"Connor Larkins is a basement Irish pub on Huntington Avenue filled with Northeastern students. It’s a good option if you want a drink and a quick bite before a game at Matthews Arena, or if you just went to something really classy at Symphony Hall and want to balance it out with cheap pitchers of beer and bar food." - Dan Secatore

Mamacita Mexican Comida is undoubtedly one of the best places near Northeastern serving burritos 🌯, rice bowls 🍜 and a lot more mouthwatering food which is super tasty after their unique sauces... My personal favourite has to be Mango Sauce which is a bit tangy and spicy but it's fun to make your food topped with it. To vegetarians looking for a meal, go for a rice bowl which allows you to have beans, tofu or falafel alongside vegetables and rice( the final version in the photographs below). Pro tip: Ask for the stamp to your loyalty card, to get the ninth meal for free 😛. A must try restaurant for vegetarians 💯! Well, I believe there should be more options for vegetarians ( I know it's too much to ask for) other than that this place has become my go-to place for sure! 😁

I had one order that was good, and one that was not. : FOOD: 2 Bowls Protein Choice Spicy Chicken Tinga Sauce Choice (3 max) Chipotle Aioli Sauce Choice (3 max) Tomatillo Chimichuri Chicken was overall moist though I had a couple small dried out pieces. They mistakenly gave me Pico instead of Tomatillo Chimichuri. However some of the pico I think was starting to turn because only the top tasted good. Still a good plate. Rice lightly seasoned, lovely, as was the Chipotle Aioli. Verdict: GOOD. Protein Choice Grilled Steak (+$3.00) Sauce Choice (3 max) Chipotle Aioli Sauce Choice (3 max) Tomatillo Chimichuri Toppings Addition (7 max) Guacamole Toppings Addition (7 max) Fried Plantains Toppings Addition (7 max) Pineapple Salsa Toppings Addition (7 max) Black Bean Toppings Addition (7 max) Refried Beans Toppings Addition (7 max) Shredded Romain Toppings Addition (7 max) Cucumber The Guacamole was soo good. The rice in this bowl was really not good. Greasy and flavorless, though it appeared to be seasoned and have peas in it and was brownish. It actually reminded me of the rice I got at a restaurant down the street on the same block that serves shwarma. The steak was cut into tiny chunks, and most were tough and chewy. The few I had that were seasoned well were lovely and tender, so I don't know what happened there. 1 x Fried Plantains: Verdict: Good. It is hard to mess up plantain. Nice and ripe, though they do have the nice tostones. I just didn't get any. Verdict: DON"T GET THE GRILLED STEAK FOR YOUR BOWL. GO FOR THE OTHER BEEF OPTIONS. SERVICE: So when I walked in to pick-up my order there were only 3 people at the front, who seemed exhausted, and the place was empty. They were serving one customer, but two people seemed to be focused on that. The other person was bagging chips for the chips and salsa I assume. This young woman with the chips said after I interjected and said hello and that was there to pick up my order that looked like it had been bagged up already and less than 3 feet away from me, "If she doesn't want to wait, I', not going to give it to her." She was speaking to her coworkers. I assumed she was speaking about me, as I was in a hurry, and I was right because when I unpacked the bag not complimentary chips or salsa was present. I wasn't rude, but she was clearly done, so I just chock it up to my impatience. Verdict: OKAY.

Google
This restaurant is a hidden gem! I ordered takeout so can’t comment on the facilities but let me tell you about the food. Latina here. This place is way better in terms of taste and quality of Mexican food than many of the restaurants in the area and the fact that they have very reasonable pricing makes it even better. Give it a try!

Google
No fuss eatery with a good selection of combinations for rice bowls, tacos, quesadillas and burritos. Really vibrant and fun atmosphere. Food is more functional than authentic but overall a good spot for a quick bite.

My Colleagues and I took students on a field trip for Spanish class to the MFA and we chose Mamacitas for our lunch after. This was our second time as a school eating at mamacitas and they were amazing. They were quick, kind, practiced Spanish with our kids, and reserved tables for us on a super short notice! The food was delicious and George gave me a delicious rice bowl with spicy homemade sauce! All of our students were so happy, especially after getting desert at the ice cream shop they also own down the street! Thank you guys for your hospitality and delicious food! We will be back again!

This is my second time coming to this place and I can't say enough positive things about this food. I would probably come here weekly if I lived locally. Unfortunately for me I live in a different state so I can only eat here when I visit my son at his college. The food is absolutely scrumptious! Oh my goodness it's so good! I've gotten several different things from there and not a single thing has been even mid. Every single bite is compoundly delicious. They often have house sangria or house margaritas available and they are expertly crafted. I usually limit myself to one but the sangria in particular is worth a second glass. There's spicy shredded chicken is my favorite thing. I would eat a bowl full of just that if I could. The marinated birria beef is mouth watering. The atmosphere is fun and playful and relaxing and welcoming. No matter where you sit in the restaurant there is something interesting and unique to look at. I plan on visiting this place every single time I'm up there. Absolutely divine food! 😋

Ordered chicken nachos on Uber Eats and received the wrong order. They gave me the pulled pork tacos (yuck) soggy at the bottom and disgusting 🤮 highly upset

Google
Very cozy and friendly vibe; the decor of the place is quite aesthetic, it’s hard not to stop by and check it out. The staff is also quite nice and the food was at a very affordable price. We ended up trying out several dishes. Highly recommend the quesabirria and the enchilada combo. Worth checking out if you’re in the area!

Yelp
Great service, great portions and fast service. Got the rice bowl and enchiladas here. Hard to go wrong if you're looking for fast-casual Mexican food that also tastes great.

Madeleine J.

Yelp
Standard fast Mexican food. Honestly, pretty comparable to a lot of the other Mexican places in the area like Amelia's and Jefe's, and at a similar price point too. I'm picky because I'm from California where the Mexican food is much better. My go to is the carnitas bowl and it is always enough for two meals. No specific complaints, it just lacks the flavor of more refined Mexican restaurants.

Katherine C.

Yelp
Mamacita is a fast casual Mexican food restaurant on Huntington Ave by Northeastern. I hate to say it but after hearing great things about Mamacita from Northeastern students, especially compared to El Jefes, I was pretty disappointed. The portions here are good but the food itself was average. I got rice, chicken, pineapple salsa, salsa verde, refried beans, lettuce, pickled onions, and onion and cilantro. The rice tasted like the kind from a bag and the most flavor I tasted was from the onions. It wasn't horrible but I think El Jefes is much better and I don't even love it that much. It is a better place to go if you want to sit but I wouldn't come back.

Danielle G.

Yelp
An upscale chipotle-style restaurant, you order at the counter. There is a glass partition with different types of meats, beans, rice, taco toppings, etc. You can get tacos, a bowl, grilled corn, drinks, etc. Looks like a staple for the university community nearby. Was pretty good!

Vicki M.

Yelp
Awesome as always! What a great atmosphere! Great fun music, amazing decor, good filling tasty food and good service great value! What more could you ask for???? Go here if you haven't already! One tip - get their loyalty card and get it stamped every time for rewards! Have your 9th meal on them!!!

Kathryn V.

Yelp
Food was good but my friend and I noticed (after finishing our food) that there were several mice running around on top of the counter where the hot sauces were laid out. Trash cans were under that counter so I imagine that's what the mice were interested in. There were also tons of mouse traps (the glue kind ) around, under the seats. I had my service dog with me and I'm so glad his tail didn't get stuck to one. I know it's Boston and it's very difficult to keep vermin controlled but this was gross. I won't be coming back.

Chirag P.

Yelp
The Northeastern U area has quite a shortage of decent Mexican food. Qdoba..ehh, plus was way better in 2005 - 2010 time when the mole sauce existed. El Jefe's Taqueria is good but there lacks some flavor/spices. Same with Amelias Taqueria. Then came this place. Ordered delivery. First off one of the few places that serves pupusas, I think closest other place that does that is in Brigham Circle, so awesome! Also ordered double decker taco chicken tinga, burrito with barbacoa, chips and queso. - Pupusas: I ordered two, I think they need to update doordash because looks like there were two different kinds, both were delicious! The slaw was well seasoned but not watery, and the tomato sauce with it was excellent. - Double decker chicken tinga taco: I could taste the tinga flavors through and through, was great! My only regret, my own fault, probably should've skipped refried beans because the hard shell was soft by the time it was delivered. - Chips and queso: Queso tasted good, similar to taco bell nacho cheese. If you're not into that kind of cheese, skip it, but I like it. - One giant Barbacoa burrito: Won't be dissappointed by the size, they fill that tortilla to the brim. Trying to take a photo of it, but if I cut it in half, it would be quite a mess, but great ingredients, great barbacoa! I didn't ask for rice but was in there anyway, guess next time will put note no rice. All and all, good food delivered. Will stop on by one day in the restaurant too.

Yelp
Came with my family to eat some dinner and just as we were finished we saw 2 mice running around. I also noticed a bug near the food area which scared me to death.

Desiree D.

Yelp
Neat Mexican place in the basement on my way back from Isabella Stewart Gardner museum. Decent price and large burritos with a side of chips - be hungry or plan to share.

Michael B.

Yelp
To be honest, I go here more often than I should. But why not? It's amazing. I always get a burrito, and they're enourmous and delicious. Servers are kind, and the vibe in the dining room is great. They also have a rewards card that I use to justify my excessive burrito ordering.

Jeff Z.

Yelp
A personal favorite! Service is always fast and portions are fair for boston. Watch out for the hot sauce though, if it says it hot it's really hot lol. Will recommend!

Nandini A.

Yelp
A really cute place to get Mexican food! The artwork was fun and colorful. The seating was also roomy and there were even cushioned seats in the back. The service was a lot like chipotle and we were served very quickly. The ingredients tasted fresh, the bowl wasn't too salty, and the rice was so flavorful. I didn't feel weighed down afterward. The portions were quite big and could probably last for multiple meals or people. They had so many options that it could fit pretty much any dietary restriction. Vegetarians should try the tofu or Mexican falafels if you are looking for a protein. This is a great place for families or students to share a meal.

Andrea C.

Yelp
We go here atleast once a week! Quick, local, friendly, good portion sizes, and super tasty. It's kinda like what chipotle wishes it could be. Highly recommend for the next time you need a quick meal!

Armin M.

Yelp
Some of the best Mexican street food in Boston! Between the four of us, we had the quesadillas, tacos, burritos and churros.... Wins all around.

Sam P.

Yelp
Walked in on a whim. Very fresh fare generous portions and very delicious. I will return.

Mugdha K.

Yelp
This place is one of the best Mexican eateries. Having tried Qdoba, Chipotle, and Cava, I'd say this one is the best so far with a variety of scrumptious tapas. A bunch of us had visited this place and we each tried a different dish including tacos (birria, regular and double decker), enchilada and a bowl and all of us were blown by the taste. The service is great and you can enjoy drinks if you like. It is definitely a must try!

Miguel C.

Yelp
Second time here. Food was generally very good. But I don't recommend getting the steak as the protein. My tacos had several hard/fatty pieces.

Julie P.

Yelp
My current favorite takeout spot! I stumbled upon this restaurant while searching for taco delivery. I haven't been thrilled with orders elsewhere so decided to give this a try. So glad I did because I have ordered 3-4 times over the past month or so! I especially love the options for tacos. First, they have an adobo seasoned tofu (I always get this) or Mexican falafel (haven't tried yet). Then, a variety of sauces (I go with the Chile aioli). And finally things like cheese and pickled jalapeño. An order comes with two tacos with double tortillas. The downside is that the tacos don't stay together all the time. They often get soggy and fall apart. If you are looking for takeout vegetarian tacos plus chips and guacamole, try this place out!

Jen O.

Yelp
Wow. Delicious. I ordered in for the first time. The rice bowl was plentiful. The green sauce was SO GOOD. Everything was flavorful which I find lacking in a lot of the high-volume Mexican restaurants in Greater Boston (even the authentic ones, not the chains).

Andrei M.

Yelp
I've lived in this neighborhood for a few years now and hands down, this is the best overall taqueria around here! they have the largest menu and everything is amazin, you can taste the difference in flavor profile! Plus, they have margaritaaaaaaaasss....... highly recommend

Lawrence D.

Yelp
There's a couple other Mexican restaurants on Huntington Ave, but this one definitely stands out from the rest. They have unlimited free toppings like El Jeffe's, but I'd say the differentiating factor is their ambiance and potentially their specials. If you'd like to sit down and enjoy your food in a wonderfully decorated and vibey atmosphere, you should give this place a shot. (Will update once the special menu is available)

Reshma K.

Yelp
Aww what a lovely decor..! We made it here tad before noon and there wasn't a long line to place the order. I ordered the rice bowl with spicy chicken tings and pinto beans and fried plantains, onions and tomato salsa. My bowl was mighty delicious. They have numerous toppings to choose from. The service was quick, decor vibrant and food super delicious. Highly recommend Mamacita for some healthy, filling, real food.

Kristin D.

Yelp
BIIIGGG FAN. I LOVE this place and whenever somebody asks me for a recommendation near Northeastern's campus I recommend here. The prices can be slightly higher than the other Mexican food places nearby but you get a bang for your buck! The portion sizes are generous (the quesadillas are STUFFED to the brim) and I usually struggle to finish the whole thing in one sitting. All fixings are included, no extra cost for guac. The people there are friendly enough, and there is always space inside to sit. They also have punch cards (8 meals and the 9th one free) that partners with Sprout and 2 other nearby restaurants. I go at least once a week and have never been disappointed.

Logan D.

Yelp
Think Chipotle but better in every way. More variety including double decker taco, enchiladas, and quesabirria tacos. All the protein options looked delicious, including the vegetarian ones. A good list of toppings and sauces as well. Everything just looked authentic and tasted amazing.

Alejandra D.

Yelp
Great homemade Mexican food. Informal , warm and clean space. Really responsive staff. We ordered a burrito, rice bowl and quesadillas. The burrito and the quesadillas were amazing ! Rice bowl was good, with a nice kick. We shared some churros as dessert. Great experience, home made food at great prices.

Susan M.

Yelp
Reviews were good, prices were good, and place was cute, but I'm sorry to say, food wasn't good.

Kevin P.

Yelp
No sauces with the tacos or onions and cilantro. Needs more love to their food. Good flavor but where is the sauce

Liam S.

Yelp
Currently sitting in the ER waiting room with my girlfriend after both eating Mamacita's last night. Had a small lunch with no meat in it and the onset of symptoms was exactly within range of that of food poisoning after we had eaten their chicken quesadilla's. Terrible nausea all day and have been unable to consume any fluids in 24 hours. Moreover, my brother ate the pork with no sickness at all, while my girlfriend and I both had the chicken and have been out of commission all day - leading us to strongly believe it was the chicken. Not one to usually write bad reviews like this, but we attempted to contact the restaurant to let them know they may have some infected chicken, to which they basically told us to go away - leaving me no other choice but to come to Yelp.

Mary C.

Yelp
Ok so I keep giving this place the benefit of the doubt, but honestly I'm always disappointed. I get 5 pupusa and only get two small side of curtido slaws( like hello are we supposed to eat ) And is not a cheap place to eat five pupusa two drinks is 30 plus then 10% tips $3. Im ok with this place......... I guess I would have to go to East Boston for pupusa

Quaime L.

Yelp
There are several options for this genre within a short distance of each other. I often overlooked Mamacita in ignorance of just how good their food is. No more. I work in the area and am "on ground" 2-3 days each week. Since someone recommended this place to me a few weeks ago, they have become my default "go to." The staff is very pleasant and friendly. The meats are thoroughly cooked, flavorful and tender. You have ample sides/toppings that are done with care. And the price is quite reasonable. I look forward to heading there again this upcoming week!

Govi L.

Yelp
Pretty okay restaurant. I ordered carnitas enchiladas and would rate it 3/5. What makes my rating higher is the customer service and aesthetic of the restaurant. Very cool place with pretty walls and good music. Overall 4/5

Vincent S.

Yelp
Please know, this is not a ritzy establishment by any means, and the food is not "cuisine". HOWEVER...this is located within/around the Northeastern University campus on Huntington Avenue. I was recently there with my wife and daughter for a college visit. I was curious about it because of the multiple positive reviews, and our family-love of Mexican food for comfort. We ordered: a carnitas pork burrito, a carnitas pork rice bowl, chicken tacos, nachos, fried plantains, and a few specialty drinks. We absolutely loved ALL of it. And even better, the SERVICE was outstanding. The gentleman that took our order was very helpful, informative, patient, and kind. I hope I have another excuse to drive into the city again soon! NO HESITATION. We were so excited to eat, we forgot to take pictures!

Phoebe L.

Yelp
Born and raised in San Diego and I have to say this is my favorite Mexican restaurant I've found in Boston so far. I usually go simple with beans, cheese, rice, and chicken only and they always give me extra of everything when they realize that's all I'm getting which no other build-your-own type place does. Good food.

Mickey B.

Yelp
Stopped here with my friends before a concert at Fenway later that night. Hadn't done any research, just picked it on a whim. It looked authentic and cool inside so we wanted to give it a shot. Good thing we did! Everything was awesome from food to service to ambiance. The decor was super cool and just gave off a welcoming vibe. Was everything we were looking for to start us off on a great note before a fantastic concert! Thank you staff of Mamacita for being so friendly and welcoming!

April K.

Yelp
You know it's bad when you wish you went Qdoba instead... Prices do not match what they posted online. On their website it says $9.50 for a burrito and $1 extra for steak. When you get there, it's $10 a burrito and $2 extra for steak. Not a huge deal but they were incredibly stingy with the portions. My bf ate cup noodles after eating his burrito bowl. Also the ingredients taste like cafeteria food. Flavorless over cooked rice, way too salty meat, and bad store-bought tortillas. So unsatisfying. They also charged an extra $1 for a tortilla on the side. Corn tasted like canned corn.

Yum I.

Yelp
At the risk of sounding like a jerk this place is what Chipotle should be. The food is so fresh and so delicious. Ordered a steak bowl and it was cooked to perfection. I only mention chipotle because of the ordering similarities but the food here is far superior in taste and quality. When in town I'll likely be making an appearance again. Lucky students....

Angela T.

Yelp
the fact that ive lived in boston for 3 years & just discovered mamacita's is criminal. holy beans, this place is AMAZING. i got a massive carnitas burrito & filled it to the brim with the unlimited toppings, including guac, cojita cheese, pineapple salsa, & spicy aioli. chipotle could literally never. quick & friendly service & really cute decor. extra bonus points for whoever was on aux.

Marcella H.

Yelp
The food here is always good and typically well made. However I visited on 5/8 and the service wasn't as good as usual. There is the same employee there who always seems annoyed and is snippy, but always makes the food well. However this time he sloppily put the food together and then only gave my partner one fried plantain on their quesadilla (they usually give 3). He also only half filled my side of guacamole until i asked him to put more. Overall, still a good place and will return but beware this worker may put a damper on your experience.

Steve F.

Yelp
First time, had the carnitas taco and my daughter had the carnitas burrito bowl. Both were very good, plentiful, and fresh. Will be back!

Deborah S.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh, authentic food! I did a custom veggie burrito and it was delicious! Excellent service, fun decor, would gladly return. Prices are very reasonable too.

Amy P.

Yelp
OMG!!! So glad I found you! This place is absolutely delicious. Such a great space too. Extremely fair prices and generous portions, friendly staff too!

Miles M.

Yelp
Food is so good. place looks like it won't be much on the outside but the inside is real nice. staff is great food is even better

Ely H.

Yelp
A perfect quick-bite college-student-affordable restaurant! Mamacitas has some amazing burritos, tacos, burrito bowls, and authentic Mexican drinks and desserts. You can be in an out in as little five minutes if you want, or sit in the beautifully decorated dining area. I HIGHLY recommend a burrito bowl with carnitas and a guava juice!

Tom L.

Yelp
Everything is fresh --- and it shows as everything we got -- very basic quesadilla, taco and rice bowl -- the fresh flavors were obvious. Wish we had one in Hershey, Pa!

Alex M.

Yelp
Convenient delicious and great pricing from college student to young professional best lil taco spot in the area

Stefa O.

Yelp
I usually get a bowl with the spicy chicken tinga and a bunch of other toppings and its amazing. The food has so much flavor and it's so delicious. In my opinion Mamacita is above jefes and amelias. Everyone should give it a try!

John F.

Yelp
great vibe, great affordable food, and friendly staff. love it! try it out if you are in the area and passing by. it's a super cool spot that will definitely surprise you. everything feels super fresh as well
