They treated me very well super nice. Felt very welcomed. After you order you get a ticket and go outside to get your BBQ from the grill guy. This was my biggest turn off. It was FLIES everywhere and on everything. But hey I was invested at this point. Ribs were very tender but I wasn't a fan of the sauce, to be honest. If they switch the sauce they will have a perfect rib. Mac and Cheese was a pass for me also barely edible. Get some fly traps, get a fan to move air, and be a little more sanitary please food inspector would shut yall down if he seen what I seen. 🙏 I want to see you all do great. Being a visitor in town I wouldn't come back or recommend this place.

The restaurant doesn’t seem to be a sit-in restaurant but maybe it’s set up differently on the weekends. Either way we planned on getting the food to-go. Definitely get the full rack of ribs - best bang for your buck and it’s more than enough for a family of four. In total we purchased the full rack of ribs (with the bbq sauce) mac-n-cheese, potato salad, beans, and the peach cobbler. I highly recommend getting the side of beans with your ribs. It’s a perfect combo.

They call what they serve soulfood? Shame on this place. This place is the absolute worst. 1st off I came in at 5pm which I thought was dinner time and they had almost nothing on the menu. How does a soulfood restaurant not have chicken, ribs or turkey wings? I ended up ordering the catfish (the only option left) with macaroni and cheese and green beans (since there was no collard greens either) The fish tasted like it was fried in old dirty grease. The macaroni and cheese was flavorless and tasted like it was straight from a box. They would have done better giving customers Kraft macaroni and cheese. Seems like they settle for the no frills brand. The green beans also flavorless. Along with the crappy service I was pissed that I paid nearly 15 dollars for a meal I ended up trashing. There is nothing wrong with hole in the wall joints. I've eaten some of the most delicious meals in some Hole in the wall places but this place gives small restaurants a bad name. Don't bother wasting your time or money.

I had stopped going to this place for a while,because they never opened on time. My mom was craving their ribs recently, and we were in the area. The young lady up front is not very pleasant, but the gentleman at the grill makes up for it. The ribs are always delicious, and he has a great sense of humor!!

Mama Lucy has the RIB Sandwiches. The barbecue sauce is FINGER licking. 119 st and 22nd ave . ✔ check them out.

Saw the BBQ smoke from the street and knew I had to stop while visiting. Ordered and paid inside, went outside to get my food. Was given ribs directly off the hot grill which made me excited. Once I opened the container I realized the pitmaster overwhelmed me with sauce. More sauce than meat, it was running outside the container. After one bite, the ribs taste as if they were boiled before being placed on the grill. No grill taste at all. Sad and disappointed.

Ribs fall off the bone smoker grill.Tastes like southern food. Sheila always gives alot of sauce and asks if any dietary restrictions before making the food. Excellent service. My Sunday dinner favorite spot! Mom from Ohip, she licks the bone and says reminds her of mothers cooking from down South.

Best BBQ I've ever had. All my sides were delicious. The meat was tender. Service was good.

IF I CAN GIVE THEM A ZERO STAR I WOULD!! NO MASK AND NO SAFETY AT ALL! THE MAN TOLD ME WHY I ONLY PLACED ONE ORDER. Who does that?? What business questions your order and purchases WORST COOK. LET ME NOT MENTION THE WORST CASHIER, this untrained cashier; handout me an out dated MENU with 2000 yr old price's. When I asked why my order cost $3 on top of it original prices based on menu. The young light dark red skin cashier. Upset at me (the customer) for not having knowledge of their current menu prices. I went ahead and placed a second order, the same day. On the second order, the cook tells the worker I don't even tip to be asking him (the cook) to see the slabs of rips. Smh, worst experience. On top of that he did not have a mask on to be talking over my food I already paid for. SUPER NASTY.

Ribs was not fully cooked meat was not tender !!! The service was fast. Don't go late because they're won't be no sides.

Mama Lucy's is always a go too for years. I'm always satisfied with their food. My parents been taking me since I was a kid here and now I'm taking my kids

Rib quality = Excellent Racism = Not I am white and the friend I was with, is latin. The price per rack of ribs was $29 each for both of us. So we were charged $58 for 2 racks of ribs... Wandering what the price would be if we were black?

The only thing this place is good for is the ribs. The collard greens are nasty had too much sugar, and the mac and cheese didn't have enough cheese or seasoning. The sweet potato pie is nasty and the pound cake is nasty.

Absolutely disgusting, after making payment for 2 short in rib sandwich's I go around to the grill man who was eating a sweet potato pie with his hands and licking his fingers. giving him the benefit of the doubt I waited to see if he would wash and sanitize his hands but no he immediately reached for the grill as i stopped him mid reach asking him to wash his hands and grouchingly he did but I was just to disgusted I went inside, (did I forget to mention the atrocious smell of the inside ) however the cashier gave me a refund I called my brother to tell him about my experience and he too had a disgusting experience here too the grill man on his Trip to nasty Lucy's was picking his nose Ewwww I'm upset I have to give a star

This is to go to rib joint as of lately. I mean you really can't go wrong with a couple smokers pushing out clouds of Smokey goodness. We ordered a couple rib sandwiches which is another way of saying half rack with a slice of white bread slapped on top. We always order our baked beans and Mac n cheese which are well worth the occasional 25 minute wait for the ribs. The beans are sweeeet and the Mac is really cheesy and a solid side. I know there were some other Yelpers that complained about the sides, not sure if they just went at the end of the night or when they were running out of stuff but I've really never had a problem with any other dishes. I do get a little annoyed with the fact that sometimes you go at a decent hour and there is a 45 minute to an hour wait for ribs and they won't sell you the meal unless the meat is ready. It makes sense don't get me wrong, but almost an hour for the ribs is just too ridiculous. Overall a decent place, fairly clean with decent prices.

I ordered small end ribs with extra sauce. The ribs were hard as hell. I think I got last nights leftovers they reheated. I tried to call them four times no one answered the phone it went straight to voicemail and you couldn't leave a message. I will admit the sauce was good. lol lol lol

I came to this place expecting some good soul food and was highly disappointed. The yellow rice was hard, the yams were dry like Popeyes biscuits. The Mac and cheese had no cheese look like box mac and cheese. The ribs were over cooked. The chicken wings taste like the grease was 3 days old. The baked beans had no taste. The sweet potato pie crust was hard as a rock.

After reading the rave reviews, I ventured into Mama Lucy's. I have to say for me, it wasn't worth the trip. First of all the interior is run down. There happens to be a for sale sign posted outside the building. I ordered the rib dinner, greens, mac and cheese, potato salad and the peas and rice. Throw in a soda and the meal came up to $15. The ribs were thin and didn't have much meat. Even worse, thy were served lukewarm. The potato salad wasn't bad, but I couldn't eat the mac and cheese. The "creamy" texture just wasn't my preference. I like my mac and cheese baked. The greens and cornbread were OK. It just seemed like this meal was poorly put together. You know how folks say they cook with love? It's real. I didn't feel the love here.

I would normally write my own review, but I have to give full credit to the first guy (Joshua). These ribs are divine and should come with a warning label RIBS: WILL PUT YOU TO SLEEP ;)

This place deserves way more love than it's given. Definitely a hidden gem! I'm from out of town and found this place due to reviews. The ribs were absolutely to die for! What makes this place the best is the customer service. The lady that served me was one of the owners, Shella and all I can say is what a doll. She was so kind and made me feel right at home! Do yourself a favor and come here!

I'm very disappointed after being a customer for years. I ordered a rib dinner and they gave me hard burnt ribs smothered in barbecue sauce. I couldn't even enjoy my meal. The collard greens were even extra salty. People shouldn't be treated this way especially when they charge $15.

The ribs was bomb love the food here they was supper wet the greens and Mac was good the sauce tasted kinda weird

I don't know what happen to this place but it was an absolute Disaster!! The ribs were the worst I ever had...This place needs a good scrub inside and outside! The young lady that took my order was rude and disrespectful. I'm still shocked how bad the rubs were...

This place may be in the ghetto and I probably would count on take out for future meals but if your in the mood for good BBQ it is worth the trip. The neighborhood may be ghetto but that says nothing of the people who frequent the restaurant. During my trip I held the door open for four people and all four thanked me, try that test anywhere else in Miami. I am usually lucky to get one out of four. The building is a little old but it is southern BBQ so I think that a older building is a prerequisite. There are only 8 or so seats in the dining area which is the reason for planning all later meals as to go meals. When you approach the building you will see four old school BBQ grill out front. You then walk up to the counter and order. They will hand you any sides ordered and direct you to a window on the side of the building at which you present your receipt and collect your meats. I ordered a half rack of ribs and some okra. The ribs came in a styrofoam takeout container with four pieces of white bread and some oxtail, all dripping in BBQ sauce. Let me tell you this is real BBQ, it is messy and oily, the ribs are a little fatty, and the only way to describe how good it tastes involves expletives and a good portion of a heart attack. The only reason it doesn't have 5 stars is because I don't want anyone thinking it is a good place to take a date. It's not, but your sure to have a great meal and take about a month of your life expectancy, as it should be.

Food was good but because of my horrible experience with the staff, I would never go back. Rule #1: Customer service. The grill outside will have me "taste" the place once but the impatient, rude, nasty young ladies behind the counter will keep me away forever. Shame b/c I pass the place 5 days a week but I refuse to stop.

The Ribs only are worth 4 stars but the building AND the service is GHETTO!!!!! I was not really feeling going around the side of the building to pick my food up out of a cut out window... But I Guess :/ Anyways as good as the Ribs tasted I never been back... Still Deciding.... Oh Yah the conch was pretty good I will give them that too... I haven't tried any of there side dishes though...

This little place is so non-de script that I've lived near it for years and never ventured in. The one time that I did go in, the lady at the counter informed me that they didn't take credit cards. I made it there yesterday and Viola! They now accept credit and debit!!! Rejoice all ye! Rejoice! The ambiance: There are 8 tables in all and approximately 18 chairs. Take out is your best option in my humble opinion. The building is run down. And there is a big sports theme all over the walls. The sides: I don't eat macaroni and cheese. I can't stand the stuff. My sister on the other hand does enjoy it. She informs me that they have very good mac and cheese. Cheesy, creamy, and tasty. The collard greens are to die for!!! You can taste the smoked ham hocks. The greens are firm, not too bitter, and perfectly seasoned. The rices that they prepare are made very well. The yellow rice is good, but the pigeon peas and rice are better. The ribs: I enjoyed the ribs. My one issue was that my order of ribs were a little on the tough side. The sauce was good though. I can see that sauce smeared all over anything and being a big hit. The Oxtail: There are two luxurious cuts of meat on every cow that always make my day: the tongue and tail. These people know how to slow stew oxtail until it's falling apart, and so tender. I will be going back for more!!!! The conch: When I saw it on the menu I knew that I had to try the deep fried conch. I had my doubt because I've had some really tough conch in the past. However, Mama Lucy's tenderizes their conch perfectly. The breading was light and tasty. It wasn't too overpowering at all. It was perfect. If I have a complaint, it isn't regarding the conch it was the fact that I didn't get any lemon or lime with my order. Thankfully, my order was a take-out and I had some at home. Tilapia: I've heard that they have excellent tilapia. I have yet to try it. I will be going back to try it. Souse: Mama Lucy's motto is "Where Souse is Boss." I'm going to go back later and try it. If you don't know what souse is, it's a brined meat that's been stewed until it falls apart. Traditionally, it's a head cheese but I've seen the term applied to chicken wings that have been cooked by this particular form of cooking.

I bought a large fountain drink for $1.75. It was at least half ice. When I finished it I requested a refill and was told I would have to pay another $1.75...lame lame lame They ran out of ribs 45 minutes before closing which required waiting until the place closed for them to finish cooking The entire interior is FILLED with smoke from the barbecues so waiting in the restaurant was like sitting inside a burning building... They use generic wholesale Barbecue sauce, I.e corn syrup based garbage. I'm convinced all these reviews are fake. This place is awful, and also in a very bad part of town.

I went to this restaurant to pick up dinner. Never again the chicken was hard and old, the Peas and rice was gummy the potato salad was the worst. Save your money don't eat here $30.00 gone down the drain,

The best soul food in Miami! Their servings are enough to last two days , you get rice and 2 sides plus your meat-it's so much food! Their oxtail is good and the ribs are delicious! I love the yams,& collard greens!! Super friendly family owned spot!

The best ribs worth the ride I can feed my whole family of three with a 1/2 slab of ribs large mac and cheese and greens just a great meal for about 37 bucks can't get that in Wynwood.

Great place to stop by for their famous Rib Sandwich (about a quarter rack of crispy, whole, slow-roasted pork ribs with two pieces of white bread - $7.50) after a game at Sun Life Stadium! Signed NFL Jerseys from former UM Hurricane greats cover the walls inside, but the place is really a takeout joint as they call your name outside and hand you the food through a window in the parking lot. Ribs are toothsome (if that's what you prefer, as opposed to the fall-off-the-bone variety) and properly smoked... Their sauce is good... I just enjoy Fat Man's TOO much to give this one the top review in Miami... But a worthwhile stop-through, indeed...

The food at Mama Lucy's was TERRIBLE!!! We ordered 2 rib dinners which included ribs, rice and 2 sides and we also ordered sweet potato pie. The ribs were dry and tasted old, the rice was crunchy and bland and the collard greens were tart. The only thing I ate in entirety was the corn bread!!! We threw out the food and ended up in Wendy's drive thru shortly thereafter... Waist of $32!!!

This ribs are good , but the sides are nasty ( unfortunately). The only good side was the yams . We ordered pigeon peas and rice , Mac n cheese , yams , greens , sweet potato pie and peach cobbler. I'll be back but just for the ribs ONLY.

This is probably my favorite spot to get ribs!! I can always depend on Mama Lucy's when in need of souther style ribs. The wait time is normally 10-15 min and depending on which day of the week it is, the wait time can be longer. Anyways, I can't say enough about how good this place is for ribs. I have not tried any other food items on the menu but I'm sure it's just as good. The staff are okay, energy is good too... so lastly, or to add, the process of getting these ribs consist of paying inside and then once you're given a copy of your receipt, you would then go outside where the ribs are being cooked and hand the receipt to the chef or whomever is collecting the receipts, lastly, you would patiently wait on your ribs, thank them, and then if you still have some patience left you would go home and chow down on the deliciousness... lol ok that's it for now.

I love soul food! If I have the type of time to try them all; I surely would! This place was great! I don't care for the rice.. But everything else is on point. The mac n cheese was to die for!!!

This is the best barbecue I've had in such a long time! Here in Florida I'm starting to realize that it is hard to find food that tastes above average. The sauce has a strange vanilla-ish or chocolate thing going on, but it works! i would love a recipe. the ribs are seriously good and smokey. No fat and cut very thin. Don't be afraid of the smoke pouring from those grills, They know what they are doing!

Hands down the BEST Ribs in Miami...Jack (the owner) has mastered his recipe for the ribs, chicken and sauce. The portions are large and priced reasonably.

From the 4 stars this restaurant was given i thought the food would've been good. The ribs smelled, like they were bad before they were cooked. You could smell rotten meat over the bar b que sauce. The macaroni was just awful, the food is horrible I'm really considering calling the health department cause that rotten meat could have someone sick

First of all it's worth the drive to the hood so just Man Up! Everything here is delicious which the long lines are a clear indication! The ribs, to die for Mac n cheese and peas and rice are finger lickin' good! Don't forget to try one of their homemade pies!

I have been searching for good ribs since my new move and these were good! $10 for a rib sandwich so good. The only thing I didn't like was the sauce it wasn't bad but it seemed sweet for my taste. I'm not fond of others Mac n cheese and other sides so I can't comment on that. I wish I took a picture of my food nice portion I'm picky but it was worth my money.

I love the ribs, there great on their own but when you dip them in what I can only describe as the best BBQ sauce in the world. It simply blows your mind. Order the sauce on the side because if not they drown it in sauce. I also take the food to go and eat it at home. My husband and I did eat inside but it's more of a take out place.

This is one of the few places in South Florida where you going to actually buy the small end portion of ribs. the half slab small and is definitely worth the money the ribs are always great. My new favorite is also the yams

The ribs are to die for. You can taste the love they are made with. The BBQ sauce is incredible! You gotta try it if you are in the area - and even if you are not they are worth the drive!

Great ribs, best i ever tried. The thing is after eating a lot you can feel the smoke a lot. Like if u were inside a smoke room so u get tired of the flavor. The best mac and cheese! Creamy and cheesy, was awesome. The place is so out of date and lack of fix. So u better take out.

Oh heck yeah! This place rocks! I came here on a rainy Saturday when the high school football Championships were too wet to try to sit in the stands. Three of us shared a full rack and sat under the awning with loads of napkins and a plastic bag for the bones. While it's certainly off the beaten path, this is my "Go-To" rib joint.

Amazing ribs. The bbq-ing is all done outside. Sweet potato pie was delicious. Get an extra side of sauce as well. I wish I took pictures of the food but honestly was too hungry and devoured the ribs.

My girl had ben telling me about this spot for over a year but I had never been in the area while they were open. Today was the day!!! I ordered the rib dinner with extra sauce, collard greens, string beans, mac-n-cheese & potato salad. Red kool-aid & a mini sweet potato pie to go. The staff was friendly, the food was ready fast and It was all delicious!!! I definitely suggest to order extra sauce as the meat doesnt have a lot of saucy flavor BUT the ribs were very tender!! Im all about the sides & the sides are poppin!! I was impressed with them all. Ive been to other "soul food" spots where they either didnt offer many choices for the sides or they were drab or too salty....mama Lucy's are perfectly seasoned and just right, like real home cooking! Im a Southern girl that loves her soul food, and this is probably the best one ive found in S Florida. Jacksons in Overtown is up there with mama Lucys but their service usually sucks so mama Lucys wins!! I will definitely be going back again and again!!
