Darren is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. This place has his soul vibe and it's very full and warm. He was so nice that he comped my order bc it was missing a few things, and then refunded it bc the new order was taking so long!!! 🤣 THE ONLY VEGAN PLACE IN MARIN!!! If you feel like vegan faux meat burgers... Stop in!!! One thing is the burgers could be a bit bigger (hungry vegan).

Google
We finally have Malibu Burgers in Marin! Have been anticipating this vegan burger place since Feb 2024 and they finally opened. Burgers are amazing. Definitely recommend the Malibu burger and Needy Meaty burger! Opening hours on Google are INCORRECT! They are currently open Thu - Sun from noon - 8pm!

Google
THEY ARE OPEN! Google says closed. They opened on 1/4/2025 Saturday and we were 2nd in line. Food is crazy good. I had the Needy Meaty and tater tots. Glad these guys are in Marin now. I’m back to night with smaller appetite and having the Bottom Fries. Wow!

Mariah Bevard

Google
Outstanding food and service!! They have unique sauces that take these dishes to the next level. I've been to the location in Oakland and so glad they are open in Marin now!

Google
We were eager to try out this new addition to vegan options in Marin and it was delicious! We were a group of five and needed to do takeout, and every part of our order was delicious and packed carefully to go. We got the Tasha Grande, Needy Meaty, La Lulu, and Fight the Power, along with Hella Fries. They were all so, so good! The Hella Fries were like animal fries and the Hella Sauce was a sort of carmelized onion, sweet chutney on top. Delicious! Please give this amazing new, all vegan restaurant your support!

Google
I went on opening day and the day after. They cleaned everything before making my order to make sure it would be safe for me (celiac), and I didn't even have to ask them to! They offer gluten free buns, with no upcharge! The food is soooo good! Anywhere else else I'd buy a gluten free burger with an impossible patty in Marin would easily be $20, but not here! Currently $14-16 dollars for their burgers. Malibu's Burgers is also Black-owned, which is a rarity in Marin. This is now at the top of my list for safe places to eat with good food at good pricing. They were so kind and informative about their kitchen and ingredients in making sure I could eat safely. Highly recommend!

The owner and employees at Malibus burger are very welcoming. I work nearby and pick up lunch here atleast once a week. The sandwich I posted has become my favorite from their menu so far.

Google
We just tried this new place in downtown San Rafael with my husband and toddler and it was a fantastic experience!! So excited to have such a delicious burger joint near us, with amazing, thoughtfully designed all vegan menu! Even though it just opened and clearly they are working on some areas of the space it already has a fun hip vibe. We had a blast there and will be coming regularly. The burgers were decadent and delicious, with every detail clearly tweaked and polished, down to buns and sauces. I am confident you do not need to be vegan or vegetarian to enjoy it, but wow this is such a treat if you are. I am recommending it for anyone in a mood for a delicious creative burger. They have both “chicken” and “beef” type of options, they small have kids menu, and they have healthier salad option too. The owner was very sweet, and shared that the menu will actually expand significantly even though it already seemed so interesting and creative. Very much looking forward to them thriving in Marin!

Emma E.

Yelp
I've enjoyed eating at Malibu's since writing my OG review and have become a huge fan of the Tasha Grande (double, please) and tempura-fried Oreos. Come find out on their Instagram that their last day of service in Marin will be Sunday. What a loss! They make the best vegan burger in Marin. Customer service has been on point and really improved, and now they're gone. Why does it have to be so hard for good restaurants to succeed around here?

Sha G.

Yelp
Malibu's Burgers is here! Darren Preston has bought his incredible East Bay restaurant across the bridge and I'm grateful. Marin just got a bump up in the food game. It's located on the busy 4th Street in San Rafael. There's street parking or lot parking near by. Staff are still learning about the register, kitchen staff are figuring out orders, and I've heard Darren is having a heck of a time with the space. It's all the things a new business works through so be patient. Let's get to the good part...the food! The menu has impossible burgers, chick'n sandwiches, salad, and fries. I'm hoping the menu could expand with time. East Bay's location has breakfast and milk shakes...yum. The space is simple, clean, and offer sit down or take out. It's fast food, but it's way more than that. The ingredients are fresh, vegan, and packed with flavors. The Needy Meaty at $16 is thick with a meaty patty, Be Leaf bacon strip, crisp leaf of lettuce, onions, lizard sauce, and cheese on a soft bun. It's sinfully good and I will add pickles next time. I ate my burger and wanted another. The Lizard Salad ($8) was tasty. The chunks of chick'n, crisp croutons, and shreds of lettuce covered in lizard sauce was crunchy heaven. What is in that addictive lizard sauce!? I was hoping for romaine instead of iceberg lettuce, but that's just me. It was really good though. I hope Marin can embrace Darren and his vegan excellence. It's a gem and the food is hella good.

Yelp
So happy they finally opened in Marin. Went opening weekend and got a trio to try - the Malibu, needy meat and lulu cluck along with tots and fries. All was good but you could tell the kitchen was still working out kinks. I really liked the nerdy meaty it has a mix of spice with the lizard sauce and sweet from the caramelized onions. My partner didn't feel it was balanced - the pretzel bun added to the sweetness. Chicken had a breading issue and Seasoning on the fries was a bit too strong. We knew we would give them a second try though. Next time up we got the Malibu and needy meaty again but replaced the chicken with the Tasha and added stadium fries. Tasha hit the spot for both of us. It has diced onion and a drippy sauce - it's like a better version of a Big Mac. I swear the impossible burger is bigger and meatier then the one we have access to in the stores. I'm in love with Stadium fries garlic and parm. Partner sticking with the krinkle cut fries - the seasoning has been done with a lighter hand and the cook spot on. Now that we have a go to order and they deliver we have ordered three days in a row!

Eric E.

Yelp
Fries n tater tot's really crispy and the Tasha grande (vegan Big Mac) is fire! Overall service was great. Young man who took our order which was for 8 people was very hospitable. I would recommend going here vegan or not to support an awesome establishment.

Andrew F.

Yelp
Awful. I got a burger to takeaway and I sensed a looming disappointment as I sampled the smell on the drive home. It was neither burger-like nor remotely appetizing. I unwrapped it to discover that the aesthetics were the equal of the odor. Hoping for the best, I took one bite and then promptly set it aside. The taste is reminiscent of stale, beef w broccoli from a low rent Chinese takeaway. I couldn't toss it into the trash quickly enough.

Johnny B. G.

Yelp
Terrible service, no water? Who doesn't have water...My burger took forever and was lousy. Bun was stale and the aburger was overcooked and super greasy. Avoid this place at all costs. Very bad value.

Justine G.

Yelp
Finally an all vegan restaurant in San Rafael! Their opening was a long time coming, but so worth the wait. Really tasty burgers and fries. Love the caramelized onions on the burgers and fries. They'll be adding more to their menu soon, including milkshakes! Will be a frequent customer for sure. Highly recommend for everyone!

Mariah B.

Yelp
Outstanding food and service!! They have unique sauces that take these dishes to the next level. I've been to the location in Oakland and so glad they are open in Marin now!

Yelp
Amazing burgers and fries! Fantastic service! We ordered online for a group of five, and they had our order ready and carefully packaged. We got the Tasha Grande, Needy Meaty, La Lulu, and Fight the Power, along with Hella Fries. They were all so, so good! The Hella Fries were like animal fries and the Hella Sauce was a sort of carmelized onion, sweet chutney on top. Delicious!

Nicolas H.

Yelp
Great burgers and chick'n sandwiches! I'm a sucker for anything with buffalo sauce, so the "fight the power" chick'n sandwich really hit the spot. The buffalo sauce was perfect and would get it again and again. The fries and tots were decent but a little salty the time we visited.

Sherry G.

Yelp
A friend recommended this place, so I decided to stop by and get the Malibu Burger single, which tasted great! The bun had a great crisp, almost like it was toasted on the inside. The burger didn't taste overly greasy and it came with Impossible meat (though you can switch it for Beyond Meat, if you'd like). It wasn't too heavy, but I still had trouble finishing (I ate 3/4 of mine). Even though we got dine-in, the burgers were still wrapped in single-use packaging and all placed in a paper to-go bag. This means you likely save on carbon emissions because you're forgoing meat, but create carbon emissions from the single-use packaging and lack of compost bins. Overall, this is still probably more eco-friendly than your typical fast food chain. ECO NOTES (Dine-In) Note: The entire order came in a paper bag, so it's basically to-go. Compost Bins: Not available. Only two trash bins. Dine-In Dishware: Burger wrapped in paper (I'm guessing parchment paper to deal with heat) Napkins: Single-use disposable paper napkins/paper towels* Utensils: Plastic single-use utensils* *Since these are in a holder, you can easily choose to bring your own (BYO).

Yelp
I went there with a friend for lunch at noon today and was disappointed to find the place shut, despite the sign posted in their window showing opening hours on Wednesday being Noon. We went down the street and had a fine meal and passed by there on our way back to the cars. At 2 PM, Malibu's still was not open and no signs of life. Yes they are new, but the owner has been doing this same bit since 2019 in the East Bay, so should have their systems refined enough for this stuff not to happen. San Rafael is embracing feeding us vegans better so there are more dependable alternatives easily available.

Colin R.

Yelp
Wow! Just wow! I've had my fair share of vegan or plant based burgers but this was my best experience so far. Came on a Friday at around 1:30pm and there was just one group ahead of us. So we missed the rush everyone talks about I guess. We got the Patti melt and Needy Meaty, and made them combos with a regular and a hella hella fries. And a black vanilla milkshake to wash it down. The burgers were amazing, distinct flavors, greasy as it should be. Special shout-out to the pretzel bun on the Needy. The milkshake was the bomb -- so thick and creamy! We left so satisfied and craving to come back soon. Parking is always tricky in Piedmont, but the street is a fun walk. You can dine in but the setting is sparse, so taking to go in the cute burger box is the preferred option.

Ed F.

Yelp
Went here for the first time last Sunday at the San Rafael location. FANTASTIC food and service! This crew rocks and I LOVE having another accessible place to eat and get great tasting plant-based food! Hope you're here forever!

Sarah T.

Yelp
Best burger I've had in years! The pretzel bun was amazing! The sauce was saucy. Although I'm a meat fan, I'm now a Malibu Burger fan!!!

Andrea A.

Yelp
Vegans and vegetarians rejoice! After months of anticipation, Malibu's Burgers has opened and it is so worth the wait. Please, please, please, support this hard working , family run business. The food is fresh and delicious. The owner (Mr. Malibu) is passionate, friendly and charming. Even if you are not vegan/vegetarian this burger is just so satisfying.

Caroline S.

Yelp
Wow. Just wow! We usually go to Amy's for date night, but this week we decided to try Malibu's Burgers--and it completely blew us away. The sandwiches are handcrafted, with tons of flavor. On top of that, the service was incredibly attentive and welcoming. We're looking forward to our next visit!

Coner Y.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible.. the loaded fries with the onion jam was maybe one of the best things I have ever had. So so glad you guys are on this side of the bay. Even my non vegan friends were amazed with the food. Congratulations on the new location !

paula c.

Yelp
Malibu's Burgers is some of the best vegan fast comfort food so I'm willing to make the drive even though it's 40 minutes round trip. I ordered an Angry Tasha (maybe I should have been warned off by the name but more on that later), Hella Hella fries and a chocolate shake. Of course I had to sample to fries in my way home. I'm not ashamed to say that they were finished by the time I got home. The caramelized onions and melty cheese and mamas sauce was sooo good on the crispy hot fries. The chocolate shake was creamy and delish! The Angry Tasha had good elements but the blackberry habanero sauce was super hot- no joke! Even though I like spicy, this was too much for me. I had to finish my shake to cool off my tender tongue. No matter- I was already full and now I know what I want to order next time. The shop is a shop window. No indoor access. Street parking only.

Steven F.

Yelp
We have been to the San Rafael store twice in a week, and it's amazing. The food tastes so good. My wife, who is not vegan, loved her meal. We love this place.

Andrea C.

Yelp
What a wonderful addition to San Rafael. Great quality burger, fresh brioche and great tomato's. The staple burger comes with caramelized onion. The team was very nice. Would be a great spot to eat at on the go or bring to your favorite bar / home. Wish I took some pictures!

Stephen H.

Yelp
Everything has been cleared out. Looks like a long term temporary closing. They said social media is updated but not this listing

Elana S.

Yelp
They appear to no longer be open. Devastated, heart broken and starving What do we do now???

Alex W.

Yelp
As a huge burger fan and all around burger-seeker (especially regular meat burgers), this is the best burger I've had in the Bay in years. You absolutely cannot tell that it's a vegan burger and the ingredients are incredible - the carmelized onions are insane and the love that is put into making them is obvious! We ordered just the standard Malibu Burgers and as I said above, the best burger I've had in years! Got a side of the Hella Hella fries but switched fries for tots and they were also insanely good. It did take a little bit for the food to come out, but I can tell the quality is exceptional with the time put into it and I appreciate the love in making the food. Finally, I chatted with the owner at the end and he was a super nice and laidback guy. So much dedication for the burger that I then decided I had to get the Ube milkshake to wash down all the amazing food. As I'm about to head out for a nice dinner tonight, I can't stop thinking about going to grab one of these burgers tomorrow for lunch too!

Mindy L.

Yelp
Good variety of vegan burgers and sandwiches when you're craving something a little heartier than a veggie sando. Got the buffalo "chicken" sandwich which comes with a spread and pickles on a brioche bun. The flavors were delicious and it held together really well (didn't fall apart as you ate) I do wish there was more pickles or layer of light lettuce to balance things. The patty was pretty thick and I wanted more of the crunchiness that was around the outside. It's right off Piedmont so you gotta find street parking. The inside looked like it wasn't finished being decorated, so wonder if they'll be finishing that soon or leaving as is?

Andrew S.

Yelp
Food and service were great. I am still amazed that the burger tasted just like a McDonald's Big Mac! Danny was great too!

Nucion A.

Yelp
Amazing food. Owner was had great customer service. I'm assuming this is a new location. Everything is Super Duper Fresh. I had the chicn sandwich it was delicious. Just enough spice. The ambiance is magnetic. It draws you in to the comfort of the eatery. Just an overall wonderful experience.

Isabel P.

Yelp
SO GOOD! exactly what Marin needed and a great addition to Fourth st. Staff is super friendly and great atmosphere. Best burger I've had in Marin, and I'm not even vegan! They just opened so I'm excited to see them grow. Worth every penny.

Debbie D.

Yelp
It's no secret that Oakland is the hub for vegan food! I'm so glad my friend introduced me to this place because this fast-food restaurant is a must-try. |PARKING| Piedmont Ave is a bustlin' street with an abundance of restaurants, coffee shops, and cafes. There is a metered parking and street parking can be tricky on the weekends, but the turnover is fairly quick. |ORDERING| I've only ordered online and they send you SMS updates on when the food is ready. The estimated wait was 30 minutes, which was accurate for us. This tells me that their food is in high demand! |FOOD| Using Impossible patties as their substitute meat, it creates a juicy, fatty taste adjacent to a real burger! Additionally, combined with their perfectly toasted buns...that is finger-licking good! They've named their burgers interesting names, such as "Tasha Grande" and "MaThizzle." I don't know who Tasha is, but she makes a mean burger. This burger is a replica of MickeyDee's Big Mac with the triple buns layered with cheese, lettuce, and double patties. The taste was very convincing! I never got to try a Philly's cheesesteak before I stopped eating meat, so I couldn't pass up the chance with their Gillie Philly. I have nothing to reference to, so all I can say that this cheesesteak sent me. The caramelized onions with the juicy Impossible "meat," topped with Follow Your Heart American Cheese....just YUM! Their fries were pretty good too! Definitely better than other fast-food chains. Not only do they offer classics, they have decked out fries with sauces or herbs and cheeses on top. My experience here has been great and I only have praise for the quality of the food and customer service. Buying one menu item and fries kept me full for a long time. Until next time!

Tracy R.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to find a veggie burger; found this place on yelp. Walked in and I was like, do you have any vegetarian selections and the guy said everything is vegetarian. So they need to improve their marketing - because you wouldn't necessarily realize that unless you asked. My daughter had a fake chicken burger and we've been back three times since. Very good. I dinged them a star because the interior ambience is kind of awful. Very utilitarian. Seems like they could make it a little warmer without too much effort.

David S.

Yelp
I first visited Malibu's Burgers with my friend and her parents; she was visiting from out of town, and her stepfather is really into vegan and plant-based food. We ordered entrees, fries and tots, and shakes. I chose the Gillie Phillie and a Hazelnut shake. I liked my sandwich; the shake, however, was out of this world, and especially impressive considering it did not include any dairy. I had been meaning to return for several months, but Malibu's is just far enough from where I live that I never pass it on a walk and rarely find myself in the neighborhood. This week, though, I got my flu shot at Kaiser, so I decided to walk up Piedmont Ave afterwards to return to Malibu's. I had COVID last month and couldn't take advantage of Malibu's birthday sundae offer, and when I mentioned this at the counter, they made me a birthday sundae on the spot! I was also going to order a burger, but I saw the size of the sundae and feared anything else would be too much. I only felt bad that I hadn't grabbed cash on my way out the door; next time I will be extra generous with my tip. I look forward to returning many times and working my way through the menu! The prices at Malibu's are a little high for burgers, but hey, it's the Bay Area. If I worked in tech, maybe I'd visit all the time. The ambiance also leaves something to be desired, but to be fair, a burger joint -- vegan or otherwise -- is not a place I go for ambiance. Perhaps Malibu's can find a smaller place when their lease runs out and lower prices a bit. The only other thing that could use improvement is the menu itself, which strangely does not describe a couple of the items it lists. Overall, though, I hope they don't make any big changes. At Malibu's Burgers, the food is good and the customer service is outstanding -- what's not to like?

Amber T.

Yelp
Ah I so badly wanted to like this place!!! We got the Ghostown Burger and the Needy Meaty with hella hella fries. The burgers were very bland overall. I found myself wishing there was more BBQ sauce, etc. Unlike some vegan burger joints, they don't season the patty themselves so that was an opportunity for improvement for me. I prefer the vegan burgers at Burger Patch, Rabbit Food Revolution, or Señor Burger in Sacramento. The fries weren't bad, but nothing special. I wish they melted the cheese more on top. It was mostly still a solid slice when I got my fries. Also tried a chocolate milkshake and was not a fan. There was an odd aftertaste to it and it also was way too sweet. I threw most of it away.

Renee F.

Yelp
Malibu's burgers is so good and I'm a part-time meat eater. I came here with a vegan friend and neither of us were disappointed. The food is cooked fresh to order (which is appreciated) so if you're in a rush call it in. I ordered a patty melt with stadium tots and was mad that I got full before I could finish it all. The lizard sauce is hella good, def recommend for dipping fries and tots. Next time I'm going to get that on my patty melt instead of the garlic sauce. They have gender neutral bathrooms, the restaurant is clean, and they do vegan food so well! Parking is relatively easy and you can use the ParkMobile app for street parking if you don't have

Jim S.

Yelp
I'm happy they got a store front but I somehow miss the days of the food truck. The food is great. They fell off for a short time then bounced back. Their burgers are great and the the breakfast sandwiches are the show stoppers. The staff is always hospitable. Love their shakes too. I like how they pack the food with intention. I don't like how they leave the top of the burger exposed in the bag. Sometimes there's a line but other times it's chill. They handle delivery pretty well.

Elesia S.

Yelp
Malibu's is my favorite vegan food spot in the bay. You can't go wrong with any of the items on the menu. Ask them about their dipping sauces, you won't be disappointed!! My go to is the angry Tasha, with fries and a captain crunch shake; it always makes my day !! Service is amazing, but they do get busy, so I recommend ordering ahead !!

AJ S.

Yelp
Expensive, but everything comes out super fresh. Make sure you eat it right away. All vegan menu and they use really good melty cheese. Friend said she wouldn't know it's vegan if she wasn't told. The tater tots are probably the best we have tried, super crispy and delicious (and somehow don't feel oily). I think the price point is a bit high, but I get it must be expensive to run a vegan business with quality ingredients and be on Piedmont Avenue. They have a separate area where you can sit and eat. It's no frills inside, but over time I'm sure they'll figure it out. Pros: -Vegan! -Fast food options -Milkshake options galore -Tater tots are amazing (you get a lot) -Option to sit inside and eat -Melty, gooey vegan cheese Cons: -Pricy -Lettuce may need to be switched out for a more crispy variety, it got wilted super fast and you don't get much -If you're here for the ambiance don't stay and eat

Eri S.

Yelp
Mmmm, juicy, umami, nice sear, perfect amount of tomatoes, lettuce, and sauce, balanced burger. Admittedly was starving for a super late lunch but so satisfying. First time and was asked what I was looking for. Juicy, soft (tooth problems, again), balanced and spicy. Ordered the recommended Malibu burger with jalapeños. And Jarritos tamarindo. Delish as recommended but not at all spicy. Asked for more jalapeños and she got me a side of peppers and the buffalo sauce. They clearly had gotten a batch of very mild chilis, like slightly zesty green peppers. The buffalo sauce was spicy and salty. Appreciated they worked to cover my spice craving Def will be back to try more stuff. Super nice folks. Not a cute space to eat in but was happy with clean.

Ailar P.

Yelp
I tried Malibu Burger for the first time after my sister kept recommending it to me. They have a variety of burgers so you're guaranteed to find something you like. I tried the Needy Meaty burger with a gluten-free bun and the Tasha sauce since I don't like my burgers spicy. The owner, Darren is so polite and professional. He stopped by several times to make sure we had everything and were enjoying our meal. He even had us try their new special cookie dough pancakes which were incredible!! I would highly recommend going here whether you're vegan or not. It's a must!

Lotus E.

Yelp
I have to note that the owner already resorted to personal attacks and saying that I'm lying when I shared my experience, which was pretty unexpected and hurtful. It cost $70 for two people to each get a burger, tater tots, and small shake. They were out of fries. Aside from price and stock issues, there's a lot of room for improvement. They ask if the meal is for here or to go, but if you choose to dine in they don't give plates or silverware. We were given the food in a to-go bag at the front. It seemed like they were mainly equipped for delivery/pickup which was disappointing since we came a long way to dine in. The building was surprisingly bare, it felt like they recently moved in but didn't fully finish setting up for customers. Menu didn't have descriptions for most items. The lack of service combined with unclear menu, no plates, silverware, cups, empty building with no decor, was all odd. The Malibu Burger was good but didn't stand out from cheaper vegan burger places. The tater tots were way too salty. The milkshakes were underfilled and it seemed like another flavor got mixed in by accident. Both my boyfriend and I got an upset stomach from the food, not food poisoning but just from how greasy and over salted it was. Overall things just kept getting more disappointing. When I shared this earlier, the owner was downright mean with zero professionalism. Maybe there's just something going on with him personally, but overall his treatment of customers only reinforces the negative experience.

Paul W.

Yelp
Delicious vegan comfort food made fresh and served by friendly staff! The food was made fresh and was hot and delicious. Definitely check out Malibu's if you are craving some vegan comfort food!

Jessica S.

Yelp
Ordered in the store because I had been craving something greasy and...cheesy. The bottom fries, and other options, didn't have any descriptions in the menu and the team members taking my order struggled to explain the differences. Red flag. Then, I waited outside for a good fifteen minutes, until every order after me had been fulfilled before going back into the ridiculously hot restaurant to follow up on my order. Research was done, order was taken and paid for but somehow not made. Oof. Waited another fifteen minutes or so and was given a free drink. I was in a decent mood and the person who caught the mistake refunded my order (but not the tip--interesting). This, I am grateful for as it's nice when a business takes ownership of their mistakes and provides good customer service...eventually. However, I am not vegan. The food was extremely greasy to the point where it was more of a food truck, middle-of-the-night, hangover fix food rather than anything you'd expect to find on Piedmont. I would not return for the food or the service.

MeChelle C.

Yelp
1st of all this place is Vegan, no it's not in the name BUT... 2ndly OMG best burgers ever! Everything is so decadent. I've been following them since they were a food bus! And it was always worth the wait in line. All the staff is so nice too. I personally cannot even tell it's vegan but I'm so happy they are. Whenever I'm in the area I stop by for a treat! I tried nearly everything on the menu! My kids love it too! Go in! And prepare to be amazed :-p

Joyce L.

Yelp
We came ready and hungry after a swim workout. The options completely blew me away as every single item on the menu was vegan. So much for the one-burger option! -no complaints here! :) The cashier was very friendly and helped us narrow down our burger choice to the Needy Meaty (with two patties. We also added Bottom Fries which has a mix of fries and tots! This would be my friend's first time ever having Impossible burger, so he was blown away by pretty much everything we ordered. I personally don't eat this kind of thing regularly so it was definitely and indulgent treat. The food was well made with fresh ingredients and care. Despite the generous fixins, we were able to eat our burger halves without making a huge mess. As someone who rarely ate burgers (even when I did eat meat), the patty was juicy and had great texture; the sauce and cheese just fused the patty with the delicious pretzel bun. PRETZEL BUN!!! I'm really glad we opted to share. I totally would not have finished a full serving. I had to pull out the extra patty, one was enough for me! I really wanted to get a (non-dairy) milkshake but there just wasn't enough space for it! Maybe next time! And there for sure will be a next time! Thanks Malibu's!

Yelp
My friend and I decided to have lunch from Malibu's Burger. We wanted to try something different and though plant based would be good. I had the angry Tasha burger. We shared the stone city fries and chick'n tenders. I am not sure if I got the right burger, as I didn't taste the onion ring inside. The impossible burger was ok, but no comparison to in texture to a real beef burger. I thought the taste of all the ingredients in the burger just blended together. I could not taste the habanero blackberry sauce, nor the shredded lettuce. I enjoyed the sides better. The chick'n tender was fried crisp and stayed that way the entire time. The faux chicken didn't really taste like chicken though. The stone city fries was covered with buffalo chick'n bits and tasha sauce all over. The size of the fries were big. That was a good thing, as the entire dish is wet and messy. You need a fork to eat it. We ordered the large size and it would be enough for 4 people. If you were to ask me if this meal would make me change to an all plant based diet, I would say no. Maybe once a month this will fulfill for me.

Yelp
I accidentally ordered the Malibu's burger, Im actually not vegan, in fact I'm the opposite, took the first bite and fell in love, I couldn't resist not to eat it, I felt the need to cheat considering I haven't eat carbs in a long time. Malibu's burger will be my cheat place once in a while. Lol :)

Yelp
I think their new location is a better fit. The old location always left me a little disappointed somehow, I was trying to like it but it was hard. Everything I've had at the new spot has been amazing and seems like a better value.

Yelp
Say what? This isn't real meat???? Well you sure had me fooled. The burgers here are savory, flavorful, and oh so delicious. They are also very filling, so while you could do the double patty business, there's really no need. Unless of course, you're just a super hungry person with a bottomless pit for a stomach. They just added a new breakfast sammich to the menu, which is available all day and it's quite literally the best thing I've had in a while. The sausage has a little spice to it and the addition of a hash brown inside just sets my soul aflame. It's so filling I didn't need to eat the rest of the day. While the prices are a bit of a shocker ($17+ for the breakfast sammie) you won't be disappointed with what you get. Plus rent in Oakland, even for a store front, is stupid expensive! You'll leave with a hella tasty burger, fries or tots, and maybe a refreshing milkshake. And who doesn't like supporting small, local business? It's a win-win!

Yelp
I can't believe it's Vegan!!! This place tastes even better than a real, red meat burger! Malibu's Burger has garnered a lot of hype in The Town so I just had to try it for myself. The line here usually isn't too long and they're only allowing a few people into the store at one time and do a great job at social distancing. The only thing is there's no where to wait but on the sidewalk so I suggest you walk around the area to pass the time instead of aggregating in front of the storefront. The food was heavenly! I love that everything here is vegan, even the milkshakes which is great for me because I don't like consuming dairy. What I Got: -Ghost Town Burger: Their version of a BBQ Burger and has bacon and onion rings. It's crunchy and flavorful and the sauce isn't too overpowering. I love this burger. -Tasha Grande: I thought it couldn't get better than the Ghost Town burger but this burger is by far the best burger I've ever had! The sauce is tangy, sweet, and a little salty. It's unlike anything I've tasted before. -Hella Hella Tots: Soft tots smothered in a cheese and caramelized onion spread- should I say more. Absolutely great! -Captain Crunch Milk Shake: MY VEGAN MILKSHAKE BRINGS ALL THE BOYS TO THE YARD~ definitely the best milk shake I've had. It was rich and creamy and never melted because there's no ice in it at all, love it! This is a must try in Oakland. Burgers are a bit expensive but the taste is amazing.

Yelp
I have seen the future of fast food and it's not standing in a line at the Shake Shack. Babygirl has never done well with animal protein and her dairy allergy has taken a turn for the worse. But never fear! Plant based eating is good for the body and this place doesn't disappoint. The Malibu Burger, the tots, those amazing $7 milkshakes(worth every cent) feel like hangover food: tasty, rich, filling. Service was fast and friendly. Parking was easy on a Sunday morning. We will be back.
