Yelp
On this lazy and absolutely BLAZING hot Sunday afternoon in ATX, the hubby and I decided to try a different Mexican place for brunch than our usuals of Matt's El Rancho or Lupe's, and I ran across Mama Betty's on Parmer. One of the previous Yelpers wrote "FRESH MADE TORTILLAS" twice and in those caps, so we were totally down to try it because that's a HUGE thing for us, as well! LOL! For realz, though!
The place is big and super nice and cozy! Bonus points for them playing the Spanish version of Eye of the Tiger when we walked in! Ha! Their music is on point!
The chips are my favorite type! The puffy and textured type. Yum! Hubby and I dug both sauces, too!
As for what we ordered (besides two or five delicious skinnies, natch!), we elected to start with the Queso Flameado (because it's my total obsession at Ninfa's on Navigation in Houston, and I'm forever on the lookout for the proper Austin dupe!)
Queso Flameado: OMGGGGGGGGG! Literally identical to my OG! I'm shocked! It makes me wonder if Mama Betty (May she rest in peace!) ever worked at Ninfa's while she was in Houston! Whatever the case, Mama Betty's just won the brunch for me! Just stupid good! *drops mic*
Even though the mic has been dropped, my hubs declares that brunch must still go on! LOL! For our (let's be honest, his) mains, we're going with Huevos Rancheros and Betty's Omelet Tradicional:
Huevos Rancheros: Hubby says that this was classic, unctuous, and satisfying!
Betty's Omelet Tradicional: Hubby says that this was super fresh, light, and full of veggies and cheese. Fantastic!
Will we be back? $&@in' A, we will! Bleepin' yes!
P.S. Shout out to our adorably sweet server, Alex! He was smooth as silk and a fab Mama Betty's dining guide!
P.S. 2 Yep! It turns out that Mama Betty actually did work at Ninfa's! Mystery solved, and it's even more of a reason that we'll be back, as if we needed another one!
P.S. 3 FRESH MADE TORTILLAS
This place is SO great, y'all! Thanks, Mama Betty's!
