Order there at your own risk!!! I wanted family size portions which Uber Eats didn't have, & their website was down. I called the Restaurant, Mr Sunday confirmed they had family packs, & offered to send me the menu on WhatsApp. They insisted on only cash or bank transfer(& to private- not business account), saying no card payment over the phone, & £10 delivery!(Distance of ~1mile - 5-6mins!) On payment, I called back only to be told it would take 30mins.... Almost 90mins later, the food eventually came🤦🏼‍♀️ They sent SINGLE PORTION sizes!!! I called them to try to clarify, even sent evidence of the much cheaper UberEATS prices.... He admitted I asked for family packs, couldn't explain why he sent me restaurant prices, nor why there are 2 different price lists on Uber Eats, yet he charged me almost £50 more for THE SAME TAKEAWAY at double the time. I requested the difference in price. I just got tired of the back and forth, as they stopped engaging via text. I hope they are up-to-date on their taxes, as I see no reason why I had to pay into a personal account, & they are refusing a refund of the difference. Sadly, I always celebrate Nigerian Cuisine, but this service has fallen faaaar below expectations.....with their rip off exploitative prices and abysmal customer services. They can do better. See the price list yourself🤦🏼‍♀️

I was really looking forward to enjoying a good Nigerian meal at Mama Calaba, but unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing. The food was poorly prepared and had a horrible taste that made it difficult to eat. What made it worse was the price – being charged so much for a meal I barley eat felt frustrating. I left not only with a bad taste in my mouth but also with real disappointment after what should have been an enjoyable meal. I won’t be returning.

Mama Calabar in London is no fluke. De food justifies de name of this restaurant. Several Nigerian varieties & delights to choose from. All delicious & served fresh & steaming hot. Even local side chops like poof poof, chin chin, etc available. Located in a quiet neighbourhood, Hendon. Just about 250 metres to de train station. Furthermore, haven't seen a neater & well set up restaurant in recent times. Everything sparkling & in order (including de convenience. U can also peep into de kitchen & withness de same cleanliness & organisation. Chilled Nigerian lager present. Limited outdoor seating is available, especially for de revellers. Guess u know wat I mean!

First take away from Mama calabar. The food presentation was really good. Diligent checks and above all the gent had a smile on when receiving calls and attending to me with respect Food taste was good but could be better Suya was lamb chops; which was the only wrong credit. However, your suya spice was 10 out of 10.

The food was decent. Nothing much. I have experienced a lot of Nigerian restaurants. It's a good place to eat. A bit pricey.

Worst nigerian restaurant i have ever patronised. Tasteless jollof. The assorted meat stew was soggy and tasteless with very small portions. Waste of money

I ordered (Isiewu) Goat Head which was £35 as a takeaway and when I got home I realised it was all bone and tough to chew. There wasn’t any meat in it and it didn’t taste like Isiewu at all. I was really disappointed considering how expensive it was. I found the Suya meat which is £15 a portion to be okay but has more skin and fat than actual meat. As for the customer service, the male at the reception is very kind and professional however, the female needs to improve her customer service skills and be friendly, respectful regardless who walks into that restaurant because not only are they super expensive they also have competitions around them in that location.

So, this is my 1st Time in many years going to Mama Calabar. I forgot to ask his name Front of house gentleman not sure if it was the owner was super nice, polite and welcoming. I took particular notice because most times when you go to African restaurants Customer service and been warm to customers is not a priority .He even helped with charging my phone and headphones and would even bring my phone when it rang like 5 x🤣 Restaurant was clean and air-conditioned so that was nice. So food prep wait time wasn't long which is good I ordered White rice egusi and fish and a bottled water i had puff puff as an appetizer dont judge me I was ravenous when I arrived and I did Suya takeaway as well. I ate the Suya layer in the evening and I think its worth the £13 Total of my food came up to 45.50 only reason I didn't give 5* is because the sauces is a bit on the steep side and the quantity the plain egusi is 7 pounds and the fish 15!! now if it were a whole fish I would understand.Mine came with 2 slices of fish I was too hungry to remember to take pictures.. In this Cost of living Crisis I feel customers should get more fish definitely..puff puff as well at 3.50 for 5 tiny balls. I will definitely come again!!
