Absolutely incredible! The flavors here are out of this world — every dish tastes fresh, vibrant, and authentic. The ceviche was perfectly tangy and bursting with flavor, and the presentation was beautiful. The staff and the owner were warm, attentive, and made us feel like family. You can tell they put their heart into the food and the service. This is hands-down the best Peruvian food I’ve had in San Diego . Can’t wait to come back!

Wow!!! We just discovered this incredible hidden gem. Absolutely authentic, tasty, and beautifully prepared! The ceviche was superb - tangy and so fresh. We also tried the loaded yucca fries and the Causa Acevichada. Both were delish! Mama G (Gloria) was just wonderful and has poured her heart and soul into this delightful little piece of her native Peru channeled her Mama's great culinary traditions. Thanks also to our great server, Alexa, who gave us great suggestions - good tip on the sauce flight for the meal and those tasty hot sweet Picarones for dessert. Watch out for those super spicy red peppers 🌶 - they will get you😬 - but my husband loved the spicy variations. We'll be back! I'm low carb and a certified nutritionist and was delighted that there were so many great options for Carnivore and low carb, but also veggie options for the vegetarians as well. (the yuca and picarones were well worth it for my total daily net carbs!)

Mama G’s Kitchen & Sauces is an absolute gem! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm, friendly vibes and the smell of amazing Peruvian flavors. The star of my meal was the shrimp ceviche—so fresh, zesty, and perfectly balanced, it’s hands-down the best I’ve had in San Diego. Every bite was bursting with flavor and you can taste the quality in every ingredient. This place feels like home, but with flavors that take you straight to Peru!

Google
New Peruvian place located in Mission Valley! Great food and great experience getting to chat with the staff members including THE Mama G herself! You see her working hard all over the restaurant and still had the time to talk to her customers. Environment: Street parking only but we didn’t have trouble finding a spot on a Saturday afternoon. The place is on the smaller side and it gets PACKED. We learned that they currently don’t take any reservations so come early to put your name down. They have a patio, a bar, and indoor seating. Saw a party of 8 come in but had to wait a bit. There was a TV inside. Food: -Choros a La Chalaca (6/$12): mussels with toppings including Peruvian corn. Perfect appetizers for 2 people and the mussels were decent size -Loma Saltado ($23) + sauce flight ($2): served with rice and fries; choice between chicken, top sirloin, or portobello with mixed veggies. I opted for the top sirloin. Meat was so tender. I highly recommend getting the sauce flight if it’s your first time! They have 4 signature sauces made fresh in house: 2 spicy and 2 regular (I forgot what the sauces were made off) but they were delicious. -Pan con Chicharon ($19): served with fries; choice between mild or spicy. My husband enjoyed this meal. Overall: Great good with great service! Highly recommend coming in maybe at an off time just in case the wait is too long. Try the sauces!

It was our first time eating prouvian food. We loved it, especially their chicken that comes in the yellow creamy sauce (Aji de Gallina). Also, the purple drink (fermented purple corn) had a new taste for me.

Google
Holy cow, this place is incredible. Authentic Peruvian cuisine and drinks. Staff was beyond friendly and attentive. We got the Peruvian Sampler, Tallarines Verdes, Arroz Chaufa and the sauce flight. The sampler was a wonderful start and really well made. The two entrees are MORE than enough food for two people each. We took home enough for lunch and dinner tomorrow! The sauces are, of course, super flavorful and tasty. Highly recommend for meat eaters and vegetarians alike! I'm just sad we didn't get the alfajores for dessert!

Google
Giving this my Peruvian stamp! This place was SERIOUS business. The food was phenomenal and going back on my birthday next week. I got an Arroz Chaufa (peruvian fried rice) with fried plantains and my partner got a Lomo Saltado with Yucca fries. I personally don’t like Yucca fries, but these Yucca fries were the real thing. My Arroz Chaufa was so flavorful and authentic. They started off selling sauces then they became a restaurant. The sauces are finger licking good! I ordered some to go for my leftovers. Service was great, but place is a bit small if you have a big party over 6. Call to make a reservation! Coming back very soon

Google
The ceviche, yucca fries and chicha morada drink was delicious! The restaurant is tucked away in Mission Valley so you avoid the crowds so you can enjoy a peaceful meal. The staff was so attentive and polite. We’ll definitely be back 🙌

Yelp
Tried Mama G's for the first time, and it did not disappoint. The ambiance was great. Real cozy spot with many cute Peruvian themes/decorations. The staff were very friendly as well. The tallarines Verdes was very tasty, with a wonderful basil and spinach pesto over perfectly cooked spaghetti. The lomo saltado was delicious as well, with wonderful steak and veggies, which paired great with their mild hot sauce (which was a star player). The food took a little while to come out (around 30 minutes), but you can't rush quality.

Yelp
I have been to this hidden little gem twice now, both visits were amazing. It's hidden just south of I 8 along Hotel Circle. The food is amazing, the flavors are fresh and pop. We had the Chupe De Camerones soup. Chicharron sliders, pork tamale, and Lucuma Ice Cream. Service is good, quick and friendly. We sat outside on the patio, there was a nice breeze to help beat the heat. They are famous for the "Mama G's" sauces and they are fantastic. The spicy sauce isn't just hot, it carries a good amount of flavor as well. I suggest you go and try This little hideout. You will not be disappointed and will find a new location to go to good authentic food.

Yelp
I wanted to try a new cuisine and landed on Peruvian at Mama G's per recommendation. Good service and clean restaurant (nice patio!). Parking is street parking only, so it can be difficult depending on when you go. I got the Peruvian Sampler as well as a cup of Chupe De Camarones. The portion size was fine and the price was average. My favorite was the Chupe De Camarones. Flavorful and hearty. Yucca fries were SPOT ON! Ceviche was good. I thought the mini causa was alright, but it may just be my personal taste preferences and not the cooking itself. I did not really care for the papa a la huancaina. The sauce wasn't tasty to me but I can't put my finger on what it was. It kind of tasted like canned jalapeño queso that goes with cheap nachos.

Yelp

Yelp
This month's team lunch was at Mama G's. Friendly llama greeted us at the entrance. I was tempted by the fried chicken wings but decided to stick with the Peruvian options. I ordered the steak fried rice and added shrimp. Plantains were soft and sweet. Rice was moist and had a tasty wok flavor. Good amount of eggs with a scrambled egg flavor. Steak was tender and juicy. Shrimp was plump and had a nice shrimp flavor. Excellent meat to rice ratio filled me up. Great tasting dish but next time I'll ask for them to go easy on the green onions. The owners running the show were nice and provided excellent customer service.

Yelp
Been craving Aji de gallina and oh my god did it satisfy! Taste's exactly how I remember. Salty, savory, rich, and delicious. My all time fav Peruvian dish next to their ceviche de pescado, those two are usually my go to. This time, I was curious about the fettuccine havancaina so I went with that. After mixing, it was heavenly! Creamy and flavorful. Very similar to the aji. The steak was a nice touch. There's so many other things I wanna try on their menu, so I'll definitely be back. I highly recommend those two dishes.

Yelp
I was craving Peruvian green sauce pasta and was pleased to see that Mama G's had them. However, while I want to come back and try other items on their menu, I don't recommend the green pasta with steak. The restaurant is tucked away behind some hotels in a corporate area. I overshot when driving and ended up lost around the nearby Mesa rim. Once I found the storefront, I was charmed by the large stuffed llama by the entrance. I ordered ahead and got takeout, and I got my food quickly. The restaurant was well decorated with cute patio seating, and already pretty busy. I was surprised by the pricing though. I had ordered the pasta with steak as my protein, as well as a sauce flight. While I expected a price bump for the steak, nowhere on the menu did it list the price, I ordered by phone and not online, so I was taken aback when my total was $26. When I got home, I opened the box and was met with a MASSIVE portion of pasta, some potatoes, and the steak on top. The pasta itself was a bit bland and the noodles slightly too soft, and the sauce looked nicer than it tasted. The potatoes were well cooked and soft inside. The steak was way too tough, which was a bummer. Perhaps it's because I ordered it as takeout and the residual heat cooked the steak to well-done. The sauces were really excellent, very flavorful. My favorite was the house spicy sauce. It was actually spicy and the cilantro taste is perfect. While the food I got was not entirely to my tastes, there are several other items on the menu I would like to try. I'd also like a bigger container of that spicy house sauce!

Yelp
Mama G's Kitchen truly serves the best Peruvian food in San Diego! Christian recommended chicha. it's perfectly refreshing with a natural sweetness -- so good! And perfectly paired with my dish. I had their special- the fish with mushroom sauce was incredible! The fish was perfectly cooked and tender, topped with a rich, creamy mushroom sauce that was full of flavor but not too heavy. Served with rice, not sure if it's yuka or potatoes and their signature green sauce, every bite was perfection. Their Arroz con Pollo is packed with flavor -- fragrant green rice, juicy grilled chicken, and a creamy, slightly spicy sauce. The fresh onions on top add the perfect crunch. It was so good that my husband wiped his plate clean! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The service is friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. We will def be back with family & friends.

Yelp
My friends and I wanted to check out Peruvian food, and this restaurant's food looked really good online. We had plans after so we weren't able to have time to dine in. I placed an order over the phone, and they estimated 15 minutes. When I got there a little over 15 minutes after my call, all of my food was already neatly packed and still hot. The service was efficient and friendly. We ordered: -Tallarin Saltado with Steak ($18.63): This was our collective favorite. It is Peruvian stir fried noodles with soy sauce, onions, and tomatoes. and it tasted so hearty. -The Lomo Saltado with Steak ($17.60) was also delicious. It had the same components and flavor as the Tallarin Saltado, but instead of noodles, there were rice and fries. This was also delicious and quite filling. -Arroz Con Pollo ($17.60): pan fried rice with chicken and potatoes on the side. This chicken was moist and flavorful. -Arroz Chaufa with Shrimp ($17.60): Peruvian stir fried rice with soy sauce and eggs. The shrimp was a great addition since for most of our entrees, we chose steak. -Tallarines Verdes with Steak: pasta with basil and spinach sauce. The four of us all enjoyed all of the entrees, and were quite stuffed. We even had leftovers. I would definitely return for more takeout in the future, and also I would love to dine in next time when I have more time.

Yelp
A group of us decided to check out Mamas G's for dinner last night and we feel like we discovered a secret little gem! We were seat outside on the patio which had great ambiance with the colorful decor and llama theme. Our waitress was Alexa and she was wonderful. We ordered the empanadas and mussels to start and shared the following entrees: aji de gallina, lomo saltado, fetteccini huancaina, and arroz chaufa with mixed veggies. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The sauces were also fantastic. While we thought we were too full for dessert, we were wrong. We split the lucuma cheesecake which was so good - we had never had anything like it. Safe to safe, we will be back for more!

Yelp
First off, the food here was 5/5. The Peruvian spaghetti and steak were phenomenal and I'd come back here just to have this again. The patio dining area is cute, and everyone was very friendly and polite. The reason why I don't give it 5 stars is the service. It is very slow. We arrived about 30 min after they had opened, there were only 2 other tables with patrons, and it still took a good 45 to be seated, get our orders taken and then food brought out. As time went on, the place got very busy and wait times were lengthy. We finished our meals and were ready to go, but the server took a long while to bring us the tab. This place is fairly new, and I don't think their staff are well trained enough to handle the challenges that come with a busy restaurant. It looks like it's mostly still family members running it, and they need professional wait staff to speed service up, cut wait times and turn tables more efficiently.

Yelp
This place is amazing, the food, the staff, the cute decorations! 10 out of 10! And the dessert was absolutely delicious so dont skimp on that!

Yelp
Came in for lunch and I'm sooo glad we did the pollo saltado was AMAZING. It had a char grilled chicken flavor service was great. It def tasted authentic and the spicy sauce was so spicy and creamy how it's supposed to be. The empanadas were cold and the bread part wasn't flaky and crispy. It was pillow soft and it had a sweet after taste. I would def skip next time around the sauce and lime made it better but just overall not what I'd prefer. Parking is limited and it's in a random location. Aside from that absolutely loved this place and would def return to try more menu items.

Yelp
What an amazing spot. The ambiance is fantastic. We sat at the bar and ordered food to go. Good music, nice screen with the padres game on; the cozy hustle and bustle of families and employees talking and laughing. It was great. The food was fantastic. Best Lomo Saltado I've had. The steak was tender and the fries were perfect. The arroz chaufa was also fantastic flavor and a great portion. Will 100% be back here, God willing, and will bring friends

Yelp
Went here for lunch on a weekday in October and we were blown away with the great service and delicious Peruvian food. The owner was there and she was super nice. The restaurant was quite empty. I don't think many people know about this place yet. The food was really flavorful and we finished everything on our plates. We will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Had the arroz chaufa.Very good! Good quantity. Customer service was good. Only thing is that I've never seen platanos or broccoli on a arroz chaufa before

Yelp
Best Peruvian I've ever had in San Diego This place has good yellow sauce and also good spicy sauces. The server is really good about matching the best sauce with your dish. We got a red pepper one and a cilantro one that were both delicious. I think I leaned a little more towards the cilantro because it's fresh and a little bit spicier but in all realness, ate all of both. I ordered the fettuccine huancaina with steak and it was delicious. Very good portion. The wait staff were super nice and the owner was also very nice. The place is in a cute small locations with indoor and outdoor seating near the old TGI Friday in Mission Valley. I can't wait to come back and try more because the dishes my friends ordered also looked great.
google avatar

Tia M.

Yelp
The green sauce they sell by the bottle is so delicious!!!! It can be paired with pretty well anything. That sauce gets 5 stars. The yuca was great! Especially with that green sauce. 5 stars. Soup was ok. We got the cilantro soup and shrimp soup. 2 stars. Not soups we'd repeat but we look forward to trying more dishes. Outdoor seating on the patio. There's a breeze in summer and overhead heaters for winter. There's indoor seating as well that's open to outside via the bar and entry way. I think there's two or maybe 3 tables. Bathrooms are past the sinks n kitchen areas. It wasn't clean but they were getting busy possibly hadn't had time to clean. 0 stars. It's a small place with only street parking but we parked and was seated without issue. Location and convenience could be 4 stars on a light day or 0 stars on a busy day so 2 stars. The Peruvian paper flag in the food was a nice touch. Grab the bottle of green mild sauce and enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little hidden gem off hotel circle with a nice outdoor patio area and open bar area The server who created me was super friendly and helpful The food was delicious. The pork on my pan con chicharron sandwich was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Watch out for the sauce. It looks creamy but the spicy is definitely spicy. The yams in the sandwich do a nice job balancing the heat

Yelp
Tried this restaurant on a weekend and had a great experience. The dishes were authentic and full of flavor. The ceviche was incredibly fresh with just the right amount of citrus and the lomo saltado was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Their chicha morada drink was refreshing and not too sweet. Service was great with lots of seating area. It was nice to see the owner walking around, greeting customers and making sure everyone was enjoying their meal. This is a great restaurant for anyone who enjoys peruvian food or wants to try something new.

Yelp
Randomly saw this place near the climbing gym and was excited to try since we used to buy their sauce (which is bomb and they sell it here) from farmers markets. My wife and I ordered the tallarin verdes, mussels, and lomo saltado. All the dishes were well flavored and balanced. The mussels were almost like mini ceviche shooters in a shell. Nice and refreshing The tallarin verdes was a heavy pesto like sauce. Flavorful and we squeeze a bit of lime on it for a better balance. The steak was perfectly season and cooked juicy We opted for a salad with the lomo saltado since we had fries earlier that day. Steak was just as it was in the pasta well seasoned and well cooked. And everything was enjoyed with their famous sauce. Service was helpful and friendly and their little patio was cozy on a brisk sunny day!

Yelp
My entire family has been a huge fan of Mama G's sauces for years. We would buy them at the local farmers markets monthly to replenish our supplies. We were extremely excited to hear when Mama G opened up her own restaurant! I checked out the new spot in mission valley on a weekend and it was great! It's the perfect spot for a nice lunch outside. I shared the chicken sandwich and yuca fries and they were both really delicious, and of course we had to have the original mama G sauce on the side!

Yelp
This place is awesome. Sauces are delicious, beef empanadas are the best I've ever had. Solid Caesar salad and I loved the Peruvian ceviche! Great portions. Cheesecake was great as well. Staff is super nice and welcoming! The decor is nicely done as well this is definitely a hidden gem. Relatively small restaurant so you might have to wait on a Friday/Saturday if you're a bigger group but for 2 of us on a Friday at 7pm there was no wait! Locally owned mom and pop vibes this place is 100% worth supporting. Please be patient and understanding if they're understaffed, it's worth the wait. Everything's made from scratch and ceviche is made fresh!
google avatar

Victoria B.

Yelp
I ordered the Arroz con Pollo and my friend ordered Lomo Saltado. I'm Filipino so I make and eat a lot of rice which makes me very picky about restaurant rice. The Arroz in my meal was cooked and seasoned so perfectly, I enjoyed every bite; the chicken was juicy and flavorful and the yucca with sauce and a quartered hard boiled egg was the perfect compliment! I really wanted to lick my plate! The yucca fries were crispy and delicious under the sirloin steak which was also seasoned to perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

Richard T.

Yelp
Burger was good and tasty, the Yuca fries were unique and had a lot of flavor. The sauce I got was spicy and very good. I will definitely try it again.

Yelp
It's so nice to have a tasty peruvian place nearby. The service is very friendly. Our server was a really helpful and accommodating person. We sat outside at one of several shady tables. The menu is pretty standard though I wish they had pollo a la brass. We ordered the large house salad, ceviche, and the aji de gallina. The salad was large enough for two and the veggies were fresh. The dressing was tasty and seemed house made. The ceviche was also very good. The aji was good but did not have quite enough chicken. Next time i come i'd ask for no potatoes and extra chicken. The potatoes felt unnecessary given the rice that came with the dish.. The waitress was kind enough to bring me some salsa criolla to try. It was yummy! overall this was a very nice experience. The only negative was that the chicken hadn't been prepped so it took quite a long time to arrive at the table.

Yelp
This place is very good. We've been looking for a local Peruvian place because Nazca closed over a decade ago and our go-to in Orange County also closed. We've only been able to go in the weekends because it's a little out of the way for us to go during the week. By the way, try the alfajores and passion fruit juice. They're amazing!!! The only complaints I have is that when we went my husband's dish came out much later than expected. I felt really bad and he let me eat my dish because he didn't want my food to get cold; by the time his food came out I was halfway done with my meal. The waitress was apologetic and offered us a discount, which we appreciated, although it wasn't reflected in our bill (but we don't expect it, anyway). Also it's kind of expensive to eat here, but you can say that about a lot of restaurants these days. Definitely recommend coming here and we'll try to go again!

Yelp
Best Peruvian restaurant in San Diego! Cute place located in the heart of San Diego. Everyone here is always super nice. The food is great. My favorite plate is the lomo Saltado and picarones for dessert. They have some of the best ceviches for ceviche lovers. It's a family own restaurant, the whole family is super nice. They have a patio with heaters.

Yelp
Mama G's has maintained a presence at local farmers markets until recently opening a brick-and-mortar eatery in Mission Valley. They took over a space where a short-lived café/market had operated. From the standpoints of access and visibility, the location near the end of a cul de sac wasn't optimal. Only curbside parking along Camino del Rio South was available. A central bar with stools arranged both inside and outside the structure was the featured seating. Several tables were also set up outside under a covered front patio. Gloria, the matriarch, and her sons run the operation. The current menu was a sheet of offerings based on Peruvian family recipes that had been handed down over the decades. Eight appetizers and eight entrees were the main categories along with two choices each of burgers, salads, and sandwiches. Three desserts rounded out the items. From a cost perspective, everything was quite affordable with nothing priced more than $18. I chose a Causa Rellena with chicken (versus tuna) for an appetizer. This was a classic chilled lime and potato cake mixed with shredded white chicken meat and topped with a hard boiled egg slice, avocado, diced tomatoes, and crema. It was beautifully plated by the kitchen. A cup of dipping sauce was provided on the side, but it wasn't needed because the item already had sufficient flavor. To complete my meal, I selected a Loma Saltado with sirloin (versus chicken or portobello mushroom). This traditional Peruvian stir fry contained red onion, tomato, cilantro, and green onions that were sautéed in soy sauce, vinegar, and spices. Some french fries were mixed in while a mound of white rice was added to one side of the dish. Another cup of the same dipping sauce was provided, but I didn't know why. The flavor of the sautée liquid was on point. What could have used improvement was tenderness to the slices of meat. More fries would have been a nice touch too. After the staff has obtained more experience during the soft opening period, I hope they can expand the business hours. With a 7:30 pm closing time on Tuesday through Thursday, it can be challenging to navigate rush hour traffic and arrive at this end of Mission Valley without feeling hurried. For now, I gave a four star rating for my recent dinner at Mama G's Kitchen & Sauce.

Yelp
Came here during Lunch. My wife was craving Peruvian food and on my Yelp search it showed " MAMA G's Kitchen & Sauce ". We've seen them before but not as a restaurant but in the Farmers Market selling Peruvian Sauces, and we are glad to know that they have a restaurant now. It's only 10 minutes away from home so we drove there right away. When we arrived, we found parking on the side streets in front of the restaurant. They have 2 entrances left and right of the restaurant. They have an indoor and outdoor seating area and we chose their outdoor seating. Got the menu, a few that we wanted were not available at the time like the Causa and Tallarin Verdes, they are still in their soft opening so that's very understandable. My wife did the order, we had Ceviche De Pescado, Lomo Saltado, and Tallarin de Rez . Their Ceviche is just what we wanted in a Ceviche not too citrusy. Their Lomo Saltado has a good Peruvian sauce, the meats are good and even the Tomato on their Lomo Saltado was very tasty. Their Tallarin Saltado is different from what we had in other Peruvian restaurant. Their noodles here are flat noodles like those with Fettuccini. It was good but very light in sauce. But adding the sauce on the side made this Tallarin Saltado very good. The Alfajores are not heavy on the sweet, it's a good dessert. Service is on point, Gloria and his Boys who are helping her out with the services are friendly and polite with good customer service. The place is not decorated yet coz they are still in their Soft opening but they said soon they are gonna paint the walls with murals and more. I can't wait to come back for that and their Delicious food.

Yelp
Giving this my Peruvian stamp! This place was SERIOUS business. The food was phenomenal and going back on my birthday next week. I got an Arroz Chaufa (peruvian fried rice) with fried plantains and my partner got a Lomo Saltado with Yucca fries. I personally don't like Yucca fries, but these Yucca fries were the real thing.

Yelp
Hello everyone, as a Peruvian it's really difficult to find Peruvian food, and at Mama G's, the owner -- a Peruvian cook -- really brings the Peruvian flavor to us with her restaurant. My favorite dishes were: * yuca fries * ceviche * ají de gallina *lucuma Ice cream OMG SOOOO good. New best Peruvian spot!

Yelp
This is a great find! It's a relatively new restaurant in an area that's not common for restaurants, but it's well worth it to venture there. Excellent service, great food, attentive service. Only challenge is that their website is not up to date.

Yelp
If you're on the hunt for amazing Peruvian food in San Diego, you have to check out Mama G's. It's one of those hidden gems that's a little tricky to find, but once you're there, it's so worth it. I tried the Lomo Saltado (not sure I'm spelling that right), and it was incredible. The beef was so tender, the sauce was packed with flavor, and the fries were perfect--crispy but soaking up just the right amount of sauce. Honestly, it's some of the best food I've had in San Diego, hands down. The service was just as amazing as the food. It's a family-owned spot, and you can tell they really care about their customers. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, it felt like I was eating at someone's home. We sat out on the patio, which was cozy and warm, and they were super nice about letting us bring our little dog. It's rare to find a spot that's this good and also dog-friendly. Places like this are what make San Diego's food scene so great. I'll definitely be back. Five stars, no question.

Yelp
4 stars for the sliders. I forget what my wife had -- we both agreed it was forgettable. Just ask: does the cuisine of Peru have any kind of recognition? There just may be a reason. Very pleasant patio -- I would go back (for the sliders.) Worth checking out, just don't expect to be overwhelmed.

Yelp
Wow! So excited to have found this little gem. Amazing Peruvian food. Everything we had was fresh and so so yummy. I had ajj de gallina, hubby had pork sandwhich and my son had lomo saltado and they were all fabulous! They just need to add Peso Sours. We'll be back! Omg I have to add the dessert is insane! The chocolate cake (homemade) is to die for!

Yelp
Showed up Sunday at 1:50. There was no line to get in and available seating. We waited at the host stand for atleast 10 minutes while the bartender looked at my girlfriend and I three times during this span, before being acknowledged. A couple minutes later he seats us and says he will bring water right out. Over the next 15 minutes there were a multitude of wrong orders coming out to tables, and they couldn't even bring out the entire tables order at one time. As we waited and saw how un organized this place was, nobody ever came to greet us at the table. The big bartender guy sat people at the bar and served them and continued to ignore us. We finally had enough, even after the other serve saw us waiting and walked out. I am all about supporting local businesses but they need to get it together. You could tell that the other tables were also displeased with the service when we left.

Yelp
My Review for this restaurant is long overdue due to the passing of one of our family member. But I won't skip reviewing this place since I love the food here. I've been here twice last month. Once on Sept. 4, and then we came back right away the next day, I just really like eating Peruvian food. So I'm really glad that MAMA G's KITCHEN & SAUCE opened up for dining. They used to be mostly found at the Farmer's Market selling their specialty Peruvian Sauces. When my Husband told me that a new Peruvian restaurant had opened, I didn't wait long, we drove right away to Mama G's. So as I mentioned, I've been here twice already and I will come back for more, but here is what I ordered on our second visit: *LOMO SALTADO - I chose the CHICKEN one. *PAN CON CHICHARRON *CAUSA RELLENA Between the Lomo Saltado BEEF and the CHICKEN Saltado that I've tasted here, I like the Sauces on both, but I did like the CHICKEN Saltado a bit more 'coz of the Tenderness of the Chicken, but their sauces were good on both the BEEF and the CHICKEN Saltado. Now for the PAN CHICHARRON, OMG! that is another one of my favorite here, the braised pork on this sandwich was just so tasty and the sauce they put on it was so good, this Sandwich is just so delicious! Oh also their CAUSA RELLENA is something you don't want to skip. I got the Chicken Causa, it's a chilled lime and potato cape with chicken filling, I kept ordering Causa Rellena in every Peruvian restaurant that I visited, but here in Mama G's their Causa is the most delicious one I tasted. The customer service is great here. Mama G and her Sons who also help her assist in her restaurant are very friendly. They have Indoor and outdoor seating. Also, Mama G's special sauces are available for sale at her restaurant. The location is kind of in a hidden area. Parking is on a side street. The food is delicious, we will recommend this restaurant to our friends and family.

Yelp
The food was great, our server was very personable and patient with our questions. Desert is 10/10. Need to come in and try the menu catered by the server's grandma! Decorated with llamas and a taste of Peru! Definitely returning!

Yelp
I came for lunch. Taste was good. But I cannot give 5 stars because The lomo saltado I ordered was too salty. Take it easy on the salt flavor, sir. The sauce was quite flavorful and I love that. There was also the creamy sauce which I am not familiar with, but tasted good never the less. I enjoyed that part. But additional problem was, the beef was too hard. My jaws had quite a workout. I prefer not to.

Yelp
Peruvian Foood!!! Thrilled to have a place like this nearby! Authentic Peruvian food is soo hard to come by, especially in San Diego! So we were thrilled to see this pop up on a random search and so close to us. We came in on a Sunday afternoon an hour or so before closing with the flavors of Lima running through our imagination! Mama G, did not disappoint. The place is off the beaten path in a business area tucked away at the end of a cul de sac in Mission Valley (right past the Benihana). The spot is initially unassuming, but has some very cool Peruvian aesthetics, small but tasteful. The service was responsive and, as we learned, fully family run. Now, the food, we were three. My wife ordered the Loaded Yuca (certainly not a traditional Peruvian dish, but a good way to taste several flavors in one dish), I ordered the Ceviche and my daughter got the Papa a la Huancaina and Tuna Causa. Both the Causa and Loaded Yuca came with sides of their sauces which were absolutely fire. The food was incredible, my daughter demolished both her dishes without pausing (she's 6). The ceviche was a delicious and generous portion that I couldn't help but slurp up the lemon juice after I finished the dish. The yuca fries and chicken in the loaded Yuca were delicious - the chicken was juicy and the fries were cooked to perfection crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - the portion was significant that we had to get a box for the leftovers. We will absolutely be back to experience the rest of the menu! Oh and Mama G, herself, was super awesome, kind and engaging!
