The reviews truthfully told the story of Mama’s delicious authentic Mexican food… and the fact that you order it from a walk up window or online advance. We walked up and had our food within about 10-15 minutes tops. Mama was very sweet. There’s no seating outside so you have to take it somewhere else to devour the delightfulness. We went back to our hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the tacos, especially because it was Thursday and they were $2 each. The nachos were good, had a bit too much cheese sauce for us and we could’ve done fine with the smaller portion. The chicken was delicious though. It’s definitely an affordable meal alternative to grab some yummy tacos and take them back to your hotel or your apartment.

We stumbled upon Mama Chavez Tamales and More and it ended up being the best food we had our whole trip! Everything was flavorful and fresh, but the standouts were definitely the barbacoa tacos and the quesadilla – absolutely delicious and packed with authentic flavor. What made the experience even better was the hospitality and that it was open late. And, we went back because it was so good! Support this gem. We’ll be dreaming about those tacos until our next visit!

These reviews are out of their minds or have never encountered seasoning. This is straight up public school cafeteria food. I had the rice, tamales, esquites (only okay item), beans, chips and queso and salsa, burrito, etc. Sadly this is straight up microwaved food, bought from restaurant depot. I tasted the queso and wondered why it tasted familiar and it was bc it was the same queso my middle school cafeteria served. This is so so unfortunate, I wanted to support a local business but there’s no heart in this food, and no seasoning. Everything season-less and watered down. Devastating! So disappointing :/. I hope they improve.

This is a Take out only shop offering delicious Mexican food. You can order from a tiny window or through online services like door dash. We tried the Burrito and Tamale with Salsa Verde, both were good. Our favourite was the burrito that was loaded with rice, beans and meat and was good enough for two. Tamale was decent in taste.

If you're looking for some of the best tacos and 🫔 tamales in the city this is the spot . I ate 6 tacos but i could have ate 4 more . Can't beat these the price either. There's no indoor sitting but great to take on the go or at the out door tables .

This place is awful! The food was extremely bland. I used both salsas, and they were just as tasteless. I wouldn't even consider it mild because it was as if I poured water on my tacos. I ordered two carnitas tacos and two tamales (one pork Verde and another cheese and jalapeno). However, I only ate the two tacos because they had already made me ill before arriving at the tamales. Lastly, it was Taco Tuesday, 5 minutes past midnight, and she charged us full price for everything. We were the only ones there. I understand the business, especially with small and authentic spots. However, this is not a good way to get repeat customers, especially after the awful food. I also want to mention that there are no vegetarian options, as everything is cooked with lard. I only mention that because a previous comment stated that they have lard-free options, which is incorrect.

Quite possibly the best tacos I have ever had, I stopped by this place and saw they had $1.50 tacos (Taco Tuesday), so I ordered one chicken one just to try it. It was absolutely delicious so I ordered three more… and then eleven more. The green salsa is also a must! Not to mention that the service is incredible (they put up with me ordering three separate times). If you get the opportunity to run into this place on a Tuesday (or any other day!), you have to try it.

Amazing food, amazing prices and last but not least Amazing people, we were just walking around and found this walk-thru taco place, at first you don’t really notice it, but if you’re looking for really good mexican food with a really good deal this is the place!

Burritos are fat and afforable. Def my go to latenight snack. The chips and queso tastes really good as well.

It's an election night. But it's also Taco Tuesday. So, I went to find my tacos of the day. I wanted to try this place many times but I only walked past it after a meal. Today was the day. I got there and ordered two of each: carne asada, carnitas, and al pastor. I also ordered esquites or a cup of corns with all the fixings. The service was fast AND they accept cards now. I brought cash just for the occasion but realized they had one of those card readers you can tap the card. The place is essentially a casher's window with bunch of menu items taped on all the windows. Definitely does give that authentic look you would expect from Mama Chavez's Tamales and more. The food tastes fairly good. I think it might be one of the best tacos for the price around Belltown. The meats were a bit dry for carnitas and carne asada. The Al pastor was perfect BUT didn't have the pineapples. It could be that it's out of season or due to the discounted price on Tuesday. Did I mention that the tacos were ONLY $1.50 on Tuesdays??? Yes. It is true. Probably best deal for the day of the week.

Still one of my faves in the Belltown area. Great tamales! However, they recently discontinued all of their vegetarian tamales. Since my girlfriend is vegetarian, that more or less means we'll stop going. The only time I'll go is when she's not with me. (What, I'm going to eat in front of her?) A serious bummer. Per another review, their hours are sometimes "flexible." We've come on two occasions during the hours they're supposed to be open only to find that they were not. Frustrating when you have limited time and few other immediate options in the area.

Sweetest employees and delicious food. Right below the airbnb I stayed in with a friend. open until 2am for those late night munchies!! absolutely recommend the tacos and chocolate flan cake

We're from New Mexico and make tamales at every Christmas. If this place were in Albuquerque charging these prices for these tamales, there'd be a line to Texas. 3 for $10 Happy Hour?! And these are first rate! I didn't want to stop - figured why bother? How good can it be way up here in the Northwest? And it's just a little storefront window - it can't be worth it. My wife insisted - she had a hankering. Boy, was I wrong! Mama Chavez can cook! Ignore my photos: they don't do these justice. We got green pork (revelatory), green chicken (fine; I wouldn't bother again) and rajas (spectacular flavor - rubber "cheese" and all), a carnitas (so mych flavor) and a barbacoa (maybe even better than the carnitas) taco and rice (great broth-y flavor). Mama Chavez's Tamales & More is hitting above its weight class: I'm really surprised at how good it was - and how inexpensive. (They were out of red chile pork tamales - we might go back tomorrow to try one out.)

A great new place to grab Mexican food! We were walking towards Pike Place and luckily ran into here. On Tuesdays, they offer $1.50 tacos. That's so crazy! Their tacos are street style too so you know it's legit. I got their carnitas and pastor. The pastor was so good and flavorful. It came with pineapple which I loved. The service here was really good. The cashier was really nice and helpful. The food was made pretty quickly and the quality was great. It's only take out with this place. There's only two seats set up in the front. But not a big deal since food was delicious. I'm definitely coming back here!

Great spot for some late night eats after hitting the bars. Likely to deal with some of the late night ruffians getting their fill too. Lady who works the window is nice and the food is pretty good. Great hours too. Will be back

These guys catch multiple fails today. Drove here in rush hour traffic because hours listed are 11am to 1AM. When we arrived at 2pm, the place was closed with a hand written sign on notebook paper that they now open at 5PM. This was a massive waste of time and another example of why so many businesses are struggling. You don't have a a website, you don't update your Yelp page, and despite solid review, the place looked absolutely filthy. This literally put a 90 minute gap in a day that didn't have any flexibility.

People who moved from California to here, trust me, this will bring you back to some good memories. I'm so happy to find an amazing taco place that reminds me of the amazing tacos in California.

$1.50 Taco Tuesdays!!! Ever since I found out about their taco Tuesday deal, I have not missed a Tuesday! Before moving to Seattle, I lived in California and Arizona, this is the first place here that reminds me of my previous homes. Love this place, open late which is rare in Seattle.

This place is great, first good mexican street food ive had in seattle, and open late. Take out only. Orders can be kinda slow so come with a few minutes to wait.

Love this place! Their tacos are legit, very authentic. My favorites are the barbacoa and pastor. Tried a few other things on the menu and they are also spot on. Nachos with carne asada, and the tamales, both red and green are good. I am so glad this takeout place is in the neighborhood!!

This place is AWESOME for taco Tuesday! Tacos are only $1.50 all day long. My favorite was the al pastor. For tamales, I recommend the green chicken. I got a beef tamale and it was pretty dry. The quesadillas are also tasty. They have horchata and tortas as well. We can't wait to come back!

I absolutely love this place. The tamales and burritos are the best I've ever tasted, with incredible flavor. Simply amazing!

Coming from California it has been hard to come by authentic Mexican food and Mama Chavez does it right. I was floored at how much heart was put into my meal and my wife truly felt like she was eating her favorite childhood dishes. Can't wait to come back and hope to try the rest of the menu. Small spot, great service, great food. Support Mama!
