I've never had Lithuanian food before, and seeing this restaurant on Gmaps peaked my curiosity. I am extremely glad I followed my interest into Mama Papa. The food is delicious, humble, and deeply satisfying. I ordered more things than one meal required because I was so interested. I wasn't disappointed, each dish was incredibly tasty. I took my leftovers home and am enjoying them now as I write this review. I couldn't recommend this place any more highly. The chilled summer borscht particularly hits the spot for me. It makes gazpacho (which I like) seem weak and pathetic. My Mom ordered a Lithuanian beer and said it was delicious, she liked it enough to make note of the brand so she could acquire more. My only problem or issue was the chairs, they're heavy and over built and I kept banging my legs into them. Could be a tall person issue. The staff was really friendly and welcoming. They answered all my dumb questions about the food and the country and seemed pleased to do so. Really, everything about this place was great. I don't live in Alameda, but I'll still be coming back. It's worth the drive for food, service, and atmosphere as fantastic as Mama Papa has. 11/10
