Mama Bread - Review - East Nashville - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Mama Bread in East Nashville is churning out freshly-baked croissants from its oven starting at 8am, followed by the bread(s) of the day at 10am. Along with their laminated goodies, the shop stocks fresh produce from Bloomsbury Farm, and an assortment of oils, jellies, butters, and chocolates to accompany its treats." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Mama Bread is a fantastic local morning coffee shop. Opens 8:00am line can get long but moves fast with hard working friendly staff. croissants, and sourdough bread are word class. They highlight the fresh, high-quality ingredients, ..can sit inside or outside on patio… check out the mini organic produce & fine gourmet food products. Got to love this place.

Great place to grab a coffee. You can easily work from here with their complimentary 90 minute wifi. I would avoid their food, while very tasty it is a bit on the pricier side. The $19 charcuterie was definitely not worth it for 2 cheeses, 4 slices of small salami, and bologna. Still delicious but something to consider.

Mama Bread may be the best new bakery and coffee shop in town! I went on a Wednesday morning around 10:30 and they were already halfway sold out of all of their bread and good pastries - I was shocked, as they have signs that state that bread doesn’t come out until 10! I got a Morning Bun that tasted of brown sugar and orange zest. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect combination of fluffy and flakey. I also tried a salted caramel iced latte that was divine. I loved that they also had an area with some fresh produce and other food items for sale. The seating area was super cute, and would be perfect for those who want to do a little work at a nearby coffee shop! I also adored the blue exterior of the building, as it is a stunning color!

Heard whispers about this spot poolside at Soho House yesterday, and naturally had to check it out. Very glad I did. The vibe is chef’s kiss — tucked into a cute neighborhood, with a little market inside stocked with some fresh produce, meats, cookbooks, even candy (all perfectly aesthetic packaging, of course). It feels like someone curated it straight out of a design mood board. Since they just opened yesterday, they are limit in things to one pastry per person (probably smart, because otherwise I’d have walked out with a mountain of croissants). We grabbed the ham & cheese croissant and the morning bun. The croissant? Imagine a buttery, crispy grilled ham & cheese sandwich had a love child with a perfectly laminated croissant. Absolute perfection. The morning bun? Divine—layers of caramelized sugar, cinnamon, and orange zest that basically made me want to lick my fingers in public. We didn’t try the bread loaves (travel problems), but overheard the fresh batch hits the shelves at 10am—worth timing your visit if you’re local. Family-friendly, staff were genuinely friendly, and while there was a line, it moved quickly. Espresso was surprisingly great too (not what I came for, but happy bonus). And the space is full of thoughtful little touches—yes, even down to the custom hand soap. All in all, it feels like Nashville just got itself a new carb temple. Highly recommend.

When I found out a bakery was moving in to this building I was SO EXCITED and it is better than I could have hoped! The bread here is probably the best bread I've ever had! Every pastry I've tried has been SO delicious, I can't wait to try them all (like tomorrow??) The owners Jenn and Evan are so sweet and genuine and it shows that they truly care about improving the neighborhood. This is a place for locals to gather and grab a fresh sourdough loaf or other great items from their market area and fresh produce fridge and see a friendly face every time! The cafe and outdoor seating area is beautiful and spacious, perfect to meet a friend or read a book while you drink some Heart espresso (one of my faves) and have a flaky warm pastry. Nashville has needed more bakeries for years and this is a perfect addition to east Nashville! Long Live Mama Bread!

My first visit to the mothership today and it was everything and more. Jacey was an absolute gem and said get the mortadella and I did. It was absolutely incredible. Jennifer was of course amazing and signed my book and the chocolate sea salt cookie and espresso tonic were 100. I think I’ll be back tomorrow 🩷🩷🩷

Google
My new local spot and truly love it so much. The morning buns and breakfast sandwiches hit the spot. I also got the morning bun latte (recommended by the owner) and was pleasantly surprised. I might be hooked. We also got a loaf of sourdough to go!

The pastries are unreal, the atmosphere is all you’ve been hoping for. Inside or out- you will enjoy fs. Best pastries in Nashville, the country bread is so good, it was still warm when I got it.

Yelp
So i love this place. I think their bread and their pastries are great! I do reallllly really wish I could say the same for their coffee and then it would be a perfect 5 star place for me. Twice I have gone and gotten okay coffee- like I would go back. I just ordered a cappuccino and the milk was burnt, like 160 degrees and it started to get into the cheese taste. Maybe it's ambitious to expect the bread shop to have good coffee but when I go get a pastry I'm looking for both. I think if they just caught all the baristas up on training a bit it would be great-- and I mean that with the best intentions because I want this place to be my favorite.

Yelp
We (5 of us) stopped in for lunch and we all loved it! I had the avocado toast with an egg. Sprouted multigrain toast covered with avocado, radish slices and a jammy egg. Delicious. I had an Italian lemonade with it. For dessert my SO got a chocolate croissant and shared it with me. Very flakey & delicious. Others had a ham & cheese and avocado toasts. They all expresses how good they were. As Arnold said, 'I'll be back!'

Yelp
Wow... how lucky are us East Nashvillians to have such an incredible little bakery in our neighborhood?? This place is a real gem, and their baked goods are very high quality. I hope it never blows up too much, to be honest, because I selfishly don't want to have to wait in a fat line to get a morning treat... but we all know that's coming. I honestly think this is one of the best bakeries I've ever tried in any country I've lived in or visited. It's next level! I've tried their cold brew, their lattes, the morning bun, the egg sandwiches, their rotating creative pastry creations.. and they're all 10/10 or better. Seriously incredible stuff that is well worth the trip. Thank you, Mama Bread for making our neighborhood a tastier place!

Yelp
Okay full break down: Spent $38.42 I got the Morning Bun Latte, a chocolate croissant, the mortadella sandwich on country bread, and a bag of Bonilla a la vista chips. The best part of this order was the chips. The latte lacked flavor and was a little too bitter for my taste. The croissant was way overcooked! The mortadella sandwich was underwhelming, the best part was the bread but even that was just okay (I have friends that make a better sourdough loaf than that.) The chips were really good! The service was wonderful, everyone was very kind, and the shop itself was cute! I would maybe go back for the bodega style shop at the front but I don't know if I would be willing to stand in line.

Yelp
Best bakery in Nashville. Vibes are incredible and service is always great. Go at 9, get pastries, then get a loaf at 10 and take it home. 10/10

Yelp
The sourdough olive bread was way too dense. Croissants over cooked which resulted in tons of flakes everywhere. Good coffee and cute shop though.

Yelp
Disappointed that the pistachio cardamom bun had no flavour of either ingredient; though was a good sweet bun.

Yelp
Ordered Jammy Egg TOAST. Received a cold piece of thin bread (half the thickness of the other "toasts" around me) with cold toppings. We actually ordered all the toasts on the menu, and none of them were toasted. However, the other two pieces were double the thickness of the third. Not sure how we are messing up toast, but that's where we are apparently. Oh well. The drive to Dozen still proves to be well worth it.

Yelp
Had the croissant. Overbaked. They kindly gave me another one, again overbaked. Nice staff. Good coffee. Not sure I'll return.
