Mama Shelter Lisboa (Lisbon, Portugal) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Mama Shelter brand may no longer be the brash upstart it once was, but its hotels continue in the playfully confrontational style that marked their revolutionary debut, right down to the superhero masks that adorn the bedside lamps. But Mama Shelter Lisboa — set, fittingly, in the Portuguese capital’s French quarter — is no carbon copy of its elder sisters; rather, it’s tailored to its setting, applying local crafts, artworks, and materials to the brash and glamorous Mama Shelter aesthetic." - Tablet Hotels

Although the front desk staff are helpful at this hotel, the overall experience is not worth the money paid. When we first arrived, the hotel staff helped us to check in early, and gave us a warm cookie which was greatly appreciated after our long flight. However, after getting in the room, we noticed ants and mold in the corner near the balcony door. There were numerous stains on the carpet and chipped paint on the walls and bedside tables. The lighting in the hotel was also very poor, and I left the next morning feeling like I barely knew what my hair and makeup looked like. They moved us to a different room that was slightly cleaner, but it was still too hot to sleep. We had to buy fans at a store about a 15 minute walk away. There are also not basic amenities in the hotel (Kleenexes?). I would also recommend that future travelers stay somewhere more central since this hotel is about 30 min away from most of the sights. The restaurant is great, and our food was of good quality. The main issue is the room. We checked out early because of it, and the management team has yet to take responsibility or refund us for unused nights. The front desk staff is amazing, but other than that, I don’t have much else to say.

Such a cute hotel, love the vibes. All the staff were friendly and helpful and spoke English. The restaurant is great and a huge spread for the free breakfast. They even left us a happy anniversary dessert in our room ❤️

Hotel was super cute and eclectic. The rooms were decent in size, but not much storage. Bed was comfy, and towels were big and fluffy (no washcloths), the rainfall shower head was great. The room had ac, but it didn't really cut it, we had to still open the window at night. The food was great in the restaurant and the rooftop, we are there a few times during our stay. Pizza was coal fired and had a great crust! The shrimp tacos were a little bland for our liking. The bartenders in the rooftop were super friendly and talented (bottle flare and beautiful craft cocktails). They have a dj on the rooftop and the restaurant on certain nights which really created a nice vibe!

Mama Shelter Lisbon is a fun and stylish spot with a lot of character. The location is fantastic—very central and convenient for exploring the city. One of the highlights is definitely the rooftop bar, which has an amazing view over Lisbon and a great atmosphere, especially in the evenings.||The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re comfortable and well-designed, with everything you need for a short stay. The restaurant and overall design of the space are trendy and vibrant, though we didn’t get a chance to try the food.||It’s worth noting that the vibe leans more toward a younger crowd—lively, modern, and social—so if that’s your scene, you’ll feel right at home. Overall, a great choice for a stylish and central Lisbon stay.

I always worry the photos over represent what you get out of a hotel but what photos I saw online of Mama Shelter and what we experienced staying there was completely in alignment. The room was great. The downstairs restaurant was big and wild and the rooftop bar was much bigger than I expected, well done and the ambiance was amazing. I enjoyed the food and music. I love how hip and new age this hotel is. It’s a great value for what you receive. I booked the larger room with the small sitting room area and loved it. I wish the toilet room had a fan but the windows in the rooms can be cracked. The service was great and it was a very smooth experience. We walked everywhere and I really appreciated the location!

Stayed whilst visiting for NOS ALIVE and the hotel was perfect. Great location, quiet and the rooftop bar is an added bonus - i do wish it would stay open later though would be my only criticism but this is a first world problem|breakfast was fine. the pizzas were lovely.|room was great, free movies which helped start the day following a night at the festival.|walking distance to the liveliest part of town|i imagine it is great for couples on a city break.

Clean, nice looking hotel and rooms. Street parking available nearby for reasonable prices and near public transportation. The A/C in the room didn't work the first night, and they only give you a comforter, no sheets, so it was hot to try to sleep. Thankfully it worked the next day though. Breakfast buffet is worth purchasing. It has eggs, meats, cheeses, beans, breads, pastries, fruit, coffee, espresso, tea, and juice. Tasty!

I stayed here for six nights and loved the hotel. It was absolutely adorable. The room was larger than other European hotels I’ve stayed in and the bed wasn’t two twins pushed together. Absolutely every mirror in the place had something on it. If you have kiddos, careful of the wares sold in the lobby as two of the shelves are adult toys. This is, however, the first hotel I’ve ever stayed in that couldn’t do currency exchange-even a small amount.
