First time visiting maman and we loved it!! Our server Heidy was phenomenal, very sweet and attentive. The food was delicious - it tasted fresh and very flavorful. The restaurant itself is beautiful - I felt like I truly was in French country. Thank you for a wonderful brunch !

Husband and I spent a good 2 hours in the outdoor seating area under the shade. We enjoyed the pistachio and orange blossom pasties with lattes. He got the seasonal iced tahini latte which was so good. I got the orange blossom latte but I wish it had more milk. It was more like an espresso drink than a latte. We enjoyed our time here. Great spot for people watching, catching up with friends, reading, and just relaxing!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had a fantastic experience at this amazing place! The coffee was incredible—I had my first amazing latte in a while, and it truly hit the spot. The food was delicious, and everything was beautifully presented. The place was clean, well-organized, and the decor was absolutely stunning—above and beyond what I expected. Thank you to everyone for the great service and hard work. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Excellent service and vibes, food is good. This is such a cute cafe, perfect for lunch or brunch. The service is very fast and friendly. Breiner was very helpful to me and kind. I got the sandwich croissant which was good but didn’t stand out too much. I didn’t get the lemon cream cheese flavor very much, but there was a generous amount of salmon which was nice.

This was my first Maman Bethesda visit and it was due to a tgtg bag deal. The entrance is beautiful and inviting, the café is spacious with good indoor and outdoor seating, and the pastries were fresh and delicious. I would definitely visit again when in downtown Bethesda.

Google
This is a really nice French style bakery that has great breakfast food and lunch menu. I had the quiche and the portion was big and the crust was perfect. The greens had a really nice dressing and tasted like they were picked 5 minutes ago. I can't wait to go back for lunch. Great location, and it's a really classy place, I was expecting to run into Jackie Kennedy or something

We have been wanting to go but it is a bit out of way. Today we happened to be in the area around the afternoon tea time so we gave it a try. The ambiance is lovely and servers are attentive. We ordered cappuccino, chocolate and pistachio croissant, egg ratatouille, quiche and a sandwich. Pity parfait and overnight oats are over. Everything was decent but not spectacular. I think it’s a good choice to hang out on a Sunday afternoon. Might try to come back again to sample more Stuff.

Google
This place never disappoints! From the moment we walked in, Breiner greeted us with genuine kindness and great energy. Every detail was on point — delicious food, stunning decor, and don’t even get me started on the pistachio croissant… it’s heavenly!

Yelp
Quick Summary: Nice spot near Bethesda row for coffee and pastries. Food Options (Pastries, Menu): menu Machine Manufacturer: ? Beans: ? Cup Type (Porcelain, Glass, Paper): fancy porcelain Milk Options Avail: various Latte Art (None, Ok, Great): Ok Time taken: 5 mins Merch Avail (Yes or No): no Parking (Plentiful or Minimal): none but garage nearby Indoor Seating (Plentiful or Minimal): plentiful Outdoor Seating (Yes or No): none Cleanliness (1-5): 5 Ambiance (1-5): 5 Review: This place has an upscale feel and a French vibe. They have a large variety of 'fancy' pastries available as well as other brunch type foods. I had a cinnamon roll which was not your typical. It was very flaky and crispy and had honey on it. Not exactly a honey bun but the flavor was good. My latte was very good! The milk was textured well and a good temperature. The drink is served in a fancy coffee mug but the barista was still able to produce a nice latte heart. Overall, this is a nice cafe if you want a shopping break in Bethesda.

Yelp
Tuesday 6/17/2025 This was not a planned visit at all: I was walking with my bro and as he went to get coffee until I became very interested in the bakery items I saw. The service was nice and friendly: they helped me choose the best selections based on their recommendations. I decided to get the cinnamon bun kouign maman $6, the pistachio chocolate croissant $5.50, and the Nutella beignet $6. - The cinnamon bun kouign maman was very disappointing. The texture was hard, even after being placed in the microwave. It didn't really resemble the taste of a cinnamon bun and doesn't resemble much of the kouign aman that I've had in the past, which are usually soft and buttery (similar to croissants). - The pistachio chocolate croissant was decent, and it was one of the staff's recommendations, so props to them. - The Nutella beignet was probably my favorite, and once again, it was another great recommendation from the staff. It's an airy and fluffy donut that has a light amount of filling inside. A $6 donut is definitely on the higher end, but it's worth a try. All in all, it's alright. I wouldn't go out of my way to return, but I'm glad I was able to try it. -- For more FOOD content, follow me on Instagram: @issa.cheatday

Yelp
Took myself on a solo brunch date to maman, and had a great time. Because I was by myself they sat me at the bar which was small (the only con). Very cute vibe and decent food. I love the variety of pastries. So much to choose from. Will for sure be back!

Yelp
From the moment you walk in, the vibe is immaculate--clean lines, soft light, and thoughtful decor that makes every corner photo-worthy. The atmosphere is peaceful but never pretentious. Add in smooth espresso, creative drinks, and kind baristas--it's a full sensory experience.

Yelp
Absolutely loved my visit to Maman! I had the Papa's Breakfast Bowl and Anna's Belgian Waffles, both were delicious. The bowl was hearty and flavorful, with perfectly cooked eggs and fresh ingredients. The waffles were light and crispy on the outside, and topped just right - not too sweet . Cozy atmosphere and friendly service made it even better. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
My first time coming here. I gravitated towards the baked goods - saw the Nutella Brownies and Nutella Beignets. I'll have to try those on a future visit (can't go wrong with Nutella). Somehow, I zoned everything out and opted to get the Citrus Olive Oil Loaf Cake with Strawberry White Chocolate. The name alone is what got me to try it in the first place. Best Decision Ever. I enjoyed the loaf cake, the chocolate, just everything. If I had my way, I would have gotten all of the slices they had. Now, when can I go back and get more of "that" Citrus Olive Oil Loaf Cake. YUM!!!

Yelp
Solid caffein option in Bethesda. I'm making my (g)rounds in search of my go-to coffee shop. I recently scheduled a business meeting at Maman, hoping to both get some work done, and scope out this case del caffe. It's got a vibe to it. A little feminine for my tastes, but that's subjective. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and free wifi. Cool. But its a coffee house, so how's the java? I have to be honest, dear reader - the coffee is unremarkable, and the very lite breakfast fare is very overpriced. I'm not into the $16-20 range for a nibble - I can make a pretty rockin' breakfast for 20 quid. Maman is by no means "bad", but it certainly won't be my Bethesda go-to.

Yelp
The baked goods and drinks here were great. I enjoyed my latte and cookie. My favorite was the pistachio croissant. The filling was delicious and I haven't seen anything similar at other bakeries in the area. I also liked the pretty cups and plates everything was served on. The service was great and the bakery had a cute vibe. They have seating available inside and outside.

Yelp
Packed packed packed for a Saturday morning (~10:30/11am). Every seat in the restaurant (including the counter) was occupied. The community tables were very fitting in this old world, European-countryside-feeling restaurant. Once seated, service was decently prompt. Food notes: The Ratatouille w Sunny Eggs were amazing . The definition of savory and balanced, the cheese was a perfect companion to the rich veggie flavors and was more than enough food for one person, even as a main dish. Elisa's Bowl seemed okay...nothing bad but nothing to write home about, either. ...we did see what looked like a Cuban Sandwich pass by to another table and that at least LOOKED quite good! Their bloody Mary mix is premixed from a bottle and seems to be spicy off the bat. So my request for less spicy meat they gave me less mix. ...which felt a little tacky when the glass showed up 3/4 full (and after our food had arrived). At seeing it, I asked for more mix and some limes to round it out. It was slightly spicy but honestly not bad. Overall, the experience was definitely worth the wait and I'd definitely go back again. (And while we didn't have them, their seasonal coffee drink options seemed like breakfast dessert. Next time, I suppose!)

Yelp
Food is always absolutely excellent. Service has varied a bit, hence the 4 stars. If you like omelettes, waffles, or french coffee, this is your spot for an upscale breakfast. Have had several things here and enjoyed them all, but I come back to the omelette and my daughter only eats the waffles.

Yelp
This review's way overdue! Popped into the Bethesda location after a great visit to the Eastern Market one. Love Maman's vibe--super cute and totally Instagrammable. Coffee was awesome, and I'm a big fan of the French-style cups. The salad wasn't really for me--kinda dry and a bit too heavy on the boiled potatoes. Also, if that fireplace is real, would've been nice to see it on during the colder days!

Yelp
Stopped here after a long day for a snack and coffee! The service was okay -not mean but the cashier seemed like ready to leave at end of her shift-all the foods looked so good-I honestly wanted to buy one of everything! I got kougn Amman in original and cinnamon-they were honestly probably a little over baked and too crunchy-but the cinnamon one tasted good-the original was a little plain. Got lemon custard square croissant which was yummy and creamy in the inside but also a little crunchy and perhaps over baked as well? I got chocolate pistachio croissant which was good . Also sampled chocolate chip cookie which looked delectable but was no different from any other chocolate chip cookie. Ambience was beautiful-I love sitting here ti drink my coffee and watch people passing by!

Yelp
5 stars for their lattes and brunch fare. Unique selections like overnight oats, lox on croffin, turkey sandwich, etc. like I'd say 3 stars for their baked goods though. Ambiance is cute, clean, modern. Definitely a fave spot as it's crowded. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Came in for breakfast after a workout class and it was PACKED for being one of the only open morning spots in Bethesda Row during Thanksgiving week. I got a coffee and an omelet, which came with a side of greens. It was delicious, I really loved the feta and tomato. Not a huge fan of communal tables, but it was definitely better than having to wait. Our server was very busy and it took awhile to get her attention, but once again - it was a holiday week.

Yelp
I was walking in Bethesda and looking for a latte. I wandered into Maman and was mesmerized by the beautiful interior. It looked like a beautiful garden. I was drawn to the pastry counter, which held a lot of delicious looking treats. My friend, Libby F. has raved about their pastries. She has good taste. Service was excellent. I ordered a mocha latte and it was fabulous. I was in such a hurry, that I had to run. But, I made a note to return and sample some of the goodies. My coffee was so good. It was rich, chocolatey, and warm. I will definitely be back for some more mocha lattes and some food, on my next trip.

Yelp
Very cute and homey cafe in Bethesda. Ordered an almond croissant, the waffles, as well a the avocado tartine with a fried egg. We arrived a little before the kitchen opened so waited a short amount of time before the food arrived to our table. Presentation wise -- 10/10. However, I wasn't a huge fan of the corn in the waffles (my boyfriend's selection). As for the tartine, it tasted as expected and the portion was generous. Overall, the stars for this review go to the ambiance, the staff, and the quickness in preparation. The food/chai arent something id go out of the way for.
google avatar

Jesse K.

Yelp
One of the foods that we ordered was spoiled but the manager promptly took our advice to take the menu down from the day. Tartine was very fresh and good. I got seasonal cocktails and it was very good. Inside can be very loud but air conditioned, outside was quieter but super hot. Wish they had some fans installed. But it is definitely such a cute place to hang out with friends on Sunday morning/afternoon. Only reason I gave the 4 star might be the spoiled food. Everything else was good including services.

Yelp
We visited maman over the weekend and the place was packed but the wait wasn't long. Their theme is floral blue and white - plates and cups, menu, wallpaper, and even their coffee machine was wrapped in their signature floral design. They have an abundant selection of pastries which are nicely displayed. There are indoor and outdoor seating as well as a back cafe to order to go. We ordered lattes which came beautifully in their blue/white cup and saucer. The latte was good. My friend had the pistachio croissant and she said it was good as well. They offer breakfast and lunch items but we were eager to check out other parts of Georgetown. Overall, the cafe ambiance was nice and a good first stop.
google avatar

Kayla K.

Yelp
This cafe is so cute and decorated so well if you like going to aesthetic cafes. There's also indoor and outdoor seating. The man at the register was very patient with us even though we ordered a lot of food to eat there and to go. I wasn't very impressed with the breakfast sandwich(it was covered in ketchup so that was all I tasted), but the pistachio croissant was delicious! Would stick to their pastries over savory goods.
google avatar

Yelp
Maman is super cute and a good place to grab a quick coffee and some yummy pastries! Service is okay, it can be a bit of a wait sometimes
google avatar

Neha R.

Yelp
Came here for brunch- the ambiance and decor are very cute, and the pastries are beautiful! The menu is also very creative, with many vegetarian options and even a couple vegan ones- it's a good spot for a diverse crowd. I also appreciate that they have nutritional info on the menu. I got the maylins squash salad- it was so-so- the dressing was really great but it was a little too heavy on the raisins.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to Maman twice. Very chic cafe. On my first visit, I tried their square croissant with cream and the round croissant with a brownie nestled in the middle. Both were good--just needed a quick warm-up to bring out that buttery goodness. But the real star of the show? The Elderflower Spritz! This drink was perfection--refreshing, light, and beautifully balanced. I even asked for the recipe because it was that good: St-Germain, Montefresco Prosecco, and Cocktail Punk lavender bitters over ice. A must-try! Crème Brûlée cookie, Is everything. Crispy, caramelized edges with a gooey center that really hit the spot.
google avatar

Yelp
If you haven't been to Maman, you have got to come here! The ambience of a cute little cafe, the attention to detail in their service, and the food and coffee! In comparison to the other cafes, this is my favorite, because of the food and the service. The employees are upbeat and have a friendly disposition. I've been to other comparable cafes and the employees look so glum that you feel like you're troubling them when you put on an order! Now onto the food! You really can't go wrong with anything on this menu, but if I had to choose, I would recommend the Quiche Sarah and the Kale Caesar Salad. And for dessert, you can't also can't go wrong with anything! Their cookies and croissants are super yummy. I'll have to come back to try each item! I should add that parking might be a little difficult but there are plenty of garages in the area. Bon Appetit!!!

Lee D.

Yelp
Because it is new, this café is extremely busy. It is a small space. The workers are friendly and helpful. My food has been inconsistent. I have ordered the turkey club twice. The first time it had lots of fresh turkey. The second time the turkey was hard to find. I'm not ready to give up on this place. It has a really positive vibe. I'm sure they will resolve the kitchen issues.

Yelp
I have been eager to visit Maman because the outside decor is stunning! It looks like a French bistro nestled in downtown Bethesda. I enjoyed a meal indoors and the experience was a little confusing. There is an app to order food but they also have table service. I did not know if should wait for my server to come or take things into my own hands and order on the app. The server did not check on my table too frequently so that was the main source of confusion. I was underwhelmed by the menu options as a vegan. I thank Maman for labeling vegan menu items. It seemed there was only 2 breakfast options that were vegan and none of the sandwiches were vegan. I believe some options could be made vegan without cheese. I really encourage Maman to expand the sandwiches menu to include something that is vegan without modification. I ordered the smashed avocado tartine and it was stunning! I loved how many micro greens were decorated on top. The tartine came with a strip of salt, red pepper flakes, and lemon wedge. I thought it was neat that you could customize the tartine by making it as salty, spicy, and citrusy as you wanted with the provided seasonings. Overall the tartine was good but not great enough to come back without more vegan options to try. The latte was superb! They sadly have a $1 vegan tax for a nondairy milk. The flavor of this latte was fantastic so the $1 was well worth it. This latte was creamy, smooth, and even came with latte art. I would certainly visit again if I needed a coffee in Bethesda. Thank you for a really nice brunch! I do think there is room for improvement but overall I had a good experience and hope the vegan options increase as the menu gets updated!
google avatar

Candice H.

Yelp
I've tried several baked goods (like six) on subsequent visits after the first. I think it's safe to say anything that is not soaked in liquid (as the chocolate cake was) is served, stale, dry, dusty and extremely disappointing. One star for the great cake, though. Another star for the decent breakfast offering. Pastries are more "miss" than "hit." Where is the quality control? Service and ambience are nice. AVOID the pastries.
google avatar

Rumit P.

Yelp
Simply fabulous! I ordered a latte, a pistachio croissant, and an avocado tartine. The flavors of the coffee and croissant were incredible, the presentation of the avocado tartine was amazing, and the hospitality from the food runner, baristo, and cashier was phenomenal. Staff were courteous, friendly, and efficient. No wait in line to order, I paid with the InKind app, was handed a table marker, and took a seat. The only small gripe I have is that the toast had to much onion that it overwhelmed the taste. The ambiance is cozy and visually stimulating. The seating is comfy, plenty of window spots for people watching, and spaced-out chairs and tables to not feel crowded. I would definitely come back and recommend to others.
google avatar

Hiral D.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday around 11. They didn't have mocha so I ordered the latte. It was pretty good. I also got the green shakshuka which is only offered on weekends. It was also pretty good but I felt it needed hot sauce to give it some flavor. We got an orange chocolate cheesecake cube and although it looked moist, it was pretty dry and difficult to cut. Service and ambiance we great so I'll come back to try something else.
google avatar

Louisa W.

Yelp
My daughter was interested in trying the vegan pastries. She liked the tahini honeycomb latte. She loved the orange blossom rhubarb crumb cake. The vegan lemon poppyseed cookie had a bitter aftertaste that we've noticed in some vegan baked goods that may be from bad acid-base balance. I had the (non vegan) pistachio chocolate croissant and it was fine but I wasn't expecting it to be just a chocolate croissant with some pistachio cream in it.
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. I was able to find a single seat at the window and was helped pretty fast. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which was very soggy in my opinion. The flavor was also lacking. It did come out within 5 minutes which was pretty surprising. I loved the chocolate pistachio croissant! The baked items looked really good there. I would not recommend the breakfast sandwich though. This is what made me take a star away because I did not vibe with it. Will definitely come back to try the espresso martini, bloody mary, and other baked items. Also, the plating is so cute.
google avatar

Gina V.

Yelp
Ambiance is super amazing! Beautiful shop and worth dining in if you can get a spot. Super busy in the weekend. Food was okay. My seasonal cappuccino was a little too sweet. My food looked nice. Some of the silverware and dinnerware were chipped or a little stained. My dish was missing a sauce. But they provided it when requested. I would say food is slightly over priced. Service was a mixed bag on the day I went. The people at the counter were amazing!! They were helpful with my order and super apologetic when there was no space due to a baby shower. One of them went and got a pitcher of water for me and brought it to my table. However, when I ask to have some sauce on the side because it was missing from my dish. The waitress seemed annoyed with my request. Maybe she had a bad day. Afterwards, another waitress was super kind and got me a to-go box. Overall, everyone was super amazing. Overall, nice place to study or chat. I would like to go back for some pastries that aren't too expensive.
google avatar

Destiny G.

Yelp
Starting off, this place is so cute and cozy! It reminds me of sitting at a family member's kitchen table. I ordered an Americano to go but was tempted to try one of the many pastries on display. The woman taking my order was a bit cold, but the barista making my drink was very warm and friendly. My drink was ready in a few minutes, and it was very good! I will be back to try something new and to enjoy their patio.

Yelp
I found this adorable French restaurant while waiting for my son at a nearby practice. My husband and I loved the romantic atmosphere, long wooden family-style tables, and many patrons sharing one table was typical (very European) You order and pay at the counter; then, your meal is delivered to your table. The dishes are gorgeous; I didn't mind that mine had a chip; it added character. We both ordered very acidic coffees, and it seems that if you add plant-based milk to highly acidic coffee, it appears spoiled. I asked for a new cup without any fuss, and they said that's just what the milk does, no explanation. The new cup looks the same. I asked for half and half, and that fixed the problem. I had to go online to determine what was happening to the coffee. If something keeps happening to your coffee that is not normal or common, you should at least warn your customers when they order it so they can decide if they want to proceed. I am a visual person, and there was no way I would drink coffee that looked like it had spoiled milk. From there, our service went downhill. Rude remarks, ignored questions, bombastic side eyes, lol. Regardless, my husband and I very much enjoyed the food. Not pictured here was their chocolate croissant with pretzels. It was $6 but enough to share and the best chocolate croissant we have had. They forgot we ordered it and made us wait 15 minutes, but it was worth it. Would I come again? Yes, I hope they had an off day. The food is excellent, and I can see this being a fantastic spring/summer breakfast spot.
google avatar

Jason W.

Yelp
The pastries here are very good, top notch! If rating solely on food, I would give Maman Bethesda 5/5. The service is what dragged down the rating. After being seated, we waited at least 10 minutes for a server to see us. When a server finally did arrive, her first request was that we move to a smaller table because a larger party needed our table. I normally wouldn't take exception to this reasonable request, but after we moved, the server then took our order, which as you can see from the photos was all pastries and one beverage, no prepared meals. When another at least 15 minutes arrived with no sign of our food and drink, we flagged down a different server and asked whether the pastries were fresh made to order, is that why we had not yet received our order? About a minute later, our original server came with our order. The pastries were definitely not fresh made, so there is no reason that we could not have received the order within 10 minutes, even though they were busy. However, an extremely large party (like 10 or more people) I. The middle of the room was waited on diligently, with our very same server even taking a photo of the group! So my recommendation: place your order to go. This seems to be a much more efficient way to experience the good food while avoiding the mediocre service.

Yelp
Maman in Bethesda is so fantastic! I consider it an integral part of the French culinary resurgence in Bethesda. Their outdoor space is excellent on a nice day. I've enjoyed breakfast, brunch, and lunch there and am always pleased. My favorite to order at Maman are their quiches
google avatar

Yelp
I had the pistachio tree croissant and it was amazing! In the middle was a delicious pistachio cream. I also had a lavender honey latte and it was divine. The Papa's breakfast bowl was delicious as well, I just wish I had more of the aoli sauce to go on the potatoes.

Yelp
It's really a shame that this could have been a really great place to visit in Bethesda but my experience there wasn't so great. Sure I'm not going to deny that the place is filled to the brim with flowers and nice decorations but looks can be deceiving. I went on a Saturday Afternoon and it seemed pretty lively with the amount of people that were there. I was having high hopes but it was quickly demolished by the events that followed. The host didn't greet anyone when they walked in. It seems like anyone that entered was able to get sat right away except for me. Perhaps she thought I was ordering for take out and it wasn't clear I was there to sit down until I had to interrupt her before she sat someone else. The worst part was if a table was even empty, it was seated immediately by the next person. I don't think that table was wiped at all. I was sat at a window seat by the host and thought to myself, maybe it wouldn't be so bad after this. Nope, not at all. First of all, that same host went to one of the tables in the back and started eating a salad. There were people still up that were waiting to be sat; I don't really understand this system of seating/waiting people was implemented at all. Second, the servers ignored me and served others. Within minutes, they got their food and drinks out which was upsetting. I had to flag a male staff member to help talk my order. He did apologize and was able to help me order. I ended up asking to just pay after ordering because I didn't want to risk waiting another 20 minutes to pay out the bill. It was that bad. Eventually what I ordered came through but I waited nearly almost an hour for my order. What I got was their seasonal Frozen Forest Matcha Latte & Pistachio Croissant. The Matcha Latte came first and it came with the small shot of flavor with vanilla, juniper berries and mint. This was actually good but I wish it came out sooner. The latte art was there; but it's presentable at least. The Pistachio Croissant was my favorite thing so far. It's filled with this really good white chocolate pistachio cream that elevates it so well. I would highly recommend getting this. If I ever do visit here again, I honestly would just get it to go. Is it worth the trouble to sit down if the table service is inconsistent and the workers don't seem happy about working there? That's not a question I should be answering. I shouldn't have to wait almost 20 minutes to place an order in, and another 25 minutes for the food. Especially a drink and croissant that's already made. Visit at your own risk.

Yelp
Really cute store that is right in the heart of downtown. There is some seating outdoors and also ample space indoor. I came for brunch on a Saturday with my mom and we were seated quickly by the window. We received our coffee and pastry first, and each were pretty tasty. We shared the croissant and we were struggling to finish the pastry between us because it was so large and sweet. The ratatouille was also on the salty side. It looked pretty small and I doubted it would be enough, but was surprisingly filling. I didn't feel like the food was that impressive but it was a nice vibe for an afternoon coffee with friends.

Yelp
The GF zucchini bread is amazing. It was better than the GF chai cookie. The tomato soup was a little too sweet for me but still happy with my order. Breiner was awesome and gave great recommendations! Outdoor and indoor seating!

Yelp
The aesthetic is amazing, the food and cafe drinks + pastries not bad, but not great. I just cannot justify the price. For the quality of both taste and presentation, I simply cannot ever imagine myself coming back after I spent over $60+ for just a meal for 2 during an early afternoon. I truly think this place would be an absolute favorite staple if the prices were more affordable for what you get. However, it seems like business is doing well as this place is always absolutely packed! I mean... $9 for a medium special flavored latte (it was alright, like a 6/10) is just not something I can see myself paying for if I just wanted a lil sweet treat coffee. I probably won't be back or recommend this place, but if you want to treat yourself to some pretty plates and expensive treats, then I would say to give this place a shot!

Yelp
What a lovely cafe in downtown Bethesda. We visited on a late weekday afternoon. Parking was actually available practically right in front of the cafe. Score! The pastries itself was absolutely delicious. For $3.99+ tax, we got to relish and nosh on wonderful trio of delicious items. The employee was generous and let my husband pick the pistachio muffin he kept eyeing on. We loved the friendly efficient customer service. Looking forward to returning again in the future.

Yelp
I am a sucker for a good matcha latte, plus the dishware was adorable and so aesthetically pleasing. I could sit in here all day, the place was gorgeous. I also had an omlette that was average, but the drinks were

Yelp
Stopped by just to get some pastries and have to say, it's a beautiful space! The croissant was good but did seem to be a bit stale, but they have some interesting flavors with their pastries. I'll have to come back to try more of their selections and drinks!

Yelp
I really want to like maman. Unfortunately, I've experienced some quality control issues. For one, when my party went up to the counter to order some baked goods, the cookies were baked inconsistently (one of my friends asked what the difference was between the two rows of cookies labeled "chocolate chip"--turned out that one side was just over-baked and therefore four shades darker than the row next to it). I also ordered a hot chocolate with whole milk. I was standing by the pickup counter so saw the whole scene unfurl: the barista took out a near-empty carton of whole milk, heated the contents up and poured it into the hot chocolate. The cup was still 1/4 empty, so he picked up a carton of oat milk and contemplated adding it to my drink to fill it up. However, he looked over in my direction, saw people watching, so put the oat milk down. He then reached into the fridge for a new carton of whole milk. For some reason, he decided it wasn't worth the effort to top the cup. So instead, he picked up my drink, called my name and handed me a cup that was only 3/4 full at best. This all makes for an amusing story, but unfortunately, is not what I'd like to see as a paying customer.

Yelp
Pretty place for a date or a birthday! We only tried a maman that day since we're still full from lunch but this was super cute! Lots of wood & greenery. It has a cottagecore vibe. Service was ok the cashier was a bit rude but other that cool place to visit! Might go here again for a brunch or lunch to check out more of the menu

Yelp
March 2023: Stopped by for a coffee and a pain au chocolat (a semisweet chocolate "batons" formed by a yeasted puff pastry dough wrapped around a stick of chocolate). The display case was well stocked with pastries of various kinds--each with the name, calories, and price clearly marked. The decor of the dining area reminded me of a country style boutique bakery in France, which is very appropriate given the niche they claim to fill. Unfinished woods and simple patterns dominated the space. The line moved quickly, and the staff had me out the door in less than 2 minutes once my order was placed. Outdoor dining is also an option during the warmer months. July 2023: Stopped by with a friend to grab brunch. We sat outdoors amongst a space bedecked with faux vines, greenery, and flowers, which created a nice ambiance in an otherwise somewhat sterile environment along the street and alley. Our waiter was a lovely woman with whom we've crossed paths months ago. She actually remembered us, and while we couldn't initially place her, we managed to make the connection after a bit of friendly conversation. I ordered the 3-egg omelette, and I personalized it by including Parisian ham, tomatoes, and sun dried tomatoes. I also requested that it be made with egg whites and include toast. The omelette comes with a generous portion of balsamic greens as standard. My companion ordered the Belgian waffles with some very thick cut bacon, and he loved it. Another great experience at Maman in Bethesda!

Yelp
Came in to try a maman dessert and loved it. Combination of a cinnamon roll mixed with a danish. Interesting decor and plenty of seating. Located in Bethesda row off of Elm St. Park farther away or by the sidestreers and walk or right at the parking structure in Bethesda Row.

Yelp
Meh. I have now been at this location half a dozen times, and I do not understand why it is so highly rated. I do like the decor. It is very charming and they have nice gifts that you can buy at the counter, mugs, etc. however, the food is so meh. I have not tried the Oprah endorsed cookie, however, none of the other pastries and cakes I have eaten are that good.

Yelp
I really wanted to like Maman. It's decorated so nicely, and its location is convenient. Unfortunately, I would describe the best things I've had at Maman as "just fine." Today's Nutella Beignet was really dry, and the spiced apple crumb cake was gummy and tough. Nothing I've had has been worth the price.
