Los Angeles Pop-Up Phenom, Malli, Is Coming to San Francisco and Oakland | Eater SF

"Started at the onset of the pandemic by Elizabeth Heitner and later joined by Nestor Silva, I followed their Malli pop-up as it grew into a Mexican- and Jewish‑inspired project that became one of Los Angeles’s favorite pop‑ups and recently toured New York. They launched with Mexican chocolate babka alongside their signature pastrami taco—an item that earned a 'wow' when chef Jeremy Fox ordered it—and have evolved from making dishes that were clearly Mexican or Jewish into flavor-driven concepts and techniques. The pair will take over Bay Area kitchens for events on Oct. 16, 18 and 20, and their work has benefited from help arranging pop-ups from Silva’s brother Esteban." - Paolo Bicchieri

If I could I would give this pop up spot a 100 star rating. A big trmendous shout out to Mr.Silva Nestor he's an amazing chef. Thank you for all the delicious food. Nestor goes far and beyond master chef of the year. My wife and I loved this pop up and definitely not our last time here. I will Highly recommend this restaurant to family and friends. My wife and I give you guys an above and beyond customer service rating as well. The waitress was polite and professional. The environment was calm as everyone was collective and peacefully enjoying their delovious meals. Thank You! đź’Ż

Virgil Village has it’s fair share of awesome spots to eat, but Malli’s residency at Melody Wine Bar needs to on your rotation. The menu is approachable while also being as unique as anything in LA. Tacos and tostadas were insane, and both the tomato salad and the guacamole were two of my favorite things I have eaten all year. Desserts were paletas (stonefruit tajin + coconut chocolate) and I had to restrain myself from ordering more for the road home. The staff was stellar and everything came out perfectly portioned and coursed. Date spot, birthday spot, solo dining adventure spot. Take the people you love to Malli, and they (& you) will never be the same!!

Hands down some of the best food in LA at a wonderful natural wine bar. Every single thing on the Malli menus is must eat.

Yelp
The food was very good! Great flavors. Each dish was unique. We had several. The whitefish was especially delicious. The servings were quite small for the price and the service was very slow. Had the posted online menu reflected the actual menu and pricing, I would not have driven cross town with a family and hungry teen-agers. We skipped the $45 pastrami tostada. Quail was basically fried chicken - tasty but no need. We left feeling empty - in belly and wallet.
