The 13 Best Restaurants & Bars In Idyllwild - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"If you’re visiting Idyllwild in the warmer months, there’s no better place for a lazy Sunday breakfast than Mama’s front patio. The expansive deck is well-shaded with great views of the local dogs, plus there’s plenty of room for big groups. Most people at this order-at-the-counter spot are eating French toast, and rightfully so, Mama cooks up a good one. Our order though is the chile verde omelet. Stuffed with juicy pork chile verde and gooey mozzarella, this fluffy, three-egg masterpiece is exactly what you need after losing repeatedly in drunk Twister at the cabin last night." - brant cox

Busy during the weekend but worth the wait. While we were waiting, I was eyeing all the food being brought out. There burgers looked huuuge, burritos were gigantic! I ordered the Chilaquillas and rib eye, and it was delicious. Outside seating as well as inside. No fountain drinks, only bottled, coffees, OJ and I believe I saw them making some mixed alcoholic drinks too. Definitely recommend

We ate at many great restaurants during our long weekend to Idyllwild but this was the only place we went to twice! It may look busy but the line moves fast. We had biscuits & gravy, chicken fried steak, ahi tuna salad, BLTA sandwich, a few different smoothies, and everything was delicious. We'd definitely stop in again next time we're in town.

Google
We have been here 3 times already, which means the flavor of the food is so Delicious!! Their Chicken and Waffle is oh my so mouthwatering good!!!! Their French Toast is delicious as well.... we have ordered the Country Fried Steak, the Chile Relleno Omelette, the BLT, the Bacon Burger, and everyone has been satisfied and pleased with the taste of their food! Top it with a glass of fresh squeezed Orange Juice and oh my... it’s a wonderful breakfast. It is a bit pricey but we really enjoy our time eating at the outdoor sitting enjoying the fresh air of nature! I can honestly say that everyone in our party recommends this place.

Google
I ordered the Manny's Omelette, which has chorizo, nopales (catus), mushrooms, red onion, pepper jack cheese, and avocado. I ordered mine with hash brown, and instead of toast, I paid $2 more for a biscuit and gravy. The gravy was delicious!!! I will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

From the moment you arrive, you'll realize this isn't your typical breakfast joint, which adds to it's charm. The open seating setup, with it's perfect balance of indoor coziness and outdoor fresh air and sunshine, sets the tone for a relaxed, welcoming meal. Time slows down here. You'll likely arrive to find a line out the front door. Don't let that detour you! That's how you will order. As you wait in line, the servers will float past with plates that will make your mouth water and have you rethinking your order several times. Honestly, it's the best kind of marketing, every dish that passed by made me hungrier and more excited to try this charming spot. Ordering was simple and our drinks were served right away. The coffee did not disappoint and that alone deserves 5 stars, along with the fresh squeezed sunshine in a glass, we call orange juice. Do to the genius marketing, we shared our plates to be able to get a more in depth experience of flavor. Our taste buds were tantalized by a Belgian waffle with eggs, and a hearty breakfast burrito. Both simple and flavorful. This spot has officially earned it's place of my "return again" list.

Google
I wanted to not like this place because the price for the quantity seemed high, but the execution on the flavor of the cocktails for lunch and the salad was exquisite. Kudos to Juan for making some truly remarkable beverages. The Hibiscus Margarita 🌺 and The Empress Lavender Lemonade drink were memorable, refreshing, and so tasty. You can see the effort that went into these quality drinks. I was pissed that the side of fries were $7. There were like 40ish fries. We also ate there for breakfast. Felt it was pricey but we’re here in the mountains, it basically tourist pricing so I figure we gotta deal with it and be grateful to be here. Still giving them 5 starts.

Google
It took quite a while to get food, but we were enjoying the view outside so it wasn’t that bad!

Google
This place is Awsome. You must wait in line to order, however you get to see all the delicious plates coming out of the kitchen. I ordered chilaquiles and steak refried beans 2 eggs over easy at an additional cost, a must do if you can put it down. ENJOY

Yelp
Coffee Review - I've tried coffee at all the coffee shops in Idyllwild and Mama's Eggs has the Best Espresso in town! Not Acidic like everywhere else. Most of the time I will go out of my way just for the coffee....... The food is great as well.

Yelp
Super friendly service with the ambiance of a diner. Food was amazing, especially the fries and onion rings. We got French toast, the kids' breakfast special, Philly cheese steak, and the bacon mushroom burger - all tasty BUT the fries and onion rings were delicious. Will come back again.

Yelp
Disgusting do not do it. First off - We waited 40 minutes to order food because they are disorganized and have you order before sitting. The person who runs the register also gets the drinks. So she constantly left the counter for drinks. Not efficient in the slightest. They also have you use the patio door instead of the side door. This clogged it up where people are constantly running into you versus an efficient line from the side. There was plenty of seating. The line was clearly about inefficiency. They also don't even give you an order number or a buzzer or anything. They just walk around with your plates, yelling your name out like your cattle - everything about this is disrespectful to the customer. But the absolute worst was after waiting all that time to get the food - There was hair all over it! At first we ate our pancakes, nothing was wrong and then I saw a bunch of hair on my son's ham steak... The eggs were supposed to be over medium, but as you can see, they are over easy very - on the easy side, if they didn't cook them at all. We told the lady about the hair and she brought us another ham steak, but by then we were already done... And then we noticed there was hair inside the eggs after eating one. And it was not a human hair - It was dog hair. This is disgusting and they should be flagged from the health department. And no, we did not have a dog. We didn't even have a dog around us - So it came from the kitchen... just don't.

Yelp
Stopped into Mama's Egg House while up in Idyllwild and absolutely loved it. The food was fresh, flavorful, and felt homemade in the best way. The portions were generous, everything came out hot, and you can tell they really take pride in their breakfast dishes. The service was warm and attentive, and the whole spot has that cozy, mountain-town vibe that makes you want to linger a little longer. It's the kind of place you can come for a relaxed morning, good coffee, and food that hits the spot. Would definitely come back next time I'm in Idyllwild.

Yelp
Such a cute little eatery in Idyllwild! I had breakfast out on the little deck and it was a beautiful day with lots of umbrellas for shade. It seems to be a fast casual concept where you order at the counter. They do bring the food out to you. The menus could've used a cleaning, they look like they had seen better days, and they were definitely smudges of food on them. I got the huevos rancheros and it was delicious! Tons of flavor and just the right amount of spice in the sauce. I asked for the breakfast potatoes extra crispy and they didn't seem extra crispy, but they did taste really good. I also loved the big chunks of veggies and there was a nice serving of avocado as well. My food came out really fast and was piping hot. My fiancé got the three egg breakfast. Simple and tasty! The eggs and bacon were cooked to perfection. Coffee was above average for a breakfast spot, but not as good as a coffee shop. Also, no Wi-Fi available and in a town that has poor Internet service that is a bummer.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast spot! I ordered the 3-egg plate with bacon, toast, and fresh fruit, and it was perfect (believe it or not, I've seen other places mess this up). My fiancée had the huevos rancheros, and I stole a few bites--the sauce tasted homemade, with just the right amount of spice. The balance of flavor was ideal. Service was great--friendly staff and quick food delivery. The outdoor patio is serene and spacious, with lots of natural light and a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to enjoy your coffee and meal. We went around 9:45am on a Monday, and it wasn't crowded at all. The only downsides: the menus could definitely use a wipe-down, and there's no Wi-Fi, which is a little surprising for a mountain town that gets so much tourism. Overall, a great place to start the morning--I'd come back.

Yelp
I came in with higher expectations and left feeling a little let down. The food itself was very good, but the overall vibe leaned much more toward a fast-food joint than the sit-down restaurant I thought it would be. Maybe that's the concept, but nothing I read or heard beforehand gave that impression. Our food came out incredibly fast--so fast that we barely had a chance to take a sip of our coffee. In hindsight, I wish I had ordered the coffees first to actually enjoy them alongside the meal. We just expected something paced more like a restaurant experience rather than quick-service dining. That said, the chili verde burrito was flavorful, though not piping hot, and their signature hot sauce was fantastic--definitely a highlight. The staff was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated. The atmosphere was a bit mixed: one side of the restaurant felt like a fast-food setup, while the other side had a much cozier, restaurant-like feel. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the experience didn't quite match what we anticipated.

Yelp
Our first time eating at this establishment. Tina had a big veggie omelette I had eggs Florentine Benedict Service was pleasant food was good except the potatoes were not hot. They fixed it right away The eggs were overcooked as the yolks were hard not like a poached egg would be Other than that it was worth the $47 we spent Tina had coffee too

Yelp
Amazing place 10/10 Good flavor, food incredible and all the staff so friendly, the chilaquiles with steak are the best definitive we'll be back. Thank you mi compa Manny...

Yelp
This was my second time here. It was a lovely afternoon sitting on the patio and tasty food. I like the order at the counter aspect, it's nice to be able to pick our own table. Can't wait for another day in the mountains to come here again!

Yelp
This place is consistently delicious! So much so I often forget to take pictures. Nearly every morning lately I've been getting a green goddess juice with ginger instead of orange juice (and two if it's a Tuesday since they close Wednesdays), and it's the perfect pick me up and delicious every time. The burritos are huge and even more satisfying with chorizo, and the fried chicken with waffles is worth every bite (and I sometimes sub out the waffle for salad if it's more lunch time). The kiddos always get and love their pancakes eggs bacon etc, and really I guess this is all to say that almost everything I've had there has been perfection, and even the things that weren't exactly my taste upon order were easily amenable with their spicy salsa. It gets crowded on the weekends so allow extra time, but they move REALLY fast and are very kind. The vibe is relaxing and it's fun to watch the town bustle from the front porch area. Thank you Mamas Egg House!

Yelp
We tried out Mama's Egg House for breakfast while in Idyllwild. The spot had a cool aesthetic kind of like a mountain town diner. The menu has some cool options like omelettes, chilaquiles, etc.. We put our names in and were told 25 minutes. Came back 40 minutes later and were told 10 more, so the wait ended up being a bit longer than expected. Not a big deal just something to note. Once we got seated the service was fine but wasn't super accommodating. For example I asked to swap one veggie for another in my omelette and was told it would still be a full charge. Stuff like that just made it feel a bit rigid. My omelette was filling but pretty oily, hash browns felt underwhelming. My girlfriend felt the same, she thought hers was too oily and didn't really enjoy it. She didn't want to go back. To be fair the chilaquiles at the table next to us looked fun, so maybe we just didn't order the right thing. Still, for us, it wasn't a spot we'd return to. There are other breakfast options in Idyllwild that felt more fun and worth the stop. I'm sure there are folks who enjoy this place, but this was our experience. P.S. They said their orange juice was freshly squeezed in house, but I'd be pretty surprised if that were true based on how it tasted, we didn't like it at all.

Yelp
Literally the best pancakes I've ever eaten. Eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. The staff were so nice. I really recommend this place!!

Yelp
Oh boy! We landed at this restaurant while adventuring into Idyllwild. It was busy but we managed to find a table for 4. The staff was busy, friendly and they were prompt to clean empty tables. The food is so good! I ordered the Vegan Breakfast Burrito, ate only half because it was so big. They have good music playing. Only one bathroom but it works. Everyone in my group loved their food.

Yelp
WOWOWOW. This is a must if you're in Idyllwild. The best Mexican brunch I've ever had, inside or outside of SoCal. I got the chilaquiles verdes and it was tear-inducing good after a morning hike. The tortillas here are fried hot and fresh. Perfect amount of crispy! The verde sauce is the perfect balance of spicy and tangy. My partner got the chile verde omelette which also looked fantastic. We topped it off with two coffees for the perfect breakfast. This will absolutely be our new staple when coming through Idyllwild!

Yelp
I read another person's review about the gravy, and was very skeptical! Needless to say, I am a believer now!! I'm a gravy snob. Their gravy is the best I've ever had. Chicken fried steak was crispy and delicious. Soooooo much food! We shared and were both stuffed. Fresh pressed juices were incredible! Parking is easy. Order at the counter. Friendly and attentive staff. Casual and comfortable, there were signs for cocktails, also.

Yelp
Mama's Egg House was happening!!! Prices were pretty standard (average $15-20) and the food portion was generous!! Lots of options on the menu. Came on a quiet Tuesday morning and got quick service. There were other people dining in too. The food was super yummy and fresh. Overall had a positive experience and would come back again! Cute, modern interior and easy parking.

Yelp
My daughter and I drove up from Palm Springs for the day and stopped here for breakfast. Even though I usually plan ahead and had already chosen what I wanted for breakfast, but when I was ready to order, they had birria chilequiles on special. The patio is super cute and the service was speedy. Everyone was really nice. The food was solid and filling!

Yelp
I wish I had taken pictures. I also wish I hadn't gone here. We paid $66 for a salmon salad and a Philly cheesesteak, one hot tea and one Dasani water. So let me start with the salad. The salmon was flavorless and extremely undercooked. The cup of dressing wasn't enough to cover even half of it. Now the sandwich, it was a Philly cheesesteak. There was maybe one little tiny string of cheese on it. Supposed to have onions and peppers, yet only had peppers. Zero onions. The steak was cubed, not shaved like a cheesesteak usually is. Again this was flavorless and the bites of meat tasted like nothing but dry meat. I would not walk across the street to eat this food again. The workers were not friendly at all and there was a long line purely bc they only have one person working the register where you order and getting drinks. Like I said I wish I'd thought to take pictures. Both of us felt a little queasy after the food and we barely ate any of it. $66 down the drain. Oh and let me add, the bathroom was absolutely horrendous when my gf used it.

Yelp
We had such a great experience at Mama's Egg House! There is both indoor seating and an outdoor patio with a beautiful view. The menu is even better, clearly labeled with vegan options, which was so helpful. The food was delicious, the service exceptional, and to top it all off, they are incredibly pet-friendly. Highly recommend visiting if you're in Idyllwild. I'll definitely be back again with my pup, who also had a wonderful time enjoying the friendly staff and visitors. And to the management at Mama's Egg House, thank you so much for the note on your window about hot concrete and how harmful it can be for pups to walk on in high heat without paw protection. Spreading awareness is so important and you are awesome for that! :)

Yelp
was absolutely knocked out by how good this place is. my "modest" expectations were exceeded by a country mile and then some. lots of locals and working folks in the customer mix and not just "weekenders." always a good sign. woke up EARLY and worked a couple of hours before taking a break to grab something to eat. got there late. wasn't feeling breakfast so I ordered the BACON-MUSHROOM BURGER with fries. turns out, MAMA's EGG HOUSE is another surprisingly good place to grab a burger in Idyllwild. the RED CHILAQUILAS with beans and scrambled eggs were outstanding. stole a bite when the wife-unit wasn't looking. have a mild preference for green but was still impressed. had the BACON, SCRAMBLED EGGS, and PANCAKES on another visit and they were solid too. make a point of brunching here every time we weekend (or longer) at the cabin. highly recommended.

Yelp
Oh my bajeebers, this place is good! First off, you order at the counter, and they bring it to your table. They have a great outdoor seating area, as well as indoor, with a lot of light and very airy as well. Started off with freshly squeezed orange juice. YUM!! Hubs and I shared a Chili Verdi Omelette and he added 1 pancake. It was so delicious! The sauce was perfectly flavored with a hint of heat, but not spicy at all. There were good chunks of pork in it as well. The hashbrowns were crispy, and the bread that came with it was toasted and yet soft. The pancake was really fluffy with berries on top. I think he said it was $3 extra. Not bad at all. Speaking with the waitress, she said they make their freshly squeezed orange juice on demand and all of their juices and smoothies don't have any added sugar. Maybe some honey but pure fruits and vegetables. I haven't tried any of their specialty juices, but I'm going back to do so! The girls working there were super friendly and helpful. Love this place!

Yelp
Such a cute spot for Saturday brunch! Sat outside where the sun was peaking and the breeze was nice. Staff were nice and friendly. I had the Manny's omelette which had cactus in it, never tried one and it was pretty good. Matcha latte was ok. Hubby had the Country fried steak which was cooked nicely. He liked his Chai latte. Portions were big and we definitely left very full.
google avatar

Alyssa A.

Yelp
This was the most recommended breakfast restaurant while we were visiting, so naturally we had to stop by and check out the hype. Food is delicious and lives up to the hype (so if you're unsure, take the plunge!). The most recommended dish was their Tiramisu French Toast, and I can definitely agree with this. Perfect French toast with a rich, tiramisu-esque whipped cream complete with fruit and a lady finger. A decadent breakfast that is perfect for someone who likes the sweeter things. While simple, their trio breakfast is also a great choice - especially if you like the classics. Eggs, bacon, toast, and fruit. A hearty breakfast that will leave you satisfied. A more laidback restaurant as you order at the counter, and they'll bring the food out to your table. We sat outside, weather was nice, and it was so incredibly enjoyable. Dog friendly outside, which is always a major plus when picking a restaurant. Definitely recommend as a great stop for breakfast.

Yelp
I came here via car for lunch on a Friday in late November 2024. We found street parking pretty close by. The food here was surprisingly very tasty and flavorful. I ordered the Country Fried Steak and it was very yummy. The batter was very crispy and the sauce was excellent. I was able to finish the entire steak - it was that good. I normally don't finish the food that I order and have to take it home. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. The service was good. You have to go to the counter to order and they give you a number to place on your table. I would highly recommend this place if you ever go to Idyllwild.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
We enjoyed mango mimosas to start. She chose the huevos ranchero while I finally picked the chili relleno omelet and is was spectacular! Everything was first class and we sat outside under the pines with our 2 1/2 yo golden, Gidget.
google avatar

Yelp
The servers were kind and very friendly. Food needed a little more flavor. The ambiance was chill. Space was horrific. They need more than one bathroom, preferably separate male & female would be nice. Would we ever come back? Maybe.

Yelp
Where do I even start? I love it! My friend group heard good reviews on TikTok and decided to give it a try. Those reviews did not disappoint at all. Pros: - The portions!! The portions were huge. It's definitely worth the money. The food here can be share with another person. - The chicken was so crunchy and well seasoned. That was my favorite dish out of everything we got. - The restroom check: clean! - The service was nice and the vibes were good. Cons: - The sandwich could use a little bit more seasoning, but we fixed it with some salt and ketchup! Overall, I would 100% come back just for the chicken and waffle. I love it. Thank you for reading.

Yelp
Oh God, this place is a destination! The breakfast/lunch menu is absolutely insane. The quality of the menu and food is really impressive! Oh don't mind the indoor/outdoor tables options..! Not going into details, but all you have to do is to go to their website and check-out the long, desirable menu. Plenty of parking in the area...Yep, this is a winner.... One more reason to visit the pine trees....:)

Yelp
COUNTRY GRAVY!! Finally. Someplace that knows the real ingredients and spices for COUNTRY GRAVY. I know that ingredient that puts it over the top and there isn't a place in San Diego county that knows it. When a place says, "we have the best Biscuits and Gravy, Chicken Fried steak and gravy etc etc", no you don't. Why? Your gravy is bland and boring. The second I put a forkful of Mama's Chicken Fried Steak and their Country Gravy in my mouth, I TASTED IT!! FENNEL and/or TARRAGON. THANK YOU! It is the most amazing gravy and their Chicken Fried Steak?? WOW! So crispy and crunch and tender. Really really good. This place has ruined Chicken Fried Steak and Country Gravy for every single restaurant in Southern California. It is THE best. Don't believe me, try it. Their sausage links are the best as well. Next time I've got to try their chilaquiles. They've got a few different kinds and they looked amazing coming out of the kitchen. All their food looked good. As for some "bad reviews" about their ordering system, it is posted on the door as you walk in. Those people must not be able to read. It's posted everywhere. ORDER AT THE COUNTER and then go grab a table. They bring it out to you. It's not rocket science. It's actually pretty smart and an efficient way to do business. We sat outside for breakfast. It was beautiful out. My husband had the Prosciutto Benedict with Country potatoes that were amazing. Best country potatoes I've ever had as well. San Diego County breakfast suck. I've got to drive 2hrs to Idyllwild to get me some good food.

Yelp
I hesitate posting this review since there are much bigger issues going on in the world right now. My buddy and I were not told when we walked in to order food at the counter. One of the workers told us to sit at any table outside, which we did. When we sat down, we were given menus and nothing was said. After waiting 15 minutes and nobody coming to our table l, we went to wait in line at the counter to order, which was another 10 minutes. After ordering, which now has been 25 minutes since we walked in, we asked the staff at the counter why we were told to sit and handed menus without being told anything, two workers "said" they told us to order inside and then said there are signs posted to order at the counter. My humble advice is to remind people walking in to order their food at the counter then find a table. To end on a positive note, the food is delicious and there are generous portions.
google avatar

Anthony P.

Yelp
The food and service were good. It's a little different than I'm use too. You go in and order your food, then seat yourself outside. The server brings you your food as it's ready instead of waiting til all the orders in your party is ready. Which means we were eating and finishing at different times. Once the food is received, no one comes by to check on the tables. You have to either go inside or flag one them as they come out. So I'm not sure why you would tip. The food is okay but a little expensive for breakfast. But with the prices the way they are today it's a little understandable. The outdoor ambiance was amazing.

Yelp
We had brunch here both mornings during our weekend in Idyllwild. Mama's Egg House is exactly the kind of cozy, down-to-earth spot you hope to find in a mountain town. The food was hearty and delicious both days--classic breakfast done right. We sat outside each time, and it was the perfect setting--peaceful, fresh mountain air, and the sweet sounds of birds nearby. That kind of calm is hard to come by, and it made the whole experience even better. Idyllwild Mama's Egg House is the kind of place you return to--not just for the food, but for the atmosphere and the good vibes. Can't wait to come back next time we're in town!

Yelp
Was in town for the weekend (first time in beautiful Idyllwild) and decided to try this local favorite for breakfast with my friend. She got the prosciutto benedict and I ordered the three egg breakfast plate w/ fruit for my side. I thought the eggs were a bit low quality, considering the name (was hoping for flavorful, rich orange colored egg yolks), but were cooked over medium perfectly and the sourdough toast was thick and delicious, and delish not too greasy bacon. The grapes in the mixed fruit were a bit old but Appreciated that it was minimal melon and also had watermelon and pineapple! My friends hashbrowns were crunchy and yummy and she seemed to enjoy her plate. Loved being able to enjoy on the patio that has plenty of shade and lots of seating along the other side of the restaurant too. Prices were a bit higher than I would've thought coming from LA, but perhaps due to the remote location. Next time I come, I'll have their French toast!

Yelp
If you're looking for good sized portions, savory and delicious food that offers fresh squeezed juices, smoothies and coffee Mama's Egg house has you covered. You can find your spot to sit down (inside or out) and then you go inside and place your order and staff will bring out your food. Plenty of seating for big parties as well. By far one of the best chicken waffles I've ever had. Definitely has that southern taste and feel. And the waffle was made perfectly; chicken was crunchy with a sweet and savory taste. And to wash it down with a golden hour fresh juice. And if you have kids they have a changing station inside the bathroom. Highly recommended for food, ambiance, and overall a great restaurant.

Yelp
The best breakfast in town!! My husband and I have frequented this location several times over the years, and it is always a highlight to the weekend. The chicken fried steak is the absolute best I have ever had. The sausage is fantastic. I also have had the club and sweet potato fries, and it was great! The location is nice, with a lot to walk to afterwards. Great deck with trees all around. It does get busy, so I recommend getting there early if possible. We arrived around nine on Saturday, and noticed the line forming around 10AM. We have waited in line after a late start, and it's still worth it. Nice staff too.

Yelp
Mama's your "birria chilaquiles" were the best Ive ever had! My crush orange mimosa was wow! My partner in crime had your fried chicken and waffles. WOW WOW WOW! Nestled in beautiful Idyllwild and surrounded by pine trees as the mist covered the mountains was an experience that I will cherish forever. Every person who works here simply nice. Keep it up! Hope to be back so soon! Till then; happy March.

Yelp
Had to wait in line for approximately 25-30 mins, but it was definitely worth the wait. Not to mention, after ordering, our food came out within 15 minutes and was fresh and delicious!! The price is a little steep, but when you see the delicious food and how this place is a well oiled machine it all makes sense! YAYs: Mixed berry smoothie- so tasty. I added peanut butter. It's a little watery for a smoothie, but incredibly fresh. Steak and egg burrito- Dayumm. This thing could serve as breakfast, lunch, and dinner it's so big! Sooo tasty. The meat was plentiful and tender, eggs and potatoes were perfectly cooked. Personally think it could've used more veggies to round it out, but great burrito. Waffle and Eggs- these were good, pretty standard. Not much to write home about in terms of waffle, BUT, my hubby requested the birria special on the side instead of sausage ($5), and it was the star of the show. "best birria I've ever had" is the phrase he used! Can't wait to return on our next trip to Idyllwild!!

Yelp
You walk up and order. I made the mistake of grabbing a seat out on the patio and came back to order. The line was so long by the time I came back. Next time I'll stand there and order first. Prosciutto eggs Benedict is messy, the ham is stringy and of course I need a spoon to eat my eggs Benedict it's a whole production but I would order it again. I don't eat the English muffin and I couldn't finish all the prosciutto so that being said this dish will fill you up. Mama got their eggs just right, creamy delicious poached eggs. You can get it with a side of hashbrowns, cottage cheese, or fruit. I chose fruit, which was a mixture of grapes, pineapple, and watermelon. I just wish it was not brought to me in a plastic container. I got pretty cold out on the patio, but it was still such a nice day. They turned on the heat lamp for me so I was able to stay outside for a little bit. Too noisy to read but that's okay. My drink settled my gut nicely and others around me seemed to enjoy a green juice perhaps it was the Green goddess smoothie. I was craving Ginger so I had the golden hour juice which is orange, carrots, pineapple, and ginger. They have several vegan choices and even a vegan soda that sounds really good made out of elder flower and rose lemonade. Next time, if I'm craving something sweet, I will order the tiramisu French toast. It looked so good.! I will be back.

Yelp
Music playlist is so relaxing and welcoming. Well done. This place is a treat for sure. The staff is super nice but the service is a bit different. When you walk in you're seated with menus but they inform you that once you're ready to order to go to the register up front. The food was tasty! Very fair portions and very well seasoned. I recommend the huevos rancheros. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy. That was a hit too. The plus for me being a toddler parent is that there is a changing table in the restroom. Any parent of babies or toddlers can relate. Makes all the difference. Plus the restroom is very luxurious. Kudos to the fast and friendly staff. Cheers.

Yelp
This was our first trip to Idyllwild and randomly stopped here for some breakfast. We came back all three days we were here. The burger was amazing. We also tried their chilaquiles and ribeye and it was also amazing. Do yourself a favor and get a juice with a cup of ice on the side. EVERYTHING is amazing. Nice tequila choices. Can't say enough of this place. ITS A MUST TRY!

Yelp
Nothing fancy about this place except the Bloody Mary (omg to the sugared bacon) - but the local vibe, the cool outdoor patio with heaters and the no-nonsense service all works. You order at the counter, get your number and the servers come find you. Simple and easy. Food is ample portions / solid omelets, fresh juices & smoothies, and a nice offering of "comfort" diner foods - ate here 3x with friends during a film festival and we all had a solid breakfast and a couple darn fine Bloody Mary's.

Yelp
Lovely food. Manny's sandwich, BTLA, egg burrito all tasty winners. Only one bathroom unfortunately so be prepared to wait.

Yelp
Insanely good food. The humpty dumpty burger and pastrami sandwich had the table silent. Generous helpings. Line was long. Patrons order at register and seat themselves. Wasn't hard to find a table. Bathroom is clean and has changing table for babies. Easy to find parking. Plan on spending $20-$25 a person and $10-15 for kids. Indoor and outdoor seating. Access to whole town.

Yelp
The mountains in Los Angeles are really bare. If you want to feel the forest, I drove to Idyllwild, which is about two hours away. This trip was decided on the spur of the moment, so I didn't do any research. I just picked a brunch shop that looked good, and it turned out to be pretty good. I wanted to eat fried chicken and waffles for a long time I didn't expect this dish to be real fried chicken + waffles, chicken is chicken and pancakes are pancakes. The fried chicken is sweet, and it's good to eat it on the spot, but it feels a bit weird to take it home and taste it again. The other plate is an ordinary American breakfast, a big bowl, and I choked on the three eggs.

Yelp
We went to Mamas Egg house because it's one of the few places we haven't tried in Idyllwild. It's a casual diner type eatery with great outdoors patio. They don't have table service and you order from the counter. Beer and wine only. I had the lobster Benedict and it was pretty good, the sangria was also great. Service was fast and attentive as well.

Yelp
While on a weekend trip we had breakfast here on Sunday morning. There was a long line to place our order but it was worth the wait. Many options to choose from, from traditional breakfast to burritos and chilaquiles. The lunch menu has sandwiches and salads. Full bar and all. It's a great place to eat. It's cozy and clean. The outdoor seating was my favorite, feels like dining in the woods. Overall customer service was friendly and attentive. It's a good place to eat while in Idyllwild.

Yelp
I like the outdoor patio for Mama's Steakhouse. Most of staff were friendly but some seem uninterested and bored. What was really really bad was the food. We got the meat lovers and the trio and they were lukewarm at best. Most of who was just plain cold. Obviously a lot of the Meat and other items were sitting in a Warmer. The English muffin was stale. The eggs look like they were made too soon as they were spongy and dried out. The maple syrup is a joke because it's clearly not But they want you to think it's real because it's in the maple syrup bottle. The last insult is that the hot chocolate was clearly made with water.
