Malka has been just amazing for us for our engagement ring and wedding bands. They worked with us to incorporate a diamond I had from a family heirloom ring into a new custom ring in a 3-stone configuration and it turned out absolutely stunning. They also helped us pick out the perfect wedding bands and worked with us on resizing multiple times as our fingers and weight fluctuated. We now have absolutely gorgeous, one of a kind rings that are so beautiful and fit perfectly. Thank you Malka (and particularly Chloe) for everything!

We bought my engagement ring at Malka, and were so impressed! They had a beautiful selection of new, custom, and vintage rings. We went there specifically to check out salt and pepper diamonds, and their selection did not disappoint. Ended up getting a beautiful ring- it was resized and ready to go in a couple of days. The staff were all very friendly and helpful without being pushy. Great experience overall!

We first discovered Malka Jewelers back in 2015 when we got engaged. I brought in a diamond, and David and his team set it onto an heirloom band. From that very first experience, I knew this was a jeweler I could trust. Over the years, we’ve returned, purchasing my husband’s wedding band, earrings, and other pieces that have marked important milestones in our lives. Every time, the process has been seamless, personal, and professional. After 9 years of marriage, I decided it was time to upgrade my ring. David helped me source a truly gorgeous diamond and took my original diamond and made a beautiful necklace that I now wear daily. I was so impressed that I brought my mom in the following year, and David completely redesigned her wedding set. What he created for her was nothing short of the ring of her dreams, and watching her reaction when she finally got to put it on was priceless! We purchased our wedding bands from Malka! While we were on a quick trip to Portland, we stopped in and met Ronnie, who helped pick out my and my husband's rings! My engagement ring is an antique, so I'd had a hard time finding the right pairing in the past. Ronnie didn't pressure us at all, and helped me try on several rings in different areas of the store so I could see them with different lighting. She even had the jeweler clean my engagement ring before we left! We ended up emailing Ronnie a few months later and working with her over email to purchase our bands. She was just as patient over email as she was in person, answering all of our questions and making sure we got exactly what we wanted. We are so grateful we stopped in at Malka!

Was a fantastic experience working with the Malka team on getting my engagement ring, wedding band and my husbands band. Both my engagement and his band went through their custom making process. In which they were patient, informative, and efficient. Pricing was not out of the park crazy, it was reasonable and comparable. Over all defiantly recommend them, and we'll be back for any other jewelry needs. They've got a lifetime customer in us!!

Excellent service. I’m a first time client and I was welcomed to bring in something bought from an outside jeweler for a buff and polish. I am astonished! I love this place. It's lovely. The people that work there are lovely. Their jewelry is lovely. I haven't bought anything from them...yet. I have all sorts of pretty sparkly things tumbling around in my head. I took a snap of this gorgeous bracelet that had a bit of a faulty closure. It was purchased for Pride 2023, but the clasp needed some love. The were wonderful. They oohed and aaahed for a moment which made me feel good, then they took straight to the back and fixed It. They brought it back and said "yep, it was loose." I asked how much and they said no charge. I was wowed. This amazing shop fixed my bracelet, that I didn't even buy from them for free.. This is how you lure people back in to buy your beautiful jewelry. These folks are great. They always greet you with a smile and are always so helpful. I'm so glad they live so close to me. Stressful and disappointing experience. One of my best friends said she and her fiancé had a good experience with Malka, so we made an appointment to shop for my engagement ring, my wedding band and my fiancé's wedding band. The woman who helped us barely spoke. She would hand us rings we pointed to. No consulting, no suggestions. The bands I liked were fairly simple and I noticed they were $1k more than another jeweler I had visited with almost the exact same look. I decided I'd get my two rings elsewhere. We saved $2,500 and ended up with even prettier rings. My fiancé really liked a mashup of two rings they had. Again, no consolation as he explained what he liked. The notes were written down. He asked many questions about weight, feel, etc. Our saleswoman couldn't answer any of it. No surprise, when we went to pick up his ring it was totally wrong. Wrong size, width, etc. We had to explain what we wanted (again) and waited another 4 weeks. We finally got the right band with very little time to spare to start over if he didn't like it the second time. Probably fine if you are buying straight from the case and have no questions. For anything custom or if you want service, SKIP.

The staff at Malka are amazing and their inventory of stones is top notch. My partner had a custom ring made with her grandmother's diamonds. They were super helpful through the whole process. I also had a custom opal necklace made for my birthday. David made the process really seamless and helped bring our ideas to life! Cannot recommend Malka enough!

I started reaching out to jewelers about 3-4 weeks before I was hoping to propose to my (at the time) girlfriend in Hawaii. While others responded and showed varying levels of interest, what I mostly heard was a lot of reasons why it was going to be impossible to make it happen in that amount of time. To be fair, it is not a common engagement ring or setting, but there was something about David and how he responded that gave me a really strong feeling that he was going to invest and partner with me to make it happen. As I am up in Seattle, I would normally hesitate to buy something of this magnitude sight unseen, but between the emails, phone calls, and FaceTime calls I was able to quickly get a sense of trust in David and his business practice. Not only did he get it done in time, but the ring was more beautiful that I imagined and completely blew my (now) fiance away. Needless to say, she said yes. I'll never forget the look of surprise and excitement she had when I proposed. Next time I need jewelry, I'll be giving David another call ;-)

Malka is the best! My husband and I were shopping together for my engagement ring 6 years ago and were interested in a vintage diamond. Everyone goes to Love Set Gem or Malloy's but who knew that Malka had vintage rings too! Their selection was the best of all the places we visited. We found the perfect thing there and they stayed open late for us on Christmas eve so they could size the ring and I could take it to surprise my family that evening. They were wonderful through the whole process of selecting, purchasing, appraising, etc. They continue to care for my diamond and recently helped us repair and buff up a family heirloom. The ring came back looking more gorgeous than ever. We look forward to working on custom projects with them in the future too! Their work is beautiful and the personalized service is unmatched. They will forever be the caregivers of my gems! I would highly recommend Malka to anyone looking for a new, vintage, or custom piece of jewelry. I had such an amazing experience with Malka diamonds. I had the pleasure to work with Jennifer, who was absolutely amazing at helping me out with my limited knowledge about rings/diamonds. I went in wanting to see and know more about their Salt and pepper diamonds. I also had the chance to compare the salt and pepper diamonds to the classic traditional diamonds. I ended up loving the salt and pepper diamonds because of the unique inclusions in the diamond. I ended up choosing the Kite salt and pepper diamond and it really feels like I'm wearing a galaxy on my finger. Love the Malka experience, diamonds, customer service, and it's history.

I had such a disappointing experience here. My parter and I made an appointment and were hoping to receive some guidance with our ring search. The women we worked with, Chloe, was rude and unhelpful. She didn't introduce herself (the only reason I know her name is because she sent me an email post appointment) or try to help us narrow down what we wanted. She seemed annoyed that I didn't know exactly what I wanted and clearly had no interest in actually helping us. I am so upset that she ruined what should have been a fun and exciting experience.

David was wonderful to work with!! I first came in when purchasing a celebration ring last year and then returned when my partner and I were shopping for an engagement ring. We had a rough idea of what we wanted and budget, but didn't know much about selecting diamonds. David was happy to educate us and never pressured us on a purchase. He really went above and beyond to come up with options and ideas to help us stay within budget. We couldn't be happier with the experience of designing the ring and how it turned out!

I can not be more happy with my ring. Ronnie had worked with my fiancé for a couple weeks via email on customizing a ring for me. We saw they had a ring on their site similar to the design I liked. He sent in a couple pictures explained everything and the ring turned out better than I could have imagined. Ronnie provided multiple videos of different stones, responded quickly and was super patient. He sent multiple emails (stressed about how it would turn out) and she was working with him every step of the way reassuring him everything would be perfect. And it was! He went in twice, one to go see the mold, and two to pick up the ring, which was extremely nice given we get stressed driving into Portland. They gave a free appraisal, and free ring resizing (which was much needed after realizing I was not the size we thought I was)! We just took it in to get resized and got it back the next day. Malka and Ronnie exceeded both of our expectations and we both couldn't be happier!

Poor customer service- felt judged (we made an appointment but weren't wearing formalwear I guess). Asked for help with choosing ring styles, but they just critiqued my engagement ring and then stood silently until we asked to see specific options. Don't go if you're looking for guidance/support.

Awesome family owned business. Is it the largest collection? Nope, but everything has been curated and what they do have is always tasteful. The quality is there, and the prices are fair based on the quality. They even have a small cabinet with very nice less expensive items when you just need a smaller gift. I trust the owners and that's important when it comes to jewelry. Most of us, after all, aren't expert at evaluating gem quality. But David Malka is a certified gemologist.

Such a good find on Yelp! Claire helped us in the selection & purchase of diamond stud earrings for our daughter. What a beautiful shop with truly lovely diamond settings!

This place is so fabulous. I brought in my absolute favorite ring, I teeny tiny solid rose gold chain ring with black diamonds in it because the chain had broken. They fixed the ring in record time and the entire process was seamless. I will 100% be back for all of my jewelry repairs. Not to mention... they have a beautiful jewelry selection! Antique and new, I could have been in there all day. Thank you Malka Diamonds!!

David and his team are the absolute best. My now-husband went there for my engagement ring and I couldn't be more obsessed. He tells the best story about David walking him through the buying process. We got his ring there, too. Shopping at Malka is no pressure, it's like hanging out with your friend while talking about jewelry. I've since been back for a jewelry repair and he did it flawlessly and so fast. We are life long customers. I love my ring so much I did a photo shoot with it at the Portland Rose Garden!

When my fiancé and I went looking for engagement rings we had Malka in mind; their reviews and website made them feel like the best place to start. When we walked in we were sweetly greeted by a lady putting displays out; there were only three or four cases filled despite them having been open a 1/2 hour. My fiancé and I walked over towards the gentleman standing behind the counter and told him we were looking for engagement rings. Rather than smile or show us selections (see my review on Mary's Jewelry) he coldly asked "Well what are you looking for?" I explained that we had only just started but had looked at a few marquise, cushion and princess cuts. I also mentioned we were looking at a few vintage pieces as well. With a higher-than-thou snark he said "Well, I don't know what yooou consider vintage."....At this point I was already ready to leave, but I told him I was a fan of 1920-40s. His response? "Well you won't find any of thoooose cuts in my rings. My vintage pieces are only European cuts". He walked over, pointed to a display and walked back behind the counter. And Done!. My partner and I looked at each other, nodded and smiled our goodbyes to the friendly lady still putting out displays. Apparently if you don't come here to get a custom ring built, don't bother.

On the recommendation of a friend, I went into Malka Diamonds to talk to David about an engagement ring for my fiancé. I had done my research, knew what diamonds are worth, and what I wanted in general. I intended to make my purchase online because I was so turned off by the prices of shops like Tiffany's. I'm so incredibly thankful that I found Malka. David made a suggestion of how I could take what I wanted and made it better. His team created an amazing ring for us, and the price was extremely competitive. I enjoyed working with him so much we went back to get our wedding rings. Top notch service and quality.

This business is phenomenal. I called and didn't really know where to start but I had a vague idea of what I was looking for. They crushed it with their recommendations and their customer service was seriously the best I've ever had. Can't recommend or speak highly enough about them. Not only does Malka Diamonds have beautiful and customizable high-quality pieces, but I experienced exceptional customer service with management as well. The owner, David, went above and beyond to make things right for me while dealing with a 'situation'. I would highly recommend this place and will be giving them my future business.

A few years ago, I went in to Malka with my late grandmother's wedding ring. I asked if I should adjust, fix, customize or even meltdown and change it before proposing to my now-wife. I was ready to drop a good deal of money on whatever they recommended. The gentleman working (I believe it was David) took one look at the ring, and told me to change nothing. He said the ring was wonderful the way it was. He seemed genuinely more interested in the quality of the ring than my money. Later on, my wife would pick out a beautiful Rose Gold wedding band for me, and we would get pieces resized and cleaned at Malka. We have actually moved out of the area, but commented that we would return to Portland and Malka for our jewelry needs. This is the only Jewelry shop I will go to now.

Amazing! They made exactly what I requested. And I love it! Couldn't be happier. I went to a few other shops in town and I will only be recommending Malka from here on out.

Had a wonderful experience here! Took my ring in to be repaired, cleaned and appraised. The price was fair, the shop was wonderful and the work was completed early, but best of all everyone was friendly, kind and helpful.

I can't tell you how amazing this family is! Not only are they amazing at their work but so trustworthy as well. I dropped off my ring that we had bought years ago from another jewlry store in NYC. They repaired and cleaned the ring. Amazing service and considering what is going on downtown they were convenient and safe. If you need your vintage ring repaired or are looking for a vintage ring, go to them! Amazing!

Malka Diamonds is awesome. Before getting engaged, my wife had given me a family diamond that I needed to buy a ring for and get it set. I first tried another jewelry store down the street that was a little larger - when I walked into that one, I was understandably intimidated as I knew nothing about diamonds or rings and was not made to feel any more comfortable, was ignored at first and then told that it would take 3 weeks to a month to finish the job. I then walked into Malka diamonds the next day and it was the exact opposite. The owner, David, let me in, I told him what I was looking for and within literally 5 minutes we had picked out literally the exact ring that my wife had described. We then sat at his desk, he even put her family diamond in the ring right in front of me to show me what it would tentatively look like and they got the whole thing finished within 3 days. Since then, both my wife and I have been back multiple times for various reasons (fixing a necklace, buying my wedding band, etc.). Every time we go in, they remember us and we now know the rest of his family (wife and daughter) that help run everything. This last time, I brought in my grandfathers wedding band to be resized and David waived the fee since we've been in there so much. If you are as oblivious as I was to this whole process prior to engagement and want a friendly, family run store that won't make you feel intimidated, this is your place.

For years my husband and I have talked about resetting my diamond wedding ring. I knew I wanted something that looked more vintage than my "swoopy" 90's ring, and after looking around online, I thought Malka Diamonds would be the place to start. We were welcomed in and everyone was very kind. Chloe looked at my ring, asked me some very thoughtful questions, and asked me if anything in the store had the right look and feel for my ring. As I looked around, I was skeptical, but in the very last case, there it was! A beautiful new vintage-look ring. Chloe helped me see how my current diamonds would work on it, and we left it in Malka Diamond's capable hands. We picked it up this afternoon, and it is even more beautiful than I could have imagined. I love my ring so much! I am happy to be wearing something that is much more "me". From beginning to end, Chloe and everyone at Malka Diamonds were wonderful to work with. Thank you! As always, this team has the most incredible customer service. I don't have a ton of jewelry and it's not large carat by any means. But whenever I need a repair, they treat me like I've walked in dripping with diamonds. Thanks so much Malka!

I'm a huge fan of Malka. I came here to see if they could help me make a custom engagement ring for my to-be wife. I worked with Tessa to make a ring my wife ended up loving. Tessa was gracious enough to work with me and all my design revisions and they even sourced a gem they don't normally carry. We also came back here for my wife's wedding band - they did a great job designing a band that paired great with the engagement ring. Also, David is awesome. He resized my ring (twice) that I didn't even buy from them, for free! All around great family business. Go here and support your local jewelry shop. Highly recommended.

My wife gave me a wonderful present for our Yuletide exchange of gifts. I hadn't been able to wear my my wedding ring (I'm quite a bit bigger than I was 12 1/12 years ago when we married), and the last time i'd tried to wear my engagement ring, I had to cut it off with wire cutters! (Talk about traumatic!) So I researched jewelers and we decided to go to Malka. What a great choice! My wedding ring is a custom-made, white gold ring that is three vines wound together in a more-or-less knotwork pattern. They told us, as we expected, that they wouldn't be able to duplicate the pattern in the extra gold needed to expand the ring. No problem. But then! But then! But then, because the ring took longer than they had hoped (I suspect a rash of Christmas engagements. :) ), they took extra time to make the extra white gold as beautifully close to the original pattern as possible. Not only that, they made the gold of the ring as silver as possible (I assume this means more rhodium), and gave it a mirror shine. My engagement ring is perfectly repaired and sized, and the sapphire and diamonds in it are shined beautifully. Not only that, Tessa remembered my wife when she came in, remembered that my rings were also a birthday present, and showed my wife all the detail that Malka had put into the ring. I am over the moon and will never go anywhere else in Portland for repair, sizing, or a beautiful diamond!

I've spent two months looking for an engagement ring for my now fiancée. A lot of research went into looking for the ring, such as the 4 C's, and GIA certifications. I checked the online stores, the big mall jewelry stores and a few small independent stores. Based on the research I've done, there are two common themes. 1. The average guy don't know squat about buying diamonds. 2. The big mall jewelry stores know that guys don't know anything about diamonds and will sucker you into buying a low grade non certified diamond at an outrageous price (at least 25% higher than it should be). That's why I went to Malka Diamonds and Jewelry. I was on my way to lunch and decided to stop by at the store to see what they had to offer. The sales lady was very nice and showed me a few settings. After a few minutes, I told her I wanted to get a diamond first before getting a setting and she brought in David (who happens to be a GIA graduate). He asked me what my budget was, and what kind of diamond I was looking for. He brought out a few diamonds that he had that fit my criteria and told me how much the diamonds were. I left telling him I would think about it and gave me his business card. After the weekend, I called David and told him I wanted to go ahead and purchase the diamond and I would be in to find a setting. I came in the next day and spent about 40 minutes looking at settings. David was very patient with me as I was checking out the settings. After checking out a dozen settings, I found the setting that I envisioned. David asked when I wanted to pick it up and told him at the end of the week. He was able to deliver the ring on time. The ring that I had visualized in my head became a reality, and under budget! David gave me the GIA certification and the appraisal form should I need to have it insured. The ring comes with free cleaning, no mounting charge, and free repair if something needs to be fixed. It was a very positive and rewarding experience, and working with David was a breeze. The ring now is on my fiancée's finger and is now blinding me every time the light shines on it. I knew right then I got a great diamond. So guys, if you are looking for an engagement ring, do your research, settle on a budget and then go to Malka Diamonds and Jewelry.

This was one of the places I chose to go ring shopping due to the yelp reviews. We told the guy with the mustache what we were looking for and he was not willing to show us any diamonds in his rolodex. He didn't even attempt to try to show us anything and gave up too fast. It wasn't a great experience but they were apologetic about it, so hence, the three stars.

The only place to go for your jeweler needs is Malka Diamonds & Jewelry. I came to Malkas by way of referral because I was looking for a jeweler who could customize an engagement ring out of raw gold mined on my girlfriend (now wife) family's property. Once I met David I knew I found the right jeweler. He led me through the design process over the course of 2 months, meticulously changing the design to fit every small detail I requested. His attention to detail and care made the perfect ring. David and Ronnie Malka are salt of the earth people who care not just about the product but also about their customer's happiness. 5 Stars for Malka Diamonds & Jewelry!

Just picked up a jewelry repair from Malka Diamonds - and am always amazed at the level of customer service and superb quality..whether I'm visiting for a small repair, or shopping for something important. The Malkas have become my "go to" jeweler! I've also referred them to some VERY discerning (yes, picky) friends in the Bay Area, all of whom have loved working with the Malkas for important engagement rings. Most of all, I trust them immensely to deliver quality. Highly recommend.

Buyer beware. If you're just thinking about getting a ring. Don't come here. They have excellent customer service, phenomenal prices, and a selection that puts other jewelers to shame. I was just in town "looking" at rings while I was on a short vacation. After coming here, I stopped looking and pulled the trigger. David is not only a great jeweler he's a great guy and I'm proud to say I picked out an engagement ring that nearly gave my fiancé the heart attach she rightly deserves. If you're on the fence about getting a ring, check out Malka, it'll get you off the fence and on your knee in about 35 minutes. Highly recommend Malka Diamonds!! I came here to get my diamond ring cleaned a few days before my wedding and they polished & cleaned it for free even though I didn't purchase my ring here! The service was great, highly recommend.

From the start of my daunting search for the perfect engagement ring, Dave and Tessa at Malka diamonds were helpful, informative and incredibly knowledgable. Tessa's sympathetic ear combined with Davids hard, cold facts form the perfect combination for a relatively green diamond shopper like myself. Despite short timescales and some slightly challenging international banking hurdles, Malka achieved for me in every conceivable way and I was able to propose seconds before we signed our marriage license. I am NOT a avid online reviewer but feel these experts deserve the praise! S

I wandered into Malka a few weeks ago looking for a simple setting for my engagement ring that added a little bling to my smallish diamond. Tessa and David at Malka were a total dream to work with. When we determined that nothing in the shop was quite what I was looking for, Tessa helped me design and price out a custom setting. I showed her pictures of what I liked, and she just got it. She had great suggestions and was able to help me figure out what I didn't like about my current setting. She gave me a bunch of options for a head for my setting that I liked even better than the pricey ring I had been pining over (hazeline ring from Anna Sheffield). When I got my ring, all the little details were as we had discussed. Tessa and David were really communicative during the ring fabrication and made sure my ring was ready in time for Thanksgiving. The setting was very affordable (less than half of what I had been quoted elsewhere), and I was charged what I had been quoted. Best of all, the store was unpretentious and didn't make me feel bad even though I wasn't spending a ton of money. I would definitely return!

Malka Diamonds was recommended to me by my MIL, who raves about their service! This is the second time I've brought my ring (purchased from an online retailer) in to Malka to tighten the prongs. The first time was an easy fix I guess and they did it right there in a matter of minutes and didn't even charge me for it! The second time (because I dropped something heavy on the ring which loosened the diamond prematurely) I brought it in, it required a bit more time. I'm a diamond newbie and was hesitant to leave my ring for a few hours (being a paranoid worrywart), but at my request they verified my ring and stone description at drop off and GIA inscription on the stone at pick up, while maintaining a friendly and professional attitude :) They also cleaned and polished it, including the band! This time it cost $30, which seems fair. I will be back for any other repairs in the future and will feel confident leaving my ring with Malka from now on!

These people really bummed me out today. I called last week to make an appointment for an appraisal. I was told it would cost $90 and could be done while I waited if I allotted 30-45 minutes. Today, I showed up for my appointment at 1PM. When I asked how long it might take him, so I could go eat, the gentleman (owner?) said, "Maybe if I scarf down my lunch I could get it done. Or you can leave it overnight." Then he said, "Do you want to pay for an actual appraisal, or just tell you what I think?" I indicated that I wanted to pay, per our previous conversation. He proceeded to insult my ring, take a cursory look at a previous appraisal and in a surly voice say, "I can tell you right now I'm not going to grade this clarity as good as he did." He laid the ring on the counter and said, "What do you want me to do?" What I want you to do is treat me with respect. It was clear he wasn't interested in doing an appraisal. I wish he would have steered me to another jeweler, before I requested two hours off work and took a Max and a bus to get to him. Looks like he's got lots of good reviews. Maybe if you walk in with a fistful of cash he will talk to you in a respectful tone.

Came in to check out different platinum settings. I think the lady who helped us was named Chloe. She was excellent and very friendly. She didn't give me the pushy salesperson vibe. She answered all of my questions and patiently showed me ring after ring after ring. I visited other stores around the block and Malka sets the standard.

This is a long over do review. I love this place. I was not only recommended to them but saw their reviews. I told them from the start I had a real challenge for them. I wanted them to help me design my 25th Anniversary ring. I wanted my original diamonds and I wanted 2 tone. They said first thing first. They needed lots of pictures to get an idea what I liked and they wanted to know what diamonds in my ring met the most. After getting that all put together. They sent me a sketch and we built it from there. At first I was kind of leery of what it would look like because they couldn't show me a wax. Because it was in 6 pieces and you couldn't get a true look at what it looked like. So they said trust them. If I didn't like it they would surely help me make me happy. When it was done I told my husband to look at first because if he didn't like it I for sure wouldn't like it. Well let's just say it turned out way better then we both expected it to. I couldn't of asked for a better result and the jeweler who put it together was so happy to not only get the pleasure to work on it but also to see my face was the best reward he said.

I needed to have an heirloom ring appraised and I was so worried about finding a place that would be reputable. I had heard horror stories of places switching out real diamons for fake, and of people under-valuing the jewelry. I wasn't looking to sell, only get an appraisal for insurance. I am so happy I went here. The reviews were good, no complaints listed with the better business bureau and they were so professional. They loved the ring when I went in and were telling me about how gorgeous it is. It is my great-grandmother's engagement ring and so there is a lot of history there. I felt like they understood that and took care to ask me what I wanted as far as cleaning, explaining how different levels of cleaning could change the look. I got the appraisal and I feel very confident that they did not under-value it. I definitely will be back here for my future jewelry needs.

more than a year later, the little things that they got wrong on my ring continue to bother me. It's a little disappointing to know that they didn't follow the provided sketch, and did their own thing instead of what I asked when I provided feedback to the wax. If they hadn't done that, I think I would be much happier. I would still recommend them, but with reservations. 3 stars isn't high enough for the quality/price/overall service. but 4 seems too high considering that I can only look at my ring from the aerial view without feeling sad. please consider this one a 3.5-3.75 star review...they used the (uncommon) metal I wanted, worked with our very short time frame, were fine with using a stone I'd sourced...it's really just the one relatively small thing that chafes bc I expressed my dissatisfaction with the wax before it was made, and it wasn't fixed in the final piece.

After several months of home improvement projects, my wedding ring was in terrible shape. I brought it to Malka to see if it could be cleaned, repaired and replated. The level of knowledge they possess is evident and I received enough information to know how much investment was needed. I never felt pressured and all conversations with Chloe and David were pleasant and helpful as they educated me on the options. I picked up my ring yesterday and was absolutely gobsmacked. It was like seeing it for the first time. Their artistry went *so far beyond* what I expected. The ring is now revived and the engraving restored; honestly I think it is better than ever. What craftsmanship and service.....five stars!

I am really glad to see Malka get all of these good reviews - they deserve them. My fiancee and I purchased my wedding band here after looking at many stores for men's jewelry, and after searching many more jewelry stores for a vintage or new setting for my fiancee's diamond, ended up buying her ring there also. We ended up with a perfect new ring for me, and an even more perfect 1920's setting for my fiancees diamond. The did a great job setting the stone and we felt the prices were more than fair. The end results speak for themselves. The shop will not pressure you into anything, they want you to get the right piece. There are several good jewelry stores in Portland, and Malka ranks among the best. Will be back for sure.

I was looking for a particular style of engagement ring and while other jewelers tried to sell me something else or talk me out of a vintage style ring, Ronnie patiently listened to my story, looked at the photos I brought with me and took me through their entire vintage selection. When I hesitated with about 5 different types, we looked at some more. It was refreshing to go from a place that tried to sell you on a PARTICULAR style or type of ring and have someone look through everything with you. It was obvious she cared for the jewelry she had in the store, and in the end, I picked a beautiful art deco ring. I was conversing with a jewelry expert who was looking out for ME and my (hopefully!) future fiancee, not someone who wanted to sell a piece of jewelry to someone. David had my ring ready to go at the time of pick-up and gave me detailed insight into the history of my selection. I will be going back to Malka to select a wedding band - fingers crossed!
