Mama Shelter Bordeaux (Bordeaux, Nouvelle Aquitaine) 11 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Viewed through the lens of tourism, Bordeaux is all about wine bars and Michelin stars, and the hotels range all the way from quite luxurious to very luxurious indeed. But of course Bordeaux is a living city, not just an open-air wine museum — and any city worth its salt needs a stylish, budget-friendly boutique hotel in the Mama Shelter mold. Some concessions are made to the city’s status as a culinary destination — there are twice as many eating and drinking venues as the recipe originally called for — but for the most part, it’s got more in common with its cousins in Marseille and Lyon than with the rest of the Bordeaux hospitality scene." - Tablet Hotels

Loved staying at this hotel. We had a great time. The design was really quirky and fun. The restaurant and bars were really cool places to hang out at night- especially when there were DJ sets etc on. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect- very central and right next to a supermarket. And the room we had was comfortable and gave us everything we needed. Would definitely stay again if in Bordeaux or in any other city with a Mama Shelter hotel.

I had a great stay here this week. Awesome location, super friendly staff. When I lost and/or damaged mine, they provided me with multiple copies of a map of the city. They made great recommendations and marked them on the map for me. This hotel was recommended to me by a friend who had stayed here previously. It was more affordable than any of the other options I had found on my own. It's a three-star hotel, not luxury, but very nice by my standards. Everything worked correctly, was clean, and comfortable. Housekeeping came daily to make the bed and tidy up the room. I walked, skated, or took the tram exclusively during my stay and was able to get everywhere I needed to go with ease. I opted for a room without a coffee maker, but was able to go down each morning to the restaurant and grab a cup of coffee to bring back to my room, which was billed to the room. The room did have a microwave and mini fridge, which was great for me as I travel on a budget and prefer to make small meals in the room. I was completely satisfied with my time here and hope to come back someday!

The bed and bedding is good. There were two problems in our room 402. The sewage smell was horrible, which came up occassionally. Also flow away from the sink was very poor indeed. The second problem is the shower head. Obviously it’s blocked with calcaire, and not working properly. My husband decided not to shower, so bad. The location of the hotel is great and generally atmosphere and staff very nice. I had already booked an other room for 3.-4. December. I wish you could make sure that we don’t experience the same problem there. Merci. Anitta F.

We stayed there earlier this month for one night en route to the coast. Booked a space in the car park which was in a pedestrian area, and you have to gain access by using an entryphone connected to the Police Municipale. If they don't answer, and they didn't, you cannot get through to drive to the hotel. We left our car at a nearby public car park, which charged the same amount as the hotel would have charged. Our room was on the 4th floor on an internal corridor with sealed windows that could not open. It was a very warm day and the hotel was fully booked. By about 10 pm it was 26 degrees warm in our room with no heating on. Obviously it is a well insulated hotel, but 26 degrees is far too warm to sleep. Luckily there was a very switched-on young man on reception, Louis and he managed to move us to a different room where the windows could be opened. Without his help we would have walked out and stayed elsewhere, so he needs to be looked after, he truly knows that he is in the hospitality industry. Breakfast was a bit of a disaster, the girls clearing up and cleaning tables were very fast and efficient, sadly let down by the kitchen staff and those who were supposed to replenish the buffet. It is obviously a place for the young, cool and trendy judging by the concept and decor throughout, we have now tried it out and we will be returning back to the Ibis brand instead. But Tasmanian Devil and Tweety Pie face masks hanging from the room mirrors? Really? On the plus side it is a great location, central for most things and safe. If anyone is thinking of driving there, don't. Get the train and tram and save your stress levels and a couple of wasted hours.

Learn to treat your gold & platinum customers with more respect. That’s why we choose Accor hotels for those extra perks, such as a late checkout. Make sure when your loyal customers check-in, they are informed where they can take their welcome drinks. It shouldn’t be a guessing game.

It’s my third time staying with Mama Bordeaux and definitely not my last. The location is top, walking distance to all the shops and restaurants, room is well equipped and super comfy. The staff made sure my stay was amazing too. Thank you so much

Clean, good sized rooms, also not my taste but fine. Young vibe, friendly service. Restaurant is great - be sure to reserve. Location perfect, and easily accessible by tram.

Was a nice location, great rooftop, the food is good. The room is not to my taste, but it is clean and functional. There was a microwave which was unusual but actually nice. The staff was very very nice and welcoming to me. Overall, great value for money. To the owner I'd be happy to send a positive review to the staff if needed.

Yelp
Wonderful spot to stay while you are in Bordeaux. Location location location, service, service, service!!!! Rooms are small but normal for European standards. What it lacks in size it more then makes up for in all other areas. The breakfasts were very good with a huge selection of items. You can have specialty coffees if you like. Charcuterie to egg and speciality breads. One service side sweet and the other salty. Love the chic urban design and youth oriented feel. Although I am no longer young it appealed to my " young at heart "energy and the staff is sure to make sure you are comfortable and well cared for. Take a drink on the roof top terrace if you get the chance the views are stunning and great drink selection. Great shops and restaurants within a very short walking area. Be sure to try one of the local restos (looks in the day like there is nothing around in the day but late afternoon look for it to all come to life. One place a short walk away was an awesome Nature/Bio wine bar (Comptoir St. Vincent ) we fell in love with. (Antoine the Gérant) will guide you with his knowledge, expertise, and laidback way to sample wines he has selected from his own personal travels. Worth an evening stop and then head to Bourse for the magic night shot. Check in and out were a breeze and when we had arrived very early the staff secured our baggage so we could get on with exploring this great city. Will definitely hunt for more Mama Shelters in other Cities we visit. Saw there is one In Prague ........ next stop maybe?

Yelp
What tastes good, is nicely located, has great music but is lil bit expensive when it comes to food? Mama shelter! Drinks are tasty and "affordable". You can also enjoy a bucket of a cocktail for 35euros (=10 glasses). Prices for food start at 17 euros. Rooftop open when the weather is nice

Yelp
So cute! This place was a godsend on our short stay in Bordeaux. The beds are comfortable, the pillows and linens are super clean and fluffy, making for a great night's rest. Our window looked out into a stairwell, which was kind of bizarre, but we just kept the shades closed. TV has free movies, radio, TV, wifi password. It was awesome! Definitely bring your own shampoo and conditioner though.. they give you a 3-in-1 bottle that's awful. But hey, there's a towel warmer! The breakfast in the morning was also a nice surprise. Lots of different options (even some for us picky Americans!) that included breakfast meats, breads, different cereals, juices/coffee/teas, as well as other treats. Just give your room number and it's free! Woohoo! Definitely liked staying here. The only downside is that it's far away from the tram (though close to the bus stops), so keep that in mind.

Yelp
I stayed here and drank here and loved it, so before considering a rating I wanted to see what others had to say. The bottom line is that this is a really fun bar with a pretty goofy twist. It's quite popular with locals so expect some effort to get a seat at the bar after 1900. I didn't have the food but I heard good things about the breakfast. Drinks are great. The hotel rooms them self are modern and very practical, very clean and free movies. As for downsides: if small rooms are a problem, stay out of Europe. If "expensive", moderately priced drinks or long waits at the bar are a problem, go back to your room and drink by yourself, or find a bar that nobody likes.

Yelp
So cool. So trendy. Right in the middle bear the cathedral and narrow streets. Rooms are industrial with neat ambience. Apple TV, comfy bed and pillows. So cool.

Yelp
Amazing service, accommodations and breakfast. Was the perfect place and perfect price for our 2-night stay in Bordeaux. Rooms are modern, very clean and while small, a perfect size for 2. In room iMac with movies was a great bonus. The roof deck seemed very popular at night as we never managed to get a space...would have been great for guests to have the ability to reserve...but the bar downstairs was an equally great indoor option. Creative house cocktails and all the classics too. Thanks Mama Shelter for the great stay, incredibly friendly service and great tips to boot!
