Not from Dallas (from SA TX/H Town) and glad we picked this spot to eat at. We didn’t wait more than 10 minutes and they have community tables where you sit with strangers which we weren’t crazy about but our neighbors were from buffalo NY and were nice. The breakfast was so fresh and tasty. We didn’t wait too long for the food either. Jose was an excellent waiter and took care of us. This establishment overall had a friendly vibe and would deff come back when in Dallas. I also got French toast and biscuits and gravy which I didn’t take pictures of and they were also yummy.

Looking for a diner that is full of nostalgia, great people and great food? This establishment dating back to the days of our grand/parents' heyday is a true gem! Food is delicious, fresh, and the perfect amount of comfort for your heart and your tastebuds. Just 2 miles from UT Southwestern Dallas Campus, it's something I truly look forward to after doctor visits!

Came in the other day for breakfast, we were seated quickly however once at our table every staff member we had did not greet us at all. Didn’t give us a “Hi my name is … I’ll be taking care of you.” Our waitress seemed as if she didn’t want to be taking our orders at all. The food came quickly and was hot. The biscuits and gravy were pretty good but this place is just a diner nothing stood out us at all.

Good food served quickly. I had a breakfast omelet with biscuits. No need for other sides, plenty of food, all tasting good. Cute decor, a real diner!

When I move to the West Dallas area, I found this charm. Many locals have been coming here for years and I can see why I myself have been coming here for five years now and I am so glad that I found it. This place is serving up great breakfast lunch and even some dinner entrées the people and staff are very friendly And can also give you great recommendations on the food options. I have tried most of their meals here and I have never been disappointed. You can come here for great food and great conversation because many people here are so friendly that you can definitely spark up the conversation with anyone The prices are affordable and you get great portions. Delicious hot (and a lot) of food. I got the mamas granddaughters plate which came with my choices of potatoes, biscuits and gravy, sausage links and eggs and they were all really delicious. Cute (extreme) diner atmosphere which I loved.

I was staying at the Hilton around the corner and wanted to eat someplace other than the hotel or the Denny's across the street. So I checked out what else was nearby and I saw this place. It got good reviews and I wanted some good diner food. I was not disappointed. I ordered the big Texas breakfast #1 and I got it with the chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy and let me tell you I am picky about my white gravy and there's was great. The biscuits were buttery and soft some of the best I have ever had. I liked this place so much that I ate there twice during my 5 days in Dallas. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Dallas. Highly recommend. Service was great both times and they are super fast whether they are busy or not.

Love the food here! Come with any appetite because they load up the plate! Their biscuits are so soft and delicious, and their bacon is just perfect!

I had lunch here yesterday at this Dallas area institution with 5 locations and this one being the original. It's a meat and three type of restaurant serving home style cooked meals. There is dedicated parking all around the building and inside it's a table service restaurant. The menu offers several breakfast and lunch entrees along with daily specials. From the Thursday specials I chose the braised beef tips over rice with sides of mashed potatoes and brown gravy, fried okra and large Lima beans and rolls for $11.95. The food arrived less than 10 minutes later. I enjoyed every bite (almost). The beef and rice, mashed potatoes and gravy with two big fluffy rolls and the fried okra were delicious. Loved it. My only complaint was the Lima beans were over salted. This was the only reason I didn't give a 5. Finally, the waitress was warm and friendly. I would readily come back here for another meal. Great tasting food at reasonable prices. Mama did a good job in teaching her daughters how to cook!

I chickened out and ordered the CFS with mashed potatoes, baked squash, Mac and cheese. My wife ordered the meatloaf, Mac and cheese, greens and baked squash. CFS was ok, nothing outstanding. My wife's meatloaf was excellent. Squash so-so, other vegetables were very good. Chocolate Pie was just ok. Definitely good for the price.

Seating Tables-great for groups Menu Daily specials, basket of biscuits, lots of baked goods. We were in for breakfast. Pancakes were fluffy, light, and perfect-fresh. Syrup was warm-love that! Bacon serving was crispy, not greasy, large portion. Eggs were also not greasy-just right. Grits were creamy/smooth-not watery-large portion. Summary Local chain-great food-attentive service. My husband loved it so much-he brought me. Super daily specials. Very popular especially to go food. Recommended to many friends already.

This is a lunch and breakfast place and just what you'd expect from the name. It has a very southern feel with grits (yum!) and huge portions but otherwise is very standard diner. The combo meals have good sized portions and they have turkey sausage! I took many pictures of the signs inside the restaurant and completely forgot to take pictures of my food. Everything seems to come out made to order, though no substitutions on the combos. I do recommend it if what you want is a diner style breakfast or just to check the place out for all the fun sayings all over the restaurant. The service was perfect and very friendly. She came back to check on us many times and kept the coffee and the waters topped off!

This diner was a hit for my family. Decently priced and good service. The food was delicious and plenty of parking. There are no gluten free options/ alternatives. My husband likes the coffee but if you want something fancier in terms of caffeinated beverages, wayward coffee is across the street. Great location for a group or small family.

This another hole in the wall kind of places that has great food. My server was great and attentive. The decor inside was nice looking. The outside looks like it has been here a while.

Ambiance: Retro 1950's style diner. Clean. Service: Very friendly from beginning to end. Fast delivery of order. Food: Ordered from the breakfast menu. Short stack Blueberry pancakes - plate size, delicious, fluffy, and loaded with fresh berries and served with plenty of butter and syrup. Denver omelet - standard size, but enough, taste was good with ample additions inside and sourdough toast was the chosen side. #3 Mama's Favorite Breakfast - 2 eggs chose over easy cooked correctly but come completely unseasoned, chose hashbrowns and got the extra crispy that was ordered also come unseasoned, chose bacon received 3 slices cooked crisp but not burnt, chose biscuits and sausage gravy. The biscuits were perfectly tender and fluffy and large enough to be a separate meal, the gravy was nothing special and was not created with the sausage, but came on the top edge of the gravy bowl so that it needed mixed together. Also the sausage was nothing special flavor wise. Definitely glad I've finally tried the MDD in Plano. I plan to visit again and order something new to review.

Just west of downtown design near Design District, you'll find Mama's Daughters' Diner. Immediately upon walking in the ambiance gives off as the local neighborhood breakfast spot. It's extensive menu allows for multiple options to customize breakfast favorites. Not to mention the low prices make it that much better. Servers continues float the floor offering coffee refills. Mama's Daughters' is definitely worth of try if you desire local over chain!

I've been coming to this Mama's Daughters' Diner location for years (I live right around the corner). A lot of their items are great (pancakes, biscuits, onion rings, fries, yams), while other items are not so great (waffles, French toast, cornbread, breakfast potatoes, cinnamon roll). Even when it looks busy from the outside, you never really have to wait that long for a table. The service is decent, nothing outstanding. The interior has a lot of the diner's history inside. Multiple visits show you something different you haven't seen before. Overall, there are probably equally good or better diners out there in the DFW area. However, this is a really good diner! I do recommend visiting, but just know that you have to be willing to just try a bunch of things to see what you like or don't like from here (because some things I thought would be good or bad were the opposite).

Now this was just what the doctor ordered. Originally from California , I wanted a breakfast or brunch meal that tasted just like home. My goodness did Mamas deliver. Fried pork chops, scrambled eggs with cheese, and probably the best hash-browns I've ever tasted!! French toast and syrup to die for! Service was phenomenal and quick!

Excellent southern food. People are nice, fast service, plenty of room and short wait times. Catfish and sides not bad. Fried pork chops looked great. Just good old food.

Great place for homestyle food. The portions were very generous and the prices were extremely fair.

Unfortunately today's breakfast felt like they've lost a step....while I've been here several times since the "great shut down" the food seemed average today Everyone's trying to cut corners while maintaining quality and good prices. However,they're on the edge of, at least my breakfast was. I'll just chalk it up to an off morning in the kitchen. I'm definitely not giving up on them after years of awesome breakfast and lunches.. I'll Be Back!

Great breakfast spot! I got the French Toast which was perfect. Our daughter got the veggie only and has brown which she said was very good. Our son got bacon,gravy/biscuits and pancakes which he devoured. Busy place,so you may have to wait a minute for your food.

This place was absolutely great. I wanted some hearty southern style breakfast and that's exactly what I got. I ended up ordering the chicken fried chicken steak with biscuits eggs and hash browns. This place is not for the faint of heart. The food is hearty and served in large portions. But mama didn't raise no baby so I obviously held my own and cleaned my plate. I came here borderline starving and left here utterly content. The service was also top notch. The staff treats everyone like family. If you are ever in Dallas or Fort Worth area and looking for breakfast this is the place to be.

Great tradition food diner that offers a variety of tasty food items that are inexpensive with generous portions. Parking is not great because they're busy at times but it's worth the effort if you have to walk or wait. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner items and I haven't been disappointed so far. The last visit it was extremely cold but they wouldn't do anything about that so we dealt with it for the time we were there. Food was good and service good. If you're looking for "home cooking" in a diner, this is the place!

DO NOT ORDER ON UBER EATS AND EXPECT YOUR FOOD DELIVERED WHEN PROMISED. I chose this restaurant strictly based on a 10-20 delivery time. Never have I waited so long for scrambled eggs. I called two times for an update and was told "couple more minutes". I never got to eat the food because of the hour long wait time. (Traveling for business)

Cool little diner. We came by one Sunday for brunch. It was a bit confusing as there were a lot of people standing outside of the building. I asked someone if there was a sign up sheet and they said, "no, the guy inside told us to wait out here." After a while as they were being seated, I followed them in thinking I could wait inside or at let be acknowledged that I was next in line. I was quickly told, loudly, "You can't wait in there, you need to wait outside!" When we were finally seated, our waitress was super slow. A man was seated in the booth next to us and he came in after we did. He had the same waitress and somehow he was able to get his food, eat and left before we even got our food. As a matter of fact, we got our food way after he left. I ordered the chicken fried chicken plate. The food was good. It wasn't over the top delicious, but it was good comfort food. I'd probably go back but maybe during a less busy time.

Staff was friendly greeted right away food came out plentiful and tasted amazing. Restaurant was busy but clean and they kept up with everything.

Small-town feel in the middle of Dallas. Bustling, greasy spoon. Perfect hash browns. Thin, crispy bacon.

It was okay to try this to grab something to eat before running some errands. It's pretty busy with lots of parking outside. The decor is charming love all the quotes and saying around the restaurant walls; we sat down and waited for a bit before we even got a menu. The food was just okay

The food was very good! I had scrambled eggs, pancakes and crispy bacon. The scrambled eggs were good, but what I really enjoyed were the HOT cakes and bacon! At a certain 4-lettered chain restaurant KNOWN for its pancakes, you have to butter your pancakes IMMEDIATELY to have the butter melt in to the pancake. And don't wait too long to eat them or they won't even be lukewarm...NOT here! They were HOT when they were brought to the table and STAYED hot for several minutes. The bacon was cooked to the perfect level of crispness and still was VERY FULL OF FLAVOR. I was not wild about the OJ. Pretty sure it was from concentrate. But the food and coffee more than made up for the orange juice. The server was a VERY nice lady. She was timely with her refills and courteous. Would DEFINITELY eat there again!

My favorite food in all of Dallas. I eat it at least once a week. Holy crap it's good. This food is comforting and always perfectly seasoned. The baked squash is something I crave until it's day they serve it. Sundays are a chicken and dressing must. The mac and cheese is clearly made with love. I always get a roll. Half the time I can't eat all my food so the pups occasionally get to split it. Needless to say we all look forward to ordering here.

Rating it 3 stars because the food was prepared fast it's all made at the right consistency, temperature, you know what I mean.... However the food itself was really bland like it neeeded seasoning baddddd. my eggs could use some salt and pepper my hash browns could too.... The only thing that was really good was my biscuits and gravy that was fire. Seasoning matters

So good! And affordable It's has a homecooked environment and taste. I definitely recommend for a good breakfast that may bring back some childhood memories

OK it's Wednesday August 9th and I don't have to go to work today so since I was near downtown Dallas I looked on yelp to help me find something to eat..mama's and daughters diner..mama needs to be SLAPPED for serving this food!! First the restaurant was semi crowded so I'm thinking this food must be the bomb..I ordered the baked chicken with squash casserole , corn and mash potatoes and gravy...can corn was OK same thing for the mash potatoes..squash??? What was that?? Indescribable squash..and finally the chicken...I ordered white meat and that chicken was THE toughest chicken I've ever had!!! My fork couldn't penetrate it!!! It was so dense and heavy that I couldn't separate the meat from the bone!!! I was highly P.Oed!!! Incredibly inedible!!! I paided my 17 dollars and left..will never return!!!

I have been coming here since 2013. At least 5 to 6 times a week. Went in on Monday for lunch. Ordered, she brought food out while in restroom washing hands. I noticed she also brought the check with the food and no lemon for my tea(which I always order). I sat there for 10min before she returned. When she did she checked on the table next to me, (white men)(waitress 70yr old white lady)she asked if they were ok and if they needed anything, and walked away. Never looked turned in my direction or asked if I needed anything. Flagged another waitress told her what happened and left. Went back for breakfast a day or so later and when I got my coffee, this is what the cup looked like. The lipstick was fresh. I smudged it because I couldn't believe it. it's a shame to let racism ruin a great restaurant...I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!

Came by today with a couple of co-workers. We're from out of town and in Dallas for work and happened upon this place. The parking lot was full but when we got in, we were seated right away. Location was clean and the employees were all friendly. My coworkers got breakfast items and said the pancakes were fantastic. I got the daily special chicken fried steak.. quite good.. the cornbread was so soft, slightly sweet and comforting. We got a peach cobbler with ice cream to share.. also delicious. And I got a piece of chocolate pie to go.. not sure how that is, but I'm betting it'll be delicious. Wish we had one of these diners back home!

The foods was good but the restaurant was dated and needed to be refurbished. I had turkey and dressing with veggies and friend chicken fried steak with veggie. This location is in the Design Art district.

We really enjoyed the food and the people here. It's like an old style diner - cool experience.

Wait staff was super friendly and breakfast was great! The cinnamon rolls are a great item to take home for the next day!

3.9. The food was good. Pancakes just like a like them, soft and fluffy. The soft scrambled eggs cooked perfectly and hashbrowns crunchy yet tender. The coffee was weak, unfortunately, and we were told there was nothing they could do. Wifey had the turkey sausage and it was really good too. Attention could be given to cleanliness. For example, our table they sat us at was sticky and had crumbs. Take home message: Looking for a place with good food and no frills, then look no further. You must try their pancakes and biscuits!!

Not our favorite breakfast in Dallas. This is a local spot that's got a great cozy, kitschy, and country-diner vibe. Lots of options on the breakfast menu and food comes out super quick after you order. Service is really friendly and we loved the sense of humor decorating the whole place. Unfortunately, the food was just okay. Eggs were hot and biscuits are pillowy, but the coffee tasted burnt and sausage gravy needed more flavor. Pancakes were okay, a bit typical and nothing special. Chicken-fried steak had definitely been sitting, so it was a bit cool and just didn't have great flavor, either. There's lots of locals and regulars here, so perhaps we just missed it on the food this time? There's so many other great breakfast spots in Dallas (Snooze, Lucky's, Yolk) that it may be a minute before we give Mother's Daughter's another try.

Great place. Amazing food and service. The portions are huge. They have fried pork chops for breakfast!!! The food was great. I had a pecan waffle and couldn't finish it. My family had the grits, French Toast and the sausage patties. Our food was hot, well seasoned and served with a smile. There was a small wait for a seat but again, it was worth the wait. It's the little things that matters. They have the sugar container where you can pour sugar for coffee. I love the sugar containers on the table and not opening all those paper packages! So I celebrate the convenience of poured sugar!!

First, I had to wait for several minutes before anyone acknowledged my granddaughter and I. Then someone came by took our drink order only to inform us our the waitress would be with us shortly. Upon wait another 5 minutes we finally placed our order. The sirloin steak was bland and cold. The eggs and hashbrowns wasn't much better. However my granddaughter enjoyed her chocolate chip Pancakes and bacon. The both of us enjoyed the hot chocolate.

We had 10 in a group and they accommodated us right away. Service and food were excellent. Clever design and a fun place. The menu was varied and could satisfy any reasonable person.

Nothing pretentious! Three generations family owned diner! Welcoming and efficient service! Solid breakfast and daily specials menu! Loving 'em "Biscuits 'n Gravy" and "Chicken Fried Steak"! Amusing decors! Catchy and once heard "Mama Says" quotes all around! Good ol' time every time! CHEERS!

Great food, great service, great price! Chicken & dumplings were perfection! I do prefer southern style green beans (thinner and rounder) but that's okay. Comfort food at its best.

I travel, A-lot. When I do I always do my best yo support locally owned 'Mom & Pop" style business. I had high hopes for this place as it has had some good reviews. I was very disappointed. Just the facts: I ordered the Mama's Favorite Breakfast. Asked for the eggs over medium and they were well over hard. Sausage patties were also hard and freezer burned. A sausage patty should have moisture and be slightly flexible, not a dried hockey puck. The hash browns were nearly burnt on the outside and the middle had a few frozen pieces. This tells me the griddle is set at too high a temperature, especially when your food comes out overcooked and yet still frozen. Coffee tasted old, like it had been sitting on the burner for hours. (24yr Navy Retired - I know my coffee). Biscuits were good and fluffy but the gravy had absolutely NO flavor, tasted like chalky flower. How do you cook the taste of sausage gravy....in TEXAS? Service was very quick, less than 5min. but then again there were only a small handful of people in the restaurant and when everything is cooked at the same temperature...well... Staff was very friendly though. Seemed to know everyone but me in the restaurant. Genuine cork ceiling tiles....very 70's

Beans and cornbread are the best. I have been visiting the place for 25 years now. Service is always on point. The building needs some updates and clean up. I will still eat there because the food is always that home cooking I am looking to find.

Love the food let me ask when it comes to meatloaf are you a red sauce , brown gravy or ketchup type person. Growing up my mom used ketchup so I love ketchup on my meatloaf. So you know what I ordered lol with taters, peach halves and carrots, the food was great. Service on the other hand was poor. The waitress that my co worker and I had was very rude acting and acted like she was ready to get us out of there before we even ordered. She brought me two teas right off so she didn't have to get me a refill but when you are working and thirsty tea doesn't last long in the south, so had to wait almost till I was done with my food before she noticed I needed a refill luckily my co worker ordered a water and gave it to me. No one likes being rushed when eating and no one likes to sit and wait till they are almost done with their food to get a refill. But as I said food was great service was poor now the atmosphere of the place I love the atmosphere cause you might get seated with people you don't even know by the time you leave you made a few new friends. I will come back to this spot the food is good and love the atmosphere but hopefully get a better server next go round but I'm gonna grade this on food and atmosphere if it was service then it would be 1 star but since I will not base my score on the service I'll give it 4 if the service was better 5.

I haven't been here in about 20yrs, but it was exactly how I remember it. Fast, friendly, and delicious!

the diner is super cute and reasonable. the service is up to par- even exceeding my expectations. i was treated so sweetly and felt welcomed . the food was so delicious their biscuits are so soft and i loved the gravy. I ate it up!!.
