Google
Wonderful food, amazing service, huge menu... I could go on and on about how wonderful this breakfast was. Also, they even had my flavored creamer for my coffee and brought us a pot to the table!!! Oh my goodness, they also have free crosses outside!

Google
Old dive/cafe place must visit in Tyler for the food was absolutely amazing! There was a bit of wait for the food as everything is made to order but it worth the wait. Kinda of old small place so the tables, chairs and decor is quite of date and not that big. Not much parking in the front but plenty in the back.

MK Brumels

Google
Comfy spot with great food! Open-concept inside with high ceilings. Could use new menus and signage to make it feel cleaner but that's not a big deal.

B.J. Gober

Google
The meal I had was just not that good. I had the hamburger steak way to salty and not good flavor. The sides of broccoli and fried oakra were good. Service was a little slow, especially when you charge a mandatory 20% tip. Service better be over the top.

The Reviewist

Google
I was thoroughly impressed by the comforting, homemade flavors at this cozy eatery! The cheeseburger was absolute perfection, while the fries boasted a delightful contrast of crunchy, salty exteriors giving way to rich, buttery centers. The pancakes were equally impressive, with a deliciousness that left me wanting more. What's remarkable about this place is its ability to elevate classic comfort foods into something truly special. From the perfectly crispy chips to the sublime salsa with just the right balance of heat and flavor, every bite felt like a warm hug from a loved one. Overall, this hidden gem is a must-visit for anyone craving a delicious, homemade-style meal that's sure to leave you feeling full and satisfied. Oh, and I had the best Dr pepper I've ever had in my life here! We got home and I was regretting not ordering one to go! The prices were great and so were the portions

Cardwell Farm

Google
Very old school feel, the food was great, prices were great, plates were huge. Mom and me split the big biscuit breakfast. We couldn't finish it together. So good

Google
Hands down, best omelette I've ever had. Stopped in while in town for business, and now it will be my go-to when here. May even have to consider moving to Tyler now 🤣

Google
I ordered the pot roast dinner from Mama’s Restaurant and was really let down. The meal came with pot roast, carrots, onions, mashed potatoes, green beans, and mac and cheese—but everything lacked seasoning. The roast was tender but bland, and the sides didn’t help; the mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant and the mac and cheese was especially mushy and flavorless. I was expecting hearty, comforting food, but it just didn’t deliver. Hoping this was an off day, but I likely won’t be ordering again unless the flavor improves.

Yelp
This place looks almost vintage, especially with those windows and booths! Tyler's hole in the wall is popular for brunch that has served my love so well that we had to come back together seating was quite fast ordering as well. Their service was quite fast, but nothing to write home about. The omelette with Bernadaise sauce, and the omelette with steak pieces were well enjoyed. Definitely a place where we can have a quick meal in and out. Mama has also all kinds of art display that are for sale.

Yelp
Quality ingredients and well prepared. Today I had the biscuits and eggs combination which comes with sausage (very good), hash browns, and pancakes (excellent). Will be back!!

Yelp
Food was amazing-- hot and fresh. Service was good, not excellent, but far from bad. Hole in the wall, good breakfast!! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Visiting a new town and needed breakfast. This spot had the highest rating 3.9 and I was hungry enough to try. Biscuits and gravy- delicious. The gravy tasted fabulous and I just LOVE you can get one biscuit. The pancakes on the menu showed the pancakes with the blueberry inside the batter. I was delivered a blueberry compost. Too sweet. I slid it off and ate a bit. The cakes were delicious. Maybe you should confirm what you're going to get of you try this spot. Located inside a strip mall. Outside parking. Service was great and our waitress was very attentive.

Yelp
Mama's Where do I begin? I remember the first time I walked in, so young, innocent and confused. Was I about to eat breakfast food? Or Mexican food? Young naive Jesse had no idea that these 2 social constructs could be so effortlessly merged to create something beautiful. Mexican breakfast food. Get ready to gorge yourself or have plenty of leftovers as you order the Mexicana omelet that has refried beans , peppers, a sauce and a flank steak on the top, not to mention a side of pancakes and chips and salsa. Mama's feels like the culturally diverse home you were never apart of but looking back, you wish you were. Come back to your senses, Come back home, Come to mamas

Yelp
Breakfast was unbelievable. Service was a little slow, but they were busy that morning for bunch. Its an old building.

Trevor H.

Yelp
Bountiful in portions and pleaseantries. Mama's coffee is great. If you have good coffee you have my business, nothing's worse than a nice breakfast with bland coffee to wash it down. Staff is very nice (hence the pleasantries) Pretty stripped down environment but there is lots of space, and there is what I assume to be local artwork all over (for sale) Nice old building with character.

Yelp
Although the restaurant was clean and quiet, and the service was excellent, the food was bland and tasteless. Our server was prompt and attentive, but good service does not trump truly lackadaisical food. The barabcoa was not what I expected...more along the lines of a dry roast with gravy than true Mexican barabcoa. My husband had a three enchilada plate with rice and beans that was honestly the worst example of Mexican food I've ever tasted. Save your money.... Go to Manny's on Fifth and for breakfast, why take the chance? Go to Happy's across the street.

Craig B.

Yelp
Had a great breakfast machca was excellent and wife's breakfast was cooked perfectly a very rare accomplishment great service

Joanie T.

Yelp
Went for the much raved about enchiladas. Don't do it!between 2 of us we tried all 3 kinds. Cheese was a hard block of cheddar, beef plain ground beef, chicken did have large chunks of chicken. Very bland tasteless filling & sauces covering. HOWEVER, the hot sauce was spicy & amazing!! If you go for breakfast, ask for their hot sauce instead of picante!! Nice folks though.

Yelp
We love going to Mama's on Friday mornings after a doctor appointment. Mary is the most amazing waitress she will know you by name if you visit a time or two .

Yelp
Good service and Good food. Will go again God Willing Soon! The pork chops were delicious

Yelp
Top 3 breakfast places in ALL of Tyler & East Texas. Good pricing, great good, and consistently outstanding service. Best things: Migas - THE best in town. Get it with beans and hashbrowns for an absolutely perfect combo. Machacha - Another fabulous creation unique to Mama's. Eat this you'll taste buds will be dancing their machachas off! El Mexicano Omelette- unique to here and one of the best things on the menu. There is something fantastic about beans in an omelette. Simple, but brilliant. Get coffee & they leave a carafe on the table for your own refills. Why doesn't everywhere do this? 2 locations - this one & Broadway. Both are good. This one is better.

Yelp
This is one of the best mexican restaurants I have been too. Authentic, great tasting, and great service. I loved the the restaurant itself, but the service and the food are what make it amazing. The enchiladas are to die for as well as the pancakes. If you haven't eaten here yet, you should.

Tim B.

Yelp
Mama's is great!!! Every time I ask my grandkids where they want to go to eat, my grandson Eli always says Mamas . I have had burgers, sandwiches, and other meals that were quite delicious. My very favorite though is breakfast. I love their fluffy pancakes and wonderful waffles. I love their sausage patty and crispy bacon. My favorite is the cheesy potatoes. A "must have" get it on any breakfast adventure. Love the family owned business and atmosphere. Love supporting local business. Excellent, friendly service. Occasionally we have had magic tricks done at the table by the resident Houdini. We all love this place! I recommend it whenever I get the chance and I bring friends here to try it. Worth a trip.

Yelp
No ambiance at all! Just tired of restaurants that charge over price and sitting in a dump!

Pete A.

Yelp
Love their breakfasts. Plenty of good; crisp bacon, nice coffee refilled quickly, and fast service.

Yelp
Food was outstanding! I can honestly say this is the first place I've ever seen a Hollandaise Omelet on the menu. (Maybe I just don't get around too much ). The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the wait staff is very good. It has an american food menu with several mexican / hispanic items infused into it. All in all a very good experience!

Jackie H.

Yelp
Great food and service! The only issue is when we ask if we can sit in a specific place they give us a little pushback

Maria R.

Yelp
They're food is AMAZING! i really enjoy their barbacoa.Their proportions are a good amount and is worth the money !!

Yelp
Visiting Tyler. Found this place on Yelp. It's an old building...multi-level. Relatively clean. It's mostly a Mexican food restaurant that serves a big breakfast crowd. Best thing I had were their harvest grain pancakes. They were ever bit as good as the h.
google avatar

Shanna B.

Yelp
Very slow service. Food was not hot. Although service was slow, the waitress was nice. There just didn't seem to be any kind of urgency for prompt or fast service. We ordered the 2 egg platter with bacon, hasbrowns and 2 pancakes. The eggs bacon and hashbrowns were barely warm, but the pancakes were very good and hot The building is need of a good cleaning and updating.

Lexie C.

Yelp
The food, service and ambience has always been good here. If you don't like mamas restaurant, then I don't know what to tell you, it's good.

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing and waitress was terrific and sweet Mary k was a just an amazing person

Julie B.

Yelp
Large portions, very good mixture of American food and Mexican food so everybody's happy. Eggs Benedict has very good flavoring Chicken fried steak was not the greatest but was decent

Jayden P.

Yelp
The food is good, and the service is okay. Sometimes the servers are on top of it, sometimes not, it depends on the day. Ambiance is very mom and pop shop, it's cute if you're into that. However don't expect to make call in orders. I have on several occasions tried to call to do a pick up order and they will let the phone ring and send you to voicemail every time, or better yet, they don't even have their phone charged so you can't call at all. I love the food, it's great, but that's about the only great thing about it. The experience I have every time I deal with them is frustrating.

Yelp
Overall was unimpressed by the staff and food. I was visiting town for my grandfather in the hospital and this place is close to the hospital so stopped in to order take out for myself and my grandmother. I asked the hostess for a menu so I didn't have to ask her too many questions (I have food allergies) and she told me even if I did ask shr probably could only help with half. I ordered a hamburger and a taco salad. After waiting a little over 20 minutes the food and drinks were ready. No plasticware was in the bag so I asked for some and she took a couple minutes more to go get it. Now there was a line of people waiting to be seated and pay for their meals. One guy in line wished me luck which I took as this is a common thing. Took the food back to the hospital and we were really disappointed. The taco salad came without dressing and was in a really greasey taco bowl. My grandmother's burger had diced up tomatoes and onions which kinda went all over because the buns were really moist from the veggies but the burger was way overcooked.

Yelp
Mamas was amazing ! Delicious food ! Our favorite Mexican place here in Tyler . Their pork chops are perfectly cooked , the omelettes are huge !
google avatar

Yelp
I have been to mama's restaurant in Tyler. They would not even write down my order, saying they would remember it. Well, when the food came, it was the completely wrong food, not what I ordered. I was highly pissed off. I swore that I would never go back there again.

Yelp
Just moved here and wanted to take the fam to somewhere local. Portions are good, food tastes homemade if not made with care. Chicken fried steak breading was good, kids loved their quesadillas. Fajitas were good. Waiter was friendly and attentive. Will be back for sure!

Yelp
My daughter and I came here for breakfast on Saturday morning around 10:30 am and the place was jam packed. There was no parking in the front and almost no parking available in the back but luckily we found a spot. We walked in to a full waiting area. My first thought to all of this, is that, this is a good sign. Considering how full it was we didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes to get seated. We received an order of complimentary chips and salsa which were really good but it was apparent the chips were not home made. I don't mind if they're not home made if they taste good and this was the case. The salsa I was on the fence about. I don't think it was home made but again if it's good, I'm good. My daughter ordered the biscuits and gravy with sausage and I ordered the Migas breakfast with chorizo and a side of refried beans. Had I known their portions here, I probably would have skipped the beans but I like to slop all my goodies smeared with the beans on my tortilla. Now I'm pretty sure the tortillas are home made and this just makes the meal complete in my opinion. My meal was excellent! It was so much food, I took home leftovers for Sunday morning. My daughter loved her breakfast and I tasted it as well and it was delicious. The biscuits were definitely home made. Considering Tyler doesn't have very many breakfast options, I highly recommend Mama's!

Yelp
AMAZING service! Wendy is our favorite server thus far! The food is incredible, they have everything you need but their pancakes is the BEST!

Yelp
As usual we yelp before engaging in food choices. Looking for American traditional food, #comfortfood, this is the place! This particular restaurant had some pretty good reviews. We figured why not? Upon walking into the restaurant, you will find that this ambience is pretty laid back. This is what you refer to as a hole in the wall. Yes, it is true the best food can be found in the hole in the wall. After some careful decisions of what shall we eat. You know when you are hungry but yet cannot determine what to eat. I decided I would indulge in the chicken fried steak. I may add that I do not normally partake in unhealthy food. However after much discussion with the waiter who suggested we try. I figured why not! The chicken fried steak was lightly crusted and fried just right! The taste was scrumptious! The side mash potatoes, were light and fluffy, (not box quality) and corn crunchy and sweet, oh so perfect. I had to stop myself from eating the bread. The only downside, seem the food lacked a bit of salt. Not just personal opinion, spouse had the same feedback. We would definitely be returning. I may add that we ate here 2x. The menu is a variety from Mexican to the traditional American home cooked meals!

Yelp
I chose Mama's because of the excellent reviews on Yelp. We were there about 6:30 PM and there was hardly anyone there and that concerned me because it should have been busier. We decided to try it anyway. Good choice! My wife asked the server what was most popular on the Senior menu. He suggested 3-4 items. She then asked between two items so we all chose the one he picked; the pot roast with two sides. Tony, our server was outstanding. He checked on us several times during the meal and seemed sincere with his questions. I had a salad and loaded baked potato. All choices were very ample servings. He earned a good gratuity from us; about 60%. That may sound like a lot but, the total tab was very low.

Yelp
I and my family popped in for breakfast while my mom was having heart surgery. I had the eggs Benedict which was very tasty. If you leave this place hungry it's your own dang fault. The servings are very generous. My dad had the Joe's breakfast. He ate every bite. He particularly loved the pancakes. No pics. I was too busy digging in.

Yelp
When I have time on the road I love going out for a leisurely breakfast. I can picture myself being retired and meeting a group of curmudgeons every morning for coffee, conversation & exaggeration. This would be a great place to do just that. Casual dinner, friendly service and great breakfast menu. I'm sure the food later in the day is great also. I ordered an extra egg omelette & waved off the pancakes. It was huge, delicious and served freakishly fast. The servers were great and treated strangers like friends. Goya was my server & she was great! Another great experience thanks to my Yelp family!
google avatar

Yelp
I stopped by for breakfast. I was greeted by a very friendly waitress and seated. I was so happy to see a menu with several delicious options for breakfast. They have crepes, waffles, pancakes, etc. Looks like lunch & dinner is Mexican Food. My eggs, sour dough toast, hash browns & bacon were very delicious. A great find!
google avatar

Dianna B.

Yelp
Was excited to try this restaurant because the reviews! The food options on the menu were abundant. The food was NOT amazing. The coffee had a burned taste and the biscuits for the biscuits and gravy was hard and covered with gravy. Waitress (Andrea) was not real warm and welcoming.
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
Wow! Huge portions, wonderful wonderful sweet waitress!! Very clean, quick ordering and everything was delicious! Love this little place! Will go back!! Wonderful omelettes, pancakes and French toast. Cannot complain about anything here!

Yelp
My favorite place in Tyler for breakfast. It's like my go to place for breakfast. These guys have been even awarded with "Local Love Us" certificates for some years. They offer Breakfast 24/7 and other lunch and dinner texmex items. My favorite is their pancakes. It's just taste different than the usual ones. I only gave 3 Stats as the place is not that very clean. They need to work on that. The floors are really dirty, so are the restrooms.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp and decided to kill time waiting on my dads cataract surgery. It's a nice little hole-in-Wall place which I love, it has a mom and pops feel. They have French vanilla creamer which is a must for me so I was excited. I like a little coffee with my creamer in the morning. They have daily breakfast and dinner specials today is the breakfast sampler special. I substituted two pieces of ham for two extra pieces of bacon . The above was before I got my food. My order came out the ham so My waiter Jorge O. sees it at the same time I do and turns around and walks back to the kitchen, replaces the ham with a extra sausage and 1 bacon instead of 2 sausages & 4 bacon. He then stops a man leaving and is in his person space visiting with my plate of food, which during flu season is scaring me, and carried on a 2-3 minute conversation. So my food is getting cold and picking up their germs. The other waitress seems nice and friendly to everyone, but my waiter never came to check on me at all. He did check on other people. The pancakes were very good, hash browns didn't have any flavor, the bacon was good and the sausage links were good. I was very disappointed in the service I received and I was really excited to come here to begin with . I don't know that I will return based on service. I am normally a good tipper but not today

Yelp
Came back in for lunch to give it another try got seniors beef quesadilla service was good this time all went well but no chips were made?? Huh 2 pm late lunch.

Kevini Q.

Yelp
It's a no frills diner with friendly staff and quick service....at a price. The hash browns that came with our breakfast arrived cold. Not fridge cold but room temp cold so what this tells me is they didn't even try to warm it up, microwave it , nada. Who knows when the last time them taters were on the griddle. This is a red flag for me. I at least expect the meal to be hot.
google avatar

Kent M.

Yelp
Old school place here first impression. Have asked for dark browned waffle, 2 eggs medium, and lovely lady suggested bacon. Am very anxious for foods to appear. Well eggs were ok. Bacon small portion 2 strips but ok. Waffles...must be difficult to make good ones. Rarely get that. Batter on this one like cake dough or ? that is the apparent normal for pancakes and waffles most restaurants. Is...yuk. Need to do better. Probly not return. And am surprised here. Often this type place is amazing with handmade food.

Yelp
Wow. What can I say? This is by far the best Chorizo Breakfast Tacos I've ever had. I remember having my first taco at Jim's restaurant 30+ years ago, and have never had a better one....until now. I recently moved back to Texas and found this little gem using Waitr, and I'm glad I did. It served everyone in my household no matter what they wanted: Mexican, American, Breakfast, Burgers....doesn't matter. My wife got a Mexican dish, my mother got chicken fried steak, and I got the chorizo tacos....I wish I had ordered 10 because the 3 I had weren't enough, even though they were a good size. It wasn't enough because they were so damn good! Can't recommend Mama's more......a must-go! I wish I had taken a picture, but here's what the aftermath looked like:

Nathan B.

Yelp
We were served by Mary, who was an absolute delight! The most fun I've ever had with a waitress. The food was wonderful, and a pretty decent value considering the sheer size of the portions. I took my leftovers home, and will probably get a full two more meals out of them.
google avatar

Ruby T.

Yelp
New to Tyler so I've been on Yelp constantly and this restaurant popped up. Ate there for late lunch two weeks ago (great lunch specials before 3!) with my 3.5 year old daughter. Phenomenal waitress. Delicious food. Find myself thinking about going back almost daily but been trying out different restaurants in Tyler.

Blair M.

Yelp
Best pancakes I've ever had, hands down. What makes them so good? They have more of a yellow color. Is there corn meal in them? Whatever it is, they are delicious. Everything else was good, too. Service was excellent.
