Google
I was expecting “stellar” in terms of experience based on the reviews and I was kind of surprised by how (unfortunately) mid everything I tried was - especially with how much they charge. The run down: 1. I ordered a breakfast bowl, asked to swap the bacon for the flank steak. I don’t eat pork and was happy to find out that would be no problem. A few bites in, I realized I’ve had teeny bacon bites mixed into the potatoes hidden under the steak and eggs. They did correct it after I brought it to their attention and they brought me a new bowl but there was little acknowledgment about how problematic that was. 2. Before leaving I got two lattes and a chicken Caesar salad to go. While the chicken itself was well seasoned, the salad was extremely salty. And the oat milk lattes were totally underwhelming. All for $80. And the music wasn’t even a vibe 😕 Pros: friendly and quick service, well run (with the exception of messing up my order); decor is lovely, and it’s super spacious with tons of seating. Their menu is really well done in terms of offerings. I would’ve tried a pastry but I wasn’t too eager, so maybe I missed out. Otherwise, it’s…fine 🤷🏽‍♀️

Google
Excellent coffee and pastries. Very nice layout and if you get a chance the quiche Lorraine is fantastic. It’s summer and the special drink was a wild blue berry ice coffee that was fantastic I’m surprised how well it went together with the iced coffee.

Google
I was recommended this place by a local friend and it did not disappoint!! The decor is SO cute, I was in love with the whole vibe. Everything on the food menu looked really tasty! I tried the Maman breakfast sandwich and it was quite good (although I wish it had two eggs instead of one, but I think that was on me for being extra hungry when I visited!) I didn’t end up trying the coffee because I wasn’t sure how good it would be (I’m a coffee snob), but all the pastries and baked goods looked simply divine. I tried a slice of the citrus olive oil cake and it was good! The place was super busy on a Friday morning, so it was a little hard to find a table. But it cleared out later on. This is a must visit!

Google
Ambiance, ambiance...This is "the bistro you do not tell the tourists about". Excellent selection and quality (made on premise?) of baked goods and excellent coffee. Extensive menu for the size (dine in service available). All this with a location "away from the maddening crowd""....enjoy!

Google
I live nearby and this is my go-to coffee spot. Love their food and their coffee (their matcha is amazing too) The staff is always really nice and the service is always friendly. The vibes are always relaxing, so it’s great to work from there too.

Google
First time here. Ordered Papas Breakfast Bowl and it was so salty. I think if they toned down the seasoning on the potatoes it would go better with the salty bacon and the sauce overpowered the whole dish. I personally did not like this dish. The bakery items were decent and the latte was good. I don’t know if I’d make my way to come back. Also, has a vibe similar to Pura Vida.

Google
This place is so dreamy! Rarely ever do you find an aesthetic to match the service and quality of food. This place has is mastered! Such a comforting coffee shop 🤎

Google
We love this place!! The service is amazing and the coffee is so so yum! Freddie was friendly and attentive! The vibes are just all around a YES.

Yelp
Maman is always a vibe! Their coffee is good and their pastries are always great! Staff like Maria Paula always keep the cafe clean and vibrant!

Yelp
If you are a coffee lover in mornings Maman brings morning coffee experience to next level! With a variable of pastries options, coffee and hot / cold drinks! Maple Chocolate laminated brioche Fabiola was very nice, friend and kind ! Supper attentive ! Perfect place during Fall Season mornings!

Yelp
Cute ambience. Service was pretty disappointing. Typical cafe where you order your food and they bring it to you. Lacked a lot of things though. Had to go up several times to ask them for utensils, napkins, condiments, and more water. They had water at a station but they keep running out or other customers take it to their table. Food was mediocre at best. The Belgian waffles could have been better if they put the strawberry paste on the side. My daughter described it as toothpaste because of the texture. Very thick, sweet, and minty. The grilled chicken was a few pieces of something rubbery that's overcooked. Extremely dry. Needs a warning for choking hazard. On the other hand, the home fries weren't so bad. Had more moisture than their grilled chicken. For the price you pay, I expected better quality. The best thing we've had from their menu was the cornbread latte and the lavender tea. I wouldn't go back there for food, but their drinks are something I would return for. Haven't had their pastries so the next time I will stop by, might pick up a few.

Yelp
Good café - all the usual - egg sandwiches, waffles, baked goods. This location is sort of in an area with more limited brunch options so it can get slammed. You can order ahead on the app. Service did take 30 minutes and there was no seating, but that was a timing thing coinciding with events at Nats Park. Average cafe ambiance. I think because it was a busy it was a bit too much. Just pricey (seemed more expensive than Tatte)

Yelp
WOW, Maman was everything I was hoping for and more! I stopped by one late afternoon and was immediately impressed by the beautiful décor. The inside is stunning, dramatic in the best way with huge flowering tree installations and cozy seating that make it feel both elegant and welcoming. It is not too big or too small, just the right size for a coffee shop that feels lively but still comfortable. Some people were deep in conversation, others were focused on their laptops, and a few were simply sipping coffee and enjoying their downtime. No matter what you are looking to do, this is a great spot to do it. I ordered one of the fall drinks, which was good but a little heavy on the sugar. Next time I will probably go for a classic latte instead of the brown butter pumpkin option. I also tried one of their cookies, which was delicious but incredibly rich. I could only enjoy it in small bites. I think it was the nutty chocolate chip cookie, and while it was flavorful, it definitely leaned on the indulgent side. The staff was kind and welcoming, greeting me with smiles as soon as I walked in. Service was quick, and the energy in the space was friendly without feeling rushed. Parking was surprisingly easy, although that might have been because I came in the middle of the day on a Wednesday. Overall, I loved my experience and can see why Maman has such a strong following. The interior is gorgeous, the pastries are beautiful, and the atmosphere is perfect for catching up with a friend, getting some work done, or simply enjoying a quiet coffee moment. I will definitely be back next time for a latte and maybe to try one of their breakfast bowls or the smoked salmon salad that everyone seems to love.

Yelp
My go to meal at Maman is the Wilde Smoked Salmon Salad w/ avocado on the side. It's the perfect balance of protein, and greens without being too filling for lunch. The big windows at this location provide for a lot of natural light which is helpful for working remotely or meeting with a friend. Great place to meet a friend for lunch and/or work remotely.

Yelp
Definitely my favorite Maman location yet. Popped in on a Monday to work for a few hours and to grab some lunch. The Navy Yard location is spacious and super cute! I ordered several to-go items (cinnamon bun, s'mores cookie, classic choc. chip cookie, other choc. chip cookie and banana bread) and got the Katie's chicken salad and pineapple croissant cube for dine in. I was kind of surprised that the sandwich was sliced chicken. That's not really chicken salad. The pineapple croissant cube, while very good flavor, also was a little tough on the outside. I hope they keep making these though because wow, the inner cream was delicious! The s'mores cookie was definitely my favorite of the bunch. The banana bread was just ok. Everything else was also quite good. I do love Maman. I hope they expand to Virginia Beach

Yelp
I was a bit less enchanted with maman at this visit. I ordered the farmhouse granola parfait and an iced pumpkin spice matcha latte (seasonal offering). After seeing the meager offering of the prepackaged parfait ($10 for about 4oz of yogurt), I ordered a wrap in addition [I also misread 'almond butter granola' as 'almond butter, granola' so was expecting something slightly different]. The wrap was much more substantial but just mediocre in flavor. Each ingredient was segregated in the wrap, which made for a nice presentation, but didn't translate in practicality--each bite was only one ingredient instead of an amalgamation of the ingredients. The pastry offerings looked less plentiful and less fresh than my initial visit. The food is a bit slow to come out, considering the amount of preparation it should take. Similarly, the drinks take a while also as there was only one barista. Still, a nice environment with nice soft tunes--I was able to get some work done (lots of others seemed to be doing the same midmorning on a weekday).

Yelp
Came here to catch up with my friend over coffee & breakfast sandwiches while working remotely. This location isnt the best to me & I regret recommending it to my friend. We have struggled to connect to the internet since being here despite using the correct credentials. I asked for help & the employees were not helpful at all and seemed a bit nonchalant about it. We both ordered the maman breakfast sandwiches. It was meh to me. Very overpriced for an unfilling & underwhelming sandwich. Probably should've ordered the breakfast bowls. I didn't order any drinks because we were already frustrated at that point. If you want to somewhere to quietly do work & grab a bite, I do NOT recommend this place.

Yelp
Service is not attentive and the Wi-Fi is horrible. It felt like I was back in the 1990s. Even though it was not a busy hour, I saw that there were many tables that had dirty dishes on them and were yet to be cleaned. I appreciate that this café uses ceramic cups instead of disposable cups. The ambience would be perfect for studying if the Wi-Fi was better.

Yelp
WOW. Maman was everything I was hoping for it to be...and more. First, the inside is super cute, not too big, but not too small. For a coffeeshop, i was expecting it to be cozy and it was...people were deep into conversation, others were focused on their computer, others were lazily sipping coffee and enjoying their off time. No matter what you're looking to do, this is a spot to do it. I enjoyed myself so much that I went 2 days in a row and wasn't disappointed. The Chai Latte is nothing special - very normal - but still good and tasty. For food, I enjoyed the omelet and potatoes, but I wasn't a huge fan of the cheese. Maybe it's an acquired taste, but next time i would substitute the cheese for something different or maybe just less since it was overpowering.

Yelp
I LOVE maman! I was so excited for this location to open. They service an incredible chocolate chip cookie. The inside of the cafe is adorable is perfect for lunch with a friend, a date spot, a stopping by in your way to the office. Happy to see manan expand locations in the city! Try the honey latte!

Yelp
MAMAN has become one of my favorite places in the area. The staff is always super friendly. The ambience is nice. And I love their pastries. They cycle them out every so often so it never gets boring. However, they keep a few staples that are really good. Did I mention to the staff? The customer service the is probably one of the best things about this place. They always smile when I come in and are always friendly. Maria (I think) was the first to remember my name and calls be by it when she sees me, and although it's a small thing, I appreciate that. She always make sure that I'm well taken care of and my drink is made properly. TIPS 1) Parking is crazy, but there is a lot close by on non-stadium event days ~$5 per hour (robbery). I usually ride my bike over. 2) They have menu items only available on the weekends; try them 3) they will have at least 1 vegan pastry at any time

Yelp
A few of us were walking around Navy Yard and decided to stop by the maman location for a quick afternoon coffee. This location had a lot of floral decor with its typical white and blue color theme. It was spacious with lots of aesthetic seats and tables. ICED SALTED TAHINI HONEYCOMB LATTE (SMALL) - 6.25 I got this with 2% (I think... either that or whole milk) and it was pleasant and not too sweet. I'm not really sure if the salt was needed here because the tad bit did not enhance the overall drink. I did enjoy the tahini and honey combination, which was nutty with a deep sweetness. The sesame seeds sprinkled on top were a bit odd, but sure why not. maman is aesthetic and reliable, but the drinks and food are pretty expensive for what it is.

Yelp
Very cute cafe! I absolutely love maman's ambiance, very French inspired. Their service is great, although their menu is quite pricy. The food in my opinion is worth it, I especially love their pastries. Great for pictures too as they have beautiful interior design.
google avatar

Ayana P.

Yelp
I always love Maman's seasonal offerings and the beautiful decor inside. They always have a fun twist on classic pastries that both look and taste great. The hot food is decent but my omelette was a little too well done. The staff at the register could be a little more helpful given all of the options, but I've never had an issue with my order.
google avatar

Yelp
Fabulous! Superbe ... i was expecting great but its better. Loved the Quiche Ella, pistachio olive cake, Pumpkin tower was incredible. Maple Chocolate muffin -Wow! Papa breakfast bowl has duck fat cooked potatoes the guys didn't want to leave any! We will return next trip!

Yelp
I was resisting myself From giving maman another try due to my first experience having their coffee was not the best. (NYC location). While traveling to DC and at Navy yards I decided to go in for brunch with my husband and it did not disappoint. Everything was absolutely delicious fresh and enjoyable. The ambience was perfect for a Sunday brunch. Besides the cashier everyone else was great. I will try maman in NYC again.
google avatar

Kyle V.

Yelp
Wow! The ambiance tells the whole story! Such great intricate details on decoration. The quality of pastries matches! I had the almond chocolate croissant and it was delicious. The staff was friendly and there plenty of indoor seating. A great place to sit, relax, or work. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful interior. Food here however is extremely pricey. Paid about $50 for just two people.
google avatar

Shanesta H.

Yelp
I am.a coffee snob..I admit that. Asked for a vanilla latte, and it was perfect. I am constantly asking baristas for the lattes "half sweet" because they pump the living daylights out of my drink. I did not have to do that here...color me shocked. The inside is pleasant. Clearly reminds me of chilling in the countryside somewhere. Always nice to have your food and drinks made fresh and delivered on an actual plate. Not just any plate, but the plates your granny may have scatted in her China cabinet. Price point is umm...expensive. 30 bucks for coffee, sandwich (ham and cheese) and a cookie. But you are paying for the experience, food quality, and let's be real....eating tasty food on actual plates. Will definitely come back as a treat to myself. I went on a Sunday before the snow storm, so it was decent. It's in the navy yard, and I paid for parking nearby (5 bucks for an hour). Don't let that scare you. Give this place a try.

Yelp
Not sure why everyone raves about this coffee-- it has a weird burnt flavor that makes it too smoky. I did not enjoy it at all. I also ordered the chocolate chip cookie with walnuts which was good but taste as if it were baked a few days ago. Overall a skip for me-- won't be back.

Mildred C.

Yelp
Food is the best !! Service is amazing . Ambiance is gorgeous ! Would definitely come back
google avatar

Emma B.

Yelp
Came for the chocolate chip cookie but they were out, did the kitchen sink one and nutty chocolate chip. The nutty one was better. I was in my baseball gear aswell going to the game so they gave me 10% off too which was pretty sweet and unexpected.

Yelp
Ah, brunch--the sacred ritual of overpriced eggs and overpriced vibes. This cute neighborhood spot delivers both, with a je ne sais quoi that feels like stepping into a Parisian dream... if Paris had wisteria trellises indoors and brunch lines at the counter. You order at the counter for quick service, and the food is brought to your table. Sure, the prices will make you raise an eyebrow higher than your cappuccino foam art, but hey, it's Navy Yard. You're not just paying for food; you're paying for lifestyle. The smoked salmon avocado toast came out looking like it moonlit as a food influencer. It was perfectly perched on grainy bread, topped with a sunny-side egg that was so picturesque I almost didn't want to eat it (almost). Savory? Yes. Fresh? Absolutely. Worth its Navy Yard price tag? Debatable. Then there was the papa bowl. What's in a name? Apparently, avocado, potatoes, a sunny egg, and BACON (the most important food group). Oh, and kale--a sprinkle of kale, probably for tax purposes. The spicy aioli tried to mediate the potato dominance, but the spuds clearly had the upper hand. Still, a solid choice if you don't mind a carb overload. As for the cappuccino: the foam art? 10/10. The flavor? French roasted but oddly weak, like it's trying to pass as American coffee. A little disappointing but not enough to ruin the meal. Even the bathrooms got in on the aesthetic game--nicely decorated and clean, because nothing ruins a cute brunch spot faster than a tragic restroom. Final verdict: pricey but charming. You won't regret the quality or the Instagram potential, even if your wallet quietly sheds a tear!

Yelp
I absolutely love this café! I travel often and I am always on the lookout for unique, aesthetically pleasing coffee shops and this one stands out! I've walked here from my hotel a few times during my stay, and I have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is beautiful, the coffee is consistently great, and it's quickly become one of my favorite finds while in DC!
google avatar

Alaric S.

Yelp
first time to mamans after visiting washington dc recently tried their kouign amman which was nothing like san francisco the service could have been better if they took notes instead of trying to remember what you got the ambiance was a nice cafe with sit down area and the pastries were just ok
google avatar

John A.

Yelp
Best coffee shop I can find within the navy yard. Ample seating and amenities. Perfect for both a business meeting and a catch up with colleagues. The coffee is decent but the pastries and food are indeed superior. Service is fast and friendly. I prefer the cold brew and the Oprah dessert. Sometimes I ask them to warm my pastries since everything taste better warmer.
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
Great spot to take a little break for some coffee. Stopped in for a coffee after a red eye. Enjoyed the ambiance/decor and returned for a 2nd visit. Tried Mama's Signature Pumpkin Pie Latte. Good. Second visit, had a standard hazelnut latte. The pastries are good. Tried the Apple Chai Pecan Roll and Almond Croissant. Definitely will visit again when I'm in the Navy Yard area.

Yelp
Looking for a place to have an Amazing latte with a friend, indulge in a decadent pastry and get some work done all while taking in the cutest aesthetic...go to Maman!!! I went around 9:30 am to the Navy Yard location and wasn't disappointed! Disclaimer: parking in this area can be real sketchy and if you park in the lot and decide to make it a work day, be prepared to pay $35 in parking! Otherwise, my latte was great, my croissant was perfect and it was a pleasant experience working from the cafe as well. They offer free wifi and corner spaces that's perfect for WFH jobs! The noise level picked up at certain parts of the day but it wasn't a huge distraction. Everyone was really nice and ordering was super easy. I would like to visit the Bethesda location to do a comparison but I'd absolutely make it a habit to work in a space like that often. Lastly, who can resist an aesthetically pleasing cafe?!?
google avatar

Tara L.

Yelp
Maman is so beautiful. The space is delicate, classy and filled with goodies. I usually just grab an iced latte and from time to time a baked good. But upon my last visit, I discovered a seasonal iced latte that I'm now obsessed with: caramel-banana iced latte. I ordered it off intrigue alone as well as my self awareness that I'm banana positive. My fear of it being too sweet, or too artificial tasting was soothed upon my first sip - it was smooth,l and delicious with just the softest notes of banana and caramel. (I asked for no whip cream but it typically comes with that as well.) I will be grabbing this on repeat until it is so longer on the menu. This drink alone I'll go out of the way for. But overall, this Maman location is solid. It's clean, beautiful and always with great service!
google avatar

Chip A.

Yelp
Good coffee and pastries. Wanted to try different coffee shops and patisseries while I was in DC Navy Yard. I would recommend this establishment.
google avatar

EriCKa C.

Yelp
Food and drinks are always amazing! Service is expedient. Ambiance is always relaxing and calm.
google avatar

Sabriya T.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday morning after a night out and it was perfect! As you walk in, you're greeted with the beautiful decor and the smell of fresh pastries and coffee. Can't wait to come back to try more items on the list!
google avatar

Nikia F.

Yelp
Love the ambiance, loooved the citrus olive oil loaf cake, service was good, and they make a great vanilla latte. Wish I lived closer.
google avatar

Amy Y.

Yelp
The vibes, they are immaculate. Like wow, is this place pretty. I got a tahini honeycomb latte & orange pistachio tea cake & they were both beautifully presented & delicious. Definitely worth sitting in for a little bit & starting your morning beautifully.
google avatar

Ashleigh T.

Yelp
I usually go to the Union Market location but we stopped here after visiting the Mall for the Cherry Blossoms. We arrived when they opened and I loved the layout of this location it felt brighter and more spacious. The cashier was super friendly unfortunately we learned they don't offer non pork options for breakfast and my partner doesn't eat pork. We were charged an up charge for chicken in the papas breakfast bowl. The bowl came out with three tiny pieces on bland chicken which was super disappointing. I love the papas bowl but this one lacked flavor and bacon and kale weren't chopped up like they usually are. In the future I think I'll stick with/my union market location.
google avatar

Peggy L.

Yelp
Lavender Latte was great! Medium strength for caffeine Tasting. Blueberry goat cheese scone is what it makes the trip worth it! Amazing tasting as you take a bite out of it... great combination and a bit of crunchy outside then inside it's soft and scrumptious. Chocolate chip cookie is the cookie! If you're a chocolate fan... try this cookie and I think it's the best in DC. It's not overrated with lots of sugar or nonsenses. It's just right! The service is alright. But quick so no complaints for this one.
google avatar

Racquel S.

Yelp
The ambiance was nice. Up my alley. Service was good; counter style. The iced oatmilk cherry blossom latte I tried was so good. 10/10. They don't have any gluten free/friendly pastries that I can see, but they do have a menu of cafe food items that has some options. Nice little spot in the navy yard area.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
I really liked my visit at this location and even though the staff took the plate off my table before I was done eating, I would still come back and visit. This location has restrooms and lots of seating... Wonderful pastries and they also have a happy hour/spirits for splash cocktails.

Angel P.

Yelp
Service was good. We didn't try any food but the seasonal drink we had was delicious.
google avatar

Ijeoma O.

Yelp
Thank you maman for moving to the area! I absolutely love it here. The decor is top notch, it makes me forget I'm in the Navy Yard, and it puts me in a hyper focused mood. I accomplish so much when I work from here. There's plenty of seating and the flowers make the place so serene. It helps that the food and drinks are also delicious. They have savory dishes from sandwiches, bowls, and salads to quiches and a display of uniquely flavored sweet treats. I haven't been disappointed yet with anything I've ordered here. Their coffee drinks are also wonderful. They usually have a small seasonal menu by the cashier. My favorite drinks have been from that menu, so don't forget to take a look at it. They also have boozy drinks, I haven't ordered one yet, but I'll report back when I do. Overall, you won't be disappointed coming here. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
Stopped by maman for a quick meeting, and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed being in there. Though I only got a coffee, the customer service was great, and the atmosphere was pretty relaxing. They have a good amount of seating inside (great space to work for a change of scenery), and a few tables outside. Seems like a great alternative to Stars or Dunks
google avatar

Yelp
Pastries were good Employees were silent and very unpleasant. Not outwardly rude but still unpleasant And they never call our number so we finally went up to ask about our food and it was sitting in the window getting cold
google avatar

Caity T.

Yelp
The shabby chic version of a "manic pixie dream girl's" cafe. Like a whimsical tea cottage. Very calming ambience, good variety of pastries, coffees, teas, hot breakfast, and seasonal drinks. Service was very efficient and pleasant.
google avatar

Sonya L.

Yelp
A new coffee shop in navy yard! It has a lot of natural light and seemed to have a lot of tables around the cafe. The decor was very whimsical. When we got there, there were a lot of people at tables working and having their coffee. We ordered coffee and lunch for take out. We did not have to wait long. The coffee was good. I had a honey lavender latte. I liked that the lavender was not super overwhelming. I had a crogel that had smoked salmon and cream cheese. It was a tasty treat.
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
I love this place and come maybe once a week. Their food is excellent, the coffee drinks are both good and consistent (you know how some places are kind of a crap shoot if you're going to like what you get that day? I always like what I get at Maman). Prices are a little high but the quality is also good. Ambiance is beautiful and you don't feel rushed, although it's not ideal for working from there because their internet isn't great and it dropped mid call.
google avatar

Alessandra C.

Yelp
This Maman location at the Navy Yard is one of the cutest (possible the cutest) bakery/coffee shops that I've ever stepped into. I love indoor plant decor and porcelain china with traditional patterns so Maman's style made me happy. I ordered a cup of ginger tea, a cheddar and scallion scone, which was just what I expected from a savory scone, and a side of mixed greens, which was very fresh. I also got to try their mango pastry and their carrot cake with walnuts and, while both were great, the carrot cake definitely stood out. Staff members were very kind.
google avatar

Yelp
A 3 because my wife absolutely loved the pastry and the coffee was delicious. Sadly, the service and delivery fell short on this visit. I ordered an iced coffee; clearly available on the menu. What I got was a hit drip coffee with a few ice cubes dropped into it. I asked for a cup of ice, which I received. After pouring some coffee into that, my original cup had some room. The barista graciously added some more ice to it. I had asked for "room-temperature" coffee and they told me they didn't have that. It was all hot.
