French Cafe Maman Opens in Wynwood | Eater Miami
"Bringing Parisian charm to Wynwood, I found the flagship shop to be a French‑inspired café and bakery that blends traditional French fare with local Miami flavors: the menu features creme fraiche pancakes, a turmeric orzo salad, matcha affogato, a New York croissant sandwich, Oprah-endorsed nutty chocolate chip cookies, Maman’s fruit basket, and a Miami-exclusive guava-filled croissant adorned with tropical fruit. The café offers full-service weekend brunch, alcoholic beverages including beer and wine, and spaces for private and semi-private events. Its decor leans on French antique furniture and a hand-painted floral facade by artist Joel Haynes inspired by the South of France, with floral installations by Floratorium incorporating Spanish moss and air plants, custom-made light fixtures, hand-stenciled floors and walls, custom toile-printed espresso machines, and blue and white tiles on counters and in the bathrooms. Founded by Benjamin Sormonte and Elisa Marshall as an homage to childhood kitchen memories and their mothers’ recipes, Maman first opened in Soho in October 2014 and has since expanded to 33 locations (including Manhattan, Washington D.C., Jersey City, and Toronto); Wynwood is its flagship and the first of many Florida locations, with further expansion planned for Coral Gables, West Palm Beach, and Brickell. I noted it is located at 69 NW 26th St. and operates daily from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with weekend hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m." - Olee Fowler
