The Best Restaurants In Davie's Foodtown

"If you’ve ever fantasized about eating snails while sitting on a tiny stool in an alleyway somewhere in Vietnam, this place will make you giddy. On almost any night, you’ll see groups sitting at low tables in front of this restaurant sharing plates of food. If your bones can’t deal with sitting so low to the ground, there are taller tables inside. The menu has pictures to help, but if you’re not familiar with Vietnamese food, lean on your server for suggestions. They will happily suggest all kinds of wonderful dishes, like snails that range in size from little periwinkle-like things to ones that could house Sebastian the crab and three of his closest friends. We really love the green mango and cone snail salad, which has a nice heat, an assertive amount of lime, and a generous amount of de-shelled meat. " - carlos c olaechea

MaMa Street Food - Review - Davie - Miami - The Infatuation

"MaMa Streetfood is a Vietnamese restaurant in Davie that’s about as close as you can get in South Florida to sitting on a little stool in an alleyway somewhere in Vietnam while enjoying a pile of delicious snails. On the covered sidewalk in front of this restaurant, you’ll find the same type of very low tables and tiny stools popular in Vietnam. At night, groups of diners huddle over plates of snails in coconut milk, refreshing lime-spiked salads, homemade tofu, and intensely flavorful soups that include much more than just pho. MaMa has an English language menu that includes some dishes like the crispy fried lemongrass tofu (which you should order) along with a French-influenced beef and vegetable soup and a tomato-based crab and pork meatball soup. But the more interesting options are on the Vietnamese menu, including all the wonderful snails. There are some photos on the menu to guide you, but the servers here are also really helpful when it comes to navigating the menu. If they see that you’re interested in some less common (at least for South Florida) dishes, they will steer you towards their favorites, like a green mango and cone snail salad perfect for a hot day. Don’t skip over the drinks section either. There are lots of tasty options, including a really satisfying fresh corn milk and an artichoke tea (when they have it) that tastes much better than it sounds." - Carlos C Olaechea

Love the free range chicken pho! It’s much healthier and more flavorful. The place specializes in free range authentic vietnamese chicken dishes. I love the Hainese chicken dish which is very hard to find in South Florida. Must try!!! Super friendly family owned restaurant.

The food was delicious, a real upgrade compared to Mama kitchen (previous name). We enjoyed the salad, dried Pha and wings.

This place is fantastic! The woman at the front—V, I believe her name was—was incredibly kind, fast, and efficient. She took the time to explain how the pho is prepared and even made thoughtful adjustments to our order. The restaurant itself was spotless, and V made sure to promptly clean and sanitize the counters after each guest. We ordered the chicken pho, and as New Yorkers who take soup seriously, we were beyond impressed. The broth was rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The chili oil? A perfect 10/10. We’ll definitely be back!

I came in today and had the pleasure of trying Mama Street Food's authentic Vietnamese Street Food, and it was an incredible experience! As a first-timer exploring these new flavors, I can confidently say that this hidden gem is destined for greatness, especially for those who enjoy bold and flavorful dishes. The crab meatball soup exceeded my expectations, with its perfect balance of spiciness and exquisite taste. The fried squid was a delightful surprise, as it was incredibly crispy and bursting with flavor. The steam clams were an absolute standout - their unique and flavorful profile left me wanting more. To complement our feast, we opted for Mama Street Food's house-made strawberry tea and peach tea. These refreshing beverages perfectly complemented the rich and diverse flavors of our meal, enhancing the overall dining experience. Despite being a small establishment with limited indoor and outdoor seating, the service was outstanding during my visit. The staff was attentive, friendly, and keen on ensuring we had an enjoyable time. Their exceptional service added an extra touch to the overall experience. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Mama Street Food to anyone seeking an authentic taste of Vietnamese Street Food in South Florida. The impressive range of dishes, combined with the welcoming atmosphere and top-notch service, creates an unforgettable dining experience. Don't miss out on this culinary delight!

We came on a busy Saturday well before closing, and they had already run out of many dishes. The dishes we did try were all underwhelming except for the bun rieu, which was well balanced. The crab was overpriced and didn't taste fresh. The other dishes had reasonable prices. Service was also pretty slow. We probably won't be back.

Google
Good place for very unique Vietnamese street food. Dishes you can’t find elsewhere like snails, chicken joints, and more. I was a bit disappointed that some menu items were simply unavailable, and that some options couldn’t be made vegetarian, but the staff were very friendly and suggested good alternatives. I really liked the calamari rings and the sauce that it came with. The chicken joints were good too! They also have a few classic dishes like Bun Bo Hue. Limited seating indoors and outdoors. Pretty pricey, but they have dishes you can’t get anywhere else in the area.

Had to try it to see if it's worth the hype and it really is. So good. The food is fresh and authentic. We sat outside at the little tables and stools and it reminded us of Vietnam, especially with the motorcycles parked in front. Definitely will come back if we are in Florida.

Yelp
Get the barbecue chicken! The meat was delicious, it's a bit chewier as I expected because they are aged chickens. The flavor has more depth. It came with a small soup. The broth was a 10! It appeared to be chicken broth with green onion. I could drink a gallon of it. My dish also came with yellow rice, pickled vegetables, tomato slices and cucumber slices. It was all delicious and plentiful for the price. The staff were nice to explain the menu to me. The food came out quickly. I like how cute the place is decorated. I' will be back for the soup and more Vietnamese barbecue chicken!

Yelp
I love love love Hainanese chicken rice, and while I know how to cook it and can make it pretty good, it's a major pain to prepare, unless you use the rice cooker hacke, but let's face it, not quite the real thing. So, when I heard of a new place in Davie selling not much else but Hainanese chicken rice, I had to visit asap. The restaurant is in the same spot as Mama Tofu. It's a smallish place, but then with a small menu it's not likely a place for a big gathering. My friend is rather disappointed that the menu has pared down to only a few items. Chicken, and chicken, and not much else. Want beef? sorry. Pork? Sorry. Vegan... bad luck. Now, if the food is in the name, and the only thing on the menu, I'd expect it to be very good, if not excellent. Which sadly it is not. I don't quite know how or why, but the chicken is rather bland and the meat not very tender. Okay, I may understand that if they use free range birds the meat may not be as tender. More exercise, more muscle and less fat. I totally get it. However, flavor is lacking, and that's not nice. The sauces are delicious, but if you cook the food right you shouldn't rely on sauces to flavor it up. Like in the dry pho, the dish overall is delicious because the sauce is yummy. But when I bite into the chicken itself, it's just firm and tasteless. I do hope they will continue to improve. I do so miss my chicken rice.

Yelp
Walkin Chicken It's probably sticken A lot of people hyped it up for me But food was definitely tasty We got the chicken pho And the rice platter for Hoi An duh The broth was probably the best chicken pho I ever had But I can't help that with Mama tofu gone it makes me sad So many good memories there And the menu items were good to share Service is still the same because they have the same staff And the ambiance is more clean like mama tofu took a bath

Yelp
Aesthetics and service were great but my Hainanese Chicken was actually pretty dry and the ginger sauce tasted too greasy with no flavor. I had to utilize a lot of the other sauce and even the sauce from the chicken dumplings. I ordered the fish sauce wings, in which the flavor outside was great but also inside DRY. I will say, food for value was great though.

Yelp
This place replaces the MaMa Street Food and MaMa Tofu that preceded it. The staff are the same, so maybe they just decided to go a different direction in the food they serve. They now focus on serving aged/free range chicken (sought after in Vietnamese cuisine because the meat has more texture - think slightly tougher meat making it chewier and giving it a bite.) Maybe this food just is not my cup of tea, but it felt lacking in flavor. The food is definitely fresher and loaded with herbs and citrus.

Yelp
My friend and I were in the area and stumbled upon this place last weekend. The food was so delicious and fresh, chicken super crispy, and I love that they give you pho broth even with the chicken meals. The broth was probably the best I've ever had. I definitely want to go back just to get the pho. V was so sweet and took such great care of us!! I would definitely come again

Yelp
We went to Walkin Chicken for the first time. The food was delicious we had the chicken soup, wings, and chicken dumplings. Our kids loved the dumplings, we ended up getting three servings. The service was fast and very friendly.
