Maman Coral Gables Review - Coral Gables - Miami - The Infatuation

"Maman is a chain café from New York spreading throughout our city like invasive Australian pine trees. The one in Coral Gables, like its five other healthstaurant siblings, looks like a Pottery Barn collided with a baby shower. The “French-inspired” food is more like Starbucks meets high tea. Most of the pastries in the display case look plastic and don’t taste that far from it either. Their savory stuff, like the croque “maman” and the everything croissant sandwich, are sad, dry versions of French sandwiches that deserve better. The only saving grace of Maman is their chocolate chip cookie. Order it, and get the hell out of there. Food Rundown photo credit: Ryan Pfeffer Everything Croissant & Salmon Sandwich The croissant has the consistency of drywall and there isn’t enough cream cheese or salmon to help it. photo credit: Ryan Pfeffer Crème Fraîche Pancakes These pancakes are topped with a basil coulis that’s quite jarring if you didn’t read the menu description closely and made the natural assumption that it’s pistachio. At least the pancakes are fluffy. photo credit: Ryan Pfeffer Maman’s Breakfast Sandwich It has floppy bacon, a fried egg, and comes on a brioche bun that also tastes slightly dehydrated. This is one of the more tolerable sandwiches at Maman, but we still wouldn’t call it good. photo credit: Ryan Pfeffer Croque ‘Maman’ Their version of a croque madame doesn’t even come with a fried egg on top (that’s an added charge). But we don’t know how much an egg would improve this dull turkey-and-soggy-bread situation. Classic Chocolate Chip Cookie It’s not the best chocolate chip cookie we’ve ever had, but it’s the only reason we’d tell you to go to Maman. Ask them to warm it up for you so that the chocolate chips are gooey." - Mariana Trabanino

J'aime beaucoup!! Lol LOVED this very charming, romantic cafe!!! You'll love it too. I understand they have 40 locations around the USA, and 4 locally here in Soflo, however, it doesn't FEEL like a franchise AT ALL ! Wow! What a great find here on the already charming Miracle Mile. They close early as many cafés do. You MUST check this place out. You'll be charmed and pleased as well. Nicole & Sofia here were helpful and courteous!

Cute little shop with coffee and pastries along the famous Miracle Mile. Have heard great things about this chain/franchise so was super excited to see it was near where we would be. Even more exciting was that it was available to TooGoodToGo so of course we had to save a bag. When we arrived, we were shown a rack that had 3 bags sealed and told to pick whichever one we wanted. We took our bag and went on our way. Staff was efficient but not really friendly or engaging to see if we wanted anything else additional. As for the food, I think we are missing something. There were no labels to what things were and no instructions for reheating if needed so we tried everything as is. The scone was ok. The spiral croissant was also just ok. And the dense biscuit was like a brick filled with butter. All of these items seemed less than fresh. I’m aware it was towards the end of the day, but if this doesn’t represent what you really are, don’t offer it.

Maman on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables has quickly become my go-to spot for a quick lunch break, a midday coffee, or even a casual Zoom meeting. The charming ambiance—especially the al fresco seating—makes it the perfect place to get a little work done while enjoying a beautiful setting and great food. One of the highlights of my visits is Lester, the absolute best barista! He not only crafts the most delicious coffee drinks, but he also adds the cutest little touches that make your day. Whether it's a perfectly foamed latte or an iced matcha, he makes it feel special every time. Their salads and quiches are consistently fresh and flavorful—ideal for a quick yet satisfying meal. I always feel like I’m treating myself without going overboard. I also want to give a shoutout to Nestor, the manager who I often see at both the Coral Gables and South Miami locations (where my office is). He’s always walking the floor, making sure every customer is happy and everything in the store is running smoothly. He has a great eye for detail and is quick to fill in wherever needed to keep the experience top-notch. I simply love this place and recommend it 100%. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make sure to stop by—you won’t be disappointed!

**Grad Student Meet-Up** The atmosphere of the café is undeniably charming, with its aesthetically pleasing décor that strikes a balance between quirky and cute, creating a cozy environment perfect for a group of grad students to gather. However, beyond its visual appeal, the food leaves much to be desired. The dishes we ordered were mediocre at best, lacking in flavo. No one finished their plate. It felt as though the meals had been passed under a heating lamp before being served, reminiscent of the less impressive dining experiences I had in Madrid, Spain. All the food was likewarm. While I appreciated the attentive service, thanks to the friendly and patient staff, it couldn’t quite compensate for the lackluster food. We ended up leaving a generous tip, grateful for their kindness, but ultimately disappointed by what we were served. My quiche was particularly uninspiring, tasting of nothing more than bland eggs and wilted spinach, which was quite a letdown. The only standout dish was the sandwich, which featured a decent amount of melted cheese, providing a bit of comfort amidst the otherwise dull offerings. On a positive note, the coffee was a redeeming aspect of our visit. Although it wasn’t served piping hot—merely warm—it still managed to satisfy our caffeine cravings. It seemed that everyone around us enjoyed their drinks, making that part of the experience the highlight of our gathering.

Maman located in the heart of Coral Gables, FL on Miracle Mile was the perfect spot for a quick coffee and lunch break. Beautifully decorated with earthy tones, it provided a friendly atmosphere. We decided to try out the new fan favorite Salted Tahini Honeycomb latte (iced & hot) which provided can excellent blend of sweetness with the honey and salty with the topped sesame seeds. Paired with the lattes, we decided to try Patricia’s Prosciutto Sandwich which consisted of prosciutto, manchego, grated tomatoes, and olive oil on a baguette. We found the sandwich to be very fresh and tasty, the only factor that was a little strange for me was the grated tomatoes because it made the sandwich soggy to my liking since tomatoes release a lot of water. Overall, @_mamannyc_ (IG) was a lovely site for lunch, one I look forward to visiting again in the future.

Nice coffee shop im the middle of Miracle Mile. The food was good, we liked the cappuccino and the chocolate hazelnut bavka. The service was fast, when we were in the line a server came to take our order which I found quite useful. The atmosphere is ample but cozy, a good place to come up with young kids (they had a Montessori-like kitchen that brought attention of a couple).

Yelp
After walking past maman several times and not being in a rush to try it, I now have gone more than once and it may be my new favorite spot! For starters, a play kitchen for the littles? I love that for us. Plenty of high chairs. Changing stations in both bathrooms. These thoughtful touches are so rare (which is sad) but so so appreciated. The staff were wonderful. On our first visit, we had brunch with a pitcher of Bellinis and I never even had to serve my own refill. They were friendly and very attentive. The food was delicious and so fresh. The Elisa breakfast bowl was very yummy. The star of both visits though has been that pastry case. I struggle to choose what to indulge in! Everything looks so good and so far, everything IS so good. I've had the olive oil pistachio cake, the pistachio chocolate croissant, and the classic chocolate chip cookie. Everything was fresh and delectable. I had the frozen mocha and wasn't a huge fan, it could have used some sweetness so next time I definitely would get one of the flavored syrups if I opt for the frozen. I also had the Pistachio Dark Chocolate Cappuccino and it was yummy but a little heavy on the syrup. The aesthetics of the place is beautiful. I love the table of merch and trinkets. Everything is so cute. I am a fan!

Yelp
Was quite underwhelmed by this spot, as I was going in with raving reviews and high recommendations from social media and friends. The place is cute and quaint, located in a central part of gables. Service was normal- nothing out of the ordinary. Prices were quite high for the small portions offered. Flavors were alright, and nothing really stood out.

Yelp
I stopped by Maman in Coral Gables today after an appointment, looking for a cozy spot where I could grab a bite and get some work done and this maman was perfect for just that! A lot of cafés in the area either lack good Wi-Fi or don't have a comfortable setup for working, but Maman checks all the boxes. I ordered the chicken wrap, which was soooo good fresh light, and filling. We also treated ourselves to a cookie and a banana loaf, both of which were amazing. Of course, I had to try their matcha latte... so good! not too sweet, and judt how I like it. The service was fantastic! The lovely lady who helped me was super sweet, attentive, and made the experience even better. The whole café has a warm and homey, with a beautifully aesthetic flowery vibe. It's bright, inviting, and thoughtfully designed. The open format makes it feel spacious yet cozy at the same time. I initially sat inside, which was nice, and a little bird kept visiting, which was the cutest thing ever! Eventually, I moved outside because the weather was perfect, and the outdoor seating was just as enjoyable. Overall, Maman is a gem in Coral Gables is a perfect addition to the neighborhood. great food, great coffee, a stunning atmosphere, and the perfect place to either catch up with friends or get some work done in peace. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Currently on the hunt to finding the best iced latte and iced matcha,,, maman is up there!! For starters I love the new location in the gables. The aesthetics of this cafe is such a vibe. The iced latte is a strong 8/10!! The matcha 7/10. Service is great, the staff is very friendly

Yelp
Update I went in for the dine in on 10/06. The food was excellent the everything croissant was delicious. The latte was creamy. My main complaint is about the horrible and horrendous service. The waiter was not good . Barely checked in on us. In the end when I was paying he didn't even ask if I wanted the receipt. He just took the machine away. This place has great vibes and yummy food. They need to do something about the service. Or they will lose customers. Totally unacceptable.

Yelp
It's decorated very cutely in here, I especially love the little play kitchen for the kids! The woman working the register was friendly. The coffee was great, so was the pastry, but the food just isn't good!!! We had: *frozen vanilla latte- so good, yum! *almond croissant- yes tasty, not the best I've ever had, they warmed it up for us *veggie sandwich--no!! The hamouli(sp?) cheese was good. But the avocado and spicy jalepenos didn't work! Bread is forgetful * tuna sandwich -- no!!!!! I am a tuna sandwich connoisseur, and this had small tuna energy! :( way too fishy, no mayo. Ughhh!! My advice--stick to coffee and a pastry. Or go to Wynwood location?

Yelp
I heard about Maman NYC on YouTube and wanted to try the Miami location in Coral Gables. I ordered an iced matcha almond milk latte with honey, which I found to be a bit too sweet, but next time I'll exclude the honey in my order. The everything croissant was DELICIOUS. Flaky, buttery, flavorful -- I'm looking forward to buying it again! Maman flagship is in NYC, and I find the Coral Gables location to instantly transport you to New York! The space is pretty tiny, and I went on a Sunday around brunch time, so it was busy, but I'd say it reflects NYC well.

Yelp
OMG!!!!! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Maman opening up in the Gables. Last year I was in Manhattan, my hotel on Broadway was walking distance to this delectable bakery/restaurant. I had the spinach and artichoke quiche, it was the most authentic French quiche I've had stateside. Flaky crust and filling was creamy, smooth, airy, delectable, like a quiche should be. I forgot to take a picture It looked so good and I gobbled it up lol The other items I ordered were equally authentic and delicious, most of all fresh. The ambience is cozy, service magnifique! I will be going back until I try everything on the menu. Highly recommend if you love authentic French baked nuggets from heaven.

Yelp
Third time coming here in a week. First time I visited South Beach location and loved it so since then I went twice to Coral Gables which my closest one and I have to say the food and coffee are great, but the Gables service is awful. No one speaks English, don't refill water and don't seem to have prior experience as waitstaff. Sunday had table service but today was self service with number at table for your order. Person at Beach locale said this one isn't busy and now I see why! Upgrade the staff and Gables will succeed. The food was great. I've tried the quiche, croissant sandwich, and today chicken sandwich and are all delicious and I'd come again and again to try more.

Yelp
My daughter and boyfriend stopped by Maman this past Sunday for a mid afternoon breakfast after church. We had high hopes the food would match the esthetic, however, were quickly disappointed. The server was extremely dry and seemed rushed. He did not care to describe the menu items for us and was not very helpful when we asked questions regarding the food. He gave the vibe that he was just there for a tip and was pushing for us to upgrade every item we asked for at an additional cost. The ambiance was nice, the decor and plating was very cute, but the food was mediocre. I ordered the Katie chicken sandwich, but it felt like it was mostly bread and the pesto sauce that is included was not evenly distributed which caused the sandwich to taste very dry throughout 90% of it. My daughter ordered sliced flank steak but it was more like thinly shredded meat instead of sliced pieces of meat. The server placed my boyfriends order first even though he asked the server to wait until my daughter and I had made a decision. The restaurant staff and manager were more concerned with clearing the plates we were still using off the table than asking if we needed anything or how we liked the food and if there were any concerns with our order. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone as each plate was $16-18 dollars and the quality of food/service was very poor. The only thing we enjoyed were the creme fraiche pancakes.

Yelp
The tawni salad was delicious! I love almost every maman restaurant but the one in coral gables is beautiful and has enough space. It was also really clean inside and the service very welcoming! The food was ready really quick while my work lunch break!

Yelp
Fabulous! Beautiful interior & exterior. Great coffee and even better pastries. Friendly kind staff. Order at the counter and everything delivered to your table.

Yelp
Yes !! It's a must try little breakfast/ lunch favorite locale. Cute , charming & the food- WOW. It's not cheap , but oh so good. My girlfriend & I did that lunch & shopping thing. We shared the Turkey sandwich & the Croc Madame, along with a chocolate almond croissant & a tea cake . We also had 2 double macchiato coffees. All amazing..The only thing I would say ... negative, was the service was a bit lacking. The Orange pistachio tea cake was incredible in flavor and texture. I can't wait to go back and try a few other items.

Yelp
Maman is such a cute coffee shop! I first discovered Maman on a trip to NY so I was very excited when I heard they were opening locations in Miami. I came to the Coral Gables location for the first time. The coffee shop is so beautifully decorated. They have a great menu selection. I do recommend going early, we went a little later in the day so they were out of some stuff from the menu but we still got to have a delicious brunch. The service was great! Our server was so nice and friendly. I had a matcha latte, avocado toast and tomato soup and couldn't leave without trying their almond/chocolate croissant. Everything was delicious.

Yelp
Let's start with the good. This is one of my favorite bakeries in Miami for their pastries, quiches, cookies and coffees. I have always taken my order to go and decided to try their brunch yesterday afternoon. The wait was 30 mins which is reasonable for a weekend. However, it seems we had some bad luck with our server Rey. It was a series of mishaps. Missed menu items, additional items we didn't order and forgetting to bring basic things. The manager and runner came to our rescue! We made the best of it because it was my cousin's birthday. 2/3 of the items were good but they don't standout like the pastries. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend the brunch.

Yelp
I go to Maman whenever I can, usually in NYC but happily now in Coral Gables. Its always wonderful, always classy, always delicious. If you are fortunate enough to have Nycole serve you - then you are very fortunate indeed. Everyone there are first class, but Nycole went out of her way to think through some elements we were juggling - some with lack of vision, and some with a very excited dog outside, and she could not have been more fabulous. Thank you Nycole!

Yelp
I wasn't unhappy with Maman but felt from original reviews some time back that it was going to be more upscale in taste. I went with a group and found that the food was a touch overpriced for what you got, such was the case with the Belgian waffles and the pancakes. Both which did't seem like they were made at the moment. The pancakes had a basil sauce on them which, while creative was a touch overwhelming. More impressive items were the tomato soup with the grilled cheese. So I'm thinking that possibly the lunch items are a better fit here. The decor here is nicely done. I didn't have any problems at all with service, it was above average. Baked goods were fresh and well made. Would try it again this time choosing lunch items.

Yelp
The aesthetic of this cafe is super cute and cozy. The food and drinks here are amazing and reasonably priced. I had like 3 honey lavender lattes and assorted cookies Great service also! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
I was excited to try this cute little coffee shop. I ordered a coffee and coffee cake (recommended by the server), sat at an empty table, and made a call. While I was on my call, the server brought my coffee and cake and interrupted my call to ask me to move. He said it was reserved. If it was reserved, there should have been a sign. And he shouldn't have me put my call on hold so he could inconvenience me like that. When I left a half hour later, the table (and shop) were empty. I was pretty appalled. Cake was terrible, super dry and flavorless, coffee was good, but not worth the horrible service.

Yelp
Was a little hesitant after seeing some of these reviews but I had a great time at Maman today! Was meeting a friend for brunch & since neither of us had ever been here, we decided to check it out. Our waiter, Nilson was great. super charming & attentive! After ordering some coffees (iced black for me & a lavender honey latte for her), we started looking thru the menu. Instead of going with breakfast items, we instead decided to go with their delicious sounding salads! I chose Maylin's Squash Salad (roasted butternut squash, mixed greens, shaved red cabbage, apple, radish, golden raisins, pumpkin seeds & mint with sweet french mustard dressing) & it was sooooo good. Literally ate every last, lil bite. My friend went with Raquel's Kale Caesar Salad (roasted chicken, shaved parmesan, country bread croutons & pickled onions served with caesar dressing) and loved it as well. I couldn't leave this adorable little café without ordering one of their beautiful & decadent pastries. Although Nilsin suggested the Pistachio & Chocolate Croissant, by the time I ordered it, they were sold out. Womp, womp but luckily they had so many other amazing looking options! I decided on the Pistachio Caramel Brioche (caramelized ribbons of brioche filled with a rich caramel sauce on one side and a pistachio ganache on the other) & asked to warm it up. It was amazing! Definitely will return to try more from their extensive menu & hopefully get to try that croissant!

Monica D.

Yelp
Ordered through door dash and in full anticipation of receiving my pastries... only for a huge let down... while the pastries are large in portion and reasonably priced I found the cinnamon bun kouign maman and blueberry/goat cheese scone not fresh and the vanilla hazelnut milk chocolate loaf cake to be extremely greasy. Not ordering again...

Yelp
Awesome from start finish! Menu has great variety with gluten free options and great coffee! Friendly & attentive service. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
This is a cozzy and cute little spot, but far from a real french bakery. Most of the Staff call the restaurant " mamann " instead of " maman ", I wonder if they know it means mother in french. We sat near the hostess, she was a nice lady but does not speak english, most of the english speaking customers ask her questions, she pretends to understand and give random responses or say yes. The server was completely lost, never brought the syrup Inasked for. I asked him was was the closest thing to a french toast on the menu, he suggested the avocado toast. We ordered, a sandwich, eggs, french toast and waffles, every single items came super cold, the waffles felt store bought and microwaved. The manager was kind enough to reheat the food. The food is very pretty and influences make great posts about this place, however the quality of the food and service does not match the price. It has the potential to be a great breakfast spot, their location and terrace is their strength as they are pretty, cozy, and welcoming, absent of their terrace and decor, any other breakfast spot would be better in terms of quality, service, and accountability of the staffs (not including the manager, he was great)

Yelp
My friend and I came to study here for a couple hours and it was so nice! The food and coffee were amazing and the ambiance was very cozy. The staff was very friendly as well and didn't rush us. would definitely come back

Cris J.

Yelp
Amazing little bakery right on Miracle mile. I read some of the bad reviews on here and it almost kept me from visiting this gem however I realized some yelpers have forgotten the purpose of reviews. It's sad to see people leaving one star because their water wasn't "room temperature". Servers can't read your mind, please communicate your preferences for a better experience. Anyway, I enjoyed the menu variety, you can find some French baked goods as well as American brunch staples, many coffee options which I love and the pastries I tried were al fresh and delicious, will definitely be back.
google avatar

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
Absolutely disliked it. Super overpriced and most pastries were burnt and dry. Who puts popcorn on croissant dough or half of a hotdog for $9.00. Definitely, not a french bakery. Will not return
google avatar

Cynthia M.

Yelp
I have been to other Maman locations including a few in DC and fell in love with this Maman. This was my first time trying the Miami/Coral Gables location and they have a lot of improvements to make. We ordered Lorraine quiches like we have in other locations and they took over 15 minutes to bring it to us and it was cold. We mentioned it to the waiter and they took it back and came back 5 minutes later with the same quiches barely heated up. Felt like they put them in the microwave for 10 seconds. I do like that they have a play area for kids but that was the only pro to this location.

Juan Carlos G.

Yelp
The croissant were not great and a bit overpriced for the overall quality of the food. The staff were nice and helpful.

Marta E.

Yelp
Quaint, relaxed atmosphere in the midst of busy Miracle Mile. The service was spot on. And our lunch food was delicious. Definitely a spot to add to the rotation.

Roxanna H.

Yelp
This is my go to cafe when I am in a mood for a chocolate croissant, never fails. So happy Maman is finally here in CG, I don't need to go across the city anymore to get my fix. Love the salads and if you have a sweet tooth, do not hesitate to get the chocolate hip cookie!!

Lisa M.

Yelp
Food, service, and ambiance were wonderful. The coffee is tasty and not acidic. Relaxing atmosphere. Really enjoyed the experience.

Danny S.

Yelp
I got a croissant, cookie, and iced latte to go. I went on a Monday afternoon and it was pretty empty so the service was fast. My croissant and coffee were good but they gave me a burnt cookie, I don't know why they would sell anything that's been burnt. The location in Wynwood has a nicer feel and better quality.

Mislena P.

Yelp
Oh God, the waiter we got was very nice but so slow I couldn't take it. A few tips to the manager in the best of intentions: the water in Miami should be served COLD not room temperature, we are not in Paris, so modifications should be made towards the locals. Our waiter was very nice but everything had to be asked twice, he should be trained and given a chance or simply cannot be a waiter. He is tall, no facial hair and scattered tattoos in one arm. I had to flag other waiters for ice, for changing the croissant bc he brought the wrong one, for cream on the American coffeee....so many people asking for cream on the coffee. We are not used to the coffee to come with cream inside already, we like to pour ourselves. Food was ok, nothing grand. Will give it some time to see if manager picks up and realizes some waiters are too slow and clients not content.
