-up cafe at the Malibu pier and has since expanded across the U.S. and internationally to Miami, New York City, Cabo San Lucas, and Tokyo. Founded by Swedish celebrity chef Helene Henderson and her husband, actor John Stockwell, it offers a California-centric menu that includes tacos, salads, and pizzas with cauliflower and broccoli crusts. Construction is scheduled to start next fall with the aim of opening for business by Summer 2022." - Candice Woo

Yelp
Malibu Farm was cool for dinner. Very nice staff. Indoor and outdoor seating available. I ordered the chicken burger which unfortunately has pork mixed into the chicken. I'm not anti pork just wanted the option to remove the bacon if I didn't want it but I digress. It was yummy and came with mashed potatoes that had broccoli mixed in. Interesting combo but really good. Sister had some type of vegan bowl and she had shrimp added on the side. The shrimp smelled like FISH. Fresh seafood should never smell like fish. Cooked fish shouldn't even smell like fish lol. She had it sent back, no issue. They offered her new shrimp but that one smelled and tasted the same so they just removed it. Also ordered Frosé which was good too.

Yelp
Context is everything. We booked a seven day vacation at Nobu Hotel Los Cabos. We have now had six meals at Malibu Farm and still have three days left of our trip. I am thankful Malibu Farm is a dining option (there are only two other restaurants on property). The food is good in quality and the service is great (as with everywhere else at Nobu hotel). What I wish they would fix some minor things. 2 scrambled eggs is $4, but a little cheese in those eggs? $3.50. Ask for filtered still water, get served bottled water at a $11 price. Look at menu online, show up and get a printed menu with increased prices. This is a nice restaurant, but probably not when it's twice a day for a week. Update: added a star to the previous review because the manager Gustavo went out of his way to make the rest of our visits the best they could be.

Yelp
Malibu Farm is no longer open. A similar concept under a different name is open, but only available to resort guests.

Yelp
Lovely place and yummy food. We asked our server about the saffron couscous salad and he brought us a tiny sample which was so nice of him. Ended up getting their veggie wrap and 2 burgers. Food was amazing and tasted so good. One suggestion if you are going to try the veggie wrap is to share that with someone. It looks small but it's very heavy and one person can't finish it.

Yelp
The food is California fare. Given the name you kind of expect it. First thing I noticed, yowza this place is pricey! Good thing work is paying for it ;) Food is pretty darn good though. At them prices it better be. I had a fish of the day which was well cooked. It was served with mixed greens and some mashed potato all of which was great. The star of the meal was our "Appetizer" which an avocado pizza. I am confident saying this is probably their best dish. It's appropriate given it's Cali style food and the first rule of Cali food is throw some avocado on it. Boy I'm so glad they listened.

Yelp
We loved it so much we ate there for breakfast and dinner the same day! Everything we ordered was delicious. We love it as much as we love The original Malibu Farm in Malibu. So glad they didn't lose any of their quality. Breakfast burrito was great. Coconut french toast was very unique in presentation with the brioche cut into bite size cubes and toasted. Then served in a creamy coconut milk with toasted coconut flakes and a berry compote (which I got on the side cause I wasn't sure if I felt like that or maple syrup.) So delicious with dipping each bite into the compote. The whole dish reminded me of a tres leches in a way. We also had the fresh watermelon juice and green juice. For dinner we had the Greek Salad with added shrimp and the Pizza with Avocado. The pizza has jalapeño ricotta, fresh thin slices of avocado, cilantro, a serrano pepper or 2 on each pizza slice (easy to take off if you don't do spicy) and drizzle of agave. It was like taking avocado toast to another fun level. Finished off with carrot cake which was moist, flavorful and equally as delicious as the rest of the meals. Sunset was beautiful. As Nobu hotel hasn't even had their grand opening yet, I'm sure things will continue to get busier for them. But they are sure off to a great start. Service from hostess, server Jesus, food and ambience all were above expectations. Will definitely be back on our next trip.

Yelp
I came here for a late lunch with my friends and hubby and we ordered a bunch of stuff. Decor was a rustic shabby chic design and was good for groups. Menu featured organic veggies grown from their own garden on the property which was very cool. Pricing was a bit on the higher side which is to be expected because food was gourmet and it's located in the Nobu Hotel. Definitely high quality food and yummy too. Avocado pizza was my favorite. Funny thing quacomole was not on the menu. We also had the nachos, Ginger Steak with broccoli mash, Tuna Tataki with salad, Grass fed Burger and fries, and seabass with rice. Every dish was delish! Service was great of course. We ended up eating here 3 times while stayed here. They are great for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Yelp
The restaurant ambience is beautiful. This place is located within the Nobu Hotel in Cabo. The presentation of the food that we ordered was aesthetically pleasing. The food menu wasn't too overwhelming. The options were nice considering the location and the hotel. The view when eating is beautiful. It is an open restaurant viewing the ocean and the hotel pools. We had ordered one of the avocado pizzas, the three tacos, a pear salad and I think one of the other girls ordered a crudités. The tacos, so I was told, was delicious but all the tacos had black beans on it. I think it would have been better if only 1 had black beans and the other tacos were made differently to sample their great flavors of the meat and veggies. The salad was delicious and with great cheese and vinaigrette. Although the avocado pizza was so simple and could look like it could be made by anyone at home, it was delicious. It had a lightly toasted crust, generous amount of avocado slices, and a cheese on it. The service was awesome. Staff gave us some suggestions on their menu. It was late morning and early afternoon when we arrived and so their were flies but they had an instrument placed on the table to keep the flies away and was so helpful. This restaurant is tasteful and beautiful! I would recommend others visiting Nobu and Hardrock or Cabo in general to visit and eat here.

Yelp
We walked to Nobu for breakfast but the kitchen is actually Malibu farms. So Nobu venue or breakfast but not the Nobu kitchen. The view is breathtaking. The food was good, not great. Service is good and there are mani options to choose from. We ate here for our first morning in Cabo. Super chill. There was only like 1 or 2 more people there when we were. I ordered the Surfer Rancheros and would probably order something else next time! It was kinda bland. I was looking for more of a kick but still solid.

Yelp
Excellent food and service here at Malibu Farm. The food is so good, the breakfast has an excellent ABC Tacos. It is so good, the servers here are amazing too. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
They claim to be open and take reservations and they are not once you arrive they suggest you go to nobu super pricy restaurant and the don't let ubers on property so you have to pay their taxi service for outrageous amounts. Insane.

Yelp
Had a great breakfast here this morning! super amazing staff, catering to your every need. I had a vanilla almond milk latte (actually two they were amazing), and the beach omelette. Omelette was not too runny and not too dry- and the asparagus was sliced up so small it added the perfect crunch to the breakfast! Will definitely be returning while I am staying at the Nobu!!

Yelp
We have been to the original Malibu Farms in Malibu and the food is much better here. Have had breakfast lunch and dinner here and tried a bit of everything, it has all been excellent. My only complaint was we ordered a bottle of red wine and it came ice cold. Really ruined the flavor of a good bottle of Montalcino.

Yelp
Boring, and very basic menu. The service/server (Juan) was great, but the food was nothing special. 590 peso burger was a major disappointment, crab cakes were mush, shrimp dish was super basic. Another overpriced Cabo restaurant that completely under delivers. It's also in the middle of nowhere.

Yelp
Had the waffles which I think were frozen. Switched to the multi grain pancakes and they were delicious! Great breakfast spot but the wrong atmosphere for us to enjoy dinner there (seems like a breakfast lunch atmosphere).

Yelp
Every single item on the menu is exquisite! You must try the avocado pizza it's unbelievable. Price is decent as well, I definitely thought it would be more expensive. Their service is impressive as well.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with underwhelming food. Everyone raved about the avocado pizza - it was ok but overhyped. The broccoli mash was tasteless. Every dish was bland. The grilled chocolate cake was the most disappointing - it was a mediocre sponge cake that may have been grilled hours ago.

Yelp
This restaurant is designed to be very stark looking and very modern. It is located in a large complex that feels almost like a abandoned modern comPlex. There were only 2 other parties eating there it it was strange. The menu is small with interesting sounding dishes. The catch of the day was good but the so called pizza was very bad and more like a very flat cracker with lettuce and little else. The vegetarian pailla was good. The wine list is a joke and obviously where they make most of there profit. We had a glass of an under $20 bottle of Argentine Malbec with the smallest pour I've ever seen for $20 a glass. When we complained about the pour the waiter pointed to two of his fingers and said that's all you get. For what is considered a top tier restaurant this place falls far short and explains why there was nobody dining there. There are so many great restaurants in Cabo be sure too skip thIs one.

Yelp
Food was delicious and fresh. Service was very attentive. The restaurant has been in operation for a short time and there are a few things to work out. Having lived in Mexico before I've learned to always ask the waiter to repeat the order before he submits it to the kitchen. Surprisingly, of four people who ordered, my order was not reiterated by the waiter. I then very clearly stated "corn pizza" and he nodded in acknowledgement. Unfortunately, I received the avocado pizza. Not a big deal. Plus, the manager let us have it on the house. The corn pizza came out in short order. Mexico is notorious for ripping off Americans - whether it's egregious pricing or gratuities. When we received the bill, we left two credit cards to split the bill. There was a line for "propina" (tip) on the credit card slip which left me perplexed because I thought I'd seen in the itemized receipt that the tip was already included. I had to ask to view the itemized receipt again (Which by the way is a big no-no. The itemized receipt should always be included with the credit card slips. Always.). So I get the itemized receipt and see that a tip was already added to the bill. So why was I being asked to tip yet again? Nobu this is not ok. If anything, you must make it clear to your customer that this is an "additional gratuity". This is obviously a very sneaky practice and one I would never expect from an establishment like Nobu. Two things went wrong here 1) the itemized receipt was intentionally left out when we received our credit card slips and 2) you asked for a gratuity on the credit card slip as if it were not already included in the bill. To correct this, ensure that the wait staff include the itemized receipt with the credit card slips and make it clear that additional gratuity is labeled as exactly that, an additional gratuity.
