Mamacita's

First time here and is now our new place to enjoy a mexican meal. Best poblano pepper I've had in quite some time. Charro beans and rice were very tasty, even their iced tea is good! My husband had the chimichanga and on recommendation from our server, he put the con queso all over his chimi and loved it! Atmosphere feels like it is family owned and ran! Very enjoyable dinner!!

I got the Mamacita's Combo plate as it was my first time visiting I wanted to try a bit of a few things. It was good but for my taste buds it lacked a bit of flavor. Nothing a bit of salt can't fix I suppose. The service was okay again for what I'm used to it was a bit lacking. Could possibly be due to we were there close to closing & they were ready to wind down. Price range is typical to most places & a good value for your money. Gratuity is already included. Our party of 11 for the most part enjoyed our Friendsgiving dinner. I would visit again just to give it another try.

Stopped in for lunch and glad I did, food was excellent! I went with the black beans, very good!!!

Had a work meeting here and was only able to get the one picture. Felt service was a little slow, but not a big deal. We were off in a side room and I felt it was a little warm, actually sweating, but again, not a big deal. I had the street taco carnitas and they were pretty good! Will definitely be back to sample other plates.

The last time I ate at this Mamacitas, I took my Father from his Nursing Home to enjoy one of his last meals there with my Mother. He was 94 yrs. old and was in and out of it during our visit but he seemed to enjoy his meal so much. The Wait Staffed treated us kindly and checked on us frequently! He passed days later but I know he loved the food there! Thanks Mamacitas for always being there! 👍🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼❤️⛄️😂

We came for dinner around 7pm but their sign was off and the lights in the parking was off too! They were however open and after a lovely dinner the lights outside were on when we left. Service was a tad slow but very nice. Food was good. For the price point I just expected more.

It was my first visit here, and was impressed enough that I’ll come again to try out other menu items. I got the ground beef mini-chimichanga off the lunch specials menu. I’m not sure why they call it ‘mini’ because it took up half the plate! The food is pretty good, but typical Tex-Mex. The chips were fresh, and I liked their salsa. I was impressed by how attentive the waitstaff was. My ice tea never got below half before they refilled it.

My family and I have pasted by several times and thought we should try it. Tonight (11/28) we decided to give it a try rather our normal "bigger" chain Mexican restaurant. My kid loves the fresh flour tortillas and when we asked for some, the waiter said an order comes in a set of "3." I thought this was an odd comment but didn't think anything of it. We were going to get fajitas for our dinner so getting charge didn't cross my mind. We get our bill, and noticed we were charged $2 per order for some small tortillas. I think we got "1" order free with our fajita meal. We were trying to get back on the road to head home so I wasn't going to waste time speaking to a manager about it, even though our first order only had "2" but again just decided to not deal with the hassle of it. Food was OK, nothing special, better fajitas at a number of different restaurants, even a couple that aren't Mexican restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpful so that was a plus but hope the day never comes when they charge for chips and salsa.

Our family loves Mamacitas on 290! Juan has been our waiter for many years and he is absolutely the best waiter I have ever experienced!! He is so nice, always has our drinks ready for us when we walk in and he makes us feel so welcomed!! Not to mention the Food is awesome!

My mom and I generally dine at Mamacitas on 290 every week or so. Our favorite server is Juan, he tries to make everyone feel good and feel seen. The food is really good as well.

Decided to try the place since we've driven by it several times on our way to our preferred Mexican restaurant (Chuy's). Due to the company we were with, we couldn't go there. Next time, we will just separate from them and go to Chuy's. The food was subpar but better at not only Chuy's but several other places. On a plus note, the staff was friendly so at least that was a good experience. The biggest turn off for Mamacita is when we asked for tortillas, we were charged $2 per order. We ordered fajitas so I think we got one order for free but I don't know if I've ever been charged for tortillas at a Mexican restaurant in Texas. What next, charge for chips and salsa? The waiter did mention when we asked for tortillas 3 came in an order. I thought it was an odd comment and I should of known then but didn't think anything of it since we were getting fajitas anyway. The first order only had 2 in the order so that made it even made it more disappointing of a visit here. We needed to leave so I didn't want to deal with speaking with anyone about it. I just know next time, this place isn't for me and we convince anytime someone wants to go there to find a different place to eat.

Went with a large party in the private room. Such a large group and service was amazing. Our server was so helpful and on top of it. The busboy we had kept Salsa and soft drinks filled. Food came out fresh and tasted amazing. It was a great experience!

Great customer service and prompt response. Came here to check on their private party room for a Baby Shower. The manager, Emilio, was very accommodating and helped me find a time that would still work for my party & date. Hostesses were cheery & professional and the food looked and smelled wonderful! The private banquet room is very nice, smoked sliding glass doors + its own walkway to the Restrooms and outside patio area as well. They have packages and allow a la carte too which is great. I look forward to hosting my event here in October.

Visited here for lunch. Give. That there are at least five other Mexican options within five minutes of this place, I wasn't surprised that it wasn't crowded. They start you with a soup which I think was chicken noodle. It felt a little odd but it was rainy that day so it fit the mood. I ordered one of the lunch specials featuring a cheese enchilada taco. It hit the spot but nothing about the recipe stood out to me and made me want more. The interior was spacious but the booths have definitely seen better days. Staff was friendly. Our server quickly closed our check and departed before we left but we didn't need anything else. It "wasn't bad" but in a city filed with Tex Mex options, I don't see myself making it back.

Food was delicious , chips and salsa hot and fresh but the service was awful. We were ignored until another couple sat down beside us, then finally helped. Service didn't improve from there, and our server seemed like he didn't want to serve us at all. Sadly, despite the great food, I wouldn't come back. I wouldn't recommend it. There are too many Mexican restaurants that serve similar tasting food to deal with terrible service.

My coworker ate here while in town for work. The fajitas were pretty good, the salsa was fantastic (especially the green one) and the margarita was even better. I'm a little surprised by the 3 star rating so I'm giving it 4. The bartender was attentive as well and we watched the Houston Rodeo which was going on from the bar. Great place. Would go back.

Been coming here for years and will continue to come here. Great food. Great service. The environment is very comforting and welcoming. I recommend this place to whoever reads this! Yaya is the best waitress in the world!

Pretty good food for the price! I work in the area and frequent here for lunch. Had many work lunches and big parties here. They have a variety of lunch specials. I usually get the chicken flautas or the chicken Milanesa. In my opinion the chicken milanesa gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Staff is very friendly, most of the time they are quick but I have had experiences where it took quite a long time to get a server hand us our tickets. I've also had their margs, birria tacos, and queso before! All really good. Decent place to eat.

Spending the night in Houston, I've sampled every restaurant on this block over the past year, but this is my first visit to this Mexican spot! I absolutely loved it. It brought back some wonderful memories. The ambiance was very cozy, and the service was outstanding--every single server checked in to see if I needed anything, making it feel like a true team effort. The chips and salsa were delicious, perfectly warm and not too spicy. The Margarita Martini was refreshing, and the caldo de res tasted just like home!

We had a total of 25 people for breakfast and lunch today after Mass. Andrea was INCREDIBLE I think I can speak for everyone she Handled everything like a pro from beginning to end. If you want the best service ask for Andrea you will not be disappointed I promise. Andrea thank you again you are amazing. Thanks Tony Ferraro

My husband and I used to eat here EVERY Friday for several years. We even had our daughter's wedding rehearsal here back in 2016. It was so much fun, the food WAS good and the serving size generous. During Covid we continued to eat there and leave generous tips to help this restaurant (and others) stay afloat. NOW, since 2022, it's changed. It's not the same. I don't know if it's the GM or who has taken away the fun, the food quality and portion sizes or what, but we've tried going back several times -- we've moved on to other TexMex.

Love-love it here! Sitting outside with my Artist buddy and having a blast! Ordered some guacamole and think I'll have the cheese enchilada plate! Muy Bueno! Josael, our waiter, is a real dreamboat!

Had our worst experience of service there this morning. We went for our Sunday Menudo. We were seated and our drink orders taken as well meal. We recieved the drinks quickly. No chips and salsa were brought to the table so I asked if they changed the policy on chips and salsa serve said now and he would be right back with them 10 minutes passed. I asked what appeared to be the manager and chips were brought right away. We were now 15 minutes in and the customers were getting served all around us. But not menudo ever showed up after 35 minutes no waiter or manager ever showed back up I left 4 dollars for my wife's soda and we left

Always great, dining in or delivery. Food is consistently good and service is always great. It's a large place so you don't feel squished together close to another table. Love their street corn and birria tacos. Charro beans are flavorful. And they do a great job packaging crispy tacos to go and for delivery. Everything is done separately so your shells don't get soggy on the way & you can put your taco together at home; nice & crispy still.

Always good food, service and atmosphere. Yaya is the best and always makes sure you're taken care of.

Every time I order take out they forget to give me my drink. Make sure to check the order every time you're here, because if it ain't the drinks, then I'll be the chips & salsa

I personally don't like place. I ordered taco salad. The meat wasn't seasoned ,the lettuce was mixed greens .the service was on point .

The service was phenomenal and the food was tasty. I had a fantastic dining experience at Mamacitas! The birria tacos were delicious, and the service was outstanding. The ambiance is family friendly, creating the perfect setting for a memorable meal. I appreciate the attention to detail and the friendly staff. Looking forward to returning soon!

Service was excellent on a busy Sunday lunch run. Tortillas are homemade and tasty. The combination beef and chicken fajitas were very good. I would eat here again !

The Mole poblano was excellent. They used chicken breast so no bones. Ask for a sample of the Mole if you aren't sure. I loved it!

The service today was horrible. The absolute worse waiter I have experienced. The margarita I tried to drink was just not good at all. Tasted like they use a cheap mixer and cheap to the tequila. Every time I have been here it has been good but this waiter today should not be allowed to wait tables. It will be a long time before I return. The waiter was told the margarita tasted horrible and he did not care one bit. May try again this summer.

The food was decent for the price , although there are some items i have a slight regret for ordering , such as the beef fajitas , they were under seasoned and a bit chewy. The flour tortillas are very good. :) Queso is not watered down here! Great consistency and tasty. The restaurant itself is nice , good seating not too crowded. The servers were nice and very polite. Service time was 6.7/10 we had to wait a bit too long for our drinks ( water, Tea) their salsa is pretty good too!!! the red salsa is to die for. I would return here only for their flour tortillas and red salsa. Maybe ill give something else a try? who knows....../:

We always end up back here for Thirsty Thursday happy hour. The service is always friendly and they don't mind being a little social. There are some dishes I might prefer somewhere else, but dishes like the enchiladas suizas and the tampico grill are good. The Queso is good and the salsa is nice and warm. They don't mind substitutions, and happily bring me extra cilantro and a grilled jalapeno. The carne guisada is pretty good but not my favorite. The happy hour strawberry margaritas a pretty strong, and tasty!

My husband and I brought our little grand daughter here and we enjoyed it immensely! The food is absolutely delicious and the customer service was top notch! Their drinks are very good and strong for people who love strong drinks like myself. The menu has several items that you can choose from. They have a photographer that will take a picture of you and your family or friends if you so desire. It does cost to purchase the photos. Overall this restaurant has great customer service, great Mexican cuisine, cleanliness, and an exciting atmosphere. It's family oriented and feels like home, comfortable and relaxing! I highly recommend the beef, shrimp, and chicken fajita platter with rice and beans for the entree. I also recommend that you order the queso and guacamole to accompany the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa that they give you. It's delicious!

Recently prices were increased at this place while quality seems to have decreased. Back in the day you could order a Milanesa de pollo & it would be a piece as big as the plate for less than $15 Now its priced at $17 ? For this tiny , dry & tasteless piece of overcooked chicken. I used to love this place , the staff has always been kind & welcoming. Food was really disappointing the last couple times we've visited but I decided to give it one last try via Doordash & this is what I received. Sad to know I won't be returning again.

Good service! Love the different salsa options. Ask for the Habanero salsa if you're ready for some heat. Delicious food every time! Great place for family and friends.

Mamacitas has a different definition of "Full Order" when it comes to their beef nachos...$12 for 8 corn chips with cheese and sprinkle of ground beef.

Visiting from out of town for work. Asked the hotel receptionist for good margarita recs. She said here without hesitation. I will give it to her that the margaritas and food were tasty, but that's about the only good thing I experienced on my visit. A bar that seats 12 never had more than 6 people at it including me and it still took exceptionally long to even get a menu. I ordered the blackberry basil margarita which was phenomenal. The menu says on the rocks only, and I asked for it to be on the rocks, yet still ended up with a frozen one. I finished my whole large margarita slowly before I had to fetch the bartenders attention again for another drink and my food order. I then ordered a half order of nachos. Ground beef, white queso, pico de gallo. Very simple nacho order. Well the picture is what I received. Not ground beef, not white queso(cheese dip style), most certainly not pico. While they were still tasty, the lackluster customer service and negligence in order accuracy leaves a lot to be desired. Even as I sit here typing this I have not been asked how the food is, if I need anything, etc and there are only 4 other people at the bar. Thank you very much to the cooks BOH here because you're killing it. Maybe it was just an off night, I may return later this week and see if a table is maybe a different experience.

Food was excellent, service was TRASH!!! My waiters name was Jose. He only came to initially take our order, which we were rushed. He wanted all the big tables and we were overlooked. No tip and he knows why. Thank you

Meh at best- service again today lacked and the food was cold and greasy. Flautas we're flat and you could squeeze grease from it and the refried beans were glossy with all the grease that was sitting on top.

It's a bit on the pricey side but for the service I experienced i feel it's worth it. The food I feel is quality as well. A nice place to eat when you want a change of pace from the ordinary. I love close by but only been a hand full of times. Each time I enjoy the service & fresh food. I usually go for breakfast/brunch but may need to try them for dinner sometime soon.

It's always festive and friendly here. The food is always delicious! I ordered the San Antonio Enchiladas.

It's my first time here and this experience was extremely disappointing. Our waiter (new lady) got our order wrong, then dropped our food, by the time everyone finish their food- we had no one checking on us and had to ask for the manager to get an update on our food. After we asked for the manager we never saw our waiter again, she didn't apologize and once the food came out the order was still wrong... Overall I don't recommend this restaurant, very juvenile service, lazy customer service, and not professional.

They have roaches and the manager asked me how many did I see. I showed him the picture and he was unbothered. Not to mention I still had to pay for food that I completely did not want to eat.

Quality of food has dropped tremendously, please do not come for breakfast their coffee is crap it taste like they were to lazy to change the coffee packet and just kept brewing the same one for a while, my kid asked for cranberry juice and was brought fizzy red soda (I have no idea what flavor). The barbacoa was slimy and greasy. They don't cook the over medium eggs well, it was more over easy than anything. Their food is overpriced for the poor quality. The menudo is crap it tastes like they dont wash the skin well. Their charro beans tastes old. I have no idea what the kitchen is doing but damn it's terrible. Never coming here again.

Great service, friendly staff, nice ambiance, fantastic food and drinks, employees (especially Gina, Jose, and Henry) went above and beyond our expectations. We will definitely be back to our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Dan & Gwen Schaneville

First of all i had stated some facts about this 2 star restaurant The service is 1 star at best we have to keep asking for straws, napkins and the mangocita that I had order I didn't even drink all of it. no taste at all but a whole lot of liquior The food is bland and no taste at all I am dare to compare this restaurant food to Taco bells. That is pretty bad. The only reason I even gave a 2 Stars is the chips and salsa. that saved the extra star otherwise it will be a 1 star for me. Will not return in the nearest future unless they do some major changes to the food and the service. For the high price you are paying with Chuys and other Mexican restaurant around they better watchout.

I ordered the carnitas. And my husband order the stuffed avocado. Both were really bad. Even the side dish of pinto beans and Mexican rice were not edible. Service was awful too. We will not be returning.

We have been here a few times to dine in. Food and service have always been good. I ordered tortilla soup to-go. It was as good at home. I appreciated all they did to make my eating experience as good as home. Ambiance is warm and inviting. Typical upscale Mexican restaurant. We will definitely be returning.

I come here for business lunches. There's never a wait during the day. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food is good but nothing really special. For the prices I would expect more but I don't complain as it's always business lunches and the company is paying for it. I've tried their flavored teas and won't get them again, stick to soda. Maybe one day I'll come by in the evening and check out their drink specials.
