I loved the food here! There are not many Peruvian food options in San Diego, so this is a nice place to have. The food is packed with flavor. I ordered the Tallarines Verdes and the Saltado Sandwich. Both were seasoned well and tasted like a hearty home cooked meal. The interior of the restuarant was welcoming, clean and colorful. Lastly, the service I received was AMAZING! Alexa helped me on this visit. She was helpful and made the overall experience a memorable one. I can't wait to try more menu items and more sauce combinations. Eat up!!!

DELICIOUS FOOD! I recently moved to California and have been looking for good ceviche for a while now. This is the best ceviche and AUTHENTIC Peruvian food in San Diego. The fish is fresh and well balanced with tons of flavor. The lomo saltado is juicy and well portioned. The entrees taste like home cooked meals and are extremely satisfying. I am so happy with my experience here and I will definitely be going back.

Hands down the best Peruvian restaurant in California! As a Peruvian myself I may attest this place has the authentic flavors every Peruvian-American looks for. Homemade authentic taste, family owned, and friendly staff. Special shout out to our waitress who was very attentive and friendly!🙂🇵🇪 I recommend the cheviche de pescado as a starter. For our enteee we had the Lomo saltado and Ají de gallina. For desert don’t forget to try the Lucuma ice cream (special Peruvian ice cream) and picarones for desert.

My husband and I visited Mama G’s Kitchen and Sauces, and we absolutely loved it! The restaurant is beautifully decorated with touches of Peruvian culture, including llamas, alpacas, flags, and vibrant colors, which makes the atmosphere so fun and authentic. They even put little Peru flags on every dish, which I thought was such a cute detail. We started with the Loaded Yuca appetizer, which was really tasty with their special sauce. For our entrees, my husband had the Lomo Saltado and I had the Tallarines Verdes—both were delicious. For dessert, we had the Lucuma Cheesecake, one of the best desserts I’ve ever tried. We also had a chance to try local Peruvian beers, which were delicious. Highly recommend!

Loved the vibe and flavors at this spot. We grabbed seats at the bar for a laid-back experience and came during happy hour, which was a win. The chicharrón sliders were unreal—the pickled onions, sweet potato, and pork came together for a full flavor moment. The arroz chaufan was also on point, we chose chicken, and it delivered. Service was on point from start to finish. Safe to say, this place is officially in the repeat-visit rotation. Next time trying the ceviche.

This place is definitely a must visit to eat authentic Peruvian cuisine in San Diego, California. The portions are more than generous, and the flavor is spot-on. They have their own signature sauces (ají) 🌶️ 🫑 and plenty of traditional desserts to go or eat at the restaurant. You must try the beef heart ❤️ which is called "anticuchos" in Perú 🇵🇪 also, they have maracuyá (passion fruit) cheesecake and lúcuma cheesecake & ice cream 🍨 as well as alfajores to go.

Absolutely incredible! The flavors here are out of this world — every dish tastes fresh, vibrant, and authentic. The ceviche was perfectly tangy and bursting with flavor, and the presentation was beautiful. The staff and the owner were warm, attentive, and made us feel like family. You can tell they put their heart into the food and the service. This is hands-down the best Peruvian food I’ve had in San Diego . Can’t wait to come back!

“The chaufa rice with seafood, chicken, and meat was outstanding. Everything was cooked perfectly, well seasoned, and balanced. The mix of proteins with the rice was delicious and made the dish very hearty. Highly recommend!”

The chicha morada was really good. I liked my aji de gallina and my husband loved his spicy lomo sliders. The fried yuca was also great. The only downside was that the chairs, at least the ones outside, were those metal cafe chairs that pinch your butt if you aren't skinny, and can be unbearable if you're plus sized. We really enjoyed our meal here and will come back for more soon.

Heard about this place on Instagram and wanted to check it out. The bf and I came down for lunch and shared the following: Chupe de camarones, a creamy shrimp chowder - tasty with a good amount of shrimp Loaded Yuca with steak - meat was tender, the sauces were flavorful and the yuca was crisp. This was a good amount of food for the two of us since yuca is a heavy starch. The service was good and friendly. It's some of the best Peruvian food we've had in a while. We'll be back to try more things for sure. We sat on the patio which is covered and it was a pleasant day.

"LOST IN THE SAUCE" (4.5 stars) Excellent Peruvian food! - FOOD: yum - PRICE: fair - SERVICE: average - AMBIANCE: gem off a beaten path Good Peruvian and will be my go-to spot in SD proper. Its location is off a beaten path... the road behind Benihana's and don't trust Google Maps because it will take you to rock climbing. The restaurant is in the corner and very cute and cozy with indoor and outdoor seating. :: ORDER :: CHICHA MORADA ($4.66) - made from purple corn. Not too sweet, earthy, and refreshing all in a sip. HIGHLY RECOMMEND LOMO SALTADO ($17.60) - Peruvian stir-fry featuring of beef or another protein with onion, tomatoes, and vibrant spices. Served over a bed of fluffy white rice, and crispy French Fries. Had the beef (top sirloin) version and it was well executed! The beef was cut in nice thin bite size pieces. Very tender and flavorful! The ratio of ingredients in the stir fry were equivalent so every bite all the flavors married beautifully together and tasted perfectly. The fries were the skinnier fries and they indeed were crispy (not soggy!) and added that layer of crunchiness needed when eating anything with rice and a meal that can be saucy. The rice wasn't just white rice, it had a buttery taste to it. Such an amazing plate that I could have easily gone for seconds - the portions are decent kind of on the smaller side. HIGHLY RECOMMEND I will be back! (very) SOON!

This a cozy restaurant, there arr gre tables inside and there are more tables in their terrace. The service was very good and parking is on the street although it looks like you can park in the lot of the offices in front of the restaurant but I suggest asking before. We ordered: Lomo saltado.- good flavor but very salty, the dish would be very good if they can fix the salt issue. Fettuccini husicana.- this good flavors were balanced. Peruvian Cheese Burger.- good. I like it and the portions are ok but hopefully they fix the salt issue.

Stumbled upon this spot because it was walking distance from our hotel. I saw their sign while looking for parking earlier in the day and knew I had to try their Peruvian food. We came by later in the evening after already having dinner, so we grabbed seats at the bar and ordered a couple pisco sours. The staff was so kind and genuinely welcoming. We ordered a couple empanadas with our drinks and settled in to watch the UFC fights. The vibe was relaxed and fun, and we ended up staying after hours with the bartender and a small group to finish the fights. The owner, Gloria, even came by to say hello. There was something really warm about the whole experience, like hanging out at a friend's place rather than a restaurant. We felt at home here and definitely look forward to returning to explore their Peruvian dishes next time.

A friend and I came here on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 PM. They have both covered outdoor seating and indoor seating, and the place is absolutely adorable. The decor is thoughtful and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly. We even met the owner who was very social and took the time to chat with us, which made the experience feel even more personal. We ordered a few dishes to share: *Empanadas: You get two, and we chose one chicken and one beef. The beef was my favorite. These are not your typical empanadas. They're huge, generously stuffed with protein, and the sauce they come with is absolutely delicious. *Aji de Gallina: This was my favorite dish. The sauce was creamy, but not heavy at all, and we were told it's made with olive oil. It paired perfectly with the chicken over rice and had such a unique, comforting flavor. *Lomo Saltado: This was my friend's favorite. I really enjoyed it as well, though it didn't stand out to me as much as the other dishes, which is why I preferred the Aji de Gallina. Still very flavorful and well prepared. We opted for yuca fries instead of regular fries for a slightly healthier option, which was an additional $2. Overall, everything was delicious. Even though we definitely ate a lot, we didn't leave feeling overly stuffed. The food tasted fresh, clean, and well balanced, not heavy or overly salty. They also have two TVs so we were able to sit outside and watch the game, which was a nice bonus. I would absolutely come back. Great food, phenomenal service, and a super cute spot with unique dishes that really stand out.

The space is cozy and welcoming, with a charming patio and comfortable indoor seating. Service was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind -- the kind that makes you want to come back again and again. And don't skip the drinks. They truly feel like a mini trip to Peru! I also love that they offer vegan, keto, and gluten-free options, so everyone at the table can enjoy something amazing without compromise. Friendly staff and cute ambiance. Their empanadas are delicious. Both beef and chicken. The sauce is awesome. We had the aji de galina and Lomo Saltado. We ordered the steak and substituted the fries and had yuca instead. The food was good I just wasn't a fan of the seasoning. I would give it a try on other dishes.

Right there in mission valley near Benihanas. We ordered to go. The carne chaufa was very good. The Peruvian style ceviche was very good! Will definitely go back.

Our next stop was SanDiego, so I checked with my fellow yelpers for recommendations. Found this Peruvian place Enroute. We had no problem with street parking, but this is on a Wednesday, late afternoon. We got a little confused about where to enter, so look for the friendly Llama on the service ramp. We were quickly greeted and seated inside (our request). I got an Inka cola and my hubby got the chicha . Has a sip and it was good. We both ordered the chicharonne sandwiches which came with fries. I also ordered a side of plantains. The plantains arrived first. It was hot and delicious. The chicharrones were very good. I would only suggest the sweet potatoes be cooked a little more. Although not raw, it tasted a little al dente where it should be a bit softer. Didn't detract from the taste, just an observation. You have to try it to see if you agree. Our waitress was excellent! She was sweet, quick and considerate. Making sure we had everything we needed and keeping us aware how long to wait (not very long). We appreciated her hospitality and hope to visit again. If you like Peruvian food (and who doesn't), you have to try this place. This is close to work offices so maybe parking is available there if street parking isn't. This place is worth the walk.

This is the place to go for amazing house-made sauces, and bold, authentic Peruvian dishes. Every dish here feels like a Peruvian home cooked meal!. We tried: * Empanadas * ceviche de pescado *Fried plantains * Arroz con Pollo * Lomo Saltado * Pollo de brasa * Maracuya (passionfruit drink) * dragon fruit margarita So delicious you need to check it out ASAP! The service was very friendly and it had a relaxed vibe.

Absolutely love Peruvian food. Went to Mama G's with friends. This is a small restaurant. We ate outside and it was very comfortable. I had chupe de camarones and a salad. I love chupe and this was perfect. My friend had the special stuffed potato. It was excellent and huge. My other friend had arroz chaufa. She said it was great. Our server was perfect! What a delight.

This month's team lunch was at Mama G's. Friendly llama greeted us at the entrance. I was tempted by the fried chicken wings but decided to stick with the Peruvian options. I ordered the steak fried rice and added shrimp. Plantains were soft and sweet. Rice was moist and had a tasty wok flavor. Good amount of eggs with a scrambled egg flavor. Steak was tender and juicy. Shrimp was plump and had a nice shrimp flavor. Excellent meat to rice ratio filled me up. Great tasting dish but next time I'll ask for them to go easy on the green onions. The owners running the show were nice and provided excellent customer service.

I wanted to try a new cuisine and landed on Peruvian at Mama G's per recommendation. Good service and clean restaurant (nice patio!). Parking is street parking only, so it can be difficult depending on when you go. I got the Peruvian Sampler as well as a cup of Chupe De Camarones. The portion size was fine and the price was average. My favorite was the Chupe De Camarones. Flavorful and hearty. Yucca fries were SPOT ON! Ceviche was good. I thought the mini causa was alright, but it may just be my personal taste preferences and not the cooking itself. I did not really care for the papa a la huancaina. The sauce wasn't tasty to me but I can't put my finger on what it was. It kind of tasted like canned jalapeño queso that goes with cheap nachos.

As a daughter of a Peruvian and having been in Peru quite a few times I had to try this restaurant. Finally a great Peruvian Restaurant in San Diego. Went there for lunch on a Wednesday so it was not packed. Lots of parking in the parking lot or street parking. There are a few tables outside and inside. Ambiance was relax and the place was nicely decorated with it's Peruvian flair and since it was close to Valentine's Day decor for the ocassion was also added. We ordered to drink the Peruvian Signature Chicha Morada made there. Delicious! Like it should taste with that perfect lime touch. For Food we ordered the Yuca Fries, Ceviche de Pescado, Tallarin Saltado con Pollo (chicken) and dessert Picarones made fresh! Another staple in Peru but not all restaurants make them and here they do! Every dish was prepared exactly how it should be and tasted real authentic Peruvian. Took me back to the last time I was in Peru. Definitely will be my spot to go a lot! My friend had never tried Peruvian Food and he was in heaven with how delicious it was.

Been craving Aji de gallina and oh my god did it satisfy! Taste's exactly how I remember. Salty, savory, rich, and delicious. My all time fav Peruvian dish next to their ceviche de pescado, those two are usually my go to. This time, I was curious about the fettuccine havancaina so I went with that. After mixing, it was heavenly! Creamy and flavorful. Very similar to the aji. The steak was a nice touch. There's so many other things I wanna try on their menu, so I'll definitely be back. I highly recommend those two dishes.

Sometimes yelp really lets me down and this is one of those times. I was super excited to come here after reading the reviews, but it was a complete let down. The dough from the empanadas wasn't fully cooked. I ordered the aji de gallina and it was pure salt. No other flavor to be found. My friend ordered the lomo saltado with fries and 90% of her small plate was fries with overcooked meat. The service was ok and so was the ambiance. Restaurants need to do better and be consistent if they're going to be charging these high prices. To spend $70 on such a mediocre meal is a huge disappointment.

Best Peruvian I've ever had in San Diego This place has good yellow sauce and also good spicy sauces. The server is really good about matching the best sauce with your dish. We got a red pepper one and a cilantro one that were both delicious. I think I leaned a little more towards the cilantro because it's fresh and a little bit spicier but in all realness, ate all of both. I ordered the fettuccine huancaina with steak and it was delicious. Very good portion. The wait staff were super nice and the owner was also very nice. The place is in a cute small locations with indoor and outdoor seating near the old TGI Friday in Mission Valley. I can't wait to come back and try more because the dishes my friends ordered also looked great.

Low stars are from last nights visit. It's a group opinion since those we invited don't have yelp. See my other reviews. We will still invite people here and to our beloved Peruvian restaurants here in SD. Heres our experience. $$$$ Their prices have increased a lot this year AND the now higher listed menu price is actually even higher once on your bill. Only a $1 or $2 more so we didn't mention it, but the size of each dish is a lot smaller now. Ex: The soups are half the size as a year ago but now more than doubled the price. Parking remains a HUGE issue with no solution. Only street parking. You gotta wait for someone to leave to get a spot. So be prepared to wait a while. We always call ahead to check hrs. Coming from the zoo we asked and they said no problem as long as we get there by 8:15. We got there 8, yay! No parking BOO. So most of us got out to start being seated while my husband did the back n forth & a friend in another car as well until spots opened up on the street. We had to wait for a table to open up. No problem at all because we understand they are a small restaurant & full. We had the time and they had said they'd still serve us so we waited a while. That's understandable. And accommodating. It's Peruvian food, it's worth the wait! Our favorite waitress was there too. She was busy so we got the guys but they were nice as well. Our friends were there so eventually the men added a couple small tables to our friends' table. Except the men didn't clean them from last customers. They were with dirty papers, some crumbs n meat, & drink rings. Gross! We had to ask them back to please clean it. It gets worse. A man wiped it, but only half, then shook his rag & the gross contents dropped out into the two silverware/napkin containers. Yikes! Dirty pieces of paper, hair & a piece of meat were sitting on the napkins in the silverware containers. He walked off. It was really gross. We brought it discreetly to his attention & he saw the remnants & just grabbed the napkins & shook them out to the side & put them back, then walked away. We cleaned the part of the table the gentleman had missed & got the lady server attention & she immediately understood & discreetly replaced both containers. but hadn't brought that to her attention, was no need, that we could do on our own. No big deal. So glad she replaced it and she too was discreet. It's an oversight that I hope isn't common. It had us all wanting to unsee that gross moment. We carried on, it was fixed. Huiancina sauce is absolutely delicious but literally is hard to enjoy because the potatoes are so uncooked. This is unfortunately a consistent issue here. Soups still just ok. 4 ppl tried soup, only one (my husband) said he'd get it again. Rest said they would not. Causa is yummy. I shared it and others agreed. Ceviche was full of black pepper, that was very odd. Wasnt good this time, two other ppl also didn't like it. Fried yuca was delicious with their amazing sauces. The pasta verde n pollo was tasteless. Weve gotten it here with steak & it was good. Not sure what happened this time but it was tasteless. No one liked it. Hubby got arroz con pollo... that's their best plate. Chicken yet again cooked nicely. However the rice had a zing to it this time... like a vinegar n lime kick. That's not normally the taste. Chicken didn't have that zing. It was tender & had great flavor. Salchipapas stole the show. It always does. Seriously if you've not tried theirs, you are missing out. THE best fries we've ALL ever had. That says a lot! I know some may skip this dish but try it & then you'll never skip it again. We always order it with no sauce on it, serve sauces on the side. We explain this each time. Male server brought it sauced, then remembered & replaced it. He forgot a few things like inca kola etc but nicely apologized saying ok yes I remember now. We've all made mistakes and this certainly wasn't anything major at all. Chicha was good. We got a pitcher of it and of Pasión fruit but it was a no from most our group. Kids seemed to of liked their burger n fries. Of course the fries, this place has perfected making fried, no exaggeration. Workers were nice. We've learned what's best here. We will repeat and still invite many others. It's super close to the zoo where we have membership. The lady server is the BEST server ever! Go and enjoy the consistently BEST fries ever.

New Peruvian place located in Mission Valley! Great food and great experience getting to chat with the staff members including THE Mama G herself! You see her working hard all over the restaurant and still had the time to talk to her customers. Environment: Street parking only but we didn't have trouble finding a spot on a Saturday afternoon. The place is on the smaller side and it gets PACKED. We learned that they currently don't take any reservations so come early to put your name down. They have a patio, a bar, and indoor seating. Saw a party of 8 come in but had to wait a bit. There was a TV inside. Food: -Choros a La Chalaca (6/$12): mussels with toppings including Peruvian corn. Perfect appetizers for 2 people and the mussels were decent size -Loma Saltado ($23) + sauce flight ($2): served with rice and fries; choice between chicken, top sirloin, or portobello with mixed veggies. I opted for the top sirloin. Meat was so tender. I highly recommend getting the sauce flight if it's your first time! They have 4 signature sauces made fresh in house: 2 spicy and 2 regular (I forgot what the sauces were made off) but they were delicious. -Pan con Chicharon ($19): served with fries; choice between mild or spicy. My husband enjoyed this meal. Overall: Great good with great service! Highly recommend coming in maybe at an off time just in case the wait is too long. Try the sauces!

First off, the food here was 5/5. The Peruvian spaghetti and steak were phenomenal and I'd come back here just to have this again. The patio dining area is cute, and everyone was very friendly and polite. The reason why I don't give it 5 stars is the service. It is very slow. We arrived about 30 min after they had opened, there were only 2 other tables with patrons, and it still took a good 45 to be seated, get our orders taken and then food brought out. As time went on, the place got very busy and wait times were lengthy. We finished our meals and were ready to go, but the server took a long while to bring us the tab. This place is fairly new, and I don't think their staff are well trained enough to handle the challenges that come with a busy restaurant. It looks like it's mostly still family members running it, and they need professional wait staff to speed service up, cut wait times and turn tables more efficiently.

My friends and I wanted to check out Peruvian food, and this restaurant's food looked really good online. We had plans after so we weren't able to have time to dine in. I placed an order over the phone, and they estimated 15 minutes. When I got there a little over 15 minutes after my call, all of my food was already neatly packed and still hot. The service was efficient and friendly. We ordered: -Tallarin Saltado with Steak ($18.63): This was our collective favorite. It is Peruvian stir fried noodles with soy sauce, onions, and tomatoes. and it tasted so hearty. -The Lomo Saltado with Steak ($17.60) was also delicious. It had the same components and flavor as the Tallarin Saltado, but instead of noodles, there were rice and fries. This was also delicious and quite filling. -Arroz Con Pollo ($17.60): pan fried rice with chicken and potatoes on the side. This chicken was moist and flavorful. -Arroz Chaufa with Shrimp ($17.60): Peruvian stir fried rice with soy sauce and eggs. The shrimp was a great addition since for most of our entrees, we chose steak. -Tallarines Verdes with Steak: pasta with basil and spinach sauce. The four of us all enjoyed all of the entrees, and were quite stuffed. We even had leftovers. I would definitely return for more takeout in the future, and also I would love to dine in next time when I have more time.

Came in for lunch and I'm sooo glad we did the pollo saltado was AMAZING. It had a char grilled chicken flavor service was great. It def tasted authentic and the spicy sauce was so spicy and creamy how it's supposed to be. The empanadas were cold and the bread part wasn't flaky and crispy. It was pillow soft and it had a sweet after taste. I would def skip next time around the sauce and lime made it better but just overall not what I'd prefer. Parking is limited and it's in a random location. Aside from that absolutely loved this place and would def return to try more menu items.

Went here for lunch on a weekday in October and we were blown away with the great service and delicious Peruvian food. The owner was there and she was super nice. The restaurant was quite empty. I don't think many people know about this place yet. The food was really flavorful and we finished everything on our plates. We will be back!

Holy cow, this place is incredible. Authentic Peruvian cuisine and drinks. Staff was beyond friendly and attentive. We got the Peruvian Sampler, Tallarines Verdes, Arroz Chaufa and the sauce flight. The sampler was a wonderful start and really well made. The two entrees are MORE than enough food for two people each. We took home enough for lunch and dinner tomorrow! The sauces are, of course, super flavorful and tasty. Highly recommend for meat eaters and vegetarians alike! I'm just sad we didn't get the alfajores for dessert!

Cute little hidden gem off hotel circle with a nice outdoor patio area and open bar area The server who created me was super friendly and helpful The food was delicious. The pork on my pan con chicharron sandwich was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Watch out for the sauce. It looks creamy but the spicy is definitely spicy. The yams in the sandwich do a nice job balancing the heat

I was craving Peruvian green sauce pasta and was pleased to see that Mama G's had them. However, while I want to come back and try other items on their menu, I don't recommend the green pasta with steak. The restaurant is tucked away behind some hotels in a corporate area. I overshot when driving and ended up lost around the nearby Mesa rim. Once I found the storefront, I was charmed by the large stuffed llama by the entrance. I ordered ahead and got takeout, and I got my food quickly. The restaurant was well decorated with cute patio seating, and already pretty busy. I was surprised by the pricing though. I had ordered the pasta with steak as my protein, as well as a sauce flight. While I expected a price bump for the steak, nowhere on the menu did it list the price, I ordered by phone and not online, so I was taken aback when my total was $26. When I got home, I opened the box and was met with a MASSIVE portion of pasta, some potatoes, and the steak on top. The pasta itself was a bit bland and the noodles slightly too soft, and the sauce looked nicer than it tasted. The potatoes were well cooked and soft inside. The steak was way too tough, which was a bummer. Perhaps it's because I ordered it as takeout and the residual heat cooked the steak to well-done. The sauces were really excellent, very flavorful. My favorite was the house spicy sauce. It was actually spicy and the cilantro taste is perfect. While the food I got was not entirely to my tastes, there are several other items on the menu I would like to try. I'd also like a bigger container of that spicy house sauce!

Randomly saw this place near the climbing gym and was excited to try since we used to buy their sauce (which is bomb and they sell it here) from farmers markets. My wife and I ordered the tallarin verdes, mussels, and lomo saltado. All the dishes were well flavored and balanced. The mussels were almost like mini ceviche shooters in a shell. Nice and refreshing The tallarin verdes was a heavy pesto like sauce. Flavorful and we squeeze a bit of lime on it for a better balance. The steak was perfectly season and cooked juicy We opted for a salad with the lomo saltado since we had fries earlier that day. Steak was just as it was in the pasta well seasoned and well cooked. And everything was enjoyed with their famous sauce. Service was helpful and friendly and their little patio was cozy on a brisk sunny day!

We came here for the first time a little after they opened and glad we did because we beat the rush! We were seated right away on the patio which was heated. Our waiter provided great customer service as he got to know us and provided a few recommendations such as the chicha and maracuya beverages. We ordered those house made drinks, chicken empanadas, lomo saltado, and Tallarin saltado. Everything came out quick and was DELICIOUS. Will definitely come back and buy some of their sauce!

My coworker and I had the pleasure of having lunch here yesterday. Both the food and service were amazing. This is absolutely a hidden gem that I am incredibly happy that I came across by accident. The food is absolutely delicious, perfectly spiced, and served very quickly. As an added bonus, the portions are generous. We will definitely be back again... And often!

What an amazing spot. The ambiance is fantastic. We sat at the bar and ordered food to go. Good music, nice screen with the padres game on; the cozy hustle and bustle of families and employees talking and laughing. It was great. The food was fantastic. Best Lomo Saltado I've had. The steak was tender and the fries were perfect. The arroz chaufa was also fantastic flavor and a great portion. Will 100% be back here, God willing, and will bring friends

Tried this restaurant on a weekend and had a great experience. The dishes were authentic and full of flavor. The ceviche was incredibly fresh with just the right amount of citrus and the lomo saltado was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Their chicha morada drink was refreshing and not too sweet. Service was great with lots of seating area. It was nice to see the owner walking around, greeting customers and making sure everyone was enjoying their meal. This is a great restaurant for anyone who enjoys peruvian food or wants to try something new.

Gloria (la dueña y mi amiga) y todo su equipo son tan amables, atentos y buena onda que de verdad te hacen sentir como en casa, como si fueras parte de la familia. Ahora vamos con la comida El ceviche con su chicharrón de calamar y arroz blanco: ¡otra cosa! El ceviche estaba fresco, con el punto exacto de limón, la cebollita crocante y ese toquecito de ají que te hace decir "¡Carajo qué rico!". Pero ya con el chicharrón al lado y mi arroz blanco (mi favorito siempre) se convierte en un manjar celestial. Ají de gallina: mi plato favorito desde siempre, y aquí lo preparan como en Perú, con cremita espesita, el puntazo de ají amarillo, su huevito duro y su arroz blanco. Me hizo viajar directo a Lima en el primer bocado. El trío buenazo: ojo, no está en el menú, pero pregunten por él que se los preparan. Es una bomba de sabor con variedad de platillos clásicos peruanos en un solo plato. Perfecto para los que, como yo, queremos probar de todo. En resumen, si están en San Diego y les provoca comida peruana auténtica, con sazón casera y un ambiente lleno de cariño, vayan a Mama G's. Gloria y su gente te reciben con los brazos abiertos y con platos que de verdad te hacen sentir orgulloso de ser peruano.

This is a long overdue review. Went to MamaG's after climbing at Mesa Rim. We were seated on the patio with Alexa, who was a fantastic server. She was very attentive and made some good recommendations. Overall we loved the ambiance, the food met our expectations and the family service was very much appreciated. We met the baby girl of the family and she made our morning more lively. We will be returning to see Alexa and to get the ceviche and Passionfruit Cheesecake once more, Thank You!!

My entire family has been a huge fan of Mama G's sauces for years. We would buy them at the local farmers markets monthly to replenish our supplies. We were extremely excited to hear when Mama G opened up her own restaurant! I checked out the new spot in mission valley on a weekend and it was great! It's the perfect spot for a nice lunch outside. I shared the chicken sandwich and yuca fries and they were both really delicious, and of course we had to have the original mama G sauce on the side!

It's so nice to have a tasty peruvian place nearby. The service is very friendly. Our server was a really helpful and accommodating person. We sat outside at one of several shady tables. The menu is pretty standard though I wish they had pollo a la brass. We ordered the large house salad, ceviche, and the aji de gallina. The salad was large enough for two and the veggies were fresh. The dressing was tasty and seemed house made. The ceviche was also very good. The aji was good but did not have quite enough chicken. Next time i come i'd ask for no potatoes and extra chicken. The potatoes felt unnecessary given the rice that came with the dish.. The waitress was kind enough to bring me some salsa criolla to try. It was yummy! overall this was a very nice experience. The only negative was that the chicken hadn't been prepped so it took quite a long time to arrive at the table.

How lucky we are to be staying at a hotel within walking distance to this fantastic restaurant. I'm not an expert on Peruvian food, but since discovering it several years back I eat it whenever possible. Mama G's is the best I've had yet. Fantastic dishes and we took the desserts home with us, all of which were also crazy good. I had the pork belly sandwich and a bowl of their shrimp/corn/egg chowder. Both were incredible. And the folks who waited on us were so kind...I'm probably going back tonight for another awesome meal. The restaurant space itself is perfect, too. Decorated nicely and just a really chill place to sit down for a meal. Don't miss this spot!

My family took me for my birthday lunch. We've never had Peruvian food before. It was delicious and the service staff was excellent! We will most certainly return

This place is very good. We've been looking for a local Peruvian place because Nazca closed over a decade ago and our go-to in Orange County also closed. We've only been able to go in the weekends because it's a little out of the way for us to go during the week. By the way, try the alfajores and passion fruit juice. They're amazing!!! The only complaints I have is that when we went my husband's dish came out much later than expected. I felt really bad and he let me eat my dish because he didn't want my food to get cold; by the time his food came out I was halfway done with my meal. The waitress was apologetic and offered us a discount, which we appreciated, although it wasn't reflected in our bill (but we don't expect it, anyway). Also it's kind of expensive to eat here, but you can say that about a lot of restaurants these days. Definitely recommend coming here and we'll try to go again!

Mama G's has maintained a presence at local farmers markets until recently opening a brick-and-mortar eatery in Mission Valley. They took over a space where a short-lived café/market had operated. From the standpoints of access and visibility, the location near the end of a cul de sac wasn't optimal. Only curbside parking along Camino del Rio South was available. A central bar with stools arranged both inside and outside the structure was the featured seating. Several tables were also set up outside under a covered front patio. Gloria, the matriarch, and her sons run the operation. The current menu was a sheet of offerings based on Peruvian family recipes that had been handed down over the decades. Eight appetizers and eight entrees were the main categories along with two choices each of burgers, salads, and sandwiches. Three desserts rounded out the items. From a cost perspective, everything was quite affordable with nothing priced more than $18. I chose a Causa Rellena with chicken (versus tuna) for an appetizer. This was a classic chilled lime and potato cake mixed with shredded white chicken meat and topped with a hard boiled egg slice, avocado, diced tomatoes, and crema. It was beautifully plated by the kitchen. A cup of dipping sauce was provided on the side, but it wasn't needed because the item already had sufficient flavor. To complete my meal, I selected a Loma Saltado with sirloin (versus chicken or portobello mushroom). This traditional Peruvian stir fry contained red onion, tomato, cilantro, and green onions that were sautéed in soy sauce, vinegar, and spices. Some french fries were mixed in while a mound of white rice was added to one side of the dish. Another cup of the same dipping sauce was provided, but I didn't know why. The flavor of the sautée liquid was on point. What could have used improvement was tenderness to the slices of meat. More fries would have been a nice touch too. After the staff has obtained more experience during the soft opening period, I hope they can expand the business hours. With a 7:30 pm closing time on Tuesday through Thursday, it can be challenging to navigate rush hour traffic and arrive at this end of Mission Valley without feeling hurried. For now, I gave a four star rating for my recent dinner at Mama G's Kitchen & Sauce.

Can't say enough good things about this place. The vibe, the staff, THE FOOD...seriously one of the best hidden gems in San Diego. We try to order different things to try, and so far everything has been phenomenal but we always get the ceviche hands down. The sampler is also a must if you want a little bit of variety. Came here during Lunch. My wife was craving Peruvian food and on my Yelp search it showed " MAMA G's Kitchen & Sauce ". We've seen them before but not as a restaurant but in the Farmers Market selling Peruvian Sauces, and we are glad to know that they have a restaurant now. It's only 10 minutes away from home so we drove there right away. When we arrived, we found parking on the side streets in front of the restaurant. They have 2 entrances left and right of the restaurant. They have an indoor and outdoor seating area and we chose their outdoor seating. Got the menu, a few that we wanted were not available at the time like the Causa and Tallarin Verdes, they are still in their soft opening so that's very understandable. My wife did the order, we had Ceviche De Pescado, Lomo Saltado, and Tallarin de Rez . Their Ceviche is just what we wanted in a Ceviche not too citrusy. Their Lomo Saltado has a good Peruvian sauce, the meats are good and even the Tomato on their Lomo Saltado was very tasty. Their Tallarin Saltado is different from what we had in other Peruvian restaurant. Their noodles here are flat noodles like those with Fettuccini. It was good but very light in sauce. But adding the sauce on the side made this Tallarin Saltado very good. The Alfajores are not heavy on the sweet, it's a good dessert. Service is on point, Gloria and his Boys who are helping her out with the services are friendly and polite with good customer service. The place is not decorated yet coz they are still in their Soft opening but they said soon they are gonna paint the walls with murals and more. I can't wait to come back for that and their Delicious food.

DELICIOUS!!!!!! The food was flavorful and in the right quantities. This was our official first time tasting Peruvian food and let's say we became fans. We tried the chicken soup and it was lemony with bursting corn flavor. We also tried the stack ( forgot the name) with chicken and WOW. It didn't overwhelm with flavor, it was perfectly balance and something we will get again. The house salad with the house dressing was delicious and spicy! Also the arroz con leche taste homemade and made us feel so cozy and comforted. The chicken was tender and flavorful along with the soft and juicy rice. The Lucuma ice cream wowed us. It tasted like slight of a sweet potato. Recommend that nuts be added to this ice cream, but other than that would recommend the ice cream here. Excited to come back and try some of the favorites and new favorites!

Food is delicious and fresh. The service is excellent. The restaurant is nice and clean definitely will go again whenever in the area.

I have been to this hidden little gem twice now, both visits were amazing. It's hidden just south of I 8 along Hotel Circle. The food is amazing, the flavors are fresh and pop. We had the Chupe De Camerones soup. Chicharron sliders, pork tamale, and Lucuma Ice Cream. Service is good, quick and friendly. We sat outside on the patio, there was a nice breeze to help beat the heat. They are famous for the "Mama G's" sauces and they are fantastic. The spicy sauce isn't just hot, it carries a good amount of flavor as well. I suggest you go and try This little hideout. You will not be disappointed and will find a new location to go to good authentic food.
