Mama Dumplings - (Saint Jean)

I have been coming to this restaurant for a few years now, and they never disappoint. The food is always delicious, fresh and consistent. The dumplings are hand made in view of the customer, and this detail is much appreciated! The decoration is beautiful and simple creating and intimate and warm ambiance to enjoy your delicious dumplings! A staple of the West Island, I believe everyone should take a moment to enjoy the food here. They will always get a 5/5, and I will keep coming back as I just can’t get enough! The portions are amazing too, you get quite a bit of dumplings in your steamer which makes for delicious leftovers if you can’t eat it all!

On a cold winter day, this place hit the spot perfectly. Everything was freshly made on the spot. The soup dumplings were comforting and flavorful, the fried dumplings were crispy and delicious, and the peanut butter dumplings were surprisingly amazing — so good and perfectly balanced. Cozy, satisfying, and definitely worth coming back for!

I have to say I wasn’t too impressed with the dumplings. They were mid, just okay and not a lot of choices for pescatarian. The peanut butter dumplings were also not too great. I wouldn’t go back to this dumpling place, there are sooo many more all around that taste a lot better. One thing I did like is that their dumplings were not overcooked with the steam and stayed a little firm. Service wasnt too bad either, but they can pay a little more attention to their customers.

The food tasted good. We ordered the Chef Choice, a combination of different dumpling chosen by the chef. I had steamed, my Mom had pan fried. Mom had food poisoning. We can't identify which flavour because there was a mix. Won't be dining here again.

My kids and I love to go here. It’s our go to dumpling spot very fresh and delicious. The only issue is the pricing is a bit too expensive but other than that lovely restaurant!

Tried out this dumpling place for lunch in the West Island and was pleasantly surprised. I can only comment on the soup dumplings because that's all I ordered but they were quite good. It's a small place with around 20 seats. The service is good, area is clean and decently priced dishes. They may have an issue with the colder weather because there is a draft every time the main door opens. Parking my also be an issue being there aren't many parking spots in their lot. Overall, a nice, quaint place for dumplings.

Went here for dinner. I ordered peanut butter dumplings and spring rolls. There was hardly any peanut butter on the dumplings and the dumplings fall apart as you are trying to eat them and the meat inside comes out so you have basically wet pasta and tiny pieces of meat. The spring rolls weren't fried properly. They were mushy instead of having a crispy outside. Also they were not the same size.

I went with my family (6 people). Great service, affordable, and did not have to wait long to get served. They also served lemon water which was refreshing. We tried the soup, chicken dumplings, pork dumplings, beef dumplings and shrimp dumplings. The pork and leek is very tasty and juicy. They have a "chef's surprise" for around $10 where you can try different kinds of dumplings that they offer. I have a peanut allergy and I was able to eat here safely even though they have some peanut butter dumplings on the menu. Clean and modern look, very bright. Would highly recommend for a place to eat in the West Island with either friends or family!

Long waiting time but I guess because it is good. However, plates were dirty, table was not serviced. We had to go grab our chopsticks and our sauces. Take was not cleaned. The guy simply too off the other people's plates and sat us down.

Nice restaurant and Food is Ok. I wouldn't say that great since I had better dumplings than this place. We had the fried dumplings and expect to pay a little more bcoz they fried them. Weird but that's how they charge. It's on the menu so it's not a hidden fees. Service is good. We were here for lunch and were the only there. For Dollard-des-Ormeaux area , this place is better than I expected.

Good food! Small place so go early or go late or better yet call for takeout Recommend!

I find myself coming back here every time I'm craving dumplings. The location is small but I haven't been in a situation where I couldn't get a table yet. All the staff are super friendly and are always looking out to see if you need anything. As for the dumplings, they're incredible. They are offered either steamed or fried. They also have a ton of different dumpling options (meat, fish, veggie) so they do cater to multiple types of food restrictions. I usually stick with the chicken and cabbage or the chicken and curry. They're both delicious options and any types of dumplings can be combined to total 15 for an extra very small fee. Caution: when eating the dumplings, WAIT at least a minute because I've burnt my mouth a countless number of times. Once you take that first bite, all the juices and liquid within the dumplings burst and when too hot, you can seriously get your mouth burnt (like me lol). Overall, I can't seem to crave any other type of dumpling restaurant but this one. I will definitely be back soon.

Dumplings were beautifully presented! Cute little location. Went with portions of 10 pieces of steamed lamb & coriander and pan-fried beef curry & onion. My preference was by far the lamb. They were bursting with flavor and juice. Make sure to wait 2-3 minutes! (mission impossible) Decent amount of sitting room (20-25 seats) and I bet there's a lot of traffic going in and out with take-out and delivery! Open kitchen, so you see the staff work hard. Barely 10 minutes after I ordered all my dumplings were served. Good vibes. I'll knock a star for the extra charges. Their right to do this I guess. Totally understand the charge if you want to split your dumpling order....but I'm definitely not a fan to pay $1.50 extra for pan-fried dumplings or even $2 for peanut butter sauce? Beyond that, real good dumplings! Will be back when I'm back in the area.

I love their St-Hubert location and since I found myself in the West island decided to give this location a shot. Dumplings were very good, we took the beef curry and onion fried and shrimp leek egg steamed. I noticed that they have slightly less filling at this location though. Cucumber salad was great and service was good. My friend and I stayed to chat a bit and since it wasn't busy the staff just poured us some water and left us alone . Glad the west island has a solid dumpling option!

Easily the best dumplings I've had in a while (possibly ever!) This restaurant is pretty new and is very nicely decorated. It's a casual place that seats around 20-25, all with a view of the open kitchen where you can watch the art of dumpling creation while your stomach grumbles! They have a lunch and dinner menu with lots of options. The dumplings come in either a set of 10 or 15. I recommend getting 15 because they are so great that you will not be able to stop at 10. The day we were there, they had an issue with their fryer so we only had the option to get steamed. We ordered: Shrimp with leek and pork (15): Unreal, so much delicious broth and flavour Lamb with green onion (15):My favourite. So juicy and fresh Chicken coriander curry (15): I'm not the biggest fan of coriander and I still enjoyed it. Chicken and cabbage (15): This wasn't my choice because it was a bit simple for me. I was surprised at how flavourful it was. They each cost between $12-$14. We were going to order peanut butter dumplings to start but the waitress recommended that we just get a peanut sauce on the side. That was a great suggestion. The waitress was super friendly and helpful when were making our choices. I hesitated between giving 4 or 5 stars because the dumplings took an hour to come and two tables that came before us were served first. We were getting a bit hangry but they offered us some coleslaw while we waited so that was appreciated. This might be something to consider if you come here during the lunch rush as I don't know if they will be able to keep up. Long wait aside, I am so excited to come back here next time I'm in the west island! Yum yum yum

Amazing dumpling place located in the West Island of Montreal! I went there for dinner on a weekday as my friend and I had a craving for dumplings and were tired of the usual spots in downtown Montreal. The drive was worth it as the dumplings were very good. The decor of the restaurant is very nice as you can see from the other pictures. The food presentation as well was on point. I can go on with the aesthetics but let's go to the important part of the review: the food. From the counter, you can see how the dumplings are made. The dumplings themselves were very tasty, with the right amount of juicy and savory. The portions were generous too for the price. What was great was the selection of dumplings which was very varied. Overall, a great dumpling spot for my people in the West Island!

This place literally has the best dumplings I've ever ate. I wish I could give them 6 stars. I go to Chinatown in NYC a few times a year and always eat dumplings there. After eating Mama's Dumplings I don't know if I'll ever eat them in NYC again for fear of being let down. I had (15) pork and cabbage dumplings. They are good size but taste so good I felt like I could eat 15 more. The building is very clean and nicely decorated. I'm only in town a few days but will definitely be eating here again this week. As a frequent traveler I keep a mental note of the must visit places everywhere I go and this is at the top for Montreal area. The sad thing is I'm going to have to deal with a upset girlfriend when she finds out I can't eat dumplings any place else. Once you have the best you can't go backwards. I know there is always the chance that someplace else could be better but my taste buds couldn't handle it.

Great comfort food place with authentic Chinese dumplings :) Restaurant is neat and delightful! The service is quick and the staff are friendly. The food looked amazing and tasted great too. If you're in Montreal, I highly recommend stopping by this restaurant. Definitely a hidden gem!

Great spot for dumplings without going downtown. I get to avoid traffic. Dumplings were made fresh. Small dining room which fills up quickly. Fresh bright location. Wonton soup was good. Nice find for me. They're training new stay so service is a little slow but still pleasant. Come try

Bought frozen dumplings to cook at home. I wasn't sure if it was worthwhile, compared to what you can get in grocery stores. These were a step above! The cilantro and pork was delicious, the shrimp dumplings were meaty, and the service was quick. Great value for your money!

It was noisy and my friend could not order because cashier couldn't speak French... dusty counter and it looked dirty in the kitchen. Dumplings did not taste fresh but it might be my first impressions about cleanliness. Never going here again! Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because I feel bad Glad I was not sick

What a cute spot, obsessed with the decor here! From the large mural of "Mama" to the bamboo steamers on the walls. There are lots of choices of dumplings here, more than I've seen in any other place. I liked that they had the "Dumpling Surprise" which is essentially a sampler of random dumplings from the menu. This is perfect if you don't want to order 10 of any one type of dumpling (10 is the minimum order). However, it would be nice to know which dumplings you are sampling as part of the "surprise" after they bring them out. I feel like I tried so many different ones but I wasn't really sure what's what.

It was good. You can get steamed or pan fried for a fee. It is a small place. Good service.

Grabbed some dumplings and soup to go while stuck at an airport hotel. Really delicious, satisfied the whole family, and made me so glad we didn't just stop at the nearest chain restaurant. We ate at Heritage Park nearby which was perfect for an early dinner.

I lived in China for two years and have been trying to find a decent place for dumplings ever since I came back. Let me tell you, Mama Dumplings is the real deal!! Can't believe I found it. The decor is really cute and the staff is super friendly. But the best part is that they make their dumplings fresh and on the spot! I tried the pork and shrimp, pork, beef and cilantro, and peanut butter dumplings. I took them steamed. All were DE-LICIOUS! I'm definitely coming back.

Delcious dumplings. Top flavours were lamb and coriander fried and pork and leek steamed. So far the best dumplings in the West Island. I didn't like the noodles dish. Very bland and no texture. But their kimchi pickles were one of the best I've had and the portion was very generous.

Fried dumplings are awesome. Personally found their steamed dumpling a little watery but still good when soaked in sauce. Overall I have gone back a few times. Pretty good spot

We ate there this summer. It's a very small area inside but the dumplings can also be ordered for take out. They are soup dumplings and we no longer drive downtown to maisonneuve street to have delicious dumplings. Recommend to lovers. The staff was courteous. Will return!

Excellent dumpling house, some of the best I've tasted, and I've eaten a ton of dumplings. Decor was simple and bright, and the service was prompt. Staff are very friendly. Will definitely visit again...and again...and again!

Ordered surprise dumpling package on a Friday night for take out. Wish there would had been a descriptor of what was what...instead of just every dumpling was a mystery... annoyingly, both two family members developed small facial hives after eating them (one has peanut other almond). I'd eat again for myself. Also, guys...it's a pandemic. You NEED to have actual alcohol gel at door or at least access to soap and water for clients... do better please

Pre pandemic, it was all downtown all the time for dumplings more for the glorious chaos of the experience than anything else. Mama Dumpling filled the quality void and then some for the past 18 months. Generous, balanced and uncomplicated fare that doesn't try to be more than it is and, as a result, does it well.

The dumplings were delicious and the portions are very generous for the price. I think they could improve on the number of dipping sauces they have available to allow for a better experience. I give it a thumbs up.

Excellent Shrimp won ton soup and the hot and sour cucumber is bomb. Dumplings are excellent personal fave is chicken and coriander.

Really enjoyed my order from here, the dumplings came out super hot and much faster than the usual waits for dumplings that I get from the city. I ordered the lamb and coriander that was super juicy and flavourful inside and nothing less than amazing. I love that the West Island now has a couple of decent dumpling places. Will definitely be coming back here again! The decor is nice and Cosy, not exactly the biggest place but good enough.

The dumplings are a little salty but other than that they were delicious. I had the tofu and veggie dumplings and it was really filling! Really cute atmosphere as well

As good as anything you can get at the classic places downtown, in my opinion! I got the shrimp, pork and leek dumplings and they tasted fresh and delicious. Fast service and very friendly, amenable employees. Finally a good dumpling place in the West Island!!

So excited not to have to go downtown for dumplings anymore!! Was very happy when I noticed this place opening right near my house and couldn't wait to try it. Finally went in and ordered the pan fried chicken and coriander dumplings to go. It was a few minutes before noon and I made it just in time as it started getting busy as I was waiting for my dumplings. The restaurant itself is quite small with only about 10 tables so it can fill up quickly. It is super clean and while I waited the waitress offered me some water which is a nice touch. This isn't a fancy place by any means, they use plastic glasses, but the service and food are excellent and the waitress was very helpful in helping me and then other customers with their orders making suggestions with their orders including how much and what to order to share for a table. I also loved the open kitchen concept and watching my dumplings being made fresh to order.

Perfectly cooked fresh dumplings with wide variety and fairly priced.Hot and sour soup was delicious. Service prompt and courteous. A terrific find in Pointe-Claire!

MAMA dumplings is amazing! They are super kind and professional. What I also appreciate is the fact that the place is well put together along with their chef uniforms. The dumplings are delicious however I gave four stars because I think their dumplings could use just a little more flavor. But that's just me being picky. The Lamb and coriander is my all time favorite along with the shrimp dumplings. Wish you guys the best!

We discovered Mama Dumplings through numerous positive reviews and decided to check it out. We were very impressed with the rich flavors and selection of dumplings. The Chefs Surprise of 10 random dumplings was a great introduction to the menu. I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken and cabbage dumplings along with a noodle appetizer that was tossed in a light peanut sauce. Definitely worth the visit if your in the west end of town. We look forward to coming back again.

Went there after some friends recommended the place. It's expensive Service is slow Girl at the cash goes from handling money to making food without gloves or washing hand The house selection is a bad choice because they mix up everything and are not able to tell you which is which once on the plate. They only do soup dumplings unless you ask to have them pan fried ( even longer to make and $$$$) The lunch spécial price is à joke 50 cts off the regular menu price... Maybe it WI get better with time but not impressed so far

Service great. Dumplings great. Location great. And those who like a more delicate, thinner dumpling would love it.
