Malmaison Belfast

To be honest I never new Malmaison existed until today when we had a group lunch today. The place is very nice and staff are also helpful. Although the turkey and whatever, it sat on wasn't to my taste and the cranberry sauce was placed ontop and is something I avoid. It would have been better on the side as I would normally expect. Such a shame as it could have been so much better. However, the vegetables and roasting Potatoes were great.

My husband booked the malmaison for a last minute stay for my birthday due to Storm Amy ruining our travel plans. We had a wonderful time at the hotel. We were given a free upgraded room given from Standard Room to a Club Room, which was absolutely gorgeous, spacious and had everything we could need. Hotel is well located in city centre, short walk to Victoria Square. The Nepresso machine was a nice touch to the room and the bed was very comfortable. Hotel was nice, cosy and toasty. Staff were fantastic, receptionist gave us free cocktail vouchers due to our room not being ready, 5 minutes later she gave us our room key in the bar. The Brambles were delicious. There was a mistake in the restaurant were someone ordered wrong beer and staff kindly offered them to us for free with peanuts too. We will definitely be returning to this gem of a hotel for our next visit to The Big Smoke. Thankyou for everything.

Booked the hotel on the grounds of its name and location.We booked standard rooms, these being comfortable and clean in the sleeping areas( not so good in the bathrooms).Rooms were quite noisy at night from the generators. The main issues with the rooms were attention to detail, lack of toilet roll, only one towel,no water in the fridge,no restocking of teas and coffee and cups. Over the 3 days the room was attended to on 1 occasion. The bar was lovely and reasonably priced, Shelby the bar manager was a delight and a real asset to the hotel making the stay a positive. Sunday lunch was a joy, the sirloin roast top notch.Service excellent and price was good value. Would I stay again, Yes.Cist in taxi to the airport £10, location of bars and restaurants 4min walk.

Surface this hotel is lovely. And if you can look past the aging of the property its a lovely stay stay. I think its due for renovation and this easily could have been 4.5 or 5 stars. Service lacks slightly on reception seems to only have 1 person on sometimes meaning queues. Breakfast was lush.

Visited in September for three nights. What a great hotel, staff were lovely. We had pre booked a two course meal but because they were changing the menu, a lot of the choices were not available. Our waitress was so apologetic and told us to order what we wanted off the a La carte. As if that wasn’t enough, she came into the bar later on her way home, apologised once again, saying “ that just wasn’t good enough” and treated us to a complimentary drink. |The hotel itself is beautiful but what really makes it are the incredible staff who simply can’t do enough for guests, they are an absolute credit to the hotel.

Lovely hotel, super super pet friendly, friendly staff, great breakfast and overall a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend it but just turn the heating in the rooms down a touch!. Andy B

We recently stayed in the Malmaison ‘Samson Suite’||For the price of the suite I would expect a lot more. This was a once of treat to ourselves and I wouldn’t return to this hotel. The suite is extremely dated & could be so much more considering the price. Photos attached of areas in the room that need improvement. We didn’t bring it up with hotel staff as our stay was over at this stage & realistically it is upto the management & owners to really tighten up on cleaning staff & work needing done. |Breakfast however was outstanding & the girl taking our order was so so pleasant. We left disappointed but well fed.

My partner and I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Malmaison Belfast. The staff were exceptionally accommodating, consistently delivering service of the highest standard, and their warm and attentive approach truly made our visit memorable. Our room was spacious, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully equipped with all the necessary amenities to ensure comfort. The breakfast selection was both extensive and of excellent quality, offering something for every taste. We would be delighted to recommend Malmaison Belfast to others and look forward to staying here again in the future.

Great experience with our stay. Service was friendly and welcoming. When we checked into our first room it was right above the bar and there was a musician and it was suuuuper loud (literally felt like the music was being played in our room) so we went downstairs to see if we could have another one. The only other room they had was a junior suite (literally the room was named Goliath, my first stay in a room with a name instead of a number) and they upgraded us. It was SOOOOO nice and massive and beautiful. Only complaint is the room was dark AF with terrible lighting but it added to the medieval vibe I guess. Breakfast was fairly limited in options but good since we were in a rush.

It was £175 for an ok room for one night for 2: yip £175 yet breakfast was not included. There was a bit of irritation as check-in only began beyond 4pm, rather than 3pm when it should have commenced. Mal-administration perhaps? It came over as amateur but at £175 for an ok room for a night, amateur, delay and ineptitude have no place at this price. When we got to the room it was also irritating that the electronic access card didn't work. The dimly lit room was cosy warm with a comfy bed. In - room tea/coffee/kettle and a well stocked fridge were tucked into the wardrobe. Our room had one of the smallest showers I've ever been in, at about an ungenerous two feet wide. Having overcome check - in and delayed room entry malfunctions we headed down to a cramped bar area for wedding related refreshments. The coffee was lukewarm and watery. The tea was also poor tasting as the water wasn't hot enough. Tea leaves need fresh water just off the boil to maximise flavours. The tea and coffee were good quality but quality alone sometimes isn't enough. If you don't do it right then quality is wasted as was the case here. Not upscale more amateurism or laziness or perhaps the daft excuse: health & safety? The amuse-bouche were plentiful and served with smiles. They ranged in quality with my preferences in order being duck rillettes 10/10, salmon toast 9/10, goat cheese tartlet 5/10 as the pastry wasn't made with butter and they were dry through overcooking (or heating & reheating) and breadcrumbed mini fishcakes 3/10 made with cheap, pre frozen, pink salmon, little or no butter, no fresh herbs and an overpowering fishy taste. It was poor that the dip with the fishy fishcake was from a jar of mayonnaise: a cheap shortcut I didn't expect from a hotel positioning itself as upscale so yet evidence of style over substance. When I asked the server what fish was in the 'cake' she didn't know. It was also plain from her "I don't know' that she didn't much care either: maybe amateurism - you gotta walk the talk folks but if the server is on minimum wages I couldn't be critical of her malcontent malfunction. The wedding meal itself was pretty good for the most part, but not great. I had St Maure goat cheese with various salad leaves, sliced blood orange & pistachios to begin. My beef brisket main was very good and 7/10. It had great flavour served with a lightly fried perfect egg 10/10. I finished with what was alleged to be an artisan cheese plate. This was quite poor quality so 2/10. Maybe a Malfunction. Rather than artisan I got industrially made, mostly low grade cheeses, and none had any powerful cheese flavour. The worst thing of all about this was that this non-artisan cheese plate was served warm from the kitchen. So the hard cheeses sweated and the pasteurised Brie style cheese, that had already begun to sag when it reached the table, sank within a few moments into an unpleasant rind-topped oily cheese puddle. Later in the evening we were treated to delicious mini slider burgers that were ace 10/10 and barbecue style spicy chicken wings 6/10. I didn't try the bacon mini muffins or the chips. All cocktail drinks were exorbitantly priced. The dining room had about 80 wedding guests and was overfilled at that, to a point that was uncomfortable. There's another irritation to note. The in-room shower gel & shampoo tubes are labelled the best that you can steal. We've already paid for them so if we decide to take them and throw them in the bin that's our business and it certainly isn't theft. We could discuss daylight robbery style theft with Malmaison. So is it a wedding venue; certainly not for more than 50 in our view. Would we return here; well maybe but not anytime soon as we can stay for 3 nights half board in May in Malaga for less than £175. Our hotel there is right by the Mediterranean. I observed a fellow guest at check-in as we checked out. She was trying to pay for something. She tendered a paper £10 Bank of England note. She was told it could not be accepted. An upscale place would have been discreet rather than broadcast this non transaction for us to hear. More malfunction and maladministration. I imagine had she handed this £10 over as a tip it would have been a whole other story. Maybe he doesn't realise that customers make pay days. When a business in the service industry is charging £175 a night room only, £9 for a small glass of wine and upwards of £12 for badly mixed cocktails I expect every single aspect of customer delivery to be flawless. This consistently wasn't the case here.

I've eaten in Malmaison once many years ago (nice but not outstanding) and have visited on a few occasions for drinks, most recently last night on Sunday 1 May 2016. It's not a place that tops my list and we only popped in yesterday after attending a Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival event at nearby Custom House Square since we thought Malmaison convenient for a couple of drinks before ordering taxis home. Malmaison Malbar is dark and decorated in monochromatic black and grey. There's a luxurious atmosphere and lots of extremely comfortable armchairs and sofas to lounge in. Table service is available which I always appreciate, especially last night after standing on my feet at a music concert for a couple of hours. It was lovely to just take a seat and have a waitress fetch our drinks from the bar. We opted for a couple of cocktails. First choosing two whiskey and cherry Tawny Manhattans (£9 each and VERY strong) then opting for a Painkiller which was a twist on a Pina Colada (£9) and a pineapple based Zombie Rum Punch (£9.50). Said cocktails were strong, delicious and well made, however I thought them overpriced with all on the menu ranging from £9 to £12.50. Malbar offer cocktails for £5 between 5pm and 8pm from Wednesday to Friday which is much more reasonable. Not a bar I would rush back to as it definitely has a bit of a boring 'hotel bar ambience' about it, albeit a luxury one. However Malmaison's nice for the occasional drink and a refreshing change from the norm. Good overall but I would definitely recommend availing of any deals or offers available as it is expensive.

It was Christmas Eve and all through Belfast, not a restaurant was open, not even a McDonald's. Christmas poems aside, literally nothing was open. Even the few hotels near the place we were staying at were either open to non-guests or open at all. We were getting desperate. Would we have to eat our shoes? We stumbled upon the restaurant at Malmaison, who happened to be open and could fit us in. Thank you Santa Claus. Malmaison was an excellent dining experience. They have a great dining room and we were very, very well taken care of by the staff from start to finish. We started off with cocktails then dinner. 2 of us got the 3-course prix fixe dinner and I got just an entree. Huge kudos to them for not making me order of the prix fixe menu. Restaurants often like to hold tables hostage with this stuff - all or nothing!! Not Malmaison. I got the NY strip with truffle fries, bearnaise sauce and café de Paris butter. It was all super fantastic. They brought my entree when the 3-course crowd at my table was having their mains. Very nice of them. Desserts were excellent, too. You really can't go wrong at this place. The restaurant here is much more than a hotel restaurant. I highly recommend it if you are in the area and are looking for a really good dinner.

The best Sunday lunch I've had a very long time! Malmaison do a 3 course Sunday lunch for £21.95 but we used a treat ticket voucher that cost £15pp. Booking is essential for this. The menu is impressive - you have a selection of starters from the chefs table AND soup then you choose either brunch(4 options) or mains(7options) and dessert on top of that again. The quality was seriously stunning for the price. The starter selection was overwhelming and there was a chef on-hand to help serve and recommend the dishes. I opted for a selection of cheese and crackers, bread and olives and my friend went for some salads and pastry items. For mains I wanted to go for something a little lighter and the trout with pea puree was outstanding. I would have paid the £21.95 for that alone. I was seriously tempted to go for a brunch option though as the blueberry pancakes sounded seriously tempting. My friend chose the roast beef for her main and it looked cooked to perfection. Desserts were totally uncalled for after the previous courses but I really couldn't resist trying the hot chocolate cup - ice cream, fresh cream, marshmallows with hot chocolate sauce poured by our waiter. The staff were polite, professional and approachable and the restaurant was immaculate. It was truly decadent for 1pm on a Sunday afternoon and I'm sure I'll be back again very soon to try those pancakes.

Very nice hotel. Friendly staff. And that's where it ends. This is an expensive hotel...over $300 per night. They have no air conditioning!!!! I understand, it's in Belfast. Heat is more important. But in the summer, it's hot. And it's hotter inside the hotel room than it is outside! Who can sleep when they're sweating! For $300 p/night, I expect climate control! We had a small fan we put on the desk. Didn't do the trick though. So we opened all the windows. That worked a little bit, but then we were infested, yes infested, with flies. It was such a terrible experience! It might be nice in the winter, but they should be charged with robbery for costing me over $300 per night for those kind of living conditions. Never ever again will I stay there.

A great centrally located hotel in Belfast. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room was cozy, not too large nor not to small, just enough space for the two night stay I had here. The city walking market is just across the road, for great dining opportunities as well as shopping and snacks Close to the Belfast SSE arena and Titanic Museum (both in a healthy walking distance) The desk staff were friendly and accommodating when it came to the queries I had (which were quite a few) I never felt rushed when I stopped by. When stopping through Belfast an excellent choice for a historic hotel full of charm in a great location

We absolutely loved Malmaison Brasserie, everything about it oozed class, from the service to the food. This is a real fine dining experience in an intimate setting perfect for couples wanting to spoil themselves. We actually ended up at Malmaison as we purchased a voucher that allowed us to pick £50 worth of food for £25. On paper it was a deal too good to refuse and that's just the way it turned out in real life. When we entered Malmaison we were greeted by a charming waiter who introduced himself and explained he'd be happy to help with anything we needed. This wasn't just vacant customer service - he genuinely seemed keen to chat with us at any opportunity and ensure everything was to our liking. The menu itself is seafood based although there is a choice of Burgers and Steaks. For starters we choose olives, breads and a battered seafood platter which included calamari, king prawns and aborigines. It was a perfect prelude to the main. For main I went for 'Cod Roast' which was pan fried cod, served on potatoes with chorizo and mussels. It was perfect, cod is often a bland fish but the mussel and chorizo vinaigrette really livened it up. I was delighted with my choice and I cleaned the plate to show my appreciation. Considering the opulence of Malmaison I was surprised that my main was only £16. It was a fantastic evening spent it perfect surrounding. I would recommend the Malmaison to anyone looking for a wee treat or wanting to impress that special someone.

This is a superb hotel. It is a true boutique hotel and has some excellent decour. My wife and two daughters dined here last night and had an amazing meal. Full details of my 1000th review can be found on my blog. Girls had pasta, chicken goujons chips, I had scallops then venison, wife had tempura then veggie burger. Absolutely amazing!!!

We stayed just one night at the Malmaison at the start of our vacation. Great spot, great room. On the morning of our departure, I was informed by our car rental company that our car had been mysteriously canceled (Europcar - AVOID!), despite the fact that I got an automated email from them that very morning!! A lovely woman (so sorry I did not get her name!) at the front desk spent an hour calling around while also checking online until she found us a replacement rental. She was so sweet and calm, and just what I needed in my extremely dismayed and anxious state. Thank you, Malmaison, for a great stay, and even greater assistance!

The first thing that struck me about this hotel was the sheer genius of converting an old warehouse into a very modern and contemporary hotel. The outside is in-keeping with old periodic features whilst inside is absolutely stunning and in my opinion one of the most contemporary decors in Belfast. Malmaison offers three luxury suites for guests staying including a romantic love suite, for all you guys trying to get back in the good books with your missus, and a cleverly named Samson and Goliath Suite after the cranes that built the Titanic. The Samson and Goliath Suite boast a power shower for two a huge 9 foot bed, iPod speakers, flat screen TV and a free standing bath-tub. However it is the love suite which really stood out for me, from £195 per night, you get to enjoy champagne on ice, chocolate dipped strawberries, aromatic oils, a romantic CD and not forgetting, that all important champagne breakfast in your room. Now if this doesn't score points with your missus then I don't know what will.

Visited the bar on Saturday afternoon for a few cocktails. The mixologist was very knowledgable, confident and accommodating and even gave me some suggestions on improving my choice based on what I had told him. The result was one of the best cocktails I have had and a new favourite. Bar area is comfortable and ambient. Waiting staff very attentive and quick. Will definitely be back. Loved it.

We went to the Malmasion last night for a wee weeknight date night and we were so impressed with the food, service and décor. The Malmasion wouldn't be somewhere I would think of going for dinner but we will definitely be back. When we arrived we were immediately greeted by a waiter called Aaron and he looked after us all night. He had a great knowledge about the history of the hotel and of other Malmasion hotels - he really provided a five star service. The Malmasion hotel is gorgeous and restaurant itself is perfectly decorated. For starters we ordered olives, breads and a seafood platter which included calamari, king prawns and aborigines. It was delicious. For main I went for the Risotto and it was lovely! I also ordered a wee cosmopolitan which was amazing! A full five stars for the Malmasion!

This was by far the best restaurant we went to in Belfast. We were a couple of minutes early, hence given a menu and asked to wait in the lobby until they opened at 6pm. The decor is fabulous, and we had the best service here. We started with the game terrine, and it was ok. Neither of us knew what to expect, but still ate most of it and it wasn't bad. Terrine is not my thing, but I'll try anything twice. For our mains we had the lamb shank and the pork. Both were exceptional, and the side of roasted root vegetables was amazing. Our dessert was a selection from the cheese trolley, and we were not let down. My only regret is that we didn't stay in the hotel, which looked as divine as the food tasted.

You can't beat Malmaison for a fancy occasion. There rooms are superb, and edgy which is a nice change from standards hotel rooms and they do some great overnight/dinner deals too. The Sunday Stopover is a particular favourite of mine, which covers dinner, drinks and a room if you're staying on a Sunday night. They also have a really nice upstairs space above the bar which you can hire for parties. It's a really intimate location, perfect for about 20 - 30 people and the staff are really helpful in tailoring the night to you and your needs.

My wife and I stayed here last week and had an amazing time. The hotel staff were friendly engaging and extremely helpful in making our time in Belfast worthwhile. Their recommendations and insights on restaurants, pubs and the best ways to get around made all the difference. Big thank you to Allison, Holly, and the other guest service agents working the front desk last week and into the weekend. They are all extremely professional, positive and welcoming. I also would like to thank the management of the hotel for running a first class operation.

We stayed here for our wedding night. I would like to say that they made it special for us. Nothing. Nada. Zip. I know in this day and age you can't expect miracles, but I would have at least hoped for a complimentary bottle of cheap champers or chocolates on the pillows, or - God Forbid, a room upgrade. Nope. Once we got over that disappointment - because let's be fair it's your wedding night and you should be happy anyway, we got used to the place. It's very stylishly decorated and plush - apparently Kylie stays here when she comes to Belfast, and there are lovely toiletries in the bathroom, but that's about it. I didn't see why so many people enthuse about it. It was clean and there were all the mod cons you might need, but what it lacked was air conditioning and it was very muggy weather when we stayed there. I feel all hotel rooms should have air con - regardless of what city they are in. The breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and my poached eggs were good. I think if I had just had one 'ickle' free chocolate on my pillow I would have left more content.

I enjoyed every aspect of my superb meal at Malmaison Belfast and the restaurant itself. You enter the dining room via the hotels foyer through large doors reminiscent of a grand hall in some olden days movie and are met by a very classy yet understated marine-style room. It might have just been due to it being Friday evening but the modern playlist of chilled deep house and ambient music being played throughout was brilliant and really put me in a good mood for my evening. They have big old oyster jars lining the high-walled floor of the restaurant and the decor really adds to the feel of the place. The tables are all brushed steel and are separated in middle of the room by a wall that provides some form of privacy for diners that I really like. The restaurant was busy as it was a Friday evening of a bank holiday weekend but we had no problems with timings or our orders were prompt while not too prompt so as you felt they just wanted you in and out again. Malmaison's brasserie maître d' was an incredibly pleasant man who was very attentive and full of chat and the waitresses too were polite and smiley. Cocktails on the menu were also sampled and the bar men in the bar of the hotel certainly know what they are doing...! I had an extra hot Bloody Mary and several Spicy Paloma's that were fantastic and I sipped some Cosmopolitan too that was also delicious. However, when going for a nice dinner the food really is the main point and this, thankfully, was the best part of my experience. I had scallops with roasted chorizo and puréed spinach followed by Black Angus steak with peppered sauce and truffle mash and both were quite simply outstanding and cooked to utter perfection. To end I had a selection of sorbets (lemon, cassis and chocolate) and tried my partner in crime's Mal hot chocolate that was also excellent. After some more cocktails and no hassling from the staff we got the bill served to us in a leather binder that said "the damages" on it which also made me laugh but it was right...! The bill was expensive but due to the quality and my entire experience, I wouldn't even say that was a bad point. My only slight negative of the night was that my steak came sliced already. So, for a truly brilliant experience topped off with stunning food, Malmaison has to be in the top 3 restaurants I have been to in Belfast.

We stayed here on 23rd December on a pre-pay deal on the Mal website. I was happy with £49 room only as I have always wanted to stay here and could never justify £100+ to stay a few miles down the road. The bedroom was small, but very well decorated and the bathroom was gorgeous, decorated in black and white. The stuff: (toiletries) were amazing as usual, bigger than usual bottles with they encourage you to take. I had to go to reception to get a moisturiser though, we only had shampoo, conditioner and body wash in our room. I also borrowed a dvd when I was down there, the rooms have dvd players and you can borrow free dvds from reception. The worst thing about the room was the bed, it was rock hard. I like a firm mattress, but I felt like I was sleeping on the floor. And the pillows didn't seem to give much support, I felt like my head was just lying on the mattress. The staff were really friendly and did their best to answer queries. I would recommend this hotel for it's central location and decor (if you like boutique hotels, some people refer to it as the Adams family hotel due to the dark decor). However I found the bar prices a wee bit steep and the rooms don't have nice views. There is a small gym, but no pool, sauna, etc.

We had the deal, known as "The Biggest Sunday Lunch in Town" which is a four-course menu and includes: soup, a selection of unlimited hors d'oeuvres, a main course and dessert. For starters we had potato and leek soup, which was quite peppery- it suited me as I pile black pepper on everything, but maybe a little spicey for non black pepper lovers. Then it was up to the chef's table for the unlimited hors d'oeuvres. On offer was Caesar, Caprese, Greek & fresh salads; hams and chorizo; pâtés and terrines; breads, cheeses and chutneys! For me, this was the highlight. The selection was great and we could have gone up a few times, if it weren't for the two other courses awaiting us! A great choice. For mains, Barry selected the 'Mal burger', which came with bacon, relish and fries, while I picked the traditional chicken roast, which was served with potatoes, vegetables and pork sausage.It was nice to get a Sunday roast as it's something I never do! We were quite full up by then, but I couldn't say no to a dessert! I went for the vanilla crème brulée, while Barry picked a special tart of the day, which came with blueberry icecream! We both enjoyed the meal, especially the selection of starters! And it was great to finally see inside the Malmaison!

Wow! This has to be one of my favorite new places in Europe. Excellent, chill decor, inexpensive hotel rooms with awesome showers. Only one complaint, the lighting if you actually want to see something getting dressed or read, is nonexistent. I think their forte' is creating sexy getaway spaces for the hip scene. The restaurant and hotel looked like an Ian Scrager hotel here in the states. I'd definitely go back to up and coming Belfast and this hotel chain. The price was reasonable at 79Euros for 2 beds, and the service was great. They help you save on cabs and where to go and have all sorts of yummy mini bar and fun suggestions (like, take a run, here).

Horrible hotel and horrible service. The room stank when we checked in, they had the window open for ventilation since they do not have the appropriate vent.

If you don't like sleeping this is the hotel for you. Personally I like at least 6 hours, but that is impossible at this establishment. Whatever method was used in the construction of the premises, you can hear ever single footstep and movement of the occupants above at 2am through to 7am. What more the staff don't care when informed and certainly given similar reviews on Trip Advisor this is evident. The food in restaurant for dinner is quite bland and what more expect the staff to make a big deal about not having a reservation, when there are a whole two other tables in the restaurant at 6pm. If you book breakfast with your weekend away, expect to pay extra for a cooked breakfast. Lastly we were hassled on several occasions and other males in the bar by a lady that we requested removed more than once. A bizarre weekend stay and one we won't be looking to repeat in any Malmaison hotel

Had breakfast here since we can were checking in early long story short...once was enough. The price was high compared to other restaurants but I expected this since it is in a hotel. The presentation of food was boring and coffee bland. Breakfast wasn't worth the price. I also found it rude that I just got my food and was quarter into it. The waitress came dropped the bill and proceeded to ring it as I was still eating. Was expecting a more formal and professional level with trained staff. Never have I had this happen while eating a meal in a restaurant.

I've eaten in Malmaison a few times over the years and have always been impressed with their fine selection of starters. The main courses and desserts are top notch too but the starters are the the focus of any dining occasion at Malmaison. I visited again today with my boyfriend and his family for a birthday meal booked at 1pm. We had bought 4 deals on TreatTicket- the deal was 'Saturday Brunch: enjoy three courses for £15 per person' and thought we would be in for a great experience as usual. Unfortunately, the Saturday Brunch is unlike the Sunday brunch in that there is much less of a selection for the starter course which was a disappointment. Luckily the birthday girl had not been to Malmaison before so was none the wiser and the starters available were nicely presented and tasty. However, the mains were a bit of a let down. The 'big Mal breakfast' was not big at all (in normal circumstances having a huge starter would have helped with this!) and I'm sure the mini saucepan of beans contained one tablespoon, if that. The meal included one half a grilled tomato, one sausage,two slices of bacon, an egg and a slice of black pudding. It was befitting of a starter, not a main, especially if you held back on the starters to not ruin your appetite for a main course. My boyfriend gave me some of his chips which were delicious and filled my plate out. He had the Malmaison burger which he described as being 'very dry'. His mum- the birthday girl- had ordered fish and chips but was served the wrong meal and had to wait an extra while for her correct choice of fish and chips. However, she thought the food was gorgeous. The waitress kindly brought an extra portion of chips for the table which was a really decent gesture and made up for the wrong food choice. That and the two glasses of fizz we got for free as a result of checking in with Yelp sealed the deal. Desserts were gorgeous. I can't fault them at all. I had the hot chocolate- absolutely gorgeous- jug of melted chocolate is to die for- the ice cream and marshmallows come a close second! The sticky toffee puddings enjoyed by the rest of our party looked delicious and were gobbled up so they must have been good! We had Americano coffees in the bar after our meal and they were served with a complimentary sponge bun each. Coffee was good, buns were good, surprised I didn't explode with all the food I ate today. I rate Malmaison today as 3.5 out of 5. Usually I think of a Malmaison meal as being a 5* occasion, but the lack of the starter buffet (only on Sundays) and the long waits between courses put me off a bit. Malmaison's Sunday brunch on TreatTicket is a much better deal for £15. However, the birthday girl and her friend really enjoyed their experience so this is good enough for me! The staff are very courteous too. An added bonus. I will be back because I love this place, but now I know to go on a Sunday with a TreatTicket. Upmarket dining in Belfast. Malmaison really has to be sampled- especially on a Sunday.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The lobby is pretty small, but the rooms are modern, large and clean. There is no parking, but there is a structure behind the hotel that you can use. We got a really good deal--something like £115 for the room and included a £75 food voucher! I would definitely stay here again.

My sisters and I spent a very restful night here at MalMaison. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was a little to tall for me so I had to jump up but it was extremely comfortable.

Popped into Malmaison for lunch today as I've heard great things about it and seen they had an offer on of two courses for a tenner. So why not? The menu was the average size you'd expect for a lunchtime offer, a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts- all of which looked awesome! I went for main and dessert-there was chocolate! I chose the steak for my main and chocolate dessert which turned out to be pretty big! But waste not that which is chocolate! The meal was first class! Especially for a special menu. They also were offering bar food at the same time which looked lovely as well. The prices were above average for Belfast but Malmaison is an upmarket venue so that's to be expected. What I didn't expect was that the portions were really pretty big! Not something you normally get with higher end dining so it was great. Malmaison itself is an exquisite building. It is made up of several different buildings combined into one so there's a real historic feel and look to the place, Its really plush and posh inside with deep purples, black and silver. It has a lovely rich boudoir feeling! Think moulin rouge! The hotel looks wonderful and I'm sure you would have a fantastic experience as a guest. Also the bar is really well stocked with extensive beer, spirits, wines and cocktails- though these are from around £2 more expensive than most places in the town. Overall I would definitely recommend the £10 lunch offer which continues at dinnertime Mon-Thurs as well.

Great time at the bar, free internet for the fist half hour! Food was fab at the restaurant, will be back next time I'm in Belfast!

This place breaks out of the cookie cutter hotel décor mold and gives the rooms a sense of intimacy and fun at the same time. The downstairs bar is a great place to stop and get a hot whiskey or Innis & Gunn after a day of sightseeing.

One of the nicest hotels we could find online we decided to stay here when we visited Belfast.Originally this was a old warehouse and they converted it and if i must say so myself i think that they did a really great job of it.It is so stylish now.I stayed here with my boyfriend in one of the love suite packages and it was divine.Think chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne on ice.The gym was an okay size not that i used it much with what i had planned for the bedroom.The staff were pleasant enough and the hotel was in a good easy to find location

I came into Belfast early on a Sunday morning and was recommended Malmaison by chance. I was expecting snooty service, and overpriced, underwhelming quality. I was proved very wrong. When I said that all I wanted was a coffee and croissant, the receptionist was very welcoming and helpful, and recommended the 'Express Breakfast', which included a large pot of coffee, top-quality croissant, lovely jams, toast, freshly squeezed orange juice and two generous bacon roles - all for £5.95. Everything was delicious, and I was stuffed by the end. Superb. The music and atmosphere was cosy, relaxed and intimate, and the service was perfect. I could have spent a couple of hours in there easily. From my breakfast experience at least, Malmaison is up there with the best - in the UK and elsewhere.

This is a wonderful place to eat. The staff are great and very attentive and I had the best Fillet Steak that I have ever eaten! I can't recommend it highly enough.

This is somewhere I like to go for a quiet drink with my wife. What I like about it is its full of tourists. You nearly feel like your abroad. The service is always really good. My wife loves their wine menu. My only concern Is their price. I would recommend it though for a special night.

This review is only about the hotel and not the restaurant. Pros: Malmaison is very well located and within easy walking distance to all things in the city center. The rooms are lovely, well appointed, upscale, and modern. The staff was friendly and helpful. Cons: Malmaison does not have any parking. You have to park in a parking structure kind of across the street, which will cost you an additional $10 every time you go in and out, and the parking structure is not open 24 hours a day. This was not a huge problem, but you should factor in an additional $20/day for parking. Also not a big deal, but of note is that the "gym" is very small - smaller than your hotel room and from memory had 2 machines and some hand weights. So if a gym is important to you, this one is minimal. The primary complaint is that the hotel is very loud from room to room. The floors creak and we could hear the people in the room upstairs when they arrived back in the middle of the night, every time they got up and walked around, etc. This may be unavoidable in an old building, but it was very noticeable and we never slept through a night because of the noise we could hear from the surrounding rooms.

Really really nice hotel the bed was sooo comfortable! Food was lovely I had venison which was a little pricey but well worth it!
