London’s Best Caribbean Street Food | Jerk, Roti, Curry Goat, and More | Eater London

"In the sleepy confines of north London’s Hornsey, Mama Gee’s has brought a rare glimpse of Caribbean taste to an area more densely populated with corner shops than food offerings. In addition to Jamaican jerk and curry staples, Mama Gee’s tender oxtail meat swims in a gravy teeming with soft butter beans and mini ‘spinner’ boiled dumplings — a prize winner. Wrap it up in a tortilla for a quick meal on the go." - Riaz Phillips

Legit Caribbean takeaway hidden at the back of Montego’s Food Market on Wood Green High Road. Opted for the Jerk Chicken with Rice & Peas and Curry Goat with Rice & Peas. A combination of good quality meat, seasoned and cooked very well. Good size portions too, will be a regular here during my time living in Wood Green.

I really have to say I am totally blown away by the great service and delicious food from Mama Gees. My favourite meal is the Oxtail and rice and peas. I have been so impressed I ordered Mama Gees food for my sons Birthday. You can literally taste the passion of the chef in the food. The price is competitive and worth every penny. Just like a mechanic or barber you trust you tend to not go elsewhere. I chose to only order my carribean food from.Mama Gees trustvis everything. Please keep up this level of quality.

Mama gee catered for a small garden party for us this summer and everything was tasty and very delicious. the curry goat was sublime and the fish bites gorgeous. Portion size was great, there was plenty left over for people to take home! The team at Mama gees were responsive, friendly and punctual. I would definitely recommend.

Staff were nice especially the lady at the food area,l brought patty and bread, sadly l did not finish them and threw them in the bin after 2 bites. Food and drinks costing £10. I will never return back to this shop, but l do wish there business does well.

Excellent experience! I decided to try Mama Gee based on online reviews, and I'm happy to say they were correct. The Punjabi Samosa Chaat was amazing - I'd eat that every night if I could. The butter chicken, naan, and rice were also quite delicious. I had room for dessert, but unfortunately they did not have my favorite Indian dessert - kheer. Turns out that wasn't a problem. The chef and staff were incredibly friendly, and the chef offered to make me a fresh batch of kheer right then and there (and it did not disappoint!). Well worth a visit.

Staff was very rude. She didn't say hi. Didn't ask what I wanted, but just looked at me. I then said I'm here for a too good to go surprise bag. She again didn't say a word but handed a food box to me ( no bag, but just a small box) and told me to swipe collection in the application. I said thank you and left. She said no hello, no thank you, no welcome, no bye AT ALL. I definitely didn't feel welcome there. Will not return and I don't recommend this place at all. The food is general, not too good, not too bad, however very small portion.

Very good food, very friending and welcoming. Curry Goat was spiced to perfection. Tucked in at the back of the shop. Hidden gem. Will definitely be going again.
